Websphere 5.1 Jtds jdbc driver issue

Can some one suggest the possible solution to this issue.
I am trying to use Jtds 1.2 jdbc driver to connect to Sqlserver 2000 from the websphere 5.1 app server ( actually test server environment from WSAD 5.1.2) and I am getting the SQLException as follows "The requested size is greater than the maximum number of rows" . We have the same Jtds driver running fine on JBoss app server for the same application. So I am guessing it must be some configuration that I am missing in websphere that I could nt able to figure out. Appreciate if some one can direct me.
The run time error....

It passes the J2EE 1.3 certification ...So it is JDBC 2.0 compliant.
How does it rate with JDBC 3.0? Like mostly
complete? Or all complete but just not certified
(presuming such a certification exists.)It's both JDBC 2.0 and 3.0 compliant. The problem with the J2EE 1.4 compliance test suite is that it's not publicly available (1.3 is) so we simply can't test against it. We are trying to get jTDS certified, but it costs $2000 and we don't have that kind of money (not unless we pay from our pockets). We intend to do it, from donations and commercial support, but we're currently quite far from the $2k target. Even without an official certification jTDS is the driver of choice for a number of applications that need JDBC 3.0 features (e.g. Hibernate).
The only missing JDBC 3.0 features are connection pooling and row sets. The reason we did not implement these features is that there are good, free third party implementations out there, which are probably better implemented and tested than anything we could come up with (namely DBCP and c3p0 for connection pooling and the Sun reference implementation for row sets). Regarding connection pooling, jTDS does implement the PooledConnection interface, it just doesn't implement the pooling DataSource.
And it does windows auth as well as database auth
right (not a new feature but I want to make sure I
remember?)Yes, it does both SQL Server and Windows authentication. Windows authentication can be done using the credentials of the currently logged user (i.e. without the need to specify a user name and password) or by providing a Windows user name and password (this is useful when logging in from a non-Windows machine or a machine outside of the domain to an SQL Server that is only configured to accept Windows authentication). As far as I know the second Windows authentication mode is only supported by jTDS.

    Hi Steve,
    Put jar file with JDBC driver to lib folder under your WD project and it will be included to wda and ear files.
    BTW, may be it is beeter to register driver and datasource instead of using direct connect to DB? See how to register data source http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b0/6e62f30cbe9e44977c78dbdc7a6b27/frameset.htm

  • -net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver ERROR WHILE CONNECTING TO SQL SERVER

    Hi,
    While making a new connection to Sql Server Express Edition Database, through Oracle Sql Developer i am getting a problem when retrieving the database.The error is "-net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver" .I have downloaded the "jTDS - SQL Server and Sybase JDBC driver " from sourceforge website, but i am confused about where to paste it.
    thanks.

    I'm not sure why you are having the error but I am sure of the following:
    1. This forum is not appropriate for SQL*Developer questions.
    2. Or questions about code from SourceForge
    3. Or Microsoft products.
    It seems unlikely this has anything to do with Oracle so I would recommend you find a forum related to the driver if one exists. Otherwise you can try the SQL*Developer forum but I would be there aren't more than a dozen other people on the product trying to do this.

  • Websphere Application Server an JDBC Driver errors

    We're currently testing the BEA JDBC/SQLServer driver on IBMs websphere Application server and have encountered a couple of problems, which are described below. Has anyone encountered these before, and are there solutions to fixing them.
    Problem 1. All JDBC queries through the drivers cause the following error message to be displayed on the application server console:-

    2. We get an intermittent problem where a JDBC query causes the following exception:-

  • How to install jTDS jdbc driver

    I've heard so much about this jTDS driver, and had it with the current jdbc driver i'm using. I'm using slserver 7. i would like to install the jtds driver. I just downloaded the .jar file. how do i install the driver. which directory do i put it in? pls help asap. thanks a million.

    "Install" it?
    The directory you put it in depends greatly on the application that's using it.
    If it's a desktop app, put in in the CLASSPATH for the app.
    If it's a Web app, put it in the WEB-INF/lib directory for your app.
    It's not a cut & dried answer. I don't think one JAR file will necessarily serve all apps. Expect to have duplicates as needed. I do.

