What formula, if any

I have a column of numbers. They are target numbers for any given month. I would like to have a cell calculate the total of the column but dynamically based on todays date.
So each time I open the document the total will be relevant to the day I open it.
I know how to calculate IF the cell has a value of or above (x) and I know the function for TODAY() but I dont know how to combine the two.
Help?

Thankyou Jerrold, the plan basically worked but i had to use a little thought.
After trying to incorporate the formulas into my existing table I got all sorts of errors so i decided to recreate exactly what you had made and all was weel UNTIL the last calculation. I kept getting an error "M-T-D Act" was not valid (something to that effect)
Also, in the formulas bar the entry of G2 would always show up as "Today 'Feb 4, 2008".
So, ignoring that I studied the VLOOKUP function in the help section and decided that the range was the problem.
I entered =VLOOKUP(Today 'Feb 4, 2008',A2:F27,6)-VLOOKUP(Today 'Feb 4, 2008',A2:D27,4)
That worked.
Wouldn't have got it without the VLOOKUP from you though so thanks.

Its a matter of how you enter the formula (and not entirely intuitive). Do NOT manually add any quotes - Number does that for you. Just leave the text area blank for boolean value. If you actually type in the quotes, it reads them as a text value.

  • Can I set up a 2 (or 3) room audio system? I have iphone 3, iphone 4 and ipad 2 and need to know what hardware, if any, I need for this (airport express?, apple TV?) Also, would I use icloud or home sharing?

I simply want to send music from my itunes to 2 different rooms at the same time. Is it possible? I have iphone3, iphone4 and ipad2 if that helps.
Also, would I use icloud or home sharing? Sorry for the noob question, any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

The answer is not if you use iTunes.
The TC is NOT an iTunes server.. it is not a media device at all. It is a backup location for Time Machine.
You need a computer in the network which stores the iTunes library and you can then play it via the ipad.
A mini with a large USB drive plugged in will work fine.. it doesn't need to be new.. a couple of years old mini will work just as well.
As an extention to this, can we use multiple Airport expresses plugged into mutiple sound systems to simultaneously access different music from the same time capsule?
I am not sure.. there will be network limitations to this.
Look up how to use itunes in a network.

You would do better perhaps posting the question in iTunes section.. if as I guess you are actually using iTunes.

Iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
    What have you tried?

  • I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula can I use?

I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula or expression can I use.
I am using a Rain Wise product that converts pulses to an analog value.  The Rain Wise device can be
set to measure up to 1", 5", or 10".  I will be setting the unit to 10 inches in increments of 0.01 inches.
What I would like to do is everytime the signal increments I would like to count it as 0.01 then after reaching
a period of time whether it be a day or a month reset back to zero.
Need some advise on this problem.

    Hello Ryan,
Lookout gets a Modbus over Ethernet signal which originates as a 4-20mA input to a Moxa Ethernet I/O Module (E1240) in the field.  In Lookout I created a ModbusEthernet Driver and a tag which scales 0 - 65534 RAW to 0-10 Eng.  [0 - 10 is inches of rain]  Also, another piece of information is that after the rain gauge maxes out at 10 inches it will zero out and start over.
I though the accumulator was time based and took a sample over a specific time period, for instance, one sample every 30 seconds then accumulate.  If this is so then if I have 5 inches of rain and then it stopped raining, then 30 seconds latter it would sample, it would see 5 inches and add that to be 10 inches when actually it had only rained 5 inches.
I really need some help with this process,

No you don't. All currently available commercial hard drives and SSDs have the same SATA connectors in the exact same place.
As to being plug and play that is up to interpretation. The drive will plug into the cable but then you have to partition and format the drive for the Mac OS X operating system and then install OS X on it or restore from a Time Machine backup or Clone from your original drive to the SSD. Those things aren't necessarily Plug & Play. Not hard, just time consuming. Some more than the others.

  • A simple percentage? How does one add a percentage to a number? If I have 100 and I want to add 15% and get a total, what formula would I use?

How does one add a percentage to a number? If I have 100 and I want to add 15% and get a total, what formula would I use?

You can do something like this:
    D2=B2*(1+C2/100)
this means in the cell D2 type the following "=B2*(1+C2/100)"... leave out the double quotes

  • What formula do I use to show the net value (less 23% tax).

In Numbers, what formula do I use to show the net value (i.e. less 23% tax).

    thejuddo writes:
"$100 plus sales tax of 23% would be $123.00 but in order to get the net value of $123.00 less the tax I would have to divide by 1.23 not multiply by 23% and then minus it."
    Correct;
The 23% tax is 23 one hundredths of the base amount, and is applied to that amount. As a formula, this can be stated as:
    =B2+B2*C2
    or
    =B2*(1+C2)
(either applying to the data arrangement shown in the top table, and entered in  D2 of that table)
In the other direction, though (bottom table), we start with the Gross amount and the Tax rate as known quantities, from which we are to determine the base amount, remembering that the 23% Tax rate is 23% of the Base amount, not 23% of the Gross amount.
Rewriting the two formulas above as equations, with g, b, and t as the variables, we get:
    g = b + (b * t)
    g = b(1+t)
    Solving the second for b:
    b - g/(1+t)
Expressed as a formula (with the data as arranged in the bottom table, and the formula in D2):
    D2: =B2/(1+C2)
In both directions, it may be prudent to round the result to the nearer hundredth, as done here for the calculation immediately above:
    =ROUND(B2/(1+C2),2)

    Barry

iTunes Radio is not yet available in Canada.
According to this Apple Support page, it is currently only available in the US and Australia which is revealed half-way down the page, between the two matrices.
For those with an aversion to scrolling, or with TL;DR issues, simply ⌘-F "iTunes Radio availability by country".

If you live behind your home router, then it will also do nothing as your router keeps the outside world from seeing your Mac anyway.

  • What laptop (if any) will be reliable for DVCPRO HD ?

    Hi folks,
What laptop (if any) will be reliable for DVCPRO HD ?
The description says that the hard drives must be 7200, AND since a lot of data will be processed, the processer must be very fast, too.
I want to take this laptop on locations, so, it must be VERY reliable.
BUT, I won't do anything else with it but using as a recorder, so, I don't need a too sophisticated one, I mean, I don't want to go too crazy on the price!!!... :):):)
    Thank you, Abe.

What problems, if any, has anyone had by changing to iCloud with their iWeb pages?

The iWeb Application will still run after Mobile Me will be turned off; you can export your web pages to a folder on your hard disk and use ftp to upload the pages to another hosting service.
The generated webpages however will refer to icons located on the mobile me server. To make the forward/backward arrows in slide shows work again you will have to patch the iWeb Application. See Old Toad's tutorial on how to do this:
    Modify the iWeb Application: http://oldtoadstutorials.net/No.26.html
Also there is a nice tutorial on how to transit from Mobile Me to another service; see Roger Wilmut's page here:
