What web server IFS and OC4J use?

I am trying to install ARCIMS 4.0.1 in win2000.
In the machine there is oracle 9.0.1, IFS 9.0.1 , OC4j installed and running.
Installing ArcIMS requires a web server, the can be Apache, ibm http, IIS, Oracle Aplication Server…
I am not sure what web server do I need to specify:
Apache or Oracle Aplication server? Or none of them?
Thanks for your help,

hi, thomasfly
Thank you for your message. The problem I use J2EE "deploytool" is if I want to test servlet code, I need to go through deploy steps. If I use tomcat, just make sure all class files are in place. And I use JBuilder6, I found tomcat is build-in already. And another problem is if I put all static html files in J2EE, I guess they are not efficient to be loaded.
Now my problem I can test servlet using like http://localhost:8080/example/servlet/HelloWordServlet, but I can not call it using http://www.MYDOMAIN.com/example/servlet/HelloWorldServlet, where MYDOMAIN is my registed domian name. My friend told me I should configue apache to point to tomcat, as well as tomcat too. I have problem to figue it out. Do you have any experience. Thank you.

  • How can I determine what dns server the wifi client use within airport

How can I determine what dns server the wifi client use within airport
I want to use dns servers other then the one that airport extreme is using. For example I got the 172.16.1.1 (the default gateway - airport extreme), but I want to use the office dns servers, that are in a 10.x.x.x range.
    Is there a possibility?
    Thanks and happy eastern

The Airport Extreme uses the DNS servers assigned by the network that it connects to. Is you Airport Extreme on the 10.x.x.x network? if it is then you are already using the 10.x.x.x DNS servers. Check your Airport Extreme with the Airport Utility and you will see in the Internet tab, the DNS servers used. The devices connecting to the Airport Extreme are assigned a DNS address of the Airport Extremes IP, In your case 172.16.1.1 but all DNS searches and resolution are done with the DNS servers you see in the Airport Extreme.
If you want to use some other DNS then you can override in the Airport Extreme which will be used by all devices connecting too the Airport Extreme, Or you can edit the DNS address in each devices wireless settings.

I don't want my pictures on a web server. Can I use Elements version 13 without a subscription??

Yes you can use Elements without subscription.
Links to the cloud only happen if you decide to use mobile albums, and the free storage. But that is optional.

  • Can iDSIE (Meta-directory) be used as a single authentication point from iPlanet Web Server for multiple databases using direct "or" indirect connectors?

Basically, the latest release of iPlanet Web Server forces the user/group information source to be an LDAP database. Currently, the user accounts are in Active Directory, NT, Oracle and NetWare Directory Service in this heterogeneous environment.
What I am looking for is a meta-directory product which can do two things:
1-Single authentiation point for users in mulitple databases from iPlanet Web Server.
2-Single administration point for all of the databases listed above.
For example, can I add/modify/delete a user account at the meta-directory level and have this propagate to all of the databases listed above reducing the administration to one meta-directory product?

With an Virtual Directory solution, you can authenticate Iplanet Web Server against nearly anything including any LDAPv3 Directory Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows NT Domains, Oracle RDBMS, IBM DB2 RDBMS, Microsoft SQL, and others.
All of this is done dynamically and doesn't require any heavyweight synchronization process. The Virtual Directory acts as a dynamic schema / DIT / data translation engine for different types of repositories.
OctetString's Virtual Directory Engine is one such example. You can download a 30 day evaluation copy at:
    http://www.octetstring.com
It will take you all of 30 minutes to get iPlanet Web Server authenticated against and using groups from things like Oracle RDBMS, Windows NT Domains, or Active Directory.

  • Sun Java Web Server 7 and JNDI Jell

    Hi all,
I am building a normal Java EE web app (WAR file), and I was originally developing on GlassFish v2.1 and everything was beautiful. Now, I found out our shared server is Sun Java Web Server 7, but the sys admin said everything should run fine as long as I wasn't using JSB's.
I downloaded and installed SJWS7 on my local machine so I could test my application against it, and JPA and SJWS7 are not getting along.
I am trying to bind my persistence.xml to the data source I created on SJWS7.

  • What web service client library to use?

