What you suggest as a good summary of ADF Java classes? What about a detailed reference?

Hi everyone,
When I was a forms developer, I was quite familiar with the built-ins. Now that I am learning JDeveloper, I am trying to get acquainted with the various Java classes that support ADF development. A summary of classes for the model, controller, and view layers would be very helpful. One document that is good (which is included in the documentation below) can be found here: ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers.
As far as reference materials, these two seem to be good:
Oracle Fusion Middleware User’s Guide for Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.2.0)
Oracle Fusion Middleware Fusion Developer’s Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1.0).
Any suggestions that might help me make the best use of my ADF study time would be appreciated!
Thanks.
James

Shay ha blogged about adf learning path here https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/how_do_i_start_learning_oracle_adf_and_jdeveloper he mentioned some good commercial books.
Beside of these commercial books you only can read the various thread here in the forum or blogs about themes you find interesting and want to explore in more depth.

  • Weird behaviour on imported java classes - what am i doing wrong?

    Hello.
I am working on a java application in Jdeveloper 11g. I thought i'd re-use a few java classes that i had from an earlier project. I went File->import->Java source and pointed out the .java files. They popped into my Jdeveloper project perfectly like i expected. I opened up one of them and spent some time making changes to it. I then opened a second one and changed it too. Upon returning to the first one, i noticed that all my changes were gone and the original version was back. I also notied that by clicking on the history tab, i could see a list of revisions - i guess one for every time i saved the file. What i fail to understand is why the latest revision says "Load External State" and is back to square one.
Am i using this in the wrong way?

    Hi,
I tried the same but this doesn't happen to me. Which version of JDeveloper do you use ?

  • WIN7 and Palm TX--Tried what you suggested but am stuck again.

I've read and tried everything suggested and am still getting an error message.
System: Laptop with WIN 7 64-bit and Palm TX.
Palm software NOT installed on laptop.
Today, installed Bluetooth 2.1 dongle; created three virtual ports.
In WIN, Bluetooth Configuration, HotSynch is set to automatically use Com4.
Discovery: Laptop has discovered Palm. Palm does not say that it cannot find the laptop (as it used to), so I presume that it can.
Problem: In Palm, after tapping HotSynch, and waiting, I receive a message that "another application is using the port" (Com4). Tested Com5 and Com6, with same result.
Thanks for any help that you can give.

The Palm Desktop version you are installing is it the 6.2.2 version? Also have you tried hotsyncing though WiFi? If not here is a link that might help: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&thread.id=44299

  • What are the two packages default imported into all Java classes?

I just remember one of it is java.lang.* ... What are the others? Thanks for any replies. ^v^

    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/interpack/usepkgs.html
For your convenience, the Java compiler automatically imports three entire packages:
The default package (the package with no name)
    The java.lang package
    The current package by default

  • Suggestion for a Good Book

    Hi,
Could someone suggest me a good book covering core java security (not J2EE)?. I'm looking for a book that covers all security related APIs that are part of Java 2 SDK 1.3.x + JSSE + JCE + JAAS or Java 2 SDK 1.4.x.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I've a book called "Professional Java Security",
by Jess Garms and Daneil Somerfield, published by Wrox press.
I've used it to dip my toes into the Java Cryptography extension, and
it was very good. I got a TripleDES encryption utility working reasonably easy.
Also covers JCA, JCE, JAAS, JSSE, SSL and E-Commerce.

