  • Struts and JBO-25301 error

    Hi!
    I am working on a Struts-based JSP BC4J application. I have created just one application module in which I have a short method for validating usernames and passwords. The try section of the method is listed below:
    try
    String func = "select my_column from my_table where upper(username) = '" + user.toUpperCase() + "' and password = '" + password + "'" ;
    Statement stmt = this.getDBTransaction().createStatement(0);
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(func);
    The line where I create the statement gives the following exception:
    JBO-25301: Application module is not a root app module but has no parent
    Documentation says:
    JBO-25301: InvalidOwnerException
    Cause: While traversing the parenthood chain for application modules, a child application module was found with no container (parent) application module.
    Action: If this application has added custom business component classes, it may be that the application code is attempting to access a child application module before it is fully initialized. If this is not the case, this error probably represents some internal error in BC4J framework, in which case contact BC4J Technical Support.
    Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help!

    I'd recommend downloading and checking out the BC4J Toy Store Demo from here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/jdev/bc4jtoystore/content.html
    it contains an example custom method in the toystore.model.services.ToyStoreService application module that shows a best-practice technique for doing this kind of registered-user check without resorting to hand-coding JDBC prepared statements and in a way that can have good database reuse of the SQL statement with bind variables.

  • JBO-25301: InvalidOwnerException [Not occurs Every Time]

    Hello Everybody,
    We are facing a problem specially related to the above specific error. When we do the transaction say using 15 users load it works perfectly fine, but when we try to do the transaction for 20 users load at the same time, some transactions starts getting failed we started getting the below Exception.
    Also, in this application it seems to be a customized implementation of BC4J. It is not using any bc4j.xcfg configuration file to do any AMPool Setting and seems to be using the default values.

    Can anybody would be able to help us out how can we make sure the root application module will not get set with Null value irrespective of the number of transactions we perform or the number of users try to access doing the transaction? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kishore

    Sorry, I'm not familiar with this kind of development.
    As a general rule you only turn application module pooling off in a test scenario. So never do it in a production environment.
    To get more info about activation/passivation you can search the forum (I wrote a couple of times about it here) and read the chapter 36 and 37 in the latest 'Fusion Developer’s Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework'. It give a good overview over the topic and the things behind it. As far as I can tell the information is valied for the old version too.

  • JBO-25301 - accessing DBTransaction  in AMImpl

    Hi All,
    I am trying to perform some initialization when the AM is instantiated. Therefore I have
    called a method from AMImpl constructor and try to access DBTransaction .
    The following exception is thrown when we try to access DBTransaction.
    Exception :
    Exception : oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25301: Application module TestAMImpl_30 is not a root app module but has no parent
    Sample Code :
    public class TestAMImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl {
         public TestAMImpl() {
         super();
         initMethod();
         public void initMethod(){
              DBTransaction dbTransaction = getDBTransaction(); // Exception is thrown
    }

    This won't work. As a rule you should not use the constructor for accessing a transaction as there is none at this point in the life cycle of the (root) am.
    Check out this post {thread:id=2353163} which should help you to fine the right method to overwrite (I guess onAfterConnect() or onPrepareSession() are candidates).

  • What causes JBO-33001: Cannot find the configuration file /common/bc4j.xcfg

    I know that the jbo exception message:
    JBO-33001: Cannot find the configuration file /common/bc4j.xcfg
    can be caused by several things including the file really not being there. But in my current case, I know it is there and can be found throgh the classpath, because I actually find it using Configuration.buildConfigurationFileNameFromClassPath and
    Configuration.getConfiguration just before calling Configuration.createRootApplicationModule. Is there any way to turn on a diagnostic to find out what is really wrong?
    I would also like to request an enhancement to give meaningful messages in the jbo exception.
    Roger

    This is on jdev 903 with patch running a local application attempting to connect to standalone OC4J 903. I think the error occurs before there is ever any attempt to make the connection to OC4J. Having one big catch-all exception for everything that can go wrong in creating the AM is pretty poor. I know in the past I have done manual editing of bc4j.xcfg and XML sentax errors cause exactly the same exception as not having the file at all. That is why I would at least like a list of all the causes behind the exception so I can go through and check them all.
    Thanks,
    Roger

  • What does jbo.ampool.dynamicjdbccredentials do?

    Can someone provide a more detailed explanation of this AM configuration property than what is in the documentation?
    jbo.ampool.dynamicjdbccredentials
    The documentation simply says:
    Enables additional pooling lifecycle events to allow developer-written code to change the database credentials (username/password) each time a new user session begins to use the application module.
    This feature is enabled by default (true), however this setting is a necessary but not sufficient condition to implement the feature. The complete implementation requires additional developer-written code.
    I am not actually changing the database credentials, but I am using the AM method, prepareSession, to set an Oracle Context (CREATE CONTEXT command in DDL) and the context settings must remain the same or be reset before any database action by the same user.

