Where clause as expression value for parameter?

Is it possible to put a where clause in a expression so I could use as a parameter? I have 3 documents I was going to make as available values, but not sure how to put all of this in the expression.
Where clause:
where document = 'doc1'
and sentdate = (Select max(sentdate) from Communication where document = 'doc1')

According to your description, you want to specify available values for a report parameter.
In Reporting Services, if we want to specify the available values for a report parameter in Report Parameter Properties, we should get those values from specified values or a dataset. When we select the “Specify values” option, we can give each label corresponding
value. When we select the “Get values from a query” option, we should select a dataset which contains documents values. In your scenario, you could create a dataset with where clause to get document values, then specify parameter available values use this
dataset.

We have created a service interface from an application module. That service interface contains views that have view criteria. We have included those criteria in our services.
From my consuming application, i added a data control from webservices by providing the WSDL of the service interface. So far so good...
When i drop the result of a function that is bound to the view criteria to my page, i have to enter four parameters:
fincCriteria of the Object type
areaCode of the String type, this is a parameter we added in the view criteria using a bind variable.
languageCode of the String type, also a custom parameter of the view criteria
findControl of the Object type
In my bindings i can provide the value of areaCode and languaeCode but i don't have a clue what to do with findCriteria and findControl. I left them empty and then i get followign message from the server:

Found some documentation on how to use the service interface from business components and as it appears you can create entity objects based upon the wsdl from the service interface.
Does it mean that i can only use the service interface that way and that when i have for example a dot net application, it can not use that service interface?

How to set the where clause of a value set on the basis of a form field

I am using a DFF(Descriptive FlexField), which needs to display the value of a certain column(say columnA) on the basis of the value of another column(say columnB).
So i have created a value set which points to the table which has both these columns, and the DFF uses this value set. However, the problem is that I have not put any where clause in the value set, because of which i cannot handle the exact fetch returns more than one rows error.
The query has to be as follows:
select ColumnA from tbl where ColumnB = [ a form value ];
What I want to know is how can i get the value of a certain field of a certain block of the form in the above query.

Invalid value for parameter error when value is in list of allowed parameters

I have some documents with a lot of paragraph styles that have been organized into groups. I have a simple script that is meant to ungroup these styles and delete the now-empty groups.

The error I receive is (emphasis mine):

Error Number: 30477
Error String: Invalid value for parameter 'reference' of method 'move'. Expected ParagraphStyle, ParagraphStyleGroup, CharacterStyle, CharacterStyleGroup, CellStyle, CellStyleGroup, TableStyle, TableStyleGroup, Document or Application, but received Document.
As you can see, my pickle is that my value is of an allowed type. This only happens in some documents, and there's nothing that obviously distinguishes those documents from the ones in which it works.
One thing I've noticed is that the error sometimes takes a while to appear (a minute or so), but none of the styles have been moved once I click OK. So, I don't know if it's specific to one style. I doubt it, only because other documents with the same style set work.
Can anyone shed any light on what this error could mean in this context? I definitely have an activeDocument, so what could cause a Document to not be a Document?
Any help much appreciated!

Where-Clause with function(entered static parameter)

I have no clue on the way to deal with this issue.
Basically, for performance, I removed a join with a table, and replaced it by a call to a function within the where clause. This function only convert the entered date into an id, in order to compare with the id in the selected table.
I knew (I think I'm right!!) that if I put a function into a where-clause, then the function is called at each row.
As the parameter of this function is a Discoverer parameter, and therefore, it's a static value, I wanted to know whether with Discoverer, there would be a way to convert the entered Discoverer parameter value into a constant that I could use within my where-clause.
To summarise, hete is the face of my query, at the moment:
SELECT myColumns
FROM myTables
WHERE thisID < myConvertedDate(:RefDate);
I would like to do this :
The User enters the :RefDate, I convert it and save the result into a constant.
Then, my query would look like :
SELECT myColumns
FROM myTables
WHERE thisID < myConstantFromDate;

Hello Nigel,
I am not too sure that the function is called at each row. This is just my thought, from my "average" knowledge of SQL. We cannot run tkprof at the office, in order to get a better understanding.
And also, the fact that goes towards this direction is that, when I add the call to my function in the where-clause, I have the impression that the query runs more slowly than without the call.
I reckon that it would be great if the optimizer notices that the function is called with the same value, and returns always the same result.

