thxs if you can briefly answerWebLogic Server (WLS) is the new version of application server and replacement to Oracle Application Server (OAS). OAS stopped at Java J2EE 1.4. WLS handles JEE 1.5 and higher.
Fusion Middleware is the new set of "servers" based on WLS that replace and extend the functionality started with OAS. Fusion Middleware is the 11g brand. Oracle Application Server is the 10g brand.
Fusion Middleware breaks out all the components so yuo can pick and choose what you want and install each separately. OAS did all the install in one unified lump and you would only configure what you wanted.
To get to Oracle Application Server, you would go through an HTTP server. You can still do that with WebLogic Server, although it is not necessary as WLS understands basic HTTP well enough to accept requests directly.
So you had Forms Server 10g based on OAS, and now you have Forms Server 11g based on WLS.
And Discoverer 10g in OAS Enterprise Edition, becomes Discoverer 11g add-on to WLS.
And so on.

    what is a  Logical and Physical file path in sap?

    Hi,
    Physical file is what you see from the OS level.
    Logical file is what ABAP code can call certain functions to read/write.
    Transaction FILE would link them together. Typically the logical path ends with "<FILENAME>", and the logical file refers to the logical path.
    To extract the physical path from the logical path name
    DATA: lf_mandt TYPE sy-mandt,
            lf_opsys TYPE sy-opsys.
      lf_mandt = sy-mandt.
      lf_opsys = sy-opsys.
    To extract the physical path from the logical path name
      CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME'
        EXPORTING
          client           = lf_mandt
          logical_filename = p_unix
          operating_system = lf_opsys
        IMPORTING
          file_name        = gwa_input
        EXCEPTIONS
          file_not_found   = 1
          OTHERS           = 2.
      IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
      Concatenating the physical path and the input unix file name
        CONCATENATE gwa_input p_file INTO gf_file .
      ENDIF.
    Reward if helpful.

  • Run Oracle Web Logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on same server

    Since oracle has chosen to release adf faces 11g, before the SOA suite 11g is released, we are facing the challenge to run both Oracle Web logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on the same server.
    If anyone have any experience in this setup or has knowledge of other feasable setups please let me know.
    Regards.
    Jan

    What version of Oracle Application Server 10g are you installing?
    If you are installing 10gR2 (v10.1.2.x) have you taken a look at point #70 in "Table 2 Additional Information for Certified Platforms" section here?

  • Build a dicom server with web logic and Oracle Multimedia DICOM

    Its it possible, build My own dicom server...only using web logic + java + Oracle Multimedia DICOM ?

    Hi,
    In The LDAP side you need to increase:
    MaxPageSize - This value controls the maximum number of objects that are returned in a single search result, independent of how large each returned object is. To perform a search where the result might exceed this number of objects, the client must specify the paged search control. This is to group the returned results in groups that are no larger than the MaxPageSize value. To summarize, MaxPageSize controls the number of objects that are returned in a single search result.
    Default value: 1,000

  • What is web.xml and why it is used?

    hi,

    thanx in advance.

    hi stevejluke,
    thanx for the correct link.
    nx for the correct link. but what i in doubt with is
    why we should use web.xml? may be my question is very
    silly, may be too basic, forgive me for that...
    Thanx & Regards,
    SaikatAt the most basic level:
    There are several versions of the Servlet specification, You need the web.xml to tell the server which version of the spec your application conforms to so the server knows how to deal with different things.
    If you have a servlet, you also need the web.xml to define what URL signals a request that should be handled by your servlet.
    At this point, you need to sit down and read a book. Do what it says, blindly at first. Just do what it says (but do try to understand the 'what' of it, just don't question the 'why'). After you have a few applications running, go back and ask yourself this question again and try to see what you are using the web.xml for in those applications you have.

  • What about web standards and other browsers?

