Weblogic.XML - Dynamic JNDI

All,
In my current application we have cluster set up with JDBC Session Replication enabled. Unfortunately, i was forced to give the persistent-store-pool and persistent-store-table value directly in the weblogic.xml. Is there any way, where i can configure these values in property files and load the JNDI value in runtime? Something like ${JNDI}, ${TABLENAME}..
<session-descriptor>
<timeout-secs>1800</timeout-secs>
<invalidation-interval-secs>60</invalidation-interval-secs>
<persistent-store-type>jdbc</persistent-store-type>
<persistent-store-pool>${JNDI}</persistent-store-pool>
<persistent-store-table>${TABLENAME}</persistent-store-table>
</session-descriptor>
</weblogic-web-app>
Kindly help me on this aspect.
Thanks in Advance.
Cancer.

Kalyan,
Thanks a lot for your quick response.
We have different environment @ our end. Each will have different Connection Pool JNDI Name configured. we maintain a property file that holds the list of JNDI configured in that environment. Application runs without any issues.
When it comes to weblogic.xml - i cannot have the same JNDI configured in all the servers .
As of now, we will deploy the same WAR file across servers, all the JNDI name will be fetched from the property file.
Is there any way i can get the JNDI name from outside the WAR file?
Regards,
Cancer.

  • Application deployment order with weblogic-ejb-jar.xml and jndi-name

    I have two applicatation working on Weblogic server v. 10.3.6.
    First of them creating one ejb stateless bean and creates JNDI maping for it (in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file):
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
         <ejb-name>ConfigMenegerBean</ejb-name>
         <stateless-session-descriptor>
         <stateless-session-descriptor>
              <business-interface-jndi-name-map>
              <business-remote>package.ConfigurationSessionRemote</business-remote>
              <jndi-name>ConfigMeneger</jndi-name>
              </business-interface-jndi-name-map>
         </stateless-session-descriptor>
         <enable-call-by-reference>true</enable-call-by-reference>
         <jndi-name>ConfigMeneger</jndi-name>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    Second appication have to refer for this bean by JNDI using spring been lookup :
    <jee:jndi-lookup id="configManager" jndi-name="ConfigMeneger"/>
    I changed deployment order parameter for both apllication(first=100 and second=500) in order to first app start first and share bean by jndi to another application. Unfortuantelly I got an error :
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'ConfigMeneger'. Resolved ''; remaining name 'ConfigMeneger'
    How can I configure deployment order that first application make jndi mapping for bean, before the second application will use it ?

    Ok in a way I have solved my problem (even if I am not completely satisfied by the way on how to proceed...). So thanks to message "JBuilder7.0 and Weblogic6.1" on EJB sun forum :
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=285735&forum=13&message=1255488
    I have tried the following actions (mentionned in the other forum messages):
    - To preserve changes to weblogic*.xml, the safest way is to change the ejb-borland.xml.
    (I am not sure that I have applied this advice correctly, because I suppose that syntax is not similar in weblogic file or borland file).
    And you can MANUALLY update the weblogic file in your JAR archive.
    1. Open the EJB JAR file in Winzip and extract the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file, so that a copy exists in your
    project directory.
    2. Open this file (in Notepad), add the WebLogic specific information, and then save the file.
    3. Now, when you are finished with the build cycle and are ready to deploy, you may open the EJB jar file
    and swap in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file."
    Good Luck.

  • Dynamic JNDI name for database adapter in BPEL

    Hi All,
    I am having some major issues trying to make the JNDI location for the database adapter dynamic (10.1.3.4). I already went through the followin link, but that didnt work for me: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/bpel_cookbook/carey.html
    The below example works, but only the first run. Second time around the first runs JNDI value gets retained and connects to that database.
    This is what worked atleast the first time.
    I parameterized the JNDI with a variable defined in the partnerlink definition in the bpel.xml
    In Bpel. xml
    <partnerLinkBinding name="updatetbl">
    <property name="wsdlLocation">updatetbl.wsdl</property>
    <property name="CONN">eis/DB/na</property>
    <property name="retryInterval">60</property>
    </partnerLinkBinding>
    In the updatetbl.wsdl file
    <service name="updatetbl">
    <port name="updatetbl_pt" binding="tns:updatetbl_binding">
    <jca:address location="$CONN"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    At run time I change the partnerlink CONN variable in embedded Java.
    try
    Element targetAdapterElement =(Element)getVariableData("Invoke_getFromTbl_OutputVariable","getFromTblOutputCollection","/ns2:getFromTblOutputCollection/ns2:getFromTblOutput/ns2:SRC_JNDI");
    getLocator().lookupProcess("JndiIssueTest").getDescriptor().getPartnerLinkBindings().getPartnerLinkBinding ("updatetbl").setPropertyValue ("CONN",targetAdapterElement.getTextContent());
    ("updatetbl").getPropertyValue ("CONN"));
    catch(Exception ex)
    addAuditTrailEntry("Error is " + ex);
    This works fine the first time, but the second time I run it to look at a different CONN value, it somehow still connects using the first runs value!
    If I redeploy or clear the WSDL cache, it works. But we plan to run it multiple times from several environment so manually or programatically clearing WSDL is not the right solution.
    Can someone tell me what is the standard process of doing this so it works everytime?
    Thanks,
    Shaf

