Where are my photos that i import to iphoto?

I have photoshop lightroom and i want to edit photos in there but all of my photos are located in iphoto. do i need to copy them all over to the photos folder of my mac? that seems a bit silly because i am wasting a lot of hard drive space doing this. lightroom doesn't seem to pull the files from iphoto. am i wrong?
thanks

No you are not wrong.
The issue is that iPhoto is a Photo Organiser and so is Lightroom - they both want to manage the files. Lightroom is not a photo editor like Photoshop, and so you cannot integrate the two apps as you would with Photoshop or any other editor.

  • Where are my Photos that I imported using IPHOTO?

I am using IPHOTO 9.  I have about 15,000 pics/videos that I have imported using IPHOTO.  That much stuff takes an enormous amount of my hardrive space on my Macbook Pro, which is only 500GB.  Yesterday I purchased a 2TB Time Capsule.  My intention was to use this as storage for all those pics.  But, I'm reading that isn't a good idea.  I do have a 650 GB external WD HDD that I have moved the Iphoto Library to.  My questions are:  Where are all the original phtos stored that I imported from my camera, and other places into IPHOTO?  How do I access all of those files without stepping through dozens of folders within the Master folder under Iphoto Library?
I purchased PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 11 and Photoshop Elements Organizer.  I wanted to organize all my photos utilizing Photoshop Elements Organizer but I can't seem to find them.  When I go to Import pictures/videos from "Iphoto" under Elements Organizer it takes an extremely long time.  In fact, the dialogue that shows how much time is left and what picture it is on indicates like around picture number 50 of 15,000 after an hour or so.  Just way too long.  So, I don't know what to do?  Anyone that has an idea of how I can better utilize these two programs or just one or the other, would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

This may be of interest to you:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • HT1766 Where are my photos that I backed up from my IPhone?

Where are my photos that I backed up from my IPhone on my mac computer?

You import the pictures from the phone. Windows has a built in utility to import pictures from a digital camera, or in this case the iPhone. It doesn't import from the backup, it imports them directly from the iPhone. You can go into Control Panel and click on AutoPlay to configure what happens when you plug in a digital camera or the iPhone. Otherwise, there are programs like Lawrence has described.

  • Where are my photos I just imported?

We just upgraded to OS 10.9.4 and have iPhoto 9.5.1.
My husband organized our folders last night and today I imported 400 photos from our Sony camera. The organization of the folders he did is not showing up and neither are our photos. I did review them after I imported them so I know they were there in events. Now they are all gone! Help!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Where are my photos put after importing from my camera?

I just started using iPhoto 08 (7.01). When I used to import photos they went into the Pictures Folder then the iPhoto Library folder sorted by year. I have imported pictures for the first time using this latest version and I can't find where the photos go if I want to copy them?

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

  • Where are my photos that I had in my free Photoshop elements gone to

I receive a notice a while ago that stated, all pictures stored in Photoshop elements would be transferred to revel. Well, that never happened. Those pictures are extremely valuable to me b/c they contained photos of my brother who has passed away. How can I get them back? Plz help
    Susan

The pictures that were moved to revel were the photos stored at photoshop.com, not the pictures stored in the organizer on your hard drive. Those should still be exactly where they used to be. How do you know your photoshop.com photos are not at Revel?

  • Where are my photos that I synced to icloud photo library

    Hey everyone,
I used the iOS 8 beta from the first day, and am on 8.02 now. When iCloud Photo Library was announced I enabled it and synced my pictures up to iCloud.
I ended up getting a new phone and tried to sync my photos back from the cloud, but now I see only gray squares where the pictures should be. When I open them up, I get a gray screen with a tiny exclamation point icon in the bottom right corner. I can never really get them to sync. Is there any way to recover these pictures?