    I am not using MS IE (for good reasons) and everytime i stumple upon statements like
    (Note: Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher are required to watch Virtual SAP TechEd sessions.)
    I get really mad.
    It just recently happened when I wanted to have a look at the SAP TechEd Featured Lecture of the Week that a colleague notified me of.
    I know that there is a certain Microsoft affinity at SAP but c'mon guys:
    This is the internet and it's the 21st century!
    Why not obey web standards or at least use something platform independent?
    No offence, but this is really disappointing!
    I (and certainly many others too) would really appreciate web standards compliance on sap.com.

  • Web logic shutting down and resetting automatically

    hi all.
    i have developed an application in oracle apex 4.0 on oracle 11 g R1 and configured listener with oracle web logic server. i can run the application succesfully through web logic server but the problem is that i have to restart the web logic and configure listener again and again after like every 2 to 3 days. plz give me an idea what possibly could be the problem.
    thanks in advance.

    Take a look at this article - note the special section on how to reset the SMC on laptops:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Follow the Notebook instructions and post back if that didn't solve the problem.
    P.S. You should also consider to update your OS to the latest version.
    P.P.S. I'm assuming you're talking about your Macbook since you posted in the iMac section.

    First of all, I think this is a wrong forum. You had better use WebLogic Application Server forum - WebLogic Server - Upgrade / Install / Environment / Migration
    From the error: Address already in use: JVM_Bind one can guess that some config of your Node Manager is wrong.
    Note that you don't necessarily need the Node Manager to start WebLogic apps - it is necessary only if you want to use the Weblogic Console.

  • Threads in Web Logic??

    I read somewhere that Web Logic doesn't suggest to use any other threads from the web..is it true? I have the following situation:
    We have a servlet, which calls a method in a Java class..this method may take long time at times. So to avoid it, I need a mechanism to load the data in sequances in the background and say when one sequance is loaded, load it on the web..so this way even if there is a large data, my servlet won't throw the OutOfMemoryException. This is just a thought. Would someone suggest me any better solution or anything that would help me in achieving what I'm trying to do?
    Thanks

    Several solutions.
    First don't do it in the first place. Find another solution that is faster and/or doesn't use as much data. This can include simply disallowing the user from doing anything that messes with large data sets. Or using a stored procedure rather than java to do the processing.
    After that there are a number of solutions:
    1. Use a batch server (seperate process.) It takes requests and processes them. The interface to this can be done any of several ways: sockets, RMI, JMS. Since the server is seperate you can also queue requests. A variation on this is to write the request to a database table(s) and the batch server processes anything new it finds (this is very useful if you need to track the processing.)
    2. Web Logic (and all containers as far as I know) allow you to load classes outside of the container itself. Those classes can do anything you want and will be visible to classes in the container. Again you would want to implement this in some queue fashion.
    3. Create the thread. The restriction against threads in a container is due to the nature of the container and because it might lead to problems. As far as I know no container prevents you from doing it. You know how your system will be used so you should be able to determine what the potential effect will be. You can even write mitigation strategies to help with potential future problems (such as using a thread.)

  • Web logic port

    Do anybody know what port web logic listens to by default? I am trying to browse an JSP page. I do not know how. Thanks - Malathi.

    Monowai was perfectly rite but to be more precise..
              7001 for the non-secure mode and
              7002 for the secure (SSL) mode but you wud have to configure that.

  • Problem while deploying application in web logic

    Hi,
    i have an web application with servlets running fine in tomcat 5.1.12, but when i copy the same foldet to web logic and i run i gives an error, i create a domain of my name, and i kept the folder in weblogic, user _projects--> applications folder, but while accessing from the browser i got an error. so please rectify my error.
    Babji..

    I don't use web logic so I can't help you. But if you post whatever error message you are referring to into your thread, someone who uses web logic might have a better idea as to how to respond. Additionally I suspect there may be some differences in the configuration settings between Tomcat and web logic, you might look into that. But I have no idea.
