Week and a half old MBP

SOOOOOOOOOO I've had my Macbook Pro for about week and a half (bought on July 5, 2009) opened july 7. And I just noticed theres a small dent. It's really small but ******* me off now cause I see it now and once you first see it you always see it once I look to that direction.
I was wondering if anything can be done to it? >_< Can i still return it for a new one? Ah I must sound like a picky jerk haha. Just wondering

RETURN it and get a new one !
you need even no reason why ..
i had a 2.93 17" and returned it on 13th day WITHOUT any fee, apple payed back the complete amount.
then i got a 3.06ghz 17" ..
it depense where you bought it; mine was from the onlinestore so i called apple on 12th day and they arranged the pickup via tnt.
(the day counts when you inform them)

If you have Apple care and the problem occured without misuse on your part ... it can be replaced without charge.

  • TS4268 My iMessage has not been working for the past week and a half (4/26/13)

My iMessage stopped working about a week and a half ago (today is 4/26/13), even when connected to my home WiFi.  My fiance is having the same problem with his iMessage.  Both of our iMessage and FaceTime accounts are "active" according to our iPhone settings.  Friends who live across the country (we're in the USA) have asked us why we've stopped using iMessage. Please, HELP!!!

Thanks for the reply.  I tried that, then updated my phone (which restarts everything).  Those steps seem to have fixed the problem for now.

My iPod Touch 4th generation is about a year and a half old. Today it got wet and I dried it off, but now it is turning on and off by itself and the volume is going up and down by itself. What do I do?

    First dry the iPod.

    Then
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Are there widespread issues with macbook pro lcds having to be replaced on computers less than a year and a half old

are there any know issues with respect to lcd displays going bad on macbook pros. my computer which sits on a desk and has never traveled outside the home needs a whole new lcd replacement. Its a year and three months old.Pretty bad for an expensive laptop

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Some MacBooks Pro with Retina display have got problems with the display, related to a display manufacturer. However, in this case, it's a common issue and Apple is replacing or repairing all of these computers for free.
In your case, probably it was bad luck. Computers fail, and maybe you have bad luck and your computer has got a defective part that has to be replaced. Fortunately, this rarely happens, and most of the users are happy with their MacBooks Pro

  • Ipod Touch has been frozen for  a week and a half now and i been turning it off by the sleep and top button.. how do you fix it?

My Ipod Touch has been frozen for almost two weeks now. I have truning it off by useing the sleep and top button and it is still not working. I have been pluging it in my laptop and it is sycning but still did noting. What should I do?

It seems as your iOS Software Is most likely corrupt. Try doing a software restore in iTunes by clicking in your iPod and clicking the Restore button. This will restore your iPod to factory settings. So back up your Music, Videos, and purchases before restoring.

  • I bought an iMac 2 weeks and a half ago, do i have to pay for lion?

My question says it all. I bought an iMac like 3 weeks ago and then this week apple realeased lion, so im wondering if i still have to pay for it.

No you do not! I hope you didn't buy it yet.
You just have to submit a request for the application code and enter it into the App store.

  • Time Capsule can't find it's own hard disk every week and a half

I purchased the 2 teirabyte Time Capsle and received it in the mail around the 5th of this month.  Aproximately every 11 days or so, Time Capsle can't find its own hard drive.  I have to keep going into the Airport utility and manually selecting it.  I thought this was suposed to be automatic?
    My set up:
Time Capsle is the only wireless router in my house.
Backups are set to be done to Time Capsle only
I have an external hard drive attached containing movies and things on it so i can access them wirelessly.
The network itself is password protected.
I do not understand why it is easier to backup to an external hard drive then to Time Capsle.

Because the TC and Mountain Lion is buggy.. 11 days is great.. loads of people have to do it every day.
ML has the network ability of tin cans with wet string.. every now and then the string snaps and you have to rejoin it.. ie reboot everything.

  • I bought a macbook air a week and a half ago and now if you buy a macbook air they give you a free gift card, wheres mine?

After spending all of this money for for my macbook air and know you get a free gift card with it, I feel like I should apply for that promo. It's dumb for apple to reward new users and I have owned apple stuff for 7 years and i've spent over $10,000 dollars and they won't return that to loyal customers but they will give $100 to new users.

I never intended to make it sound like you're a bad person.
My only point is that sometimes, manufacturers start deals or promotions after some previous customers have made purchases.  That should be the manufacturers' right.  It's not like the folks who made purchases prior were cheated in any way.  They got what they thought they were buying.
Yes, you and I and all Apple customers should be thanked.  I think we are already.  I feel appreciated.  I have had several instances where my Apple customers needed in-warranty service and was provided this service without any hesitation.  I feel appreciated by having the company continue to provide exceptional products and services.

  • HT4528 my month and a half old iphone 5s had a blue screen and now just has a black screen. will not reboot or restore through itunes. what do i do?

my  iphone 5s has been showing a blue screen and shuttiing down. yesterday night it did just that and now will not reboot or even restore through itunes.
    what should i do?

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

  • Year and half old and hard drive problems

My Mac book pros hard drive has crashed for the second time and its only a year and a half old. It was replaced the first time but now the warranty is expired. What Do I do? I'm going in to apple tomorrow but I doubt they will replace it for free.

Call Apple Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2275.  Ask politely & firmly that you want to be transferred to Customer Relations.  Tell them exactly what you stated in your post.  See what they can do for you.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 15" that is three and a half years old.  Although it has slowed a bit, it still runs well and runs every program I need. Any tips for how to keep this old computer running well and in good health?

I have a Macbook Pro 15" that is three and a half years old.  Although it has slowed a bit, it still runs well and runs every program I need. Any tips for how to keep this old computer running well and in good health?
I have a 250 gig drive and try to keep at least 100 gigs unused at all times, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory, back up with Time Machine and CrashPlan, and have OS X 10.7.3.
This was my first Mac since an old Apple II GS.  After that I used PC's and got really good at reformatting, replacing drives, reinstalling, defragging, resolving software conflicts, etc.  Since switching back to Macs (five in my extended family now), I haven't had to do any of those things. So, although, the cost is three times as much, the aggrevation has been ten times less.
I'm retired and living on a fixed income and would therefore like to keep this computer running as opposed to constatntly upgrading.
    That said, any tips?
    Thanks
It does have a crack on the left of the screen case about 3/4'' up from the bottom.  I've posted that as another question.

Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior.  Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Adding more RAM, if feasible, and a new, faster hard drive may also help pep it up a little.

  • Screen starting to fail, 2 and a half months old iPhone 5

Hello, I'm from Brazil and I really don't get many help with my problems around here, so I figured it would be better to post it here, I've bought my iPhone 5 in the USA by december 2012, used it very well, always taking care so that it wouldn't break, after about 1 year and a half the screen started to fail and not much after it just became all spotted, I don't really know how to explain, so, as the warranty had expired already I went to an licensed apple reseller in Sao Paulo, paid R$ 900,00 and after a few weeks, got a new one, but now this new one is starting to have the same problem the old one had, tomorrow is the last day of it's warranty as after you get a new one the warranty only lasts for 3 months, I'd really like to know if there is any way to contact apple so that they can help me out with that, because to get a new iPhone it takes about 2 ~ 4 weeks here in Brazil, and I'm travelling this wednesday, so that's a real problem. Anyways, never had any jailbreak or anything, so I don't know why this keeps happening to me (never seen this happen to a friend either), any help is really welcome, thanks guys.
PS.: I take a lot of care of this phone as it's REALLY expansive in Brazil, so it's very hard to drop it, only did it once or twice.

I noticed Mike's post about podcasting tech specs disappeared too. I suspect that may mean some changes are in the works. In the meantime, go to the "Publish a Podcast" page in iTunes Music Store, and in the text above where you would put the new XML feed URL is a link to the tech specs as they exist today.
Have you looked at the feed file for one of the newer entries and compared it to your files? Do you have a valid e-mail address in your XML Author field? Apple appears to sending out alerts to authors with errors in their submissions.
