  • What resolution should I use?

I'm trying to creat a special graphic image to upload onto iWeb, but t always is A LOT smaller once loaded onto iWeb, what resolution should I use to create the image initially? I've ried 72 dpi but it still came out tiny.
    Thanls

    ThanX Kevin;
That's the core of the issue I'd also had with taking those suggestions into PhotoShop and then back to iWeb. Tu whit..:
In instances of some larger graphics, I've found a conundrum of going from one to the other not reproducing the image as the same size. I can paste back into iWeb something just copied from PhotoShop, and it'll be a third the original. How to deal with that.?
When I tried to increase my 'canvas size' and then blow up the graphic, I'm told that the "Clipboard export failed because it is too big to export."..? Yeah, it's a whole page graphic that I'd blown up almost 3x so that it's import into iWeb would be close to the original (out of iWeb).
So I tried various test graphics to see which yielded what. It would seem for my CS2 and iWeb1.1.2, there's some upper threshold, beyond which iWeb will only accept/display it around 300 pxs.
What's wrong with that picture.? How come I seem to be forced away from the recommendation not to resize in iWeb.? Or is there some secret combination to getting large (almost full page) images into iWeb without have to adjust them.?
Also I'd found what seems an anomaly with the idea of file size increase with iWeb adjustment. I checked my locally published files for pages I'd tried to use an image for background. The png size is declared by the finder to be 36K; but the original, a jpg, is listed as 76k. This seems the inverse of what I'd understood to have been recommended; particularly so for me when I'd set iWeb up to manipulate this image to fit the page by selecting "stretch". What's wrong with my understanding here.?
and so; what IS the definitive best way to get large size graphics into iWeb as small size files..?

  • I just connected my Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8 to a IG 32' monitor. What resolution should I select from the menu?

I just connected my wife's Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8 to an IG 32' monitor. What resolution should I select from the menu in order to provide maximum screen appearance? My wife has AMD and a visual acuity of 20/400 with central scotonata.

In System Preferences:Displays you have an option to show
Displays Prefs in the title bar above the screen - where she can
iteratively adjust to her liking. Higher screen resolutions, ironically,
result in smaller characters so adjust to suit. Below, Displays is
    4th from L.

  • What resolution should i take for a movie to be played on 70X20 LED display?

I am working on an animated video that will be played on 70X20 Feet LED display. What resolution should i take?

size of the screen is 80640 X 23040 (in pixels)
You are going to need a monster to playback something like that. Are you sure? The max comp size in AE is 30,000 pixels. Your specs claim a requirement for 80,640 which is about 20 4K displays.
The data rate for a comp that is 42 times wider than HD would be crazy and probably require an array of high end server grade machines and fiber optics to push even 20 fps video through the system.
As I said before, you MUST contact the manufacturer for their exact media specifications.

    MacBook Air. December 2010

It depends on which model you have:
    13" - 1440x900
    11" - 1366x768
This of course assumes you are talking about your internal display.

  • How do i delete photos on ipad (3rd gen) and keep on pc

How do i delete photos from my ipad (3rd gen) but keep safely on my pc and how can i be sure all photo's / videos taken on my ipad are stored in iCloud??

    don butler,
Sync them off maybe a little confusing because there is no menu selection or button that says, "Sync Off Photos"
When you synced with iTunes you went to the photos tab and selected albums to copy to your iPad.
To remove whole albums, start iTunes on the computer, connect and select your iPad and go to the photos tab.
Then DESELECT the albums you no longer want on the iPad.
Clicking on Apply or Sync will then remove the unwanted albums.
To remove only certain photos that are inside albums is a little different.
Before using iTunes on your computer find the folder or album that has the photos you want to remove. Then move those photos to some other location on you computer or, if you want, delete them entirely.
Finally start iTunes on the computer, connect and select your iPad and go to the photos tab. Make sure all of the albums you want on the iPad are still selected. This includes the albums that you just edited by moving or deleting photos. The click on Sync or Apply.
The sync process wil examine each album, compare it to what is on your iPad and make the necessary changes. If you added photos to the folders on your computer they will be added to your iPad. Conversely, if you deleted photos from folders on your computer they will be removed on your iPad.
    Hope this helps.

Do you clean your iPad screen?  Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended.  There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

Hi thanks for the encouragement.  It's not that the severs are "swamped", iOS 7 has been successfully installed.
I can't access the apps list in iTunes because it *****
down.  Its pretty frustrating because many of my apps require me to manually transfer files into iTunes first to view
them.  Not sure if the servers being swamped is an issue for me, unless they release a bug fix through another version of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this problem?  My iPad is pretty useless unless I can access my app list in iTunes....

  • What resolution are photos optimized for ipod display? (post computer sync)

From what I've read here, iPod touch forces photos sync'ed from a computer through a optimization step for display on the iPod (and TV). Full-resolution images can only be stored on iPods that have "enable disc use" mode (which iPod touch does not have), and even that mode on older iPods could not be viewed/displayed on the iPod itself.
    Just curious...
    1) what resolution finally ends up on the iPod side (not sure if it is the same as older iPods)
    2) if the zooming feature on the touch goes beyond the optimized photo resolution to the point of interpolation to fill in the blanks
Thank you ahead of time for your insight.

    Anyone know?

  • Individual photos to iPad 3rd gen?