I am creating a standalone Java application (NOT a web server), which will be a client to a remote server via SOAP web services. I need this to run in Java 1.4, and I need to keep the app small (hopefully <1 megabyte). Axis is too big - it's around 5-8 megs with all the dependencies.
Isn't there some simple way to do this with just the classes built into the JDK? If not, then 1) why not? and 2) what third party lib can I use without bloating the size of my application?

You were right and I was wrong on the size of Axis - it is 2.2 megabytes for version 1.4. I should have checked more carefully before posting. OTOH, it's 15.5 MB for version 2.
Neither one is suitable for my purposes, however. My code is around 200K and is downloaded in a browser: it seems really lame to increase that by an order of magnitude just so that I can access a web service.
I'm working on BCScomputer's tip of using JWSDP; 100K for client jars would be OK with me.
.Net, Cocoa, and AppleScript all have very easy-to-use built-in support for client access to SOAP Web Services. I'm somewhat surprised that it's this much work to create web service clients in Java; for all the hype surrounding Java and Web Services, this should be build into the JRE. It seems really silly to me that I'm downloading and expanding this 60 meg monster (JWSDP) to do the same thing as 3 lines of AppleScript.

  • What Web Services Strobe Media Playback Uses.

    HI,
Am I posting correct question or I am wrong
Does strobe media playback uses any web service.
If it uses or not please let me know .

The player supports both standard and advanced delivery methods, including progressive download, RTMP streaming,
RTMP dynamic streaming, HTTP streaming, HTTP dynamic streaming, and live streaming. Flash Media Playback
1.5 and Strobe Media Playback 1.5 also provide support for RTMFP multicast content delivery.
While RTMP(x) streaming are FMS content delivery technologies, the player can also be used with other FMS compatible streaming servers, such as Wowza or Red5.
In the case you do not need the use of FMS streaming functionality, progressive download is always an alternative (what this means is that all you need is a video that can be served by a webserver like apache, nginx, lightypd, etc).
As for how the player can be used, these links are allways a good place to start and get a better idea of what it is all about:

  • SharePoint 2013 - Office Web Apps - Internal and External Use

I have successfully installed SharePoint 2013 and Office Web Apps on Azure VMs inside an Azure Virtual Network (IaaS model). Everyting is working well. However, my testing has shown that external users and internal users can't use Office Web Apps at the
    same time.
Office Web Apps, installed on its own vm, accomodates an external and internal URL quite well. However, SharePoint 2013 appears to only allow one setting for WOPI Zone, either internal or external but not both. I've set the WOPI zone to Internal-HTTPS (Set-SPWOPIZone
–Zone “internal-https”). OWA works just fine if accessed from inside the Azure Virtual Network. However, if I try to access from outside the Virtual Network, from the Internet, Office Web Apps fails. The exact oppisite is also true. I can set WOPI Zone to
External-HTTPS and accessing from the Internet works fine, but accessing inside the Virtual Network fails.
Am I missing something? I, obviously, want Office Webs Apps to function properly for both internal and external users simultaneously.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide here.
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,
To have both the use of Internet and Internal available to your end-users, you first need to configure AAM setting. Open Central Administration > Application Management > Configure alternate access mappings. Let's say there is an existing web application
named http://sharepoint and my end-users from local network are able to access it using the URL http://sharepoint (root site collection). Here you need to add the Internet URL by select the web application and click Edit Public URLs. Add the Internet domain
to the web application, e.g http://sharepoint.abc.com. You don't necessarily have to edit binding setting in IIS. Before continuing next steps, make sure you are able to access http://sharepoint.abc.com from the Internet while being able to access http://sharepoint
    from local network (aka Internal).
On the machine where Office Web App (OWA) Server 2013 is installed, open PowerShell to add OWA module and use the following command to re-create a new OWA server farm if you've completed configuring it previously.
    New-OfficeWebAppsFarm -InternalUrl "http://owa" -ExternalUrl "http://owa.abc.com" -EditingEnabled.
In this case, I'm not using SSL certificate to encrypt data over the Internet. You can use Internet-public IP of the OWA server like -ExternalUrl "http://198.xxx.xxx.xx". Add CertifcateName parameter if you want to use whether CA-issued certificate
    or self-signed certificate.
On your SharePoint machine, you need to re-bind all WFE machines to WAC farm using the cmdlet New-SPWOPIBinding. Next, you need to set the WOPI zone for both internal and external.
    Set-SPWOPIZone -zone "external-http"
Note: I'm not all using certificate in my guidance. But the steps to have it configured is just to add more parameter.
I've recently successfully deployed OWA multi-server farm for both internal and internet uses for two big clients. In real-world scenario, ideally OWA should be published through firewall (Forefront UAG, TMG, F5...etc). Please let me know if you still have
issues after following my steps. My email: [email protected]

