What iOS apps access PDF files in the cloud?

I know Goodreader sees the cloud. What other iOS apps can see PDF files in the apple cloud?

The cloud is not really a single thing remember.  Cloud computing and cloud storage are just generic terms for distributed computing and/or storage on a network accessable service.  There are many "cloud" storage options:
iCloud
Dropbox
Box.net
SugarSync
4Shared
Google Drive
Skydrive
...and the list goes on growing every day
Many apps, like Goodreader, will work with some, many or all of these, ONCE you configure your account settings in the app itself. So you can create an account with whichever service or services you wish to use, and then start using that account to move your files to and from any and all apps that allow a connection to that service.
I use box.net primarily to store my pdf files, and I then connect to them from GoodReader, PDF Expert or iAnnotate, not to mention QuickOffice, or Goodnotes, or Documents by Readdle or whatever app I choose to read/edit/markup the pdf in.
You will need to download the pdf into each and every app you wish to use it in on the iPad, as with a few exceptions, apps cannot share content.  That's why you use the cloud (meaning nothing more than, online) storage as your master location for your documents.

    Yes. But it depends on what "cloud" yuo are referring to. Perhaps you should explain what you are attempting or want to do in a little more detail.

  • Accessing PDF files outside the web application

    Hi,
    I have deployed a web application Tomcat / webapps/ Moto.
    The Tomcat / webapps / Moto / resource.jsp file has links
    to a pdf file located outside the Moto web app.
    The pdf file is in Tomcat / webapps / doc / BAServerConfig.pdf.
    Now, I'm unable to access this pdf from the resource.jsp page.
    Is there any way i can do this?
    I'm not supposed to move this pdf file to any location.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance,
    Phani

    I havent tested, but if it doesn't work, it should give you the idea:
    <%@ page contentType="application/pdf;charset=TIS-620" %><% response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename="+request.getParameter("id").substring(request.getParameter("id").lastIndexOf("/")+1));
      try{
        FileInputStream fis=new FileInputStream(request.getParameter("id"));
        ByteArrayOutputStream baos=new ByteArrayOutputStream();
        byte buffer[]=new byte[1024];
        int length;
        while((length=fis.read(buffer))>=0) baos.write(buffer, 0, length);
        baos.writeTo(response.getOutputStream());
      catch(Exception e){
        throw new ServletException(e);
    %>Be aware to not to broke ... %><%..... with spaces or return characters.
    And if this work, you can convert it to a servlet and enter corresponding entries in web.xml file.
    Hope this help,

  • Why can you not upload a pdf file to the cloud?

    Other online storage services allow PDF files to be uploaded; but not iCloud. Why not?

    You can do it with Air Doc as I've already said, there's an app for the mobile device and an application in the MAS for the MAC.
    As I posted to you already, as far as I can see Air Doc only lets you upload to the iCloud from iOS, not OS X.  I'd would welcome instructions about how to make it upload from OS X if you know how.

  • How to access pdf documents in the cloud from an iOS device?

    Once a PDF document is saved in icloud, how do I access it from the iPad or the iPhone? Which app is required?

    I use GoodReader, something like $10 in the app store for the iPad, which has iCloud capability for file source/saving.  Outstanding PDF reader that also handles MOV files as well.

    Sorry we do not support this. What you can do though is add a Formatted Text element and add a link to a PDF. To insert a link add some text, select the text and right click on the text (or look under the Insert menu in the top right of the scene)

  • How to upload words, exel, PDF file from the pc via itune to the iPad, and where will the uploaded file be saved? In the apps?

    How to upload words, exel, PDF file from the pc via itune to the iPad, and where will the uploaded file be saved? In the apps?

    You will need an app (or apps) on your iPad that is capable of reading the documents, as they will be saved with the app - if you don't have such an app then there is nothing to transfer them to or to read/access them.
    One method of transferring them is toconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes, select it's app tab, and then scroll to the bottom of it - you should the apps That you've got that are capable of file-sharing (if you've got any).  Selecting/high-lighting one of them should then allow you to add files to it via the box to the right of it.
    An alternative way to get the documents onto your iPad is if the app that you want to transfer them to has a wifi setting, which will then allow you to transfer the documents wirelessly. You can also send the documents to yourself as attachments and then use Mail's 'open in' facility to copy them into your chosen app.
    Edit : more info on file sharing from the manual :
    File Sharing lets you transfer files between iPad and your computer. You can share files created with a compatible app and saved in a supported format.
    Apps that support file sharing appear in the File Sharing Apps list in iTunes. For each app, the Files list shows the documents that are on iPad. See the app’s documentation for how it shares files; not all apps support this feature.
    Connect iPad to your computer.
    In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
    In the File Sharing section, select an app from the list on the left.
    On the right, select the file you want to transfer, then click “Save to” and choose a destination on your computer.
    Transfer a file from your computer to iPad:
    Connect iPad to your computer.
    In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
    In the File Sharing section, click Add.
    Select a file, then click Choose (Mac) or OK (PC).
    The file is transferred to your device and can be opened using an app that supports that file type. To transfer more than one file, select each additional file.
    Delete a file from iPad: Select the file in the Files list, then tap Delete.

  • Lately pdf files from the Web do not display properly; what is wrong and how can I fix it so I don't have to use IE?

    I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?

    My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh
    I must agree with pgwebgirl!

  • What can I do to rectify the situation in which Firefox will not open pdf files in the browser, even though I have already used all the help suggestions to no avail?

    I have tried everything Mozilla has suggested. Still when I click on a pdf, I get the message that the browser cannot open a pdf. I have gone through the help protocol, and it does not work.
    I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it, and still not able to open pdf files within the browser.
    What else do I do, except go to IE or Chrome and just leave Firefox completely???

    A possible cause is the presence of a PDF plugin from an older Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

    You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.

  • Can I access PDF files?

    Can I access PDF files?

    To expand on Johnathan's very precise reply:
    PDFs can be easily read on iOS devices using apps such as iBooks, Goodreader and a myriad of others. You have to open the PDF file in one of these apps. Typically, if you receive a PDF via email, if you tap and hold on the PDF attachment icon in Mail, you will get a dialogue offering you a chance to "Open In..." and if you have PDF reading apps on your iPad, you will see a list. Choose one and the PDF will open in that app.