Is there a way to import individual photos rather than folders, albums, etc. with the iPad (3rd generation/ios 7.0.3?) I've been importing entire folders then deleting all but the few I want on my iPad...what a pain. Thank you!

I use iTunes on my Win 7 PC to Sync Photos from a specific folder and have sub folders nested in there to sync photos I want, in catagories and you can click on the check boxes to include or exclude those subfolders.  Keep in mind, only include photos you want in the folders, add or subtract photos from any folder will syncronize on the iPad.
Another work around I use is Dropbox to import a single image to the Camera Roll.
    Just a couple of ideas.
    Cheers,

  • What resolution should my photos be in Premiere Elements?

Photos make great source files for a Premiere Elements project, but you’ll find the highest quality results and the best performance from the program if the sizes of your photos are properly optimized before you bring them into your project. We urge you to make sure that any photo you use (especially if you use several in a slideshow) has been resized to no larger than 1000x750 pixels before you bring it into your Premiere Elements project to ensure the best quality and optimal program performance. (Photos taken directly from digital cameras can be 20 to 25 times that size!)
At first this may seem to go contrary to common wisdom. Traditionally, the higher the resolution of your photo, the better the quality of the output. But remember that Premiere Elements is a video editing program, and video is a relatively low resolution medium (essentially the equivalent of 640x480 pixels). And, to a point, reducing the resolution of a photo or graphic to be used in a video actually improves the quality of the video output. (1000x750 pixels seems to be that point)
The reason for this has to do with a process called downsampling, the system a video program uses to bring high-resolution photos down to video size. Premiere Elements does a fair job of this – but, as any pro knows, nothing that happens automatically will be as clean or as efficient as what you do manually. “Down-rezzing” is definitely one of these things.
There’s also a more pressing reason for downsampling your photos yourself. The process of “down-rezzing”, like the process of assimilating non-DV-AVI files into a video project, is a very intensive process. So intensive, in fact, that it’s the single biggest reason Premiere Elements fails, particularly during the disc burning process.
It takes a lot longer for the program to down-rez a 4000x3000 pixel photo than it does a 1000x750 pixel photo. Many, many times longer. And would you rather wait an hour or two for the program to transcode your DVD or 10 hours for a process that might end up with the program choking and dying anyway?
Photoshop Elements, by the way, has a very nice batch resizing feature that can resize a whole folder full of photos in just a few clicks. You’ll find it under the program’s File drop-menu, listed as Process Multiple Files.
For high-definition video, you can increase the size of the photos to 2000x1500 -- although you should be aware that this will require much more processing time and computer power than standard definition video.

    Rene,
For the ultimate viewing on an HD TV, one is best to do a BD Project and then burn to a BD (Blu-ray Disc). Going to any SD format, like DVD-Video will result in having the material up-rezed to fit. This will work to varying degrees of success, and will depend very heavily on the set-top player's uprezing capabilities, plus on the settings on the TV, as well. There WILL be quality compromises, when viewing and SD Project on an HD player and TV.
Even with HD Projects, one is best to size the still images as closely, as is possible, to the Frame Sizes in that Project's Preset, say to only a bit more than 1920 x 1080, if that is the Preset chosen for the HD (BD) Project. Here's a LINK to the accepted HD formats.
This ARTICLE will give tips on resizing of stills before Import. Now, the sizes listed are SD, but it's easy to "do the math" to get to a BD Project Preset size.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt

  • What resolution should I save images for fixed-layout epub?

I have produced an illustrated history book that was created with 300dpi images for print publication.  My next step is to create a fixed-layout epub. Is there a particular resolution that I should set for the images?  Is there a single resolution that I can use to target all tablets and e-readers that accept fixed-layout epubs?
My strategy was going to be to generate a PDF of the book (with no text) and import the PDF pages as the background images for the fixed-layout epub. I am guessing that I should use 150 dpi when saving the PDF.
I'm just a little worried that if I create the fixed-layout epub with 150 dpi images, it may not show up correctly on tablets that don't have high resolution screens?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Use the "Save for Web" option.  Put in the resolution you want, and then dial down the quality, it will show you what it looks like.  Go as low as you're willing given the quality it shows.

  • I'm getting my "new iPad" on Friday.  I'm replacing my original iPad (iPad 1).  Since I will not be going to the Apple store to get my iPad, can someone walk me thru what I should do to set up my new iPad on Friday?  I want to transfer my iPad 1 apps etc.

I'm getting my "new" iPad on Friday.  I'm replacing my "original" iPad (1).  Since I preordered and will be receiving my iPad directly I will not be picking it up from the Apple store, so no set up from them.  Can someone walk me thru what I must to do get my new iPad up and running.  I want to transfer my info, apps, etc. to my new iPad but I also want to pass on my old one to a family member who uses the same computer.  How shall I proceed?  Thanks!

If you want everything that's on your current iPad onto the new one, then you can first copy all purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You can then backup your current iPad and restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (which is one reason to do File > Transfer Purchases, if that doesn't copy them over then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).
The restore won't copy passwords onto a different device, so you will need to re-enter your email, router, and any website passwords onto the new iPad.
Depending on what you want to remain on the iPad, you can then either leave it as it is or log out of your account on it (tap on it in Settings > Store) and then wipe it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings.
