What's s the best automated route from stateless session bean class to EJB?

Hi,
I have an application that generates stateless session bean classes.
For any given stateless session bean class, I would like to build an EJB, moreover, I would like to automate the process as much as possible.
I'd rather not rely on a full blown third party IDE.
I reckon could write a set of java classes that could analyse the session bean class and generate the home and remote interface and a basic deployment descriptor.
That said, I have no doubt that I would be renventing the wheel.
But I am struggling to find a utility/class of the appropriate granularity in the public domain.
I am wide open to any feedback on approaches people may have taken and the pros and pitfalls.
I fully realise my question is quite unspecific, but I really wanted to get some feedback and start a discussion. Since, I am sure there is no 'correct' answer.
Most kind regards,
Simon.

My best advice: surrender to use an IDE.
You wonder sometimes at how much productivity (read as 'time') could be wasted by doing something that could be done automatically. For a learning experience or a once only exercise is fine but as a routine thing, not worth it.
Cheers

  • StreamCorruptedException from Stateless Session bean to java class

    Hi all,
    We have 2 servers, a ColdFusion App server which contains suns jdk 1.4.2 and websphere appserver using Ibm jdk, 1.4.2. On Server 1, we have a standalone java class which does a stateless session bean lookup and requests a service from it. On server 2(websphere), we have a stateless session bean deployed which connects to a database using a jndi lookup, executes a query and returns back a CachedRowSet object (which populates the ResultSet from the above query.) In some cases, session bean returns back an array of objects or String objects or just plain int values.
    When the java class on server 1 invokes the methods returning CachedRowSet, we are getting a StreamCorruptedException, whereas on the server side, there is no exception. everything gets executed fine on websphere. This is the case only for CachedRowSet and not for other return types(as mentioned earlier the session bean returns an array of object in some cases which the java class on server 1 is successfully able to use).
    This is what the piece of code look like on server 1:
    // First gets a StatelessSessionBean using suns InitialContextFactory
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"iiop://localhost:2809");
    System.out.println("Creating initial context");
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
    System.out.println("Initial context created.");
    Object homeObj = ctx.lookup("cell/nodes/localhost/servers/server1/ejb/SSBHome");
    SSBHome eHome = (SSBHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(homeObj,SSBHome.class);
    System.out.println("Got Home");
    SSB eBean = eHome.create();
    CachedRowSet crs = eBean.getAccts(param1, param2);
    //This is the line of code which throws the exception.
    The stacktrace shoows as follows:
    Got Home

    Again, everything seems to work fine on websphere server.
    Any Clue of why this is happening?
    All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Sorry for the confusion!
    The solution mentioned above is not the right solution.
    The above given code works fine irrespective of having corbaloc in the url, if you are working in the IBMs jvm.
    It fails if you are working in suns jvm.
    Anyone with any idea whats missing here.
    Thanks a lot for any suggestion/ideas

  • Transactional error when using JMS from stateless session bean

    I get a transaction exception when committing a bean method responsible for sending to a JMS topic. This happens only occasionally when two separate threads invoke this method "at the same time".
    The scenario:
    Two separate threads running two different instances of a stateless session bean (slsb A). This ejb (slsb A) has an injected slsb B which is communicating with the the topic.
    Both instances of slsb A are utilising the same instance of slsb B.
    The CMT transactions for the two threads start in slsb A from methods with transaction attribute "RequiresNew". All nested methods are to other slsbs and have the transaction attribute "Required". The method in slsb B which sends the message is closing both the session and the connection to the topic.
    I'm running Glassfish version 9.1_02 (build b04-fcs) and JMS implementation OpenMQ version 4.1.

  • Trying to return a Vector from stateless session bean.

