Website intro / nav change

I'm relatively new to Flash and AS3. I've created a website thats a dynamic photo gallery. The site is self-contained (no scrolbars) and I want the frame work of the gallery to draw itself in as the page loads. The frame work is just simple lines and drawing objects on the maintimeline.
Do i combine the lines (the "frame work") into a mc and then somehow use the deco tool? How can I acheive this in action script?

I'm trying to create an intro to my page. I want the page to look like it's being drawn on the screen, kind of like using the deco tool with the vines as an animation, except with a movie clip/graphic that I've already created.
For example, if you created a movieclip of a picture frame and had it on the maintimeline, instead of just doing an alpha tween to fade it in when the page loads, I want it to be drawn in, perhaps like an Etch-A-Sketch...
Does that make sense?

Hello, my name is XDude and I'm reliving my glory days of when I used to make long, elaborate website intros in Macromedia Flash.

Aside from the long loading time, does it work on all your fabulous devices, tablets, etc.?
For the devs:
The program has certainly come a long way since version 1! Thanks so much for including all the lessons right inside the program, it made the learning process super-easy.
Overall, making the animation was mostly painless. I did find myself a bit bewildered by the lack of a "modify the background color of the document body" (not just the stage) or "add a body background image" feature. (Unless that's what a down-level stage is?)
My hax0ring skilz were also a little too weak to get the preloader image to appear in the center of the page...
If there could be a way to move the playhead with the keyboard (like hitting the Page Down key in After Effects or Premiere) that'd be awesome.
Other than that ... well, I'm super-excited to see that Flash 3 lives again!!

I just had a look at it in Chrome... performance was crap!
Can anyone else also look in Chrome and let me know?
P.S. the graphics are a bit low-res for desktop (it's mostly designed for mobile users).

How do I disable the "Security Warning" - encrpted script message when I log in to a website using https ? If I cannot get the website owner to change it's code

Whenever I log onto a website via https, I get this message and am unable to have Firefox save my password for the website.
Another user asked this question and it was answered, however, the user was asking in the context of his own website where he was able to change the code.
I am unable to change the code for this website but would like to disable this message and have Firefox remember my password for the user id I type in.

Firefox gives that error because the page is on HTTPS but your form action is HTTP:

Can you change that to HTTPS?

There is a disconnect here: if the form is being submitted securely, then you would not get that message. So although you may be looking at an HTTPS address in the address bar, Firefox is warning you that your username and password are going to an HTTP address and being transmitted in the clear rather than being protected.
That's definitely not the normal way to set up a login page. Do you want to give the URL of the problem login page to get specific comments? Without knowing more, it sounds as though it isn't designed for secure logins and you may be wasting your time accessing their login form using HTTPS.
Anyway, to answer your question, I don't think there is a way to disable that warning.

TS1398 Just got the mini, specifically to get jobs on a certain website. Jobs change all the time. When I go to website, it has not updated from the first time I logged in on the mini. It works on my laptop just fine. HELP!

My sons just bought me an ipad mini especially so that I could check a certain website on which I sign up for jobs throughout the day. The website is updated constantly throughout the day with new jobs and the status of the jobs I already have accepted and worked on. (It shows the percentage of the job that has been done.) It worked fine only the first time I logged on with the mini. Since then (yesterday,) when I check the website, it lets me log in, but I only see the same exact information that was there the first time I went to the website using the mini. It seems to be 'frozen' on that particular first look. It doesn't update at all.
I know it is not updating because I have also been checking with my notebook computer and with the notebook, the website is up to date.
Maybe its Safari?
I had the same problem when I used a friend's iPad.
I wonder if there is a setting or something that I could change to allow the website to update to the time I check it.
If not, then the ipad mini is a terrible disappointment and I would like to return it.
If you can help me, I would be extremely grateful.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.
*check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

Website not updating changes made in DW CS3 (though they show up in browser preview) what's wrong?

There are a few possibilities. First of all, you may be seeing a cached version. Clear your browser cache a try again. Another common problem is that the site definition is setup wrong, so you are uploading to the wrong folder on the server. Please show us your local and remote site definition. Finally, this is a frame site so make sure you are uploading the correct page.
What is the text you are trying to change?

The link you posted gives be a 404 not found message.
The reason you're getting the repeat is because your site name is wilgenroos.nl and the first page of your site is wilgenroos.
The standard URL for domain names that are forwarded with the CNAME method is:
http://www.domain_name.com/site_name/page_name.html.
You can change the site and page names in iWeb to give you something more informative about the site and page.
If you're publishing to a 3rd party server and want to get rid of the site name in the url and only have
http://www.domian_name.com/page_name.html
do the following:
publish the site to a folder on your hard drive (already done)
use Cyberduck to upload just the contents of your site folder to the root folder of your account on the server.
You should delete the old site folder and files that are currently there beforehand.

Best Way to Export Movie to use in WebSite Intro??

Im doing a animation with 20 seconds in After Effects. I wana use that animation in the intro of my WebSite that is most of it Flash AS3.
I wana ask u guys, what is the best format to export the video, so it dosent loose many Resolution, and not becoming to big the file so it will be fast to open from a link.

I'm successfully using F4V files to run footage on websites in a suitable player (JXTC Vtube Pro - Joomla sites).
Files are about 40MB per minute @ 1280x720 PAL. If you want to see an example of some AE graphics (simple stuff I might add - I'm a beginner in AE) you can find it on http://www.movingmemory.co.uk
The graphics promo piece was composed in 1440x1080 in AE and rendered out to .m4v then fine cut to the audio track in Prem Pro - I use a frame count on the audio at composition as a guide to sync. The final is then exported from Prem Pro to F4V at 1280x720p.
I find F4V a great solution for the footage I shoot, and doesn't eat up my websites' storage capacity.

