What is the difference of  public-read and  public-read protected

I have noticed that the access of some variables in API document is public-read protected. I tried the following code. They seem all the same.
class FatherClass{
public-read var a;
public-read protected var b;
init{
    a=1;
    println(a);
    b=1;
    println(b);
class SubClass extends FatherClass{
    init{
        a=4;
        println(a);
        b=4;
        println(b);
var subClass=SubClass{};

As you see in my code, subclass can write the variable with either public-read and public-read protected. What write access do the public-read protected widen? That's because your subclass is in the same script as the variable. Move the subclass to a separate script and it would not be able to write when the access is public-read.
"public-read" = any code can read, code in the same script can write.
"public-read protected" = any code can read, code in the same script, in the same package or in a subclass can write.

  • What is the difference between private API and public API??

    Hi,
    I came accross the terms private API and Public API ?
    what are these APIs and what is the difference between them??
    Thanks and Regards,
    Soham

    Soham,
    Publicly Callable Business Process APIs are the list of supported and published APIs. Direct calls to any other routines are not supported, unless explicitly specified, because API validation and logic steps will be bypassed. Many other packages include procedures and functions, which may be called from the API code itself.

  • What's the difference between SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 Team Sites?

    Hi there,
    What are the differences between SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 Team Sites?
    If I would like to develop a professional corporate website with SharePoint technology (because the company allready uses Office 365), do you recommend using SharePoint 2013 (in the cloud) or Office 365 Team Sites? And why?
    Thank you very much!

    You cannot make SPO Team Sites anonymous-enabled, therefor they're a moot point for a public website.
    While slightly out of date, take a look at this:

  • What is the difference between Instance variable and Global variable?

    Hi folks,
    Could you please explain me, "what is the difference between Instance variable and Global variable?"
    Are they really same or not?
    --Subbu

    Hi flounder,
    I too know that there is no such a term GLOBAL in java.
    generally people use to say a variable which is accessible throught out the class or file has global access
    and that will be called as a global variable...
    my point is very much similar to what Looce said.
    In simple that is not a technical term, but just a causual term.
    In technically my question is, "What is the difference between a instance variable and public variable?".
    Hi looce,
    Thanks for the reply. even thats what my understanding too....in order to confirm that i raised this question..
    Your reply has given a clear answer...... thanks again.

  • What is the difference between document class and normal class

    Hi,
    Please let me know what is the difference between document class and normal class.
    And I have no idea which class should call as document class or call as an object.
    Thanks
    -Actionscript Developer

    the document class is invoked immediately when your swf opens.  the document class must subclass the sprite or movieclip class.
    all other classes are invoked explicitly with code and need not subclass any other class.

  • What is the difference between Business System and Business Service?

    Hi
    Please tell me what is the difference between Business System and Business Service...? In real time at what situation we will use Business System and in what situations we will use Business Service..? Please help me
    Best Regards
    Ravi Shankar B

    HI,
    Business system:
    If you want to address a particular business system as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.
    A business system is an actual application system in a system landscape. A business system (service) comprises information about the inbound and outbound interfaces and the software component versions of the business system.
    You usually use business system services when configuring internal company processes.
    Business Service:
    If you want to address an abstract business entity as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.
    Using a business service, you can define the technical or business subunits of the companies involved and then assign them the relevant interfaces.
    You usually use business services when configuring cross-company processes. In this case, you only make your interfaces known to the business partners involved and either do not make any details about your own system landscape available, or only specific details.
    For example, you can define RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) as business services.
    Regards,
    Sudheer.

  • What's the difference between EQ off and flat?

    What is the difference between EQ off and flat? Are all the frequency's at the same place as if it were flat?

    OFF uses iTunes EQ settings, if any.
    FLAT overrides iTunes EQ settings, if any
    Close.
    In Flat, if a song has a preset EQ set in iTunes, it
    will use that preset, otherwise it does not use any
    EQ.
    In Off, the EQ is not used at all.
    Page 28 of the very fine manual for 2n Gen nano:
    Using the Equalizer
    You can use equalizer presets to change the sound on iPod nano to suit a particular music genre or style. For example, to make rock music sound better, set the equalizer to Rock. To use the equalizer to change the sound on iPod nano:
    Choose Settings > EQ and choose an equalizer preset.
    If you assigned an equalizer preset to a song in iTunes and the iPod nano equalizer is set to Off, the song plays using the iTunes setting. See iTunes Help for more information.
    Hmmmm...? There's nano's EQ and iTunes' EQ...

    Just re-install a new OS X Lion. On the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, what's the difference between "Full Name" and "Account Name"?

    And yes, the first account you set up will be an administrator.

  • What's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification?

    A friend has been bugging me about this, does anyone know what's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification" in an iPhone app?

    In a nutshell, local notifications are popup notifications from applications on your phone, based on data that's already on the local phone.  Push notifications are popup notifications you get when new info (like an email, tweet, or update from something like Facebook) gets pushed to your device from a server.

    that the plug ins might be in another file and may not work

  • What's the difference between segment filtering and reduced message type

    Hi gurus,
    What's the difference between segment filtering and reduced message type? It seems they have the same functionality: Reduce the segment while idoc is generated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    BD53 is for IDoc Reduction.
    this allows you to create a reduced message based upon a standard message type.If you want see mandatory fields. go to T-coe BD53 and give one standard messege type name and eg: matmas
    there mandatory fields will be in Green color..
    And BD56- This transaction is used to filter out segments of IDocs for combination of sender and receiver. This is usefull in scenarios where a standard IDoc with many segments is used but the receiving partner is only interested in some of the segments
    the table related to this transation is TBD20
      please go through below blog you have an idea abt that,
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/ReducedMessageTypes

  • What's the difference between "controlfile autobackup" and "snapshot contro

    Hi All,
    What's the difference between "controlfile autobackup" and "snapshot controlfile" in RMAN configure ? Both are controlfile backups, what the difference between the controlfiles they backup ? Why there are two of these options ?
    thanks

    RMAN creates a control file snapshot to perform catalog resync operations. Control file autobackup will automatically create a backup of the control file whenever there are database structure changes.
