It sounds as if your browser and some of your apps are not color-managed. This is pretty typical. Even IE9 is only partially color-managed.
You can expect color-managed and non-color-managed applications to show you different things with the same images. How different will depend upon how different your monitor color profile is from the image's color profile.
For web publication and most general use, experts usually advise saving images with the sRGB profile. If such images, saved through the Save for Web & Devices function, look different to you than you expect, it may be that your input images have previously been saved in another color space.
You should really try to get your head around color-management by reading more on it. It can seem baffling and it's difficult to understand without some background. A quick web search turns up many overviews. Beware, though, even people writing articles sometimes don't fully understand it.

When I download certain files(most often exe files), I'm not able to open the source folder anymore when the download is complete. Neither can I execute the exe file. It often forces me to redownload the file in google chrome and then I go to the source folder and right click properties and I have to unblock the file. Only then I'm able to start the exe file.
FYI: I use vista, so that might be the problem by itself...It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Your RAW photos are safely in iPhoto - the JPEGs are simply display previews and versions for use by other program --- you can export the RAW by exporting with kind original

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.
Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.

VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. When I download a Numbers file from iCloud to my Mac, it isn't the latest version.
Today I worked on a Numbers file on my iPad 2 from 4:40 pm to 6:30 pm. A few hours later, when I tried to download the file from iCloud to my Mac, none of today's changes appeared. When I looked at it again on the iPad, on the main Numbers page where you choose the file you want, it showed a time of 4:43 pm associated with the file. However, when I opened it, the two hours of work was still there even though the time was off. I tried sending the file as an email and when I opened the email attachment on my Mac, all of today's changes were there. So the new changes are captured when emailing a file but not when downloading it.
It almost seems as if the file hasn't made it off the iPad and into iCloud, but I can't find any information on ways to force that or know if it's been done.Two possible problems. <br />
1. BlackBoard never supports the latest version of Firefox, for a few reasons. Some schools don't run the latest version of BlackBoard Vista or Campus Edition. Also, BlackBoard upgrades seem to be tied to the "school year" cycle, the changes they make to improve and update their software seem to be rolled out for the fall term so that changes aren't being made during the normal "school year" and possibly causing problems for the schools. That also may be a function of their contract / payment cycles with the schools that use their programs.

2. Firefox uses a Plugin ( you have Office Plugin for Netscape Navigator installed) to open files that aren't "internet files", like word processing documents. <br />
I can't help you directly with Office, as I use Open Office, but there should be a preference for that Plugin within your Office preferences or options under something like Internet, to have those files '''Display documents in browser'''. <br />

Mail - I don´t want to download the whole history from Hotmail into my Mac

I don´t know how to just use the Mail in my MacBookPro just as I do in my iphone. I have a Hotmail account with many e-mails that I keep. And I want them to stay there in the Hotmail server only. I don´t want to download them all into my Mac, for what?? But I would still like to use Mail for reading (specially new) Hotmail mails, and to send some when I use my Mac.

I turned mine off, as I have Norton AV. Go into Internet Explorer and check to see if you have that on and try turning that off...and then try to get back onto FF. You may have to restart your computer, I'm not sure, as I'm not a techie. I just know that the Internet Security Software clashed with my Norton AV.

Im Tryin to download IOS -5 to my iphone but I dont want to lose any data.
An update normally keeps all of your personal data on the phone so uou should be ok. Incase anything goes wrong though backup your phone on iTunes so you can easily restore it afterwards.

I just installed iPhoto from the iLife 11 and when I try to play a slide show, it just blinks and shows a whole bunch of pictures at once. I have done many slide shows with no problem in an earlier version of iPhoto. What can I do to fix this?
thats tough man, yeah exchanging it is the best option. But why do people always leave a message saying" i'll probably just by an ipod" and it's usually followed by, "even though i don't like apple or ipod" . I mean fine, if u feel like giving up on the zen micro thats fine, i personally don't care if you're going to buy an ipod. for god sakes ipod isn't even the next alternati've mp3 players, theres plenty. Are u just trying to get the creative people saying "oh man we lost another one to ipod" cuz i'm sure they don't lose sleep over u wanting to buy an ipod instead of a zen. *done ranting*

Itunes didn't re-download the whole album?
I recently went to Check Download Files to put my albums back on my Ipod that I purchased a long time ago.
All of them worked, except for one, which was the album - "The Simpsons: Testify".
It is supposed to have around 30 tracks on it, but Itunes gave me only 19. when I downloaded the whole album (it even says that on my Download Authorization list).
But when I click on "Check for Available Downloads" it says "All purchases have been downloaded for this account, You can burn a CD, DVD or use Shared Folders on your local network to transfer files into another computer"
***?delete the songs you have just purchased from itunes. Then, go to the store and in quick links click on "Purchased". Then find on the top right "Songs not on this computer" (or something similar) and you will find them for download. It's best to download them one at a time and wait for one to complete before moving on to the next one.