    Shaf,
    Please refer the mail thread for details. If you want I can send you(send me your email id) the sample BPEL process which uses Dynamic JNDI.

  • resource-env-description can't be set in weblogic.xml

    hi guys , i've been troubled with this configuration problem. i am trying a very simple example to send messages from a servlet to a weblogic queue, but i cant configure the weblogic.xml properly. i've been reading a lot of information but i cant find it.:
    this is my web.xml
    <resource-ref>
              <res-ref-name>jms/ConnectionFactory1</res-ref-name>
              <res-type>javax.jms.QueueConnectionFactory</res-type>
              <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
              <res-sharing-scope>Shareable</res-sharing-scope>
         </resource-ref>
         <resource-env-ref>
              <resource-env-ref-name>jms/colaIN</resource-env-ref-name>
              <resource-env-ref-type>javax.jms.Queue</resource-env-ref-type>

         <resource-env-ref>
              <resource-env-ref-name>jms/colaOUT</resource-env-ref-name>
              <resource-env-ref-type>javax.jms.Queue</resource-env-ref-type>
         </resource-env-ref>
    this work fine, but when i try to create the weblogic.xml , it doesn;t work:
    <weblogic-web-app>
         <reference-descriptor>
                   <resource-description>
                        <res-ref-name>jms/ConnectionFactory1</res-ref-name>

         </reference-descriptor>
         <resource-env-description>

                        <jndi-name>weblogic.jms.Queue</jndi-name>
                   </resource-env-description>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    what am i doing wrong? . i try to set resource-env-description in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml but it didn't work either? some ideas?

  • Editing web.xml OR weblogic.xml programmatically

    Hi there,
    I am trying to edit the web.xml and weblogic.xml programmatically. I am trying to load the above deployment descriptors in DOM object. But as DTD is mentioned externally, connection to URL is failing.
    But weblogic.jar contains all DTD in local machine. Is there any way to make parser to refer DTD in weblogic.jar. Or any weblogic API available to edit the deployment descriptors programatically.
    Thanks in advance.

    I believe you could get around this with a custom EntityResolver. It's possible that Tomcat does something like this.
    However, I would question why you are trying to do this. If your container is set to Development mode, you might get away with the container automatically reloading your changes, but it certainly won't happen in Production mode, and even in Development mode, I don't know that I could predict how that would work.
    You'd be better off, with respect to portability and flexibility, if you store dynamic resources in an external file, not in the web.xml or weblogic.xml file. You could have a timed "watcher" for the file, to see when it's modified.

  • Passing dynamic jndi destination to jms adapter in SOA Suite

    hi i post this thread in SOA Suite category,
    but havent got any answer yet,
    maybe someone in weblogic jms community here have an answer :)
    im interfacing Weblogic JMS 10.3 with SOA Suite 11gR1 BPEL/JMS Adapter,
    and i need to pass a dynamic destination jndi to message producing adapter in the orchestration process.
    details here:
    Re: SOA Suite 11g - dynamic JNDI destination JMS adapter

    Hi,
    If someone is looking to dynamically set the JMSqueue name here is the solution.
    in the Invoke activity set "jca.jms.JMSDestinationName"
    value to "JMSHeaderVariable"
    set the type to "input"
    in the JMSHeaderVariable set the queue name dynamically.
    and in the JMSadapter give any valid queue name, still the message will be routed to the queue which you have set in the invoke adapter.

    I found it in ADF 11g R2 documentation - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/taskflows_regions.htm#insertedID10
    I guess this is 11g R2 feature.
    I have a requirement to display the multiple regions dynamically. This feature suits my requirement perfectly, but unfortunately it is not available in 11g R1.
    Can we achieve the similar functionality in 11g R1 through other means?

  • SAX2 class weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistryXMLReader does not imp. XMLReader

    Hey,
    I'm currently facing some issues while deploying a Spring Webservice on WebLogic 10.3. The Webservice requires a Xerces Sax2 Parser, but the default implementation of weblogic doesn't seem to implement all necessary classes. I already tried to set up a XMLRegistry, but without any success.
    I'm running the webservice on a server besides the AdminServer.