  • Upgrade MS SQL 2005 platform to MS SQL 2008 - Update the JDBC driver issue

    Hello to all,
    I´m planning to do an upgrade of a sap system (SAP ECC 6.0) from SQL Server 2005 to an SQL Server 2008 but I´m facing with a little problem. This system has two stacks - ABAP + JAVA - and because of that the Upgrade Guide to MS SQL Server 2008 describe which are the requirements for this upgrade DB platform, and one of them is this:
    "If you use a Java system, you have updated the JDBC driver as described in SAP Note 639702"
    ... the updated of JDBC driver when we have in system a Java part, like it has in this case! But I´m with a serious problems to find in SAP System Files in Windows 2003 Server the four files that is mentioned in that note 639702. I can´t find it anywhere... in note says:
    Depending on the SAP release and the system configuration, the driver files base.jar, util.jar, sqlserver.jar, and spy.jar are available in an installed system at:
    (NetWeaver'04, Java:) usrsap<SAP SID>JC<InstanceNumber>j2eejdbc
    (NetWeaver'04, ABAP+Java:) usrsap<SAP SID>DVEBMGS<InstanceNumber>j2eejdbc
    (NetWeaver 2004s:) usrsap<SAPSID>SYSexe<NUC|UC>Platformmssjdbc
    But... still I didn´t find them!  I also read other note 1109274 - New JDBC driver for NetWeaver 7.0 and higher but even so I still can´t find it!
    Can you help me to find this files on my operation system? I have to update that JDBC... but of course for this task I have to find it first!!!
    Best regards,
    João Dimas - Portugal

    Hello John Feely,
    Yeah I already know that you mentioned! In my first post/previous message I mentioned that, I already read the note 639702 and it was there I read that explanation... regarding that creation that you refer in the case of files are not in those directories, so you said that I could download this four files and put in there... but where? and how..? Sorry but that solution seems does not make any sense!
    I also look other systems with double stack ABAP + JAVA and I one more time I didn´t see that directories or files that are mentioned in that note!! DAMN!
    Any tip?
    Kind regards,
    João Dimas - Portugal

  • Cannot create SOA-MDS connection for JDBC driver issue

    I am unable to create a SOA-MDS connection in JDeveloper 11.1.1.6. We are using MS SQL Server database and have put the sqljdbc4.jar file into a library in our JDeveloper environments. We can use this to sucessfully create database connections.
    However, when we attempt to configure a SOA-MDS connection which uses our DEV_MDS connection (which uses the com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver successfully), we do not see anything in the drop down list for 'Select MDS partition'.
    While looking at the Messages, log, we're getting:
    WARNING: Error reading db partitions for connection DEV_MDS. Reason: MDS-0003: error connecting to the database
    Error during pool creation in Universal Connection Pool Manager MBean
    ...ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXADataSource
    I opened our sqljdbc4.jar file and see both the SQLServerXADataSource.class and SQLServerDriver.class files in there.
    So why can JDeveloper load one of them but not the other at runtime? Do I need to add the sqljdbc4.jar to a second location (besides a custom Library) in order for the Universal Connection Pool Manager MBean to load it via JDeveloper?
    Please advise,
    Michael
    NOTE: I can manually query the database and see 'soa-infra', 'owsm' and 'obpm' partitions just fine.
    Edited by: mscongdon on Aug 14, 2012 9:33 AM

    Hi,
    Do you use MS SQL Server as your MDS database? Did you create an MDS in it using RCU?
    When you created the database connection in JDeveloper could you test it succesfully? Can you connect to it with the Database Navigator?

  • How do I install the jdbc driver for sql server 2005, in sql developer 4.0 ?

    Hallo together
    I need access to tables in a MS SQL Server 2005 database.
    One possibility is the JDBC driver.
    How do i install this driver ?
    Thank you very much for your postings.

    Hi,
      This is from the documentation -
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
    The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
    For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
    To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
    You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)
    Alternative:
    As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Slow mySQL select - mySQL/JDBC/CFMX issue?

    Hello!