Multiple Values for Parameter

I have to create a report that allows the users to choose more than one value on the Parameter. For example, the user may choose 1 and 2, or 1,2,3 or 4,5,6,7 or all.
I can't create lexical parameters because the list of values is 300 rows plus it is dynamically changing. Is this a possibility in Report 6i.
I have search on this forum and can't find any helpful solution. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

In case it is such a long list of values, that is also dinamically changing, consider using a table, eventually a global temporary table to store the parameter values in.
That temporary table (or normal table) should be populated before calling the report or in the afterpform trigger - depends how you generate those values.
Then, in your where clause you should have
... and field1 in (select column1 from temp_table)

HELP: WHERE Clause based on value of the column

I am selecting from a table as follows and want to have a where condition that is dependent of the value of the column, type of the current row.

Luckily I have been able to rectify the problem !
I tried retrieving the output using LISTCUBE to show the SID of the InfoObject also for which I was unable to get the data. After the report successfully gave the output for those I/O, I checked again I could see the data in the I/O maintain master data !
It worked like magic to me !
But I could guess that since it is a virtual I/O therefore it is not able to retrieve the data from the table directly and is able to do that only after the SID of this I/O is retrieved.
(If a characteristic does not have any master data, the values from the SID table are displayed for the "Values in Master Data Table" mode.)

WHERE clause creating a join for two or more tables

The CS3 Dreamweaver book says that the WHERE clause can
create a join for two or more tables. The join was created, but the
data is repeating. I have searched the web and this forum and have
not found the answer.
My Master page filters the recordset by Style No and when a
customer clicks on a particular style, it sends him to the Detail
page. All the records are showing from all tables on the detail
page from the Dynamic List, except they are showing multiple times
(ex. Size table has 4 sizes and Color table has 2 colors - my Size
Drop Down list is showing 8 options and my Color Drop Down List is
showing 8 options) I have a Master Page with a recordset pointing
to a Detail Page using the same recordset.
Master page works perfectly.
Master Recordset SQL:
SELECT products.itemID, products.category, products.styleno,
products.name, products.description, products.ourprice,
products.imageTH, products.image, coloroption.color,
sizeoption.size
FROM products, coloroption, sizeoption
WHERE category = 'chefcoats' AND
products.styleno=sizeoption.styleno AND
products.styleno=coloroption.styleno
GROUP BY products.styleno
ORDER BY styleno ASC
The Detail Recordset:

Where used in web templates for parameter groups

Does SAP deliver any where used functionality for parameter groups? I need a report or function that can take as input a parameter group (fully qualified) and deliver back all the web layouts and planning folders that the parameter group (or for that matter global planning sequence) is used.
I can find the XML of the web templates but that is a bear to parse and have not found the tables that show the details of planning folders (if any).

we don't have a where-used functionality but in SAP NetWeaver 2004s you can use programs UPC_CUSTOMIZING (for BPS0), UPB_CUSTOMIZING (for folders) and UPWB_CUSTOMIZING (for web interfaces) to display and search through the configuration. It's one folder or web interface at a time but it's certainly quicker than doing it manually.

Where clause with null values

I need to have a where clause but either/both of the two attributes compared could be null. How can I make this work, atm it just returns no records even though rows do exist.

I think you didn't read correctly what I wrote. I said:
"Even if a column is unique you still can have several nulls in it"
So I didnt speak about the case where you have severeal columns in a unique constraint but only ONE.
SQL> CREATE TABLE tab1 (col1 number);
Table created.

SQL> INSERT INTO tab1 VALUES (1);

And even if you have a unique constraint over several columns you can still have more than on records containing only nulls in all fields related to that unique contraint.
