When I create some 3D objects in Photoshop CS6 (a good example would be one of a dinner-plate), artefacts always show on the surface of the plate.

Hello! The title of this message says it all, really (When I typed the above, I thought that I was typing the actual message, since I had been invited to ask a question). So, can anyone please help with this problem. The plates look as if they have wedges of the spread-type cheeses that can be bought in a circular pack, only they are bigger than those would be on a plate, and black.
With thanks in anticipation,
True To Form

I started with 3D in my teens (Amiga Sculpt/Animate 4D 1987) - from a personal perspective I "grew up" with 3d applications.
I have taught Blender (and other 3d application) classes, though, and like any other software it depends a bit on the person. If you have never used a 3d application before, then Blender is relatively easy to pick up. The basic tutorials on Blender Cookie (and many other sites) are easy to follow. Learning 3D is fun, and can also be intimidating at times, because there is so much to learn in terms of scope.
My advice is to pick your battles: the above image is not that hard to recreate in Blender (together with that tutorial) once you understood the basic GUI and handling of Blender.
The funny thing is that when 3D was introduced in Photoshop, I kept thinking and wondering why the developers made it so unintuitive and hard to use. It is quite slow and cumbersome - compared to Cinema 4D, Blender, Max, Lightwave, and so on, Photoshop's 3d always kills me. I just do not want to deal with it - and the quality is well below par compared with the current state of rendering technology. I am not saying it is useless (far from it), just that once you become aware of what is out there, and are dazzled by what even free software such as Blender can pull off, it sort-of becomes a "frog leaves the well" paradigm shift.
Point in case: the above image is completely CG and done in Blender. And if you have a decent Nvidia GPU you can even render on the GPU (many times faster). In the above tutorial the instructor looks around the scene while it is rendering in almost real-time - thanks to Blender's GPU renderer. Change a material, and see it update in almost real-time. Splendid! Compare that to Photoshop's archaic and dead-slow renderer, and you will never want to go back.
Here are the demo reels for 2014 and 2013 to get a basic idea of what Blender is capable of nowadays. It's insane to think this is freely available to anyone! And if you like After Effects: Blender has smoke and fluid sims, as well as a nodal compositor with full 3d scene and object tracking. Passes can be sent to After Effects and Photoshop for further editing.

  • Problem with opening some of PDFs in Photoshop CS6.

Hi, I have a problem with opening some of PDFs in Photoshop CS6. It is said: it isn't possible to carry out an order since the module of the file format cannot analyse this file

Don’t know if Reader has this, too, but in Acrobat one can check under Document Properties.
I can convert and place the file in Photoshop CS6.
I would recommend trying the usual trouble-shooting routines and if nothing helps un-installing, running the Cleaner and re-installing Photoshop.  (After making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved to s secure location.)

I need to create an animation sequence in photoshop cs6 longer than 5 seconds. please help.

What problem are you having that should be easy just create the layer to make frames with. Create a frame animation in the timeline panel. Create the frames and set their display time. Save an animated gif for the web ie "Save For Web"
Prior to CS6 Photoshop only had a Animation Palette in CS Adobe replaced the palette with the Timeline Palette that can do Frame animations and Video. You can render a fame animation as a video but video does not support transparency like and animated Gif.

  • A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore HELP

Hi, please help with my issue which is as follows:
A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore and sends a message saying that the file is not compatible.
What should I do, I have invested so much in that file and I dont think i will be able to do it all over again.

That's why people do incremental saves and use backups... You could try to open the file in an image viewer like IrfanView and see which parts are salvagable, but that's as good as it gets most likely...

    Re:  filtering with merged cells
I suspect you just added some merged cells that span more then one row.
The best solution is use a backup copy of your workbook from a previous day and to stop merging cells.
Centering text across columns creates an appearance similar to merged cells and doesn't cause problems.
If you don't have a workbook backup copy and can confirm that the problem is caused by merging multiple rows, I have a possible vba code solution for you.