  • Help me Deploy WAR file in SUN iPlanet Web Server 6.1 SP7 using JDK1.6 & JS

    Hi All,
Can any one help me on this.
    I'm using
    JDK1.6
    JSF1.2
    JSTL1.1
    Hibernate3.2.5
    ANT1.7
    JUnit
    HTML
    Oracle10g
Trying to deploy this war file in SUN iPlanet Web Server 6.1 SP7. Can I use JDK1.6 & JSF1.2 in web server6.1

What is the exact version of Web Server you are using? Should be in the error logs or try $start -version
It would be faster if you can capture and cut and paste the data that is sent between firefox and Web Server in both the cases using /usr/sfw/bin/ssltap (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/tools/ssltap.html) or ethereal when you try to view that shtml file. We can see if its any different in both cases and try it from there.
Also verify the steps given in http://docs.sun.com/source/817-1832-10/pgshtml.html
    mime.types should have :
    type=magnus-internal/parsed-html exts=shtml
    obj.conf should have :
    Service fn="shtml_send" type="magnus-internal/parsed-html" method="(GET|HEAD)"
When you activate parsing, magnus.conf should have :
    Init funcs="shtml_init,shtml_send" shlib="install_dir/bin/https/bin/Shtml.dll" NativeThreads="no" fn="load-modules"
Shtml.dll (or libShtml.so on UNIX), is located in install_dir/bin/https/bin for Windows, and install_dir/bin/https/lib for UNIX.

  • # of Connections between Web Server (Tomcat) and Weblogic AppServer

    Hi guys,
does anybody know how many connections are used between a TomCat WebServer and the Weblogic ApplicationServer?
              - One?
              - One per active browser-user?
              - Configurable? (freely, in some ranges, which values are recommandable?)
Does anybody has some links to related documentation maybe?
              Answers would be very helpful.
              Thanx in advance!
              Markus

    Hi,
While not an exact solution to your problem, I seem to recall a similar issue, not with this web server though, but similar still. As far as I recall, the problem was related to the loading order of the library files and overlapping class files within those libraries. I think it was an issue with j2ee.jar/javaee.jar and jbossall-client.jar.
For the standalone test, you have probably checked the following, but check again :)
    - Exact same JDK
    - Libraries in the web server lib directory
    - Libraries in application/WEB-INF/lib
    - Loading order
You might also want to check how war file class loading is done in the web server sp6.

  • What Web service client does Omniportlet use?

Does the omniportlet uses direct SOAP calls for Web service or use AXIS calls??

    Hello,
As you may know OracleAS / JDeveloper has its own Web Service runtime and set of Tools. Omniportlet uses the Oracle AS Web Service Client API and WSDL tools to invoke dynamically SOAP based Web Services.
I am curious to know why are you asking this question? Do you have specific requirements?

  • What are the pros and cons using Active Data Guard vs Data Guard?

My understanding is that Active Data Guard is an additional database option for Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise Edition. I need to know the pros and cons using Active Data Guard vs Data Guard in order to decide whether to get pay extra for the Active Data Guard.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hemant K Chitale wrote:
Before jumping in to Active Data Guard, one needs to evaluate :
    a. Is there really a need to run queries on the Standby ? The Standby could / should be at a remote site so queries are "across the network". Depending on the nature of the queries and the volume of output, the "performance" of the queries may not seem to be the same.
    b. If the database is not in Maximum Protection mode, the data "seen" at the standby may not be in "real-time" synch
    c. Not all applications are truely read-only when querying. Some applications use "jobs" that write to tables when querying. Such would not work with Active DataGuard. (example : EBusiness Suite). There are very complicated ways of handling this -- and one needs to consider if the complications can be introduced and supported.
Over the network accessing standby read only is really not an good idea, I think no one will compare performance with primary and standby,
But some of them they want to validate data which are very critical, as it is matching with primary or not, Its an added advantage with ACTIVE DATAGUARD
Prior to that until unless stop MRP, open database and then we need to validate, So there is an interruption of recovery, I can say its also an advantage where there is no interruption of recovery.
