WMV is a closed/proprietary Microsoft format. There are some 3rd party apps via the iTunes app store that provide for viewing a WMV file included as an email attachment. One is called OPlayer.

.eml files are e-mail files. You need an e-mail program to open them.
Thunderbird is my program of choice, but there are many others (both online and stand-alone on your PC.).

You need to upgrade to the next OS 10.6 Snow Leopard by purchasing the DVD online.

Everytime I try to type something in the search box a further box appears to tell me this is a JSON file and what program should I use to open it.
This has only happened since reinstalling my system a couple of weeks ago.
I am not really interested in what a json file is I simply want to get rid of this pop up box.

There are dozens of apps designed to help with household budgets, but few are free. May I suggest you look for apps that have a free trial version, and try them out before spending money on something you may not like:

Depending on what platform you are editing on, you may consider programs like Windows Movie Maker or Apple's iMovie.

For most Mac programs you download in the .dmg format just double clicking them will open them. For .zip files you can use a tool like Stuffit Expander. There are other tools listed here. Hope this helps. P.S. for .Pdf files just right click on the file open with Preview. Most text files can be opened with Text Edit, again right click open with....Text Edit. And as Kenneth is saying if you open a text file and you see code, the file wasn't meant to be opened, if you need to edit that file with a program like Text Wrangler, or SubEthaEdit.

A DVD caame with the printer. Why not use it? Lost it, just d/l another copy from Canon. It' free.
But the best is Photoshop Elements.

The reason I ask is that I have just gotten an iPhone 4S and with the 10.4.1 software I'm running now, it doesn't allow my iTunes to update to the newer version. Therefore, being stuck with an older version of iTunes, it refuses to recognize the new iPhone and will only charge it rather then be able to add music to it.

We are just users like yourself. If Apple has stated publicly about the problems you mentioned, it will be listed on their website and/or in one of their Knowledge Base Articles.
I have a 27" & do not suffer from such a problem. You should keep in mind that these are technical support forums. Generally, the only people posting here are those with problems. The thousands/millions without problems don't ever come here.
Think of these forums as a hospital emergency room.

I'm often having issues with clients not seeing or being able to open attachments, font formatting changes (on the pc end) and the inability to use HTML signatures to promote our company brand.

I imagine your clients must be using Outlook, which is seriously broken when it comes to e-mail standards, especially HTML e-mail. You can work around the issues with Outlook by only sending plain-text e-mails and making sure that, in the Edit -> Attachments menu, the last two options are checked. Unfortunately, that means that HTML signatures are out.
If you need something with a fancy layout, either attach a PDF file to the e-mail or include a link to a website in the e-mail.

Why can't I open pps and wmv files sent by email!

Many friends send photos and/or files with pps and wmv designations. Windows continually rejects them with the message that it is unable to open them.
How can I fix this?

I don't know. What exactly happens? (Exactly - including all error messages in full please) What is your computer (e.g. Windows 7), browser, and email program?
