Webmethods and JCA

Hi All,
          Based on the press release back in june
          http://www.bea.com/press/releases/2001/0605_webMethods_WLI_print.shtml )
          Anybody have any info about the following:
          1) Did the JCA bidirectional connector get built?
          2) is it available now and from whom?
          3) Has it been successfully used anywhere?
          Thanks for any info!
          -justin

I think a few years back, it would have had a greater impact. "Back in the day", WebMethods and SAP had their partnership....basically, they created a "stripped down" version of the WebMethods product and that was the "Business Connector". However, since then, that Business Connector was pretty much replaced (and greatly improved/enchanced) with SAP's own XI. So now, I don't see it having more than a small ripple effect.
Take notice though....this is just a small example of the battlegrounds...In the Oracle vs. SAP war, both sides have been snatching up smaller "strategic" companies. The struggle is FARRRRR from over. =)
*note: I still have my WebMethods t-shirt that came vacum sealed in the shape of a gear from TechEd back in 1998 or 99. =)

    What is the recommended way of connecting to repository out of WebDAV, RMI, JNDI, and JCA connector possibilities provided by CQ 5.5?

    Hi dp_adusumalli,
    I recognized your list of ~8 questions you posted at around the same time, as I received that same list in our customer implementation from Arif A., from the India team, visiting San Jose. :-)
    I provided him feedback for most of the questions, so please check back with Arif for that info.
    For this particular question, can you provide specifics for the types of interactions you are interested in?
    Understanding the kinds of things you need to achieve will help determine which of the CQ/CRX interfaces is best suited for the task(s).

    Can any one explain me at ground level what these three words means and relationship between them and where do they stand in the overall XI ARCHITECTURE. And also tell me the uses of all the above words.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    >>>I have sean lot many materials but still now i am not able to figure out these tree words. i.e. PCK, ADAPTER FRAMEWORK and JCA.
    PCK - called small XI/PI it's a middleware which can do mappings but has to be connected to XI from one side

  • DB Adapter and jca transport: monitoring and management

    Greetings.
    We have faced with several issues with DB Adapter and JCA transport proxy. We use pooling DB adapter. As the result - the pooling stop. I would like to know:
    1. Is the way to monitor pooling threads of DB Adapter in OSB? I would like to answer the question "does it work?".
    2. Is the way to restart pooling in JCA Proxy service? The way we found is re-save OSB configuration in OSB Console, bu it is terrible.
    I use:

The way we found is re-save OSB configuration in OSB Console, bu it is terrible.You may restart/redeploy DBAdapter in Weblogic Admin Console and polling should start. Ideally poller transports does not stop polling. Let us know the complete detail if you experienced such issue.

  • Fault policy and jca.retry.count in 11g

    I have a composite which has the architecture as follows :
    Adapter (File) -- Mediator -- Adapter (FTP)
    The mediator follows sequential routing pattern
    I have configured jta.retry.count = 3 for the FTP adapter.
    Also the composite refers to the fault policy file from the MDS
    In the fault policy file the ora retry action is defined as follows :
    < Action id="ora-retry">
    <retry>
    <retryCount>1</retryCount>
    <retryInterval>5</retryInterval>
    <retryFailureAction ref="ora-rethrow-fault"/>
    </retry>
    </Action>
    We have configured the following rejection handler for the file adapter :
    <faultName xmlns:rjm="http://schemas.oracle.com/sca/rejectedmessages"
    name="rjm:FILE_RD_B2BOutFolder_Files">
    <condition>
    <action ref="ora-ws"/>
    </condition>
    </faultName>
    We get the following message as part of rejection message email notification :
    The adapter has exceeded maximum configured retries. The adapter has exceeded maximum configured retries. The adapter was unable to process "{0}" after having retried for {1} times, now the adapter will reject the message. This exception usually comes due to errors in downstream systems. Please increase the value for "jca.retry.maxRetries" in composite.xml for the inbound service and redeploy.
    I have the following doubts:
    1. When the FTP adapter fails because of a remote fault, which retry will be executed fault policy or jta.retry.count ?
    2. If the jta.retry.count is executed then can I see 3 instances on the EM console or any other entry in the Log file.
    3. where can i configure jca.retry.maxretries property. this property is not available on emconsole.

  • OSB and JCA and AQ adapter

    Hi,
    Database 10.2
    OSB 10.1.3.1
    I would like to automaticlly publish changes from databasae AQ to service in OSB.
    Is it possible to do it by creating JCA AQ adapter (deploy it t OSB as business/proxy process)
    that could listen/dequeue database AQ and invoke a business/proxy proces on OSB ?
    Or any other ideas how to force OSB to dequeue AQ itself ?
    Regards,
    Cezary

    Hi. I'm not quite sure if JCA Adapters are available in OSB 10.3.1. But in SOA Suite 11g they are. And the JCA Adapters provide you with functionality you need. You can choose between JMS Adapter and AQ Adapter. Both will poll for new messages on the configured queue and respond by pulling message from queue. You can define frequency of polling and more. So, yes, JCA Adapters are the right choice (you only need to check if they are available for your version).
    Confirmed by a colleague: In version 10.3.1 there is at least a working AQ Adapter. There seems to be a problem with the Jms Adapter in this version: it can not handle queue's with Text Message Type......

  • Topic: XA transactions and JCA 1.5

    Hi,
    I am new in the area of connectivity and integration and I have a question regarding supporting XA transactions.
    I have a EIS that supports XA transactions. Now, I want to integrate this EIS into a J2EE Application Server. Currently, there is no Resource Adapter (RA) implemented for this EIS.
    Is it mandatory to supply a RA for this EIS in order to enable this system to participate in XA transactions? Can a EIS be connected to an Application Server without using JCA, and make XA transactions work?
    Thanks,
    --------------------

    If your EIS has data in a database you could use JDBC to access that data, or if your EIS uses a messaging system you could use JMS. These are the easier options.
    Otherwise you are going to have to use a JCA adapter to get it to participate in an XA transaction. Its not the easiest thing in the world to do - buy one if you can rather than write one. Otherwise there are a couple of books out there with tutorials, such as the SAMS book Java Connector Architecture, or the Sun book J2EE Connector Architecture and Enterprise Application Integration.
    If you do go down the route of writing a JCA adapter, make sure you also read up on XA, such as Mike Spilles articles here:

  • Webmethods and XI using HTTPS POST

    hi,
    i have an idoc->xi-cXML scenario.
    when i do a https post to the vendor(runs on webmethods) they don't get the cxml but they can receive our namespace, interface, msg guid etc but not the cXML document itself.
    I did transmit the same cXML to other vendors where they said they have received it and i got a confirmed 200 success message too.
    now this leaves me wondering why this other vendor is not receiving it.
    From xi i did everything - increase the trace levels to see the message and i see that the cxml message going out but i don't understand why they are not receiving it.
    Any ideas how to troubleshoot this issue?
    Is there anything wrong on XI end?
    One more thing when i talked to the vendor-tech guy himself he thinks the way XI sends the cXML using HTTP POST might cause the cXML document for not receiving at other end?
    Any help would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tirumal

    Can you elobarate on what you suggested.?

  • Diff between JBI and JCA & JMS

    Hi,
    i am new to JBI. I want what is the diff between JCA and present JBI.
    any one can give some explanition and suggest some links to fine the content.
    Thanks In advance
    Pandu

    The challenge with JCA plugins is that the plugins don't know how to talk to each other as there is no standard way for them to communicate. Also, the installation of these plugins is not standardized. JBI spec is built around the WSDL model so any plugin can talk to any other plugin in a standard fashion. The routing of these messages is taken care by the normalized message router. Similarly the spec clearly spells out a packaging model for the plugin so that it can be installed into any standard container. Furthermore, by using standard JMX mbean mechanism, you can control the state of this plugin.
    Reg. the NMR implementation, the spec confines itself to a single VM. Whether NMR is built on top of a message broker or a simple router like what we have in Open ESB is up to the implementation choice.
    While a JMS based routing works for some of the configurations, requiring JMS for every routing decision is not optimal.

  • Confusion about Kodo and JCA

    Hi,
    I'm a bit confused about Kodo's Connection Architecture strategy. It is my understanding that
    PMF's can be built to use the connection architecture. Along this line, one would configure the
    ConnectionFactory or ConnectionFactoryName, and possibly the ConnectionFactory2 and
    ConnectionFactory2Name properties in a PMF. The result of the PMF implementation supporting the
    connection architecture is nice integration with the application servers in terms of security,
    transaction, and connection management. One can lookup in JNDI a reference to a Kodo PMF that
    supports datastore transactions or to another one that supports optimistic transactions or to
    another one that supports NTR, and with proper settings of the transactional properties and suitable
    application code, one's sesson bean will work.
    But from what I can see of Kodo's JDOPersistenceManagerFactory class, it, itself, implements the
    ManagedConnectionFactory interface, meaning, I think, that this class is resource adaptor. And that
    the part that confuses me. Why would Kodo be a resource adaptor? I thought it used a resource
    adaptor, which I think is the same thing as a connection factory.
    Anyway, I'm puzzled, and I'm hoping that someone could straighten me out.
    David Ezzio

    David-
    The fact that Kodo can integrate into an application server as a
    Resource Adaptor, and section 3.2.2 of the specification that says that
    the PersistentManagerFactory should be able to utilize a Resource
    Adaptor to obtain connections to the data store are two separate issues.
    We implement Kodo itself as a Resource Adaptor in order to provide ease
    of integration into recent application servers. Your confusion is
    understandable, since we do not actually yet support the use of Resource
    Adaptors as the Connection Factories as per section 3.2.2.
    Does that make sense?

  • JMX and JCA

    Is that a realistic idea to hope wrap a JMX connector - to a management application - inside a JCA connector ?
    Thanks in advance

    It should be possible. The Connector architecture provides the "glue" SPIs that would allow many types of data sources to be connected in a full-duplex fashion. I have seen a number of other examples like JavaMail adapter, JMS adapter, JAXM adapter, JAXR adapter etc. But i am not aware of an implementation that does JMX, but i don't see why that is not possible.

  • WebMethod and Collections to mimic XmlElementWrapper

    When a Collection is a variable within a class I can use the XmlElementWrapper to provide a wrapper element around the contents of the Collection.
    The problem is if I have a SEI and one of the WebParam's is a List, I cannot use XmlElementWrapper on that parameter.
    Is there a suggestion on how to solve this?
    Has anyone just written an adapter around Collection so that you can add the XmlElementWrapper functionality?
    because I want something like
    <collection>
    <item>1</item>
    <item>2</item>
    </collection>
    instead of without out a wrapper element:
    <item>1</item>