    I have a simple Java client which needs to retrieve instances from an Entity Bean, to load into a JTable. I used a CMP entity bean, and wrote a getter method in a stateless session bean, to retrieve the instances and load them into a vector (via a Collection). When I try to return the Vector to the client, the client thread throws an exception, indicating that the object (Vector) is NOT serializable. I thought Vector WAS serializable? What am I doing wrong?
    I did run System.out.println on the Vector in the session bean, and it does display the expected data, so I know the Vector is being populated within the session bean.
    Thanks

    Are you sure that the objects (and all dependent objects) contained by the Vector are serializable?

  • Parsing XML from a session bean

    Hi,
    I am trying to use a Sax parser for parsing xml received from a back end
    legacy system. The code is executed from a Session bean.
    Debugging learned me that the parse() method on the parser hangs the
    container without any error or exception trace. The code works fine outside
    a container.
    All help will be highly appreciated.
    Kurt

    I found out that the InputStream implementation used parsing source inside
    the container is different
    then from the one outside (other type of VM of course!). The Weblogic
    implementation blocks at the end of
    the stream, while the normal SUN JDK 1.3 returns. This is not a bug, the bug
    I found is in my proxy that allows
    the connection to the backend. This proxy allows HTTP connections, and I
    parse the XML received over HTTP.

    That's seems odd. Perhaps there is something going on in your document
    handler code that triggers a hang in the environment of the server.
    When you see the hang, instruct the VM to give you a thread dump (type
    control-<break> on Windows, <control>-\ (backslash) on UNIX in the
    window in which the server is running; the results are dumped to
    stderr). That will show what every thread in the server is doing. If you
    email or post the thread dump, I will take a look at it and see if I can
    see what is going on. Also, let us know which platform, VM, parser, and
    WebLogic version you are using.

  • Web Service from stateful Session Bean deleted after server restart

    Hi,
    i created a stateful session bean and from this a web service.
    I am able to deploy it and it works really fine.
    My problem is: after a server restart the web service is gone and i
    have to deploy it again.
    I have some other web services (but these are web services from stateless session beans)
    but they "survive" the server restart.
    I don't want to deploy the web service after every server restart, did I forget something or
    is it a general problem of stateful session beans or web services?
    Thanks in advance

  • Best way to remove Stateful session beans

    Hi folks.
    I'm running Weblogic 6.1. I'm trying to find the best way of removing
    stateful session beans. I know to call EJBObject.remove() on the
    client side, but this will not always happen if the client crashes or
    times out. This is a java client application connection to weblogic,
    no servlets are involved.
    Is there a way to signal the appserver to remove all stateful session
    beans associated with a user when the User logs out? I would rather
    not remove them using a time out mechanism.
    thanks.
    rob.

    But in the documentation and also based on my experience I noticed that the
    timeout does not take effect till the max-beans-in-cache limit is reached.
    How do you handle that?

    beans associated with a user when the User logs out? I would rather
    not remove them using a time out mechanism.Had the same problem and solved it the following way :
    - The client has thread polling its sessionbean at the server (every 30
    Sec.)
    - The session bean has a short timeout (2 Minutes)
    If the client fails, the timeout will catch it otherwise the client will
    gracefully call remove bevor exit.

