What is the "other" data on my ipod after i updated my os

what is the "other" data on my ipod after i updated my os? and can i remove it? and how do i pair up devices via bluetooth?

Hi
First, the "Others" what you see in iTunes when you're iDevice was plugged in, is where the iOS installed. It's the system core of your iDevice.
2nd - That ia hevn't used before, bluetooth pairing. The last time I tested it, I failed.
and now you're not the only one who needs help in bluetooth pairing, LOL...

What means the OTHER category on my iPod Touch 4th Gen ?
Because it take A LOTS of my stockage... ~7.5GB / 32GB...

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

• What is the "Other" data on my iPhone? I'm up to 7 gigs of it

I've tried deleting apps pictures messages everything. I restored once and it was fine for a few weeks then it came back. Anyone have any suggestions?

I got the answer off another thread I was reading. Just trying to spread it around now.
Go to:
Settings>General>Usage
Now for me, I have about 6GB of music on mine. What I did was select music, Now Left swipe the All Music row and press delete. After that I opened up my phone on iTunes and synced it like normal. The other data was gone after that.
Hope this helps everyone!

• HT1386 What is the other data in itunes window?

I have an iPod touch 4th gen. When i connect it to iTunes it says that other data is 1gb.What is it?

It includes items that do not fit into the other specific categories listed. That is why it is called "other". Some apps store items there and I think song artwork is also stored there as well as other things. If the other gets very large that usually indicates that it included corrupted files and restoring the iPod will get rid of the corrupted files.
1G is on cusp of showing that it has corrupted files. You can try restoring from backup and see if that reduces the other.

• What is the "other" section on my ipod and how do i remove it

hi, im not the most ipod literate user in the world, but i have heaps of storage space being used in the section other. what is in there and how do i take it off?

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
"Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 100Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 1.5Gb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.

• What is the other data on my iPhone in itunes

Not sure what other is and it is filling up my iphone. I can't see what the data is. Can anyone help?

It's miscellaneous. Space used by apps on your phone, temporary files, system files, caches, etc. It is normal to have it, nothing to worry about.

You need to restore your iPod. Usually restoring from backup works.

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

• I restored my ipod and i now have 35.66GB of other data on my ipod and it only sinked my music that i bought on itunes how do i fix this?

I restored my ipod and i now have 35.66GB of other data on my ipod and it only sinked my music that i bought on itunes how do i fix this? i have an ipod 5 with ios 7.1.2. ive tried restarting my computer restarting my ipod and restoring it. i also tried to delete apps nothing works.

This happened to me with the same device. I wouldn't worry about having it just say other as that is just information, if you really need to know what is using the most of your device's storage to to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage and that will tell you what apps are using in terms of your storage. Besides that, "other" is just iTunes knowing that there is information, how much there is, just not what it is. So syncing your device a few times and letting it stay plugged in should allow iTunes to recognize what information is on your iPod. Hope I could help!

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

• My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. What do you do when you buy a new computer or have a new hard drive? Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

See this article for details: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Or do this:
Make sure your Mac is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your MacBook.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

• TS1503 How do I clear the 'other data' on my iPhone 4S? It is using 25% of the available memory. I do not want to have to wipe it and then reset every thing I use. That's why I have restore. Except restore puts the other data back on the phone.

I've come to the conclusion that Apple is no better than Microsoft. There was a functional iTunes. I could sync music, playlists, etc; across my iPad and iPhone. I can't now. It now eats up storage on my devices with 'other data', and Apple is silent on what is going on. I currently have 2 iMacs, 2 iPads, a Macbook Pro, and an AirBook Pro. I will stop purchasing Apple products. It is a royal pain to fix anything. This support page tries my patience to use. I used to enjoy working with Apple products, simply because they functioned and where intuitive to use. No more. Music is impossible to sync across platforms using the same account. Songs only, no playlists. This is step back to the early year of systems. No common data formats, zero portablity, and labor intensive.
Way to go Apple, you've destroyed your reputation!

Similar issue -- this is the third time in as many months that I've had to restore my iPad. It's a iPad Mini w/ 32GB (ME277LL/A), running the latest iOS8.1.2. The "other" data starts off about 1GB and will bob around that. I was careful about games this time, seeing only a slight rise in the data. Once it started to rise, I deleted all of the game and the data on Game Center. No joy -- the data stays about the same.
Then I noticed it was really climbing -- shooting up to about 10GB and sitting there, no matter what I did: sync it: nothing. Deleting music (on the off chance it was album art or some such: nothing. Deleted all the books in iBooks: no effect -- still 10GB. Cleared the iCloud storage, cleared caches repeatedly: nothing. Reset everything: no effect. Only Restoring the iPad -- which takes forever and is a gigantic pain in the @$$ -- gets it down. This is exactly the same thing that happened the other two times -- I lose about 10GB to "other."
I now suspect, thinking on what I was doing with the device, that pulling movies from iTunes seems to be the culprit. Deleting the movies might take the movie "off the iPad", but there seems to be a corresponding jump in Other. My guess is there's some glitch dumping the information elsewhere.
It makes a 32GB iPad pretty frickin' close to useless in a remarkable amount of time. I've not had this issue until this iPad (bought last summer) with the iOS8 upgrade. I don't see this happen on the iPhone 5S with the same OS...that's why I dialed down to iTunes (when is it not smack in the middle of issues?) and Video as the culprit; I don't watch movies on the phone.
I've noticed a massive amount of posts in support and around the web on this matter...it might be time for Apple to shift it and do something about the matter. If I'm going to be restricted to surfing the web, email, and little else thanks to the Other issue, it really doesn't make sense to stick with this device. I can doo all that on my laptop, can't it?

• How do I stop the "other" data from growing every time I sync my iPhone?

I recently started putting music on my iPhone 4s, and I found that every time I sync music, the "other" storage keeps growing. This only happens when I sync music. If I don't have music on my iPhone, the "other" doesn't grow. Why is this?? Does anyone know how to make this stop? I had to restore my phone as new to delete the "other" storage (I had almost 3 G on my 8 G iPhone). Because the "other" data takes up so much room, I find it difficult to add everything that I want to on my iPhone (like all of my music). Please help!

Hello brownielox,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1867
Other: Everything else, such as contacts, calendars, messages, emails and their attachments, Safari Offline Reading List, settings, and other system resources.
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1503
Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
Restore using iTunes.
Have a nice day,
Mario

Hi Pavan,
Just to add some more valuable information.
Organisational master data : Every company is structured in a certain way. In order to work with the SAP System your company structure has to be represented in the system. This is done with the help of various organizational structures.
Condition master data : In sales and distribution, products are sold or sent to business partners or services are performed for them. Data about the products and services as well as about the business partners is the basis for sales processing. Sales processing with the SAP R/3 System requires that the master data has been stored in the system.
Material master data : In addition to sales and distribution, other departments of the company such as accounting or materials management access the master data. The material master data is stored in a specific structure in order to allow access from these different views.
Document master data : The processing of business transactions in sales and distribution is based on the master data. In the SAP R/3 System, business transaction are stored in the form of documents. These sales and distribution documents are structured according to certain criteria so that all necessary information in the document is stored in a systematic way.
Customer Master Data : or for that matter various business partners, we maintain data for them also called as the customer master data or vendor master data like that.
Thanks & Regards