    John,
    As far as I understand it, this parameter enables the custom credential and session cookie providers to be called. It should not have an impact upon your use of prepareSession(), as it's only needed if you need to switch the actual user that is being used to connect to the database.

  • What first JBO deployment to ORACLE must contain

    Hi All!
    I have some troubles with deployeed JBO classes into Oracle.
    First of all I get exception 25222: Unable to Create Application Module.
    So, I decide to check my classes and run query:

    and get a lot of invalid objects!!!
    I try to reload JBO runtime with
    loadjava ... -resolve -verbose jbomt.zip
    command
    In output I can see errors like:

    How I can understand all of this classes is in jbomt.zip archive.
    Can anybody give me a list all of files for first JBO to Oracle deployement.
    Thanks forehand
    Mike
    null

    Mike,
    If you deploy your BC4J application module directly from JDeveloper, all the appropriate classes should be loaded for you.
    If you are loading everything yourself using loadjava, you will need the following:
    For running appmodule as CORBA objects
    jbomt.zip, jbodomorcl.zip, jboo8i.zip
    For running appmodule session beans
    jbomt.zip, jbodomorcl.zip, jboejb.jar
    For running container managed persistence
    jbomt.zip, jbodomorcl.zip, jbocmp.jar
    Use the following syntax:
    loadjava -u <user>/<passwd>@<host>:<port>:<sid> -thin -r -grant "PUBLIC,SYS" jbomt.jar jbodomorcl.zip other.jar
    In other words, load them all at once rather than one at a time.

  • JBO-33008 Error finding application context

    Can anyone explain what causes JBO-33008 or where I can find more information on the exception. I have been unable to find any documentation (even the help in JDev goes from 34001 to 55001). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • JBO-26032: Operation getRow is invalid... - selectOne*, backing bean

    Hi,
    I'm wondering why the exception JBO-26032 occurs,
    I have the following code in backing bean, it executes on valueChangeEvent (on selectOneChoice, selectOne* - always the same problem). Auto-submit is set to true.
                 DCIteratorBinding dciter = (DCIteratorBinding)  bindingContainer.get("MyView2Iterator");
                 ViewObject myView = dciter.getViewObject();
                 ViewCriteria vc =  myView.createViewCriteria();
                 ViewCriteriaRow vcRow = vc.createViewCriteriaRow();
                 vcRow.setAttribute("date_finished", "IS NOT NULL");
                 vc.addElement(vcRow);
                 myView.applyViewCriteria(vc);
                 dciter.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("MyView2Iterator").setFindMode(true);
                 myView.clearCache();
                 dciter.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("MyView2Iterator").executeQuery();The exception(JBO-26032) occur somewhere after the above method finishes successfuly.
    Strangely, after that i can click Execute button, and adf table displays found results.
    (Project is ADF BC, JSF)
    What is JBO-26032?
    The documentation i found says:
    [cite]
    Cause: The attempted operation is invalid for a ViewCriteria or ViewCriteriaRow.
    Action: Remove code that attempts this operation.
    [cite]
    But that doesn't help much, since i did not wrote the code that attempts this operation. At least, i think so.
    Did I forgot to do something in the backing bean code?

    thanks,
    I used setFindMode(), because i thought i have to put iterator into find mode if i want criteria to take effect. I was wrong. Now, i removed call to setFindMode() and it is working fine.
    I mean, almost fine, everytime selectOne* value changes, i get following warning:
    Mar 1, 2007 6:45:47 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.binding.FacesCtrlRangeBinding$FacesModel setRowKey
    WARNING: row is null for rowKey:oracle.jbo.Key[1 ]Is it safe to ignore this warning?

  • "Application module  is not a root app module but has no parent"