  • Trying to call stateless session bean from MDB

    Folks,
    Am working on RAD and WAS 8.
    I have an MDB. And a stateless session bean (AOBean under EJB project).
    While the listener listens to the messages from queue, it also tries to persist to db. I want to achieve this via a method of AOBean (through instantiating session bean or by injection).
    I have been sucessful by invoking a method from AOBean class -  that method just returns a string (without any objects being passed)
    Problem:
    I am getting IllegalStateException when I try to invoke a method of AOBean class, that has an object as a parameter
    For eg:
    MDB
    @EJB(name="ejb/TransactionMgrAOBean", mappedName="ejb/TransactionMgrAOBean")
    ITransactionMgrAO tranAO;
        public void onMessage(Message message) {
         TextMessage textMessage = (TextMessage) message;
         boolean status = false;
      try {
       TransactionVO tranVO =  getTransactionVO();//Here building the object to be passed to session bean
       String status1  = tranAO.getVersion(tranVO);
      }catch(Exception e){
    AOBean
    @Stateless
    @Remote({ ITransactionMgrAO.class })
    @WebService
    public class TransactionMgrAOBean {
    public String getVersion(TransactionVO tranVO) throws Exception{
      try{
    //business logic
      } catch(Exception e){
      throw e;
      return true;
    TransactionVO implements Serializable has also inner static classes that are not Serializable.
    EXCEPTION: At runtime we are getting exception saying that the inner classes are not serialized.
    REASON why we are invoking session bean from MDB? We found that if we invoke any service from AOBean the transaction management was successful. We are using sessionContext.setRollBackonly when an exception occurs. Tranasactions are not rolled back when any db exception occurs if we invoke business logic methods from Model layer of another NON-EJB package.
    Hope I have provided enough information!

  • What is the best Wireless Router for ichat

    Hi Guys,
    I wonder if anyone can give me any advice from all your experience as to the best Wireless Router I should get in order to use ichat with a minimal setup hassle. I have a G5 and iBook both using Mac OS X 10.4.3 with an external ichat camera. I am based in the UK and use AOL UK on a 2meg broadband connection. Is there a router out there that has easy software to configure?
    Thanks for your help!!!
    Apple G5 and i Book   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    I use A Linksys WRK54G which is Pack of the Wireless router and a laptop PCIAM (or what erver the name is ) card.
    It give me UPnP, Port Triggering and of course good old Port Forwarding.
    It gives me 4 ethernet ports as well as Wireless access.
    It will handle PPPoE logins if the modem is in Bridge mode.
    I have it set to have a Static Address Modem to Router and it is also not doing DHCP And therefore Static to the computer(s).
    I would also look at what speed your Internet conection is likely to rise to in the next few years. Some devices can not handle the speeds offered in some places. So make sure it will handle the Uplink and Download speeds you want as well.

  • What is the best wifi router?

    what is the best wifi router?  I have a netgear which required that I set my devices with static/manual IPs etc...  and yet still losing connection at least once a day.  Is airport express my best option to connect both apple and PC devices?

    Sorry, but that would be difficult to answer. What is best for you will depend on a number of factors, including: current networking hardware, network environment, your budget, etc.
    If you are sure that your current Netgear router is not working for you, I would recommend that you first establish you basic networking requirements. That is, what do you want your network to do? What area do you want for Wi-Fi coverage? What can your current networking clients support, both for radio mode (802.11g, 802.11n, or 802.11ac) and wireless encryption types (WEP, WPA, or WPA2)? Will you be streaming HD video content on your local network, and/or from the Internet? What bandwidth (download/upload) is your ISP providing you?
    From there we might be able to make sum recommendations.

  • What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?

    Hi All
    What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?
    Release: 11.5.8
    OS: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit) verison 9
    DB: 9.2.0.1
    Thanks in advance

    What kind of data you are looking to move?
    Database export/import is only supported for full database export/import and the application release should be the same on the source/target nodes.
    You can move the setup using iSetup or FNDLOAD.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

    Hi,
    One of my clients has an environment similar to yours with an internal pair of F5s and a pair used for the access from the internet.
    I am only going to focus on the method using an F5 Load Balancer and SSL Offloading. the setup of the F5 will not be covered in detail but a reference to the documentation to support SharePoint and SSL Offloading will be provided
    Since you arte going to be using SSL Offloading you do not need to extend your WebApps to use separate IIS WebSites with Unique IP Addresses
    Configure the F5 with SSL Offloading
    Configure a Internal AAM for SSL (HTTPS) for each WebApp that maps to the Public HTTP FQDN AAM Setting for each WebApp
    Our environment has an additional component we require RSA Authentication for all internet facing Sites. So we have the extra step of extending the WebApp to a separate IIS WebSite and configuring RSA for each extended WebSite.Reference:
