Weird Timing Issue with Custom Javascript Files

I have attached a static javascript file to my application using the Shared Components...Static Files facility in APEX. This is working. I can call methods in my JavaScript file and they work as expected.
The issue is that if I ever want to have JavaScript run when the page is loaded, it is as if the javascript is not in place yet when the method is called. For example, I want to set some some style characteristics of a few common fields that occur on more than one page, if I add a button to the page that I click to call the method (and don't select "Fire on Page Load"), this works fine. However, if I do select "Fire on Page Load", the javascript is invalid.
I have tried After Refresh of the region which seems like it would work but, this event fires before* the javascript is available.
How can I load the page, including the javascript reference, and then call the javascript method?

WR,
I think the latter, adding it to the template, sounds like the better solution. (I am using Application Express 4.1.1.00.23 BTW).
Now for the newbie questions...
I am trying to figure out exactly where to make this change. So, I had a couple of questions.
1. I went into Shared Components>Templates. Then, I scrolled down to the section labelled Page. I see that the default checkmark is beside "No Tabs - Right Sidebar" so, I click this and I do indeed find a <HEAD> section defined. Is this where I need to add the reference to the javascript file?
2. I assume I need to upload the static file to the server. Right now, I have uploaded it via the Shared Components>Static Files selection. When I add it now, I am doing this:
var headElement = document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0];
var currentCommonRiskPos = currentHeadHTML.indexOf( 'commonRisk.js', 0 );
if ( currentCommonRiskPos == -1 )
   var jsRiskCommon = document.createElement( 'script' );
   jsRiskCommon.id = 'commonRisk.js';
   jsRiskCommon.setAttribute( "type","text/javascript" );
   jsRiskCommon.setAttribute("src", "#APP_IMAGES#commonRisk.js" );
   headElement.appendChild(jsRiskCommon);
}See how I used "#APP_IMAGES#"? I am assuming that this would not work from the page template, correct? For example, in the template currently, I see:
<script src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_24/js/4_1.js"></script>I am assuimng that I should upload my JS file somewhere in the images folder and reference it in the same way, right? For example:
<script src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#JoesStuff/js/HellowWorld.js"></script>Does all of this sound correct?
Thanks,
-Joe

  • Weird timing issues when playing back a recorded sound file and with synths

    Hello there,
    I'm having a couple of strange issues with playing back files that I have recorded using MIDI data which is then used to play an external synth which then gets recorded to an audio track which at the time is perfectly synced to a click track.
    The problem is (and I really dont get why this is happening) when it comes to playing back the recorded audio file that sometimes it is either behind or ahead of the beat.
    This makes absolutely no sense because sometimes it IS in time with the beat and other times when I play through my piece it is obviously out! I haven't moved the audio file in the arrange window and it is a permanent .aiff file that is stored on my hard-drive...what on Earth is going on?
    On a side note, the same problem happens with any of Logic's synths when I use an LFO that is supposed to be synced to the beat. Sometimes when I play back the MIDI data it is perfectly synced and in time and other times it is horribly out. It really is just pot luck!
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you supermacmom!
    I have the LifeProof case for the iPhone5, and I remember the instructions saying that any protective screen cover should be removed before enclosing the phone into the case, but I left mine on with no ill effects.
    But I should have taken off the back protective film, which was covering the video mic!

  • Issues with Executing Javascript command in Captivate

    Hi,
    I am having issues with executing javascript for a button in adobe captivate 5.  Let me explain what I am trying to do.  I am working on a WBT that has three skill checks throught the course. These skill checks are not graded or tracked for completion.  I currently have an image button that has the command "Open another project" The first image button is pointed to SkillCheck1 and I have the html file and swf file in the published root folder.  This currently works fine.
    However I want to use javascript to open a new window 800X600 with not toolbars at the top.  I got this part working with the code below:
    window.open('http://www.adobe.com','mywin',
    'left=40,top=40,width=800,height=600,toolbar=1,resizable=0');
    My only problem is, once the popup opens, my WBT goes to a page that says [object] and thats it.  I am uploading two images to show what I have.  Can someone help resolve my issue of the WBT going to

    Ok so I took this link and viewed over it.  I am new to Javascript and know very little about it.  Therefore this script kind of makes no sense to me.
    <script language="JavaScript"><!--
    var windowHandle = '';
    function myOpen(url,name,attributes) {
        windowHandle = window.open(url,name,attributes);
    //--></script>
    <a href="javascript:myOpen('page.htm','windowName','height=100,width=100')">text link</a>
    I chose the option to exectute javascript.  Does captivate need all of this including <script language=JavaScript">  Here is how I edited the script.  Should I make any changes to what is in bold?
    var windowHandle = '';
    function myOpen(url,name,attributes) {
        windowHandle = window.open(url,name,attributes);
    <a href="javascript:myOpen('http://www.adobe.com','Adobe Website','height=600,width=800')">text link</a>

  • Issues with Custom Settings

    Is anyone else having issues with custom settings on 10.8.2?
    I am trying to configure basic office 2011 settings based on the keys located at http://afp548.com/mediawiki/index.php/Office_2011_Settings using a device group.
    However, when I log into an authenticated user's machine and load pref setter I can see that the customizations are not found on the newly managed machine.  I know the push updates are working, but for custom settings I seem to be getting nothing.
    My questions:
    - Am I just flat our doing it wrong? (meaing, should the plist files be copied over)
    - Are there common issues to look out for?
    - Can anyone share basic custom settings they have that work?
    Thanks!

    Thats a bad idea. Office dos not react well to having it's prefences copied from one machine.
    Check out: http://www.officeformachelp.com/office/administration/mcx/
    It's a good guide for MS Office prefs.

  • Issue with length of file paths - Windows & C++ plugin

    Hello,
    I've got an issue that just popped up on my OCR plugin I've been working on that I suspect is related to the length of the filepath.
    I'm getting the following error that is being caught and logged when trying to open a file (filename changed for security purposes):
    Error Opening File: D:\aVeryLongFilePath.pdf
    Exception info: This file cannot be found.
    The entire string, including the D:\ part, is 266 characters long. I cut down the length of part of the path one by one and it was able to open and OCR the document when the length was 259 characters.
    I know there's a MAX_PATH variable in Windows and/or there's some kind of limitation for file length. Note that I can open the file in Acrobat using File->Open and run OCR on it individually using the built-in Recognize Text function, but if I try to Recognize Text for Multiple files and choose "Add Folders", the file in question doesn't show up in the list of files to be batch OCR'd (even though it is there). Interestingly, choosing "Add Files" from the Recognize Text->In Multiple Files does work. So Acrobat itself has at least some issues opening the file using some of it's features.
    Here's how I'm opening the document:
         string pn;               // assume this is initialized, I'm just putting this here to demonstrate what type it is
         pathName = pn;
         ASAtom pathType = ASAtomFromString("Cstring");
         asPathName = ASFileSysCreatePathName(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), pathType, pn.c_str(), NULL);
         pdDoc = PDDocOpen(asPathName, ASGetDefaultFileSys(), NULL, true);
    Is there a way around this problem?
    Thanks.

    Yes, you are hitting the MAX_PATH on certain versions of Windows.   The only workaround would be to see that the file is "a very long path" and then break up the pathname construction into multiple pieces (perhaps the containing directory and then the file itself).  The other option is don't use Cstring to construct, use the Unicode variant.

  • Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I am operating with CS4. Photoshop produces an error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

    Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

    Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
    Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
    You can double check this yourself:
    First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
    Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    If you find your camera is supported by your version of Photoshop, you need to download the latest update for Camera Raw. There's more information on how to do that here:
    Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
    If your version of Photoshop cannot support your camera, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
    Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
    The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

  • Issue with opening .PDF files after recalling from Symantec Enterprise Vault

    Good Morning,
    I am having issues with opening PDF files that have been recalled from Symantec Enterprise Vault and some of the files are anywhere from 3-4 years old.  Some files open, while others return the error: Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf because it is not a supported file type or might have been damaged.  It is inconsistent as to which files it occurs with.  I am not ready to believe that I have that many corrupt files out there.  I am opening them on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64 desktop. Adobe 10.1.7. I have already configured the registry setting for bValidateBytesBeforeHeader that I found in another article to no avail.
    The files are on a network share, but I also tried copying them to my local desktop and still received the error.
    I have seen other posts regarding this error, but do not see a definitive solution and am hoping that in recent days someone has come up with a solution.
    Thank You
    Brian Dougherty

    Not supported file type can (but not always) mean the PDF was created with an old enough version of Acrobat, that it isn't comaptible with reader X or XI.
    Might have been damaged is pretty cut and dried in its meaning and interpretation.
    There's a known issue with Mac OS and Safari Browser "breaking" PDFs as they download, but it's not so common for Windows. Since these are files you already had, it would be even less applicable.
    You can try downloading an older version of Reader to check if it's a compatibility issue, but you'd have to uninstall the latest to do it and it'd be a lot of bother if they still don't open. It would also mean they are "broken" and cannot be repaired, that I know of.

  • Issues with Custom Chart

    Hi,
    I am facing some issues with custom charts.
    1. X Axis value is getting cut off. Given date as x axis parameter and last 2 digits of date is getting cut off. (format like 19-Apr-2011T00:00:00). And this value cut of happening only for custom chart.
    2. On right click of the custom chart, when i am selecting Preview, it opens a new pop up window with and error as Error: "Application error occurred during the request processing.". No preview is being generated.
    3. In Server Scaling, i checked Use global auto scaling, and many times it is showing improper y axis or mutiple y axis values with the same value or it is displaying improper global range
    kindly help
    Regards
    Muzammil

    Muzammil,
    Without seeing your data and your chart configuration, it is difficult to understand exactly the issues you are encountering.  I have the same JRE and the same version and build of MII as you.  I have no difficulty with the scaling or with Global Range, but problems displaying the date in my tests.
    I would suggest the you enter a ticket into the SAP Support System, and enclose a  copy of your data (run the query, use Browser with Content Type = text/xml) and export a copy of you display template.
    Lastly, what type of query are you using - sql, tag?
    Kind Regards,

  • Having issues with custom master pages and device channels

    I'm working in Sharepoint 2013 and am attempting to create a custom master page that is to be used by mobile devices. I have created an html file and a custom css file that includes snippets from the design manager. The file appears to preview fine in a
    browser from Microsoft Web Expression. I have loaded the html file into sharepoint via design manager, so the master file is there as well. The css files are in the style library for the site collection and I have created a device channel including user agent
    strings for iphones going back to the iPhone 4 and operating systems going back to iOS 6. I have obviously assigned my custom "mobile" master for that device channel and I have turned off mobile browsing. However when I open the site on my phone
    it shows the normal full desktop view and not my custom master. I will include my html code, my css and a screenshot of my device channel below. Please help!
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!--SPG:

    Hi,
    The issue is likely not your HTML Master Page but your user agent string. Try a user agent string of just "iphone". To test your master page, you could also set the user agent to "MSIE", which should cause this master page to load for
    any version of IE. This will help you debug the master page as well in your normal browser.

  • Issue with opening PDF file link from Safari

    Hi Everyone,
    I got a problem with opening PDF file link from Safari 4.04. Instead of getting a normal pdf content, it shows some weird characters. Not sure it is something wrong with Adobe Reader Plugin or Safari?
    I have uploaded a screenshot of the issue in the adobe forum (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/531870). Please help!
    Many Thanks,
    John

    There's nothing wrong, except the fact that you have Adobe Reader installed. You don't need it, so get rid of it; it will only cause problems with Safari. What you're seeing is the contents of the PDF file, rather than having it displayed.
    If you want to download a PDF file, you can either Control-click on the link and choose "Download Linked File As…", or you can Option-click on the link for the file and it will be downloaded to your Download folder (usually your Desktop).
    If you want to view a PDF file in Safari, you don't need Adobe Reader; Safari is perfectly capable of doing this by itself and has been for years. Adobe Reader will only get in the way and slow everything down.

  • Issues with Custom Package in Lightroom 3...please help

    I am having issues with the custom package in lightroom 3. I am selecting diferent cell sizes (with different aspect ratios) and placing multiple images in these cells.
    On screen everything looks good, but when it actually prints some of these cells are coming out stretched!! For example, the 6x4 cell comes out fine (same aspect ratio as the original capture), but i have 2 x 1.5 inch cell whose image comes out stretched??
    The first thing I thought of was the "zoom to fit" option, but this is not present in picture package.
    Then I thought it perhaps it was something to do with the my print settins, but cannot find anything there.

    I am having the same issue.  I used a Matt Kloskowski print grid and when I printed it, or printed to file, some of the images in the 15 that were created in the template were distorted.  Some the faces became wider and some narrower.  Not just zoomed to fit.  On screen it all looks correct.  Many others on the forum where the template was posted don't seem to have this issue.  I created a template myself just in case that was it but I got the same problem as walenahs.  I tried to figure out what he had done but I didn't get it.
    I have attached the two images.  You can see the distortion in the second image on the top row (too narrow), and on the second row, the second in and second down, black and white (too wide).
    Thanks

  • A weird installer issue with xcode

    This is a new macbookpro i bought only a few weeks ago. I installed xcode on it, then removed it due to the fact that i needed to put some really huge hd video files, which needed all the hard disk space i could muster. After moving the videos from my mbp to my external hd, i tried to install xcode again. However, xcode's mpkg won't open, no matter how many times i open it with installer. Other mpkgs and pkgs work fine. What's the problem?