    This is to follow up on my answered question on rootAN substitution
    Re: "login session has expired" after am substitution
    I am working on an OAF extension.
    I have a new LOV region. I extended (to be substituted) the seeded VO, call it xxVO. And I have three custom methods using this xxVO that are called from processFormRequest of my controller which extends the seeded controller.
    So putting these methods in rootAM and AM substitution didn't work as some folks pointed out.
    So I created xxAM (extends root AM), put xxVO in xxAM’s data model and put my methods in xxAM, set this xxAM as AMDefinition for my custom LOV region.
    In my controller I do
    OAApplicationModule xxAM = new xxprg.oracle.apps.icx.por.req.server.xxprgRequisitionAMImpl();
    But I am getting
    => oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25301: Application module is not a root app module but has no parent
    at
    xxAM.invokeMethod("handleChangeRequester", parameters);
    I found a few posts on the same topic. One advise was to not instantiate ‘new’ AM but do something like this
    Xo2cAcctOviewExtAMImpl amExt = (Xo2cAcctOviewExtAMImpl )pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    In this example I am confused about the fact that ‘getApplicationModule(webBean);’ which is used in the signature of the processFormRequest will return a ‘rootAM’, is this correct?
    There was another workaround mentioned in other posts to not use xxAM at all but build a class to mimic an xxAM passing all needed values that custom methods require. In which case how(or better where) do I instantiate xxVO since now xxVO won’t be part of any AM data model?
    Can someone please clarify.
    Thank you
    Anatoliy

    Pratap,
    Thank you for the response.
    The reason I need to use new xxCO on the page is this.
    Seeded page CheckoutLinesPG.
    It has advanced table on it where every column has it's one external region.
    The new LOV region xxRN is put on a page also under this table new column.
    1. When a requester (seeded region on the seeded page) is changed then my xxLOV should reflect the change and be populated according to what is selected in the Requester LOV.
    2. When one-time address is added (another seeded region on the seeded page) my xxLOV should be disabled, when one time address taken out - enabled again.
    So xxCO should apply to the whole page.
    The VO behind advanced table PoRequisitionLinesVO is extended with 2 additional attributes and will substitute, the new xxVO is under xxAM data model.
    All works fine with my methods in the seeded RequisitionAM which I get a handle to in the xxCO. But I don;t know how to get the handle to the xxAM if I put my methods there.
    Thanks,
    Anatoliy
    P.S. just fyi - I know it is not the recommended approach but what I did for now I put all calls into the controller - in the controller I can get a handle to root AM, through that I am getting a handle to xxVO which (!) is substituted during runtime with my xxVO. But if you can figure out how to get a handle to xxAM in my case it will be great.

    The application module may not have been completely constructed and initialized when you invoke the getOADBTransaction api in the constructor.
    Check whether you have the same issue while invoking getOADBTransaction api outside the constructor.

  • Customizing Error Message in Jsp app.?

    Hi,
    In my small application created by JDev10g wizard, I would like to customize errors received from database on dml operations before showing on jsp page. How/Where could I capture the error?
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    I have the same functionality with the automatic commit in the Datahandler onEvent (update/delete and create). I ran into the same "OnEvent" problem. I think the problem is the result of having the "<jbo:Row>" tag inside of a try/catch block. From my experiments, I was able to determine that the errors almost always related to some sort of row handling. They always happened after the code within the try/catch block failed. I found that it would work fine with just the commit inside the try catch block. As soon as I tried to catch an error in the "<jbo:Row>" tag everything went screwy. This is no good considering that I have custom errors that are thrown when you try to create/update an attribute (before commiting!).
    So far, I have been able to work around this somewhat. I don't get any errors if I create a Row object programitically without the Oracle convenience tags. I tested this with the OnEvent(Delete) function because it is the easiest to replicate. Here is the code that I have that works for me:
    <jbo:OnEvent name="delete">
    <% // get the row from the parameter jboRowKey which is created automatically when you have addRowKey=true on your URL/Form event tag (default behaviour)
    Row rowDelete = ds.getRowFromKey(params.getParameter("jboRowKey")); %>
    <% try { %>
    // call the remove() method of the entity you can overide this method if you want (I have). To do this, check the relevant box from the entity's java tab.
    rowDelete.remove();
    // commit this action right away
    ds.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();
    } catch (JboException ex) { %>
    // Catching those JboExceptions we created in the EntityImpl.java file
    <h3 class="error">Error</h3>
    <%=ex%>
    <% // since it failed, rollback the transaction. Since I am commiting everything this will only rollback the delete command. I call it just in case the framework doesn't do this somewhere else! :)
    ds.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().rollback();
    } %>
    </jbo:OnEvent>
    I haven't been able to repeat this for the update or create OnEvents because they are much more complicated. Let me know if something like this works for you! Also let me know if you find a way to do this for create/update without being far too complicated.
    If you are interested to find out what the <jbo:Row> tag does (to replicate it's behaviour perhaps?) you can find the code. It should be located in this file:
    C:\<jdevDir>\BC4J\src\bc4jhtmlsrc.zip
    If you open it you will find RowTag.java (or something) and that is what JDeveloper runs when you use the Row tag.
    Hope this helps a bit!

