My iPhone 6 Plus has several nicks along the edges, and so does the screen. Would Apple Care (My first free year) cover this, with a set base price I'm assuming?

Essentially, AppleCare is just an extension to your standard warranty.
Your standard warranty comes with:
1) 90 days of phone support (for setup questions, trouble-shooting, OS X issues, Apple software questions, etc.).
2) Hardware repairs for manufacturer defects, component failure, etc. (not user caused, and no cosmetic repairs).
AppleCare simply extends both of these warranties to 3 years maximum coverage (counted from the date of the computer's original sale).

My battery has been having problems, like not holding charge as long as it used to and the battery percentage sometimes freezes. I asked about it before and I was told the battery in my Macbook Pro only goes up to 1000 cycles and I'm at 937, so my battery is seeing its end soon. I've had this macbook since January 2013. I have been reading the Apple Care information and I can't find where exactly it addresses this issue. Does Apple Care cover battery replacements for cycle counts like this?
PS. I'm learning more that Apple Care doesn't really cover anything. The more I read, the more I feel like I wasted my $250 on it to be honest. I don't see anything Apple Care truly covers unless it's a problem when you first get your laptop that manufacturers did. I'll probably will be moving back to Microsoft after this Macbook goes. Half the price and longer lasting without any protection/insurance.

Since the battery is beyond one year of use, it's doubtful Apple Care will replace the battery for free.

I'm having the same problem with my battery, and from what i've read, it seems our only option is to buy a new one. You should still try to call them, they might exchange it for some specific reasons, which I'm sure they'll tell you about.

I noticed that the motherboard isn't included. Debating whether or not it's even worth it to purchase Apple Care for my next Mac.

The logic board is covered by Applecare. I, too, would not buy a laptop without warranty because they're very tricky for an amateur to fix if they go wrong.
However, it's worth noting that Applecare is a guarantee against defects, not accidents. If your MacBook is damaged in an accident then usually Applecare won't fix it. It's worth checking to see if your household insurance has accidental damage cover.