    Hi rhonnywhoop, and welcome to the Dev Forum!
    rhonnywhoop wrote:

    There's no such thing as a weird issue with Xcode after an uninstall-install again cycle. Almost anything can go wrong and weird is the rule, not the exception. But yes, most of the strange problems show up after the installation (e.g., Xcode won't open, Xcode starts up but gcc always fails, Interface builder won't read nib files, etc., etc.). If I needed disk space for a video, I'd probably get another drive before I'd uninstall Xcode, but then I use Xcode all the time. Plus it's too late for that advice, so I'll try my best to point you in the right direction.
    A few questions:
    1) Was there any message when the mpkg failed to open? Please post any such message for us;
    2) Did you install from the DVD that came with your MacBook, or did you download a dmg from the Mac or iPhone Dev Center? If you haven't tried downloading the latest Xcode version yet, that might be worth trying;
    3) Did you uninstall from Terminal, using the command given in the Xcode doc (e.g. /Developer/"About Xcode Tools.pdf"? If not, how did you uninstall the prior Dev Tools?
    4) Is any entry made in one of your logs at the time of the failure? E.g., open Console.app (in /Applications/Utilities) and look for the most recent entries in install.log and system.log. If you find anything like that, please post it for us;
    5) Have you tried any additional cleanup besides the recommended uninstall (question 3, above)? Based on case histories in this and other forums, the most powerful trick is to rename /Developer (e.g. to /OldDev). Other tips will be found by searching on terms like "uninstall" or "clean" in this forum.
    In general, we can assume that since your previous installation was successful, the game is to restore your system to its past condition. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it might help to rule out irrelevant conditions as you try one thing after another. In fact, some developers have cleaned up by re-installing the entire system (needless to say, be sure to try restarting your system before resorting to anything that drastic!). On the other hand, some developers have reported that installing a more recent version of the Dev Tools (if any), can clean up a problem when repeated installs of the same system fail.
    I hope something above will lead you to a solution. Several other developers who regularly contribute to this forum know much more than I do about installation problems. For example, if etresoft joins this thread, be sure to follow his instructions completely and before any others.

  • Issue with custom receive Pipeline component

    I have been facing issue with creating a custom receive pipeline component. The Pipeline is to receive large file, if the file size is large it has to read the incoming stream to a folder and pass only some meta data through the MessageBox. The Execute method
    I am using is,
    #region IComponent Members
    public IBaseMessage Execute(IPipelineContext pContext, IBaseMessage pInMsg)
    if (_largeFileLocation == null || _largeFileLocation.Length == 0)
    _largeFileLocation = Path.GetTempPath();
    if (_thresholdSize == null || _thresholdSize == 0)
    _thresholdSize = 4096;
    if (pInMsg.BodyPart.GetOriginalDataStream().Length > _thresholdSize)
    Stream originalStream = pInMsg.BodyPart.GetOriginalDataStream();
    string largeFilePath = _largeFileLocation + "\\" + pInMsg.MessageID.ToString() + ".zip";
    FileStream fs = new FileStream(largeFilePath, FileMode.Create);
    // Write message to disk
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1];
    int bytesRead = originalStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length);
    while (bytesRead != 0)
    fs.Flush();
    fs.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length);
    bytesRead = originalStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length);
    fs.Flush();
    fs.Close();
    // Create a small xml file
    string xmlInfo = "<ns0:MsgInfo xmlns:ns0='http://SampleTestPL.SchemaLocation'><LargeFilePath>" + largeFilePath + "</LargeFilePath></ns0:MsgInfo>";
    byte[] byteArray = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(xmlInfo);
    MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(byteArray);
    pInMsg.BodyPart.Data = ms;
    return pInMsg;
    #endregion
    Here I want the xml to be dropped in to the File share Eg: E:\Dropbox\PL\send and and the entire message to be dropped in the folder Eg: E:\Dropbox\sendLarge. so in the ReceivePipeline properties i set like
    And in the send port the destination i give is E:\Dropbox\PL\send.
    The issue is both the xml and the message are getting dropped in to the same folder E:\Dropbox\PL\send and the message is not getting dropped in E:\Dropbox\SendLarge. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Could not trace the issue with IDOC to file

    Hi All,
        We are facing issue with missing idoc data in the file, There were 20 idocs got generated (msg type - PAYEXT) from the payment run but only 15 of them written to the file, in the Outbound partner profiles we are using file port to create file. Noticed that all idocs were showing the same status (03) and The IDoc was written to file & file location.
       When we checked the file and found that 5 idocs data was not written to the file, but surpricingly status was showing that it was written to file. Can any one give clue / similar experience ... on this. Not sure how to track the issue ... i checked SMQ1, but nothing was locked.
    Thanks
    Satya

    Hi Kumar,
    As Jose mentioned please check the occurrence of the 6th file. It should be 0..unbounded. Also if you do this it will pass the mapping but you will get the error for the 6th file in sxmb_moni, because it would be an empty root message only. This is a known issue and I dont think we have a solution for this. But one workaround would be to create a custom mapping exception so that you have that exception in sxmb_moni when the message fails and if you have alerts then you will have this mapping exception in your alert.
    Regards,
    ---Satish