    Hey,
    I'm currently facing some issues while deploying a Spring Webservice on WebLogic 10.3. The Webservice requires a Xerces Sax2 Parser, but the default implementation of weblogic doesn't seem to implement all necessary classes. I already tried to set up a XMLRegistry, but without any success.
    I'm running the webservice on a server besides the AdminServer.

  • Location of weblogic.xml

    I am very new to App server and weblogic too.
    I have created the new domain inside the server and I have to make some entires in weblogic.xml
    Where I can find this in my domain? Actually there are two weblogic.xml in my domain.
    I don't know which one to use.
    <doamin- root>\servers\AdminServer\tmp\_WL_internal\bea_wls9_async_response\8tpkys\war\WEB-INF
    and
    <doamin- root>\servers\AdminServer\tmp\_WL_internal\bea_wls_internal\9j4dqk\war\WEB-INF
    The entries looks like
    <resource-description>
         <res-ref-name>jms/ConnectionFactory</res-ref-name>
         <jndi-name>ConnectionFactory</jndi-name>
         </resource-description>
         <resource-env-description>
         <res-env-ref-name>jms/SystemQueue</res-env-ref-name>
         <jndi-name>SystemQueue</jndi-name>
         </resource-env-description>
         <resource-env-description>
         <res-env-ref-name>jms/ApplicationQueue</res-env-ref-name>
         <jndi-name>ApplicationQueue</jndi-name>
         </resource-env-description>
         <resource-env-description>
         <res-env-ref-name>jms/DaemonQueue</res-env-ref-name>
         <jndi-name>DaemonQueue</jndi-name>
         </resource-env-description>

    Here you will find your *"weblogic.xml"* after deploying your App on WebLogic:
    Syntax:
    <DOMAIN_HOME>\servers\<Your-Server_Name>\tmp\_WL_user\<APPLICATION_NAME>\......
    Example: C:\bea103\user_projects\domains\7001_Domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\_WL_user\helloWorldEar\ckwaac\war\WEB-INF
    But remember ...making any changes On DD contents...here in this Location...will not affect the Actual Application......You need to either use *"Plan.xml"* to make changes on DDs, Or else you need to ask your Developers tio make changes on the Application DDs....then you can deploy it again:

    Hi,
    i have a urgent requirement for my project using SOA Suite 11g,
    and i have a problem in passing dynamic JNDI
    to the database adapters (eis/DB/...).
    say that i have 2 connections,
    eis/DB/conn1, and eis/DB/conn2
    how to switch this information dynamically in the bpel orchestration
    and supply it to the db adapter.
    since when using wizard we supplied it statically.
    I notice that this problem seems to be answered in
    this thread:
    Thread: How to externalize JNDI name (setting JNDI name dynamically)
    How to externalize JNDI name (setting JNDI name dynamically)
    but when i tried it (using WS-Adressing substition) it doesnt
    work in this newer version of SOA Suite (11g)
    So how we can solve this in SOA Suite 11g
    Thank you...

    Hi,
    you don't need to change the resource adapter connection just change the (xa) datasource in the eis name
    I know with the mediator I can assign a new datasource by setting the jca.db.xadatasource property and still use eis/DB/conn1
    hope this helps

  • Creation of Virtual Directory in weblogic.xml (OBIEE11 Weblogic)

    We are using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4, we want to create a Virtual directory mapping in weblogic server so that we can place our static image files to access from the application URL.
    To do this activity, we have performed following steps -
    1) Navigated to C:\OBIEE11G\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\jee
    2) Open analytics.ear file
    3) Existing code in weblogic.xml is: (if weblogic.xml is not present we need to create the file with below code)
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'US-ASCII'?>
    <weblogic-web-app xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/weblogic-web-app">
    <session-descriptor>
    <cookie-path>/analytics</cookie-path>
    </session-descriptor>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    4) We have added virtual-directory-mapping tag; After adding virtual directory mapping tag, the code in weblogic.xml is
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'US-ASCII'?>
    <weblogic-web-app xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/weblogic-web-app">
    <session-descriptor>
    <cookie-path>/analytics</cookie-path>
    </session-descriptor>
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>D:/virtualdirectory</local-path>
    <url-pattern>/images/*</url-pattern>
    <url-pattern>*.jpeg</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    5) We have created a folder virtualdirectory under D: drive. And then created a folder images within folder virtualdirectory.
    6) Then we have placed an image (lets say) test.jpeg within image folder.
    7) Restarted all BI services,
    8) Now when we try to access URL http://localhost:9704/analytics/images/test.gif. Now we are able to see the image, it’s working perfectly fine.
    If we paste the above URL in browser it will automatically displays the image without any authentication. So our requirement is, on pasting the URL in browser first it should redirect to OBIEE homepage and when authentication is done then it should display the image.
    Request you to please advise with your inputs.