  • Java.lang.ClassCastException problem with ApplicationModuleImpl

    Hi, to whom this may be familiar:
    This is from a oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataAction class:
    public class SwitchDAAction extends DataAction
      protected void findForward(DataActionContext actionContext) throws Exception
        super.findForward(actionContext);
        ZBModuleImpl svc = (ZBModuleImpl) actionContext.getBindingContext().findDataControl("ZBModuleDataControl").getDataProvider();
        BillViewImpl oneUser = svc.getBillView1();
    ...ZBModuleImpl is an application module which extends oracle.lbo.server.ApplicationModuleImpl.
    As the last statement indicates, the purpose is to obtain an instance of a view object that is already in the application.
    There is no error at compilation. However, when the application runs, the embedded oc4j gives an error:
    WARNING: Unhandled Exception thrown: class java.lang.ClassCastExceptionand in the browser the first line in the "500 Internal Server Error", shown below, pin-points to the line of code that cast Object to ZBModuleImpl:
    at zb.view.SwitchDAAction.findForward(SwitchDAAction.java:18)I broke up the line into multiple lines to see where exactly the problem is:
    public class SwitchDAAction extends DataAction
      protected void findForward(DataActionContext actionContext) throws Exception
        super.findForward(actionContext);
        BindingContext bdCtx = actionContext.getBindingContext();
        DCDataControl dc = bdCtx.findDataControl("ZBModuleDataControl");
        Object dpd = dc.getDataProvider();
        ZBModuleImpl svc = (ZBModuleImpl) dpd;
        BillViewImpl oneUser = svc.getBillView1();
    ...The error messages always point to that line that does data type casting.
    What is the problem and what can be done to fix it? (I am using JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0).
    Thanks for your help!
    Newman

    Hi, Valery and Anton:
    Sorry I did not mention the version of Jdev I am using in my last posting. It is 10.1.2. It is so precious someone around still know the older versions.
    Anton, since mine is an older version, I tried to set the custom properties. The name of my application is ZB and the name of the application module is ZBModuleImpl. The name of the view object I am trying to get an instance of is BillViewimpl.
    In the Application Module Editor for ZBModule, at the Custom Properties node, there are names for three properties in the drop-down list: DESCRIPTION, FILE_NAME, DATA_CONTROL_NAME. Not knowing what they are and what they are for, I tried to add two name/value pairs: DESCRIPTION/ZB and DATA_CONTROL_NAME/ZBModuleDataControl. And for the last method on the problem line of code I tried both getDataProvider() and getApplicationModule(), in the following combinations, and none of them work out:
                                                   getDataProvider()     getApplicationModule()
    DESCRIPTION/ZB (only)                                   X                       X
    DATA_CONTROL_NAME/ZBModuleDataControl (only)            X                       X
    (both)                                                  X                       XPlease correct me where I did wrong. I wonder what oracle.jbo.common.ws.WSApplicationModuleImpl is. I even tried
    BillViewImpl oneUser = (ZBModuleImpl) actionContext.getBindingContext().findDataControl("ZBModuleDataControl").getApplicationModule().findApplicationModule("ZBModuleImpl");
    and
    BillViewImpl oneUser = ((ZBModuleImpl) actionContext.getBindingContext().findDataControl("ZBModuleDataControl").getApplicationModule()getApplicationModule()).findViewObject("BillViewImpl");But the problem is always with the typecasting from ApplicationModule to ZBModuleImpl. Is there anything that WSApplicationModuleImpl can do to help out?
    Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Query regarding passivation and PS_TXN tables

    Hi All ,
    I am working on a read only Dashboard UI where the DB user has only read privileges.
    The jbo.server.internal_connection uses the same DB connection to create PS_TXN & PS_TXN_SEQ tables which fails for obvious reasons & I get the error -
    "Couldnot create persistence table PS_TXN_seq".
    I have disabled passivation at all the VO levels and also disabled jbo.isSupportsPassivation to be false at the AMLocal level , but still I am getting this error.
    I have also increased the initial AM pool size in bc4j.xcfg & Connection Pool at the weblogic server level to avoid snapshots been written to this table.
    Is there any way I can prevent any interaction with this table as the client too is not interested in any kind of passivation to happen for the time being.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply Chris.
    Chris Muir wrote:
    You might be taking the wrong approach to solving this. Rather than disabling the AM pooling (which btw is not supported by Oracle) to the database, instead you can get ADF to passivate to file or memory of the app server.I am confused as to what exactly jbo.ampool.issupportspassivation = false does then ? I read on one of the blogs that its a viable use case for Programatic VOs ?
    Also regarding passivating to file system as per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/bcstatemgmt.htm#ADFFD1307 , its not really a recommended approach.. hence was not going for that.
    Can you please throw some more light ?
    Thanks
