Where are my publishing folders?

I opened up LR3 and several folders are missing, they are still on my HDD, but missing in LR. I imported a few again, then went to publish and most of my publishing folder are missing. The folder are still on the HDD, but not in LR. What is going on? How do I get the publishing folders back without re-creating them? and why are all my imported folders not showing? I have not moved, renamed, or changed the folders on the HDD - I literally was working without issues, then the next time I opened LR - poof, there gone.

One possibility is that you accidentally opened the wrong catalog, look under File->Open Recent
If that doesn't fix the issue, restore a recent backup of your catalog

  • Where are my other folders??

When I try to locate pictures by clicking browse/pictures/iPhoto library/originals, I end up wth a load of folders including floders labeled 2002 to 2006. Where are folders 2007 and 2008??

Why are you using the Finder to locate pictures? It's unnecessary and not recommended. Read Terence Devlin's treatise on file access for use outside of iPhoto. Or use iMedia Browser.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Where are my packed folders???

Hi. A friend was doing some music with me on my computer and packed my existing tracks into a folder so that there are only the 6 tracks he was working on. I can HEAR my previous tracks but I've looked high and low and can't find them ANYWHERE!!
I know they should be on the bottom track in a little folder image, but no such luck. Any clues to where i might find them would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!

    1. You may need to change your zoom (basically, zoom way out) in the arrange page and they will show up.
    2. If this doesn't happen, it means you're already inside a folder. You have to exit the folder (also called "going up one level"). This can be done by a local menu command, or, clicking the little square box in the upper LH corner of the arrange window. (Be aware that if you don't see this little square box, you're not inside a folder).
    3. If all else fails, close your arrange window completely. Then hit CMD+1. That will create a new arrange window and you should see your folders there.

  • Where are the Publishing Tabs?

For 10 years I have been waiting for InDesign to add in real publishing tabs instead of word processing tabs. I had really hoped that CS6 would have it. But there is no mention of this most basic of publishing features. Will we ever see this basic time-saving feature included?
Publishing tabs have a start and a stop. When text goes past the stop, it wraps back to the beginning of the tab. When you press return the cursor jumps to the next line in the tab. When you press tab the cursor jumps back to the top of the next tab so the top lines all align. It really saves a LOT of time having to break, return, and tab text that is too long for a tab column.

Like nearly everyone else here on the forums I'm a customer, too (and I have no affiliation with Adobe beyond my volunteer status here, before you start saying I'm representing the corporate interest). Your proposal wouldn't benefit me one whit, or at least not nearly enough to make me want to forgo something else, like better footnotes, that HUNDREDS, perhaps thousands, of users have been clamoring for for years.
Features cost money. Adobe has a budget for each product and each release. That budget is never large enough to do everything that everyone (including, by the way, a lot of people who DO work for Adobe) would like to see, so things get prioritized and decisions are made based on the waht the perceived benefit will be to the largest user segement. For everything that makes the cut there is something else that doesn't.
If you want to make a case for why this particular feature should become a part of a future version (and Dov, I don't buy the back-porting argument here -- span/split columns is an example of a new feature that just disappears and there's no reason for me to think the limited depth tabs couldn't just be converted to regular tabs and let the user straighten it out if they're foolish enough to back-port), then file a feature request, and be sure to explain how this has an economic impact on a large user segment.
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
And yes, features do get added based on that form. It just doesn't always happen, nor does it happen overnight.

  • Where are my mail folders?

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and lost my mail folder where I would move mail after reading. I think it was a SmartFolder. Also, open to anyone who has suggestions to archiving mail. On Outlook (on my work machine), i simply have a year and month folder in an off-line PST folder.
    thanks,
    mjh

I'm unclear on exactly what happened, but note that a Smart Mailbox is not an actual storage location, it's just a saved search. If you had a Smart Mailbox that you thought was an archival storage location, and you deleted the messages from other mailboxes, then they would have disappeared from the Smart Mailbox as well.
Of course, if the Smart Mailbox has disappeared, something's wrong. The upgrade to Mountain Lion would require some updates to your mailboxes, and if they were corrupt to start with, something easily could have gone wrong in that update process. Do you have any kind of backups from before the upgrade?
As for archiving messages, just create one or more mailboxes in the location where you want the archives stored (probably "On my Mac") and move the messages there. I have every message I sent or received since the beginning of 2005 in a series of "On my Mac" mailboxes.

  • DVD Player - Where are the language folders located?

In attempting to free-up HD space, I accidently deleted ALL of my languages from the Open Apple-I window of DVD Player. They luckily went to the trash, and I recovered the English.Iproj folder. All I need to do is find a home for it, but alas, even Spotlight will not reveal its location. I might add that I was following a recent MacWorld article!

Control-click it, choose Show Package Contents, and put them into the Contents/Resources/ folder.

  • HT1444 where are my mailbox folders

I upgraded from Lion to Mt. Lion 10.8.2 and noticed that the personal mailboxes I created were missing. Researching the mailbox help identified going to Time Maching to get previous copies. When I went to Time Machine backups the only history available was for Mt. Lion all my Lion history is gone.

  • Can't find mail download or mail preference folders in library, where are they?

Can't find mail download or mail preference folders in library, where are they?

adding backing vocals is a feature, I can't find them or how to do it.
The backing vocals are software instruments, listed in the "Choir" section of the software instrument browser. Afaik, the basic GarageBand does not have these instruments. My "choirs" all came with the JamPacks. The JamPacks are no longer sold separately, but if you buy Mainstage 2, you will get all Jam pack instruments and loops to be used with GararageBand; and it is not very expensive (~23 € at the AppStore).

  • Web Folders, where are files and content stored?

When files/content are added to Web Folders, via Portal, where are these files stored? In the database? file system?
Thanks in advance for any answers!

    Thanks for your reply Sandeep,
So I assume a hot or cold back-up of the database/MRU will also backup all Portal content?

  • Upgraded to Lion - where are the Library & Application Support folders ?

Where are the Library & Application Support folders that were available in Leopard 10.5.8 ?

They're in the same location as before, but you need to use a method such as choosing Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and providing ~/Library/Application Support/ as the path.

But there are vertical line between each column almost all the way from the header to the footer. I original though that must be the boarder from each column. but not really. I even delete all the column, or even the for-each@section... Still see the vertical liine. I won't see them at all in the template.

  • Where are PAR and MPEG folders going?

    Hello:
When I used to use DVD SP 2, I'd get the PAR folder every time after I import a file and/or MPEG folder generated when I imported relevant video/stills...now with DVD SP 4, when I do the same thing I don't see any such folders being generated...where are they going; does SP 4 somehow place these automatically somewhere? I even did a FIND search at finder level but no such folders were found...
    Thanks