    Hi,
sorry to answer to this quite old post. ;-) I am now using the newest IOS with icloud foto. All my pictures are originally stored on the mac and got synced in the cloud. When using my Iphone and opening a picture I always get this exclamation mark on the right bottom corner. But only with no Wifi, but 4G and working internet connection.
    Can you possibly help me?
I already tried turning off the icloud foto and turn it on again on my Iphone.
    Thank you!!

  • Where are the logins that were imported

I have not been able to find where my logins are stored.

You can look here for stored passwords:
*Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
Note that there is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.

  • Where are my photos that i backed up to time machine?

I backed my photos up to my AirPort Time Capsule (3TB) a couple of months ago, and deleted them from may macbook.  Now I can't find them on the Time Capsule.  Any chance they're still there, and, if so, how can I get them back on to my macbook?

They should be in Pictures > iPhoto Library in your Time Machine Backup.

  • Where are my photos on the PC after sync with an iphone?  I know nobody out there is stupid enough to suggest to me that they are encrypted and inaccessible, right?  Seriously?  How stupid would Apple corporation have to be to do something like this?

Where are my photos on the PC after synching with an iphone?  I know nobody out there is stupid enough to suggest to me that they are encrypted and inaccessible, right?  Seriously?  How stupid would Apple corporation have to be to do something like this? That would be just as foolish as making my music unusable on the PC...
Okay, Let's assume that Apple is indeed THAT foolish.......How does one get the photos from the phone to the PC and still use them?

The photos are still on your phone, and if enabled in your Photo Stream. They are not automatically transferred to your computer when syncing.

  • Every time I open iPhoto a window opens telling me that there are 3 photos that have not been imported. Recovered folders are opened with no photos and I cannot find which photos have not been imported. Help please!

Every time I open iPhoto a window opens telling me that there are 3 photos that have not been imported. This happens twice. When I answer yes then nothing happens and if I answer no then a recovered folder is opened with no photos in it. These recoverable folders keep opening with no photos in them. I cannot find which photos have not been imported. Can anyone assist please?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • Where are the "receipts" of the photos that I email from iPhoto?  I have no record that I can find of these.

Where are the receipts of the photos that I email from Iphoto.  I can't find a record of those that I have sent.

I am not using it in a "professional manner".  Even I need to know who I sent that particular photo to and when and by the way, who are you to define what Apple meant by the design of its software?  I think you overstep yourself here.  I also think Apple has made every effort to lead people to believe that it serves a dual purpose as a personal as well as business tool.  I don't need sarcasm from you or anyone when I am trying to learn that which is hidden (or absent) in the software.  Being professional does not necessarily mean for a "business", but rather the level of sophistication and usefulness in the product.

  • Where are my photos saved, how to archive photos

    Hello,
currently I had imported photos from a camera to my MAC by using iPhoto import and event functionality. Now I would like to backup my photos by using rsync. But I can not find my photos as files on the disk.
    Where are my photos saved?
I am a new MAC user with some expirience in Unix qnd Linux.
    Thank you in advance
    Bernhard

    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

  • Where are my photos located?

Where are my photos from PSE 9 located; in what file can I find them.  I am making a slide show using ProShow Gold 4 and I need to access my photos from PSE and move or copy and paste them into the slide show, but I cannot find what file they are located in.
    Thanks,
    Craig

Your pictures could be anywhere, some might even be on a remote disk. Right-click on a thumbnail in the Organiser and select Properties at the bottom of the Popup Menu. In the popup window that appears the file location will be shown, clicking on the folder will open it in the Explorer.
Alternatively: in the Organiser make a selection of all the photo's you want to include in your slideshow. Then select File => Export and save to a convenient (temporary) location. This way you'll have all the photos in 1 location ready for import into your slideshow.

  • HT201317 where are the photo's in icloud?

I am in my icloud on a pc
    signed in etc.
Where are the photo's that are supposed to be in icloud

You can't view photo stream photos on icloud.com.  They can only be viewed on an iOS device or computer that is signed into your account with photo stream enabled.  To set this up on your PC, see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.  Note: when you first enable photo stream on your PC you will only get photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.