  • Creative X-Fi recorder from "what you hear" and splitting tra

    Hi,
I used to be able to record minutes of music or sound and be able to split this saved file with the splitting option of Smart Recorder. I now have installed a new sound card X-Fi and want to do the same but cannot find where I need to look. Does this new software for X-Fi offer that or not anymore?
    thanks,
    Luke

I have the software from the CD installed, as I stated earlier, the "What You Hear" option is only missing if you do a CLEAN install of the drivers from the Windows Update. That is?to say if you install the drivers from Microsoft's website with no other X-Fi driver installed on your system.
If you installed the update over a previous version of the drivers, then the "What You Hear" option remains available.
I checked this three times by doing a clean install from the Windows Update and then installing the other driver from Creative?s website.
All three times I deleted the X-Fi driver from my system, then installed the one directly from the Windows Update. I would check my record settings and could not find the "What You Hear" option. I would then install the driver from Creative?s website and checked the settings again and the ?What You Hear? option was available.
If you just installed the Windows Update driver over the one previously on your system without first deleting it, then yes, you should have the "What You Hear" option.
I also could not get the "What You Hear" recording option in any software application that previously had it (ie, Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge) until I installed the driver form the Creative website.

  • WHQL X-Fi Driver missing "What You Hear" recording

I have tried this 3 times to make sure it is not a simple glitch?
If you uninstall your X-Fi driver and do a clean install using the WHQL driver from the MS Update, the driver installs without the ?What You Hear? recording option. If you update to the driver without uninstalling the old one, the option remains available so this seems to me a small problem...however it troubles me to see that it is missing form the MS driver if you do a clean install.
Is this an option that MS is pushing to have removed ?

  • Recommend good books for learning java?

im using Java How to Program, Deitel&deitel.
    i find it all right.
what do u think about this one?
    can u recommend any other?

There's a lot of online reference available, too:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/j.title.doc.html
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/index.html
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html
There's links to all the online documentation, as well as to a few recommended books that you can buy, at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/index.html
As for specific book, sorry I can't help you. I personally learned a lot more Java by browsing through the API reference than I did by checking out coding examples. But that might only be because I already had a decent background in programming when I started. If you start Java as your first programming language, then an example and explanation filled book would be really useful. Like I said, sorry about not being able to provide any solid recommendations.
Hope that helps though. Check out those links, they are pretty useful. The tutorial is pretty helpful sometimes, too.

  • What kind of antivirus do you suggest for mac OS X Maverics?

What kind of antivirus do you suggest for OS X Maverics?

OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

What other videos and books are there? that you suggest. for step by step .

The various Lynda.com video tutorials are very good, but you have to pay for a description.  The Photoshop User TV podcasts are excellent; there are hundreds of them, and they are free.  They are also what the iPad was invented for.
The 'You suck at Photoshop' videos on YouTube are both very funny and very instructive.
The Scott Kelby books are very good for folk starting out.  The Martin Evening, and the Martin Evening/Jeff Schewe books are as good as they get from a photography point of view.  The Steve Caplin books are the best Photoshop books once you get into it, but Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski do some great medium to advanced books.  Matt's Compositing Secrets is excellent, and was Amazon's best Photoshop book for a while.

I would suggest checking out http://www.logiforms.com. They have really good PDF support for both hosted PDF's and generating PDFs. You can:
populate PDF forms from a web form submission
Merge multiple PDF's together using conditional logic
Include uploaded images in the generated PDF
    Get Electronic signatures on PDF's
Use conditional logic when creating PDF's
Convert HTML to PDF. You design in HTML and CSS and use form field wildcards and generate the PDF
More of the PDF features are explained here:
PDF Form Creator | PDF Form Maker | V3.Logiforms.com
They are also offering a 25% discount to anyone coming from Forms Central...

I want to buy surveillance cameras and software that are compatible with Mtn Lion, what do you suggest?

You do have the ability to create good user interfaces with LabVIEW.
The main problem is what do you, or your customer consider a good user
    interface.
The first thing I would suggest is to start using the "Dialog Control"
controls for your front panel. This set of controls pick up their style
from the operating system, so they will match the rest of the system
    applicaitons.
Another thing is limit the use of color on the front panel. One persons
idea of a nice shade of blue can be another person eyesore. Instead,
use the decorations for grouping of controls.
I would stay away from ActiveX. It's interface is quirky at best and there is a lot of overhead involved.
Just to show it's possible, the attached images are screen shots of
user interfaces I've designed with LabVIEW. The first two use the
Dialog Controls, and the third uses standard controls and color at the
    customers request.