    FROM

    Parameter #1(cf_sql_varchar) =

    Both return the same result, but the second one only take 1
    msec, the first one 30 msec. The number of chars to return (using
    LEFT) is exactly the length of the field (no data is shortend).
    What could be the reason for that difference? Any methods to make
    query #1 as fast as query #2?

    best regards,
    Hansjoerg

    Hello!
    - Index exists, table is optimized (and currently has just 5
    records).
    - I tried to change the order, no change. The version with
    the simple naming of the desired fields is always up to 10-100
    times slower than the version with LEFT( ...).
    - I now went back to mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
    from version mysql-connector-java-5.0.6 - now both queries have the
    same speed (about 1-3 msec).
    So it seems to be a JDBC driver issue but I cannot find any
    information on the net why the newer version is sooo much slower.
    Best regards,
    Hansjoerg

    Regards,

    I have already tried this before and this not work too, but strange that even if I use JDBC:ODBC bridge driver, the return value for output parameters are not correct, that is, only return the value that I input but not the value after executed in the procedure....
    The code that I used with JDBC:ODBC bridge is as follow:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    String url = "jdbc:odbc:;DRIVER=SQL Server;Persist Security Info=False;database=db;Server=sql;uid=sa;pwd=pwd";
              Connection con;
              ResultSet rs = null;
    CallableStatement callS = null;
              try {
                   Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
              } catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e) {
                   System.err.print("ClassNotFoundException: ");
                   System.err.println(e.getMessage());
              try {
                   con=DriverManager.getConnection(url);
    callS = con.prepareCall("{ call dbo.CpJavaTest (?)}");
    callS.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
    callS.execute();
    rs=callS.getResultSet();
    int ret = callS.getInt(1);
    System.out.println("return value : " + ret);
                   while (rs.next()) {
                        String f1 = rs.getString(4);
                        String f2 = rs.getString(5);
                        System.out.println(f1 + " " + f2);
              } catch(SQLException ex) {
                   System.out.println("SQLException: " + ex.getMessage());
    The value of the output parameter is same as what I inputed! Hope any one can teach me how to correct it...
    Thank you very much!

  • Issue encountered when Login as sysdba role using Thin Oracle JDBC Driver

    Hello all,
    we are now considering to use Thin oracle JDBC driver to create database in our project, but we met one issue when we tried to connect to oracle as sysdba role using Thin driver, and it throws java.sql.SQLException: Io Exception: SO Exception was generated, I have found some tips on oracle jdbc website and it says :
    How do I connect as SYSDBA or SYSOPER?
    The only way to do this is to use the Properties object when connecting, rather than specifying the username and password as strings. Put the username into the "user" property, and the password into the "password" property. Then, put the mode into the "internal_logon" property. Something like the following:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put("user", "scott");
    props.put("password", "tiger");
    props.put("internal_logon", "sysoper");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection (url, props);
    When connecting as SYSDBA or SYSOPER using the Thin driver, the RDBMS must be configured to use a password file. See "Creating and Maintaining a Password File" in the "Oracle Database Administrator's Guide".
    So, i did execute orapwd command to create a password file and also set remote_login_passwordfile=execlusive in my initxxx.ora initial parameter file, however, when i tried to connect, it failed.
    private static void createEmsdbDatabase(){
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:";
    StringBuffer sqlStatement = new StringBuffer();
    sqlStatement.append("create database xxx");
    sqlStatement.append("maxdatafiles 254 ");
    sqlStatement.append("maxinstances 8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("maxlogfiles 32 ");
    sqlStatement.append("character set UTF8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("national character set UTF8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("DATAFILE 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\system01.dbf' SIZE 18M REUSE ");
    sqlStatement.append("logfile 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo01.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
    sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo02.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
    sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo03.log' SIZE 2M REUSE ");
    try {
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put("user", "sys");
    props.put("password", "password");
    props.put("database","xxx");
    props.put("internal_logon", "sysdba");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, props);
    Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
    statement.executeUpdate(sqlStatement.toString());
    statement.close();
    conn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    But what made me puzzled a lot is if i use OCI driver, it did work great, why??? guys, anybody knows, please give me some tips, thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Kaixuan @ Shanghai