  • Need Help creating an animated GIF in Photoshop CS6 Trail version

    Everyone,
I am new to PS6 and reating animated GIF's and would like to get some guidance.  I am trying
to put the following animation together and very confused when I try to get the section and also
how to add new things to it.  I am running the trial version of PS CS6 on a WIndoes 7 environment.
Trying to ensure that I can do the things I want prior to puchasing the product.
The following is what I want to do:
    1.     With the logo, have it be as if there is a spotlight moving back and forth at medium speed,
shining on the logo.  Wherever the light hits, have that section sparkle. That will be exquisite.
    2.     Have the "CLICK HERE," words alternate starkly (not blending) between white and pumpkin orange.
Again, medium speed. That will be garish, but is okay because it's not part of the designed section.
The file is attached.  I am having trouble trying to select just the "CLICK HERE" portion of the
logo to have the words alternating color.  I cannot figure out how to get a spotlight function to this logo.
Then how to have it sparkle when the spotlight hits the other section of the logo and not have the
spotlight going over to the "Click Here" part of the logo.
I could really use some direction on this and would appreciate it greatly.  Thanx in advance.
    Jerry

The banner does not have to be this large.  Here is a link to using the spotlight with sparkles:
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5012713-285076/371-194/bannerA nimTest2.gif
Also, the spotlight should be just over the "CLICK HERE" section.  If the spotlight could apply in the diameter to the whole text of "Click Here". and use the sparkles,
that would be great and then I can break it out and see how it is done.  Again, it does not have to be this large, maybe a little larger the the size of the first one I posted
would be good.  Then how would I get it to a jpg and gif file?  Thanx in advance.

  • How do I create such an effect in Photoshop CS6?

    Hi All,
I am not a big expert in Photoshop, but I know how to use it. I hope I have chosen the correct community for this question.
I want to create a design similar to something I have found in the internet. I have an image with a white background and a black graphic on top of it.
How can I get a similar result as you can see in this image?
Which filters do I need? What are the steps?
Or do you have a link to a tutorial on the internet, where the steps are described?
Or are there any actions available I could load for free?
    Many thanks and regards,
    Heiko

    Hi,
either I am not getting the point or there us something missing in your description. Sorry, if I am to stupid for that.
Let me repeat what I have done:
    1) I have one layer with a transparent background and my graphic on it (brown color).
    2) I add a new layer and fill it with black.
    3) I do Filter > Noise > Add noise - Use Gaussian and push the amount all the way to the right. (Now I have many different colors there.
    4) We need to use Levels, but as it stands there are no grey tones to work on.  Just full black, and full white, so go Filter > Blur > Blur more to add a tiny amount of blur.
    5) Now we can use levels (Ctrl+L).  We want to push the black slider most of the way to the right, and left slider to the left until it almost meets the black slider. Our aim is to reduce the amount of white specks until looks something like this:
    6) We use Free Transform to expand this layer and make the white specks more spaced out.
    7) Now we'll make an alpha channel from the noise layer.  Just go to the Channels panel, and drag any of the channels (Where is the new channel icon? And which channel do I have to drag?) to the new Channel icon at the bottom of the panel.
    8) Select your graphic layer, and go Select > Load selection, and choose the new channel you made earlier. (This is telling me, that I don't have selected any pixels.)
Rest does not work because of something which is missing above.
    • With the graphic layer selected you could just hit the Delete key to know out the white noise. (This deletes the entire graphic!)
    • Or you could add a layer filled with white above the graphic layer, and with the noise selection active, add a layer mask to the white layer. (I do not really understand this :-( )
    • Or just use your noise layer and set it to Overlay. (Does not work because of an error in a previous step.)
Could you please tell me where I do something wrong or have a misunderstanding?
    Thanks and regards,
    Heiko

  • Error: 16 when I try to launch after install Photoshop CS6

Hi. I had a problem in my MacBook Pro (something to do with permissions) and had to wipe out the entire hard drive and reinstall everything from Time Machine Back Ups. Everything seems to be running again, except Photoshop CS6, which I had just purchased before the problem. When trying to launch it, I got a message urging me to uninstall and reinstall. I did. The installer completed the progress bar but then "unexpectedly quitted". The software seemed to have been installed, but when I tried to launch it, I got Error: 16, and was prompted to uninstall and reinstall again. I did, but same thing happened. Can anyone help?

Whenever I open a warm color image in Photoshop CS6, the color of the image automatically changes? Please see the attached screenshots below.
What is the solution to this problem? Please Help.
    I use Windows 7 Ultimate. Photoshop CS6.
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 2000

There is no "problem" to "fix". A raw file is just the data captured by the sensor, not yet an image. To produce a useful image it needs to be processed in a raw converter, either automatically in-camera or with a standalone converter (ACR).
The camera LCD shows you an in-camera processed jpeg, according to the camera manufacturer's idea of how the raw data should be interpreted. There is nothing inherently "correct" about this, and a lot of the original data have been thrown away in the process.
ACR doesn't make any assumptions about how the final image should look. It shows you a neutral starting point, with default settings to preserve as much of the original data as possible. The rest is up to you. You're not supposed to just accept the defaults. The sliders are there for a reason.
You can change the ACR defaults at any time if you come up with settings that are more to your taste.