My Golive website fonts are changing to chinese! help!

I have constructed a website in GoLive 2.
My website works ok on my version of Safari on my computer but Ive tested it in Safari on 3 other Macs and on some of them the Helvetica sections are changing to a weird type of Chinese font.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can stop it?
Ive checked the text encoding menu on all versions Ive tested it on and they are all set to Default.
Its fine in Firefox.
anyone help, is there anything I can do in Golive to ensure this doesn't happen?

OS X Server Deleted My Website and Configuration Changes

I have a small website I'm using from within my LAN on my MacMini under OS X 10.9.4, using html pages and one Python wsgi script. I ran into an issue with the databases in SQLite and rebooted. (I kept getting errors with the database being locked.)
After the reboot, I couldn't access my site and checked in OS X Server only to find the website was no longer there. (It had survived reboots before.) I checked /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/httpd_wsgi.conf and found that my WSGIScriptAlias entries (for that application and a few test/experimental scripts) were gone. All the changes I had made to OS X Server to set up my site were gone.
Is there any reason this would happen? And what can I do to make sure I don't suddenly lose entire website configurations when I reboot in the future?

Thanks that makes my decision easy. NAS is out of the question then since I do want multple devices to gain access to the media at times simultaneously. I did not know that NAS had this restriction. I also prefer the UI of iTunes for sorting thru my media.
So I will go with a dedicated Mac Mini running iTunes alone 24/7.
My next question would be about external storage. I do not need a raid 5 system since all of my media is backed up elswhere. I would like a good size external drive or multple drives that could run with minimal noise. (Prefer no fan) Currently I have been using a 2TB G-Drive with FireWire 800, it is very quiet, no fan and has worked like a charm. The problem is I need more space. I ended up getting a second 2TB GiDrive since the first one worked so well and daisy chained it to the first one with FireWire 800.
The problem is the Mac tend to unmount the drive after extensive sleep. I do have the mac in No Sleep Mode, Wake For Network access and Sleep drive when not needed. The latter does not work and I ended up not letting the drive sleep to prevent the drive from unmounting.
Am I doing something wrong that is causing the drive to unmount on its own?
Is there a better external drive for my needs that allows for growth yet runs quietly?

Font in safari (body fonts on websites) has suddenly changed

Don't think i have done anything to make this happen, but the font has changed when i visit certain websites (including my own site)
It has got smaller, in fact it seems to be using a different font altogether.
My site uses css for the navigation buttons, i use Helvetiaca Neue, it has changed and i can't work out why.

That usually only happens when you've added new fonts, and one is conflicting with your Helvetica Neue. By the way, your site looks very nice to me . . . I cannot see any obvious problems. Have you looked in your Font Book or font manager to see if you can find the rogue font???

How to 'open' previously created website to make changes?

I created a website with iWeb on another computer (I'll call it Computer A) and copied all the files onto an external hard drive. I plugged the external hard drive to another computer (Computer B) and want to edit that website, but there's no 'Open' to select from the File menu in iWeb like on other programs. This can't mean that I can make changes to that website only on Computer A, does it?? How do I access that website on Computer B??

It is not complicated at all. All you need to do is be aware that your site is created using a domain file and you need to copy that domain file to be able to update your site on any other computer. Then you can just double click on the domain file and open it.
iWeb is not lame at all. It was designed for its ease of use and one click publishing, however, it only creates html files on publishing. That is just the way it works and has always worked.
If you want anything complicated, you could consider using packages such as Dreamweaver or an html editor and write your own code.

Website Shake when changing pages

We've developed a new part of our website on www.ingles.babylon-idiomas.com/es/ using DIVs to nicely centralize the page on the screen. The problem however is that with every page change, the website does a little "shake" as the right hand scroll bar disappears and appears again. Any idea what we can do to get rid of this "shake"?

This is caused by the browser having to work out the position of the div's then built the tables.
Also try changeing all the left and right margin values to -
margin: 0 auto 0 auto;
To centralize the display in the window, this is only required in your outer wrapper div, not every div.

Router Can't see My Website Anymore since changing its DNS

Neither my old Panther G5 nor my new Macbook running Leopard can see my website anymore since I changed its DNS settings (after server failure we had to move).
I use a Belkin 4-port router FSD5231-4, which sees all other websites on the web now, but not mine. Everyone else in the world, except me, can see http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org.
when mac is plugged straight into the cable modem it sees the website fine. Only when the router is in the mix, does the site go awol.
Belkin said I had to download an .exe file in order to reset the MTU settings. After I insisted there must be a way without using .exe, he said to go into Mac settings to reset MTU to 1400 (the ideal range is 1400-1500). When Apple support showed me how to get in to change the setting of MTU, we found it was already set to 1500, and didn't change the outcome.
Good News Network is still awol.
I looked on Belkin for firmware updates but my model number (above) returns "No documents found". I think updating would be a great idea.
Also, I tried resetting w the little hole in the back, but nothing changed (the paper clip wasn't able to push in the back of the hole at all, it seemed).

You shouldn't need to change the MTU on your router, nor should you need to factory reset it; a simple power cycle of it should be all you need if it's got your old DNS information cached.
I suspect your Mac may have the address cached as well.
Try shutting down your Mac, power cycling the router, then booting the Mac and see if that works.