    clarify my question in detail:
    Step 1 : create password file using orapwd command
    Step 2 : create database instance using oradim command
    Step 3 : login using sys as sysdba to startup database, e.g startup nomount pfile='...\initxxx.ora'
    Step 4 : create database.
    java code showing below:
    private static void createEmsdbDatabase(){
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:";
    StringBuffer sqlStatement = new StringBuffer();
    sqlStatement.append("create database xxx ");
    sqlStatement.append("maxdatafiles 254 ");
    sqlStatement.append("maxinstances 8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("maxlogfiles 32 ");
    sqlStatement.append("character set UTF8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("national character set UTF8 ");
    sqlStatement.append("DATAFILE 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\system01.dbf' SIZE 18M REUSE ");
    sqlStatement.append("logfile 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo01.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
    sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo02.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
    sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo03.log' SIZE 2M REUSE ");
    try {
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put("user", "sys");
    props.put("password", "password");
    props.put("database","xxx");
    props.put("internal_logon", "sysdba");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, props);
    Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
    statement.executeUpdate(sqlStatement.toString());
    statement.close();
    conn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    issue was met here, when i tried to login as sysdba using sys, and in my java code, i use Thin driver, it then thrus exception, but when OCI driver is used, it works great, i don't know why.
    that is, when i use "jdbc:oracle:oci8:@" as database URL and then properties.put("database","xxx"), it works great. but, when i use "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:" as database URL and then properties.put("database","xxx"), it failed. hopefully, i have clarified my question clearly. thanks.

  • JDBC driver, multiple oracle homes, tns issue

    Environment:  Win 2003 Server 32 bit; Coldfusion 8; oracle db; IIS; Sequelink 5.4
    I'm having a JDBC driver problem on 32bit.  I've  installed two oracle clients on the box, one 10g and recently an 11g.  With the  new 11g install, I've still wanted my datasources to all point to 10g  for now and I've changed the environment path to have the 10g path  first.  Everything is good except for my coldfusion data sources, they  will only now connect to 11g.  When verifying 10g data sources I get
    [Macromedia][SequeLink  JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket][Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not  resolve the connect identifier specified
    So I add a 10g service to the 11g tns names and the datasource connects just fine.  It's a work around but not a good one.  The main issue is that the JDBC driver seems to be pointing to my 11g tns for everything and that is the problem.

    You mention Sequelink and your message refers to ODBC Socket.
    When you create this datasource in CF, are you using ODBCSocket as the DSN type? IS that because perhaps you're on CF Standard and don't have Oracle listed as a driver type option?
    In that case, you may want to consider getting an Oracle JDBC driver, then using the "Other" DSN type when creating a DSN in the CF Admin.
    There are various resources walking through how to do this:
    http://blog.razuna.com/2008/01/25/configure-the-jdbc-driver-for-oracle-on-coldfusion-8-sta ndard-edition/
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/183/tn_18344.html (though see comment in above entry about a concern using the "thin" driver referred to in this technote)
    http://www.technicallychris.com/2006/09/04/configuring-oracle-for-coldfusion-mx-standard/ (this offers a useful follow up tip to the technote)
    Hope that helps.

  • DB2 and WebSphere: having trouble running the JDBC driver script

    I'm investigating WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) and want to go through one of their tutorials. They require DB2 7.1, so I installed that. There is a script in the DB2 7.1 distribution that enables the JDBC driver within WSAD. Howver, the script won't run because it says I don't have the correct permissions.
    I'm running all this on Win2K, and my userid has administrator privileges, and I installed both WSAD and DB2 under that userid.
    So, has anybody got WSAD and DB2 to work together? If so, how?
    Thanks much in advance.

    You are suppose to run one of these two batch files:
    C:\Program Files\SQLLIB\java12\usejdbc1.bat
    C:\Program Files\SQLLIB\java12\usejdbc2.bat
    I assume that you need the second one. If you take a look inside of this batch file you'll that it is only simple copy/remove files. You should be able to do those operations with your userid. Perhaps, it is a good ideea to stop either DB2 and WSAD before running this batch file (is trying to remove two files one .dll and another .exe which could be in use ...).

  • Websphere 6.0 DataSource, Microsoft JDBC driver

    I am trying to configure a DataSource using Websphere 6.0 and Microsoft's JDBC Driver for SQL Server 2000.
    I am configuring a V4 DataSource (not a V6 DataSource).
    After configuring the JDBC Provider and the DataSource, the Test Connection operation generates this message:
    DSRA8101E: DataSource class cannot be used as one-phase:
    ClassCastException: com/microsoft/jdbc/sqlserver/SQLServerDriver incompatible with javax/sql/ConnectionPoolDataSource,
    error code: NOT_A_1_PHASE_DS
    How can I fix this? Is anybody using Microsofts JDBC driver and Websphere 6.0?

    looks like it's a problem between single phase and two-phase commit drivers. They're different, of course. there are extra steps required to get SQL Server to participate in 2 phase XA.
    I know how to do it in WebLogic. Not sure about WebSphere.