    Why did you modify analytics.ear ?
    Should'nt you make changes here : Middleware_Home>\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1
    \analyticsRes\WEB_INF\web.xml
    Follow this note : OBIEE 11g: How To Access Custom Files Through URL By Creating Virtual Directory In Weblogic Server? [ID 1408240.1]
    And you should be able to deploy that virtual directory and access it after authentication.

  • prefer-web-inf-classes in weblogic.xml doesn't work

    When I try to use <prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes> it works fine with default classloaders structure. But after I changed classloaders hierarhy by means of <classloader-structure> in weblogic-application.xml classes from web app are ignored and classes from outside web app are loaded.
    Here is classloaders structure I use
    <weblogic-application>
    <classloader-structure>
    <module-ref>
    <module-uri>mywar.war</module-uri>
    </module-ref>
    <classloader-structure>
    <module-ref>
    <module-uri>myejb.jar</module-uri>
    </module-ref>
    </classloader-structure>
    </classloader-structure>
    </weblogic-application>
    Has anybody encountered this before?

    Hi, Rob
    Does it work in WL9.2?
    It seems I do it exactly as the explained at http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/programming/classloading.html - and it fails :o(.
    I try to run my app.ear with WL9.2 There are 2 components in it: webapp and mdb. The webapp/WEB-INF contains weblogic.xml:
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <container-descriptor>
    <prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>
    </container-descriptor>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    Mdb is expected to run in the same mode, i.e. to prefer the webapp/WEB-INF/*.jar over the parent Weblogic classloader. To do so I add the weblogic-application.xml to the app.ear!/META-INF:
    <weblogic-application>
    <classloader-structure>
    <module-ref>
    <!-- reminder: this webapp contains
    prefer-web-inf-classes -->
    <module-uri>webapp</module-uri>
    </module-ref>
    <classloader-structure>
    <module-ref>
    <module-uri>mdb.jar</module-uri>
    </module-ref>
    </classloader-structure>
    </classloader-structure>
    </weblogic-application>
    Now, when classloader-structure specified, both webabb and mdb prefer the weblogic root loader as if prefer-web-inf-classes not defined at all.

  • Several paths   with the virtual-directory-mapping    in weblogic.xml

    Hello! I don´t know if this is well posted here. Sorry, and my english is aswful :(.
    I´m trying to put several paths for jsp files in an application, similar to how the extendend document root works in websphere.
    How can I get this on weblogic? With this lines I only managed to get the first but the second url-pattern doesn´t work.
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>/path1/</local-path>
    <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>/path2</local-path>
    <url-pattern>/jsp/*.jsp</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    My intention is make that the app could access to jsp´s files in path1 and in path2. Is this possible on weblogic?
    Thanks in advance

    I see. In my case, x == images, so if I reverse my directory
    structure I could still get this to work for me. For instance:
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>C:\webapps\context\y</local-path>
    <url-pattern>/images/*</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    /images/z.gif would map to C:\webapps\context\y\images\z.gif.
    I'll have to weigh changing our directory structure vs. keeping the
    servlet we have that rewrites the URL.
    Thanks for your help.

    From the developer
    Virtual directories just replace the doc root. The doc root in your case
    is C:\webapps\context\x\y. The request uri is /images/Z.gif. So the whole
    thing resolves to C:\webapps\context\x\y\images\Z.gif. Which is where the
    image should be located.
    We have cleared up the docs. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    Hi. I noticed in WebLogic Platform 7.0 there is a entry for
    WEB-INF/weblogic.xml that defines a virtual directory. Example:
    <!DOCTYPE weblogic-web-app PUBLIC "-//BEA Systems, Inc.//DTD Web
    Application 7.0//EN"
    "http://www.bea.com/servers/wls700/dtd/weblogic700-web-jar.dtd">
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>C:\webapps\context\x\y</local-path>
    <url-pattern>/images/*</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    In this case I'm assuming that a request of the form
    http:/host:7001/context/images/z.gif would map to the physical file
    C:\webapps\context\x\y\z.gif. However I cannot get this to work. Is
    my assumption about it's use incorrect? Is the syntax of
    <local-path/> or <url-pattern/> wrong? Is there something you have to
    do to get WebLogic to recognize the weblogin.xml file?
    This is urgent. Please help.
    Thanks.
