Where is SQL*Loader?

Hello,
I deselected several packages during installation of Oracle 9i client. After that, I couldn't find
the SQL*Loader (sqlldr.exe) anywhere in the directory tree. Which package should I pick to have
the SQL*Loader installed?
Regards,
Fangtu

I beleive sql*loader is part of the server tech stack, not the client tech stack.
You should check the server cd for it.

  • Where Clause SQL Loader

    Hi,
Please could someone give me the syntax for expressing a where clause in SQL Loader control file? as an example i only want the data in the columns to be uploaded where person_id matches the person_id already present in the table.
My control file is below which needs amending to include a 'Where'. The append will also need changing i assume.
    load data
    infile '/app/DEV/appl/xxcpp/11.5.0/bin/TEST.csv'
    APPEND
    into table XXCPP_SQL_LOADER_TEST
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
    ( PERSON_ID, EMP_NAME, EMP_NUMBER, START_DATE DATE "fmDD/MM/RRRR" )
    Many Thanks

SQL*Loader has very limited conditional load capabilities. WHEN clause does not support OR (and it is documented). Anyway, you could do the following. Control file:
    load data
    infile *
    APPEND
    into table XXCPP_SQL_LOADER_TEST
    When Person_id = '1'
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
    ( PERSON_ID POSITION(1), EMP_NAME, EMP_NUMBER, START_DATE DATE "fmDD/MM/RRRR" )
    into table XXCPP_SQL_LOADER_TEST
    When Person_id = '2'
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
    ( PERSON_ID POSITION(1), EMP_NAME, EMP_NUMBER, START_DATE DATE "fmDD/MM/RRRR" )
    into table XXCPP_SQL_LOADER_TEST
    When Person_id = '3'
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
    ( PERSON_ID POSITION(1), EMP_NAME, EMP_NUMBER, START_DATE DATE "fmDD/MM/RRRR" )

  • Where is SQL LOADER and How i can use

where is and where i can find and run SQL LOADER. because i want to import data from ms excel.
    regards.

SQL*LOADER is right there on your system if you have successfully installed any of the oracle database products.
Depending on your OS the version of the product you installed then you can invoke it from the OS command prompt. For example in windows OS and with oracle 8.0 product then issue sqllrd80 (or something like that!!). You can check what loader is actually on your system by searching for the sqlldr.*
Also refer to oracle 8 documentation for further explanation. I hope this helps.

  • SQL*Loader with Stored Procedure slow

I have a situation where if SQL*Loader is running then stored procedures returning cursors are excruciatingly slow (about 3 minutes) if the same stored procedure is run via SQL statements it runs fine. The stored procedures also run fine if SQL*Loader is not running. Has anyone seen this before, any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    ed

    My query was:
    SELECT *
    FROM scheme.table@as400 a
    WHERE a.vlvalr = to_char(p_vlvalr)
    and a.vlvals = to_char(p_vlvals);
Without the to_char! When I add the to_char, the problem is solved!

  • Where is the documentation on SQL Loader

I am trying to use the SQL loader and don't know how to create a control file. Can somebody direct me to the right documentation?

You dont create a control file. You use it to load data files that are not formatted for Oracle.
Oracle doesnt really come with any documentation. You will need to go to the store and look for a book.

SuSe 6.2 have a patch file for Oracle made from their developers.
Never use Oracle 8.1.5.0.1 patch file that doesn't work because

Use SuSe 6.2 Oracle patch set.
(don't remember the web page where you can download it but a

  • SQL Loader Inserts chr(13) and chr(10) in the first column of every row.

    Hi,
I have exported a data in a pipe delimited file using TOAD in one database. Now I want to load the data in my local database using SQL Loader. However every time I try to load the data a double quote followed by a new line is entered for the first column of each row. Unfortunately the delimited file is very big and hence can't be posted here. However I tried the same with a customized table and its data and found the same problem. Below are the table structures and control file that I used.
    create table test_sql
    a varchar2(30),
    b date
    insert into test_sql values('51146263',sysdate-3);
    insert into test_sql values('51146261,sysdate-1);
    EXPORTED PIPE DELIMITED FILE_
    A|B|!##!
    51146261|04/14/13 4:55:18 PM|!##!
    51146263|04/12/13 4:55:32 PM|!##!
    create table test_sql1 as select * from test_sql where 1=2;
    CONTROL FILE_
    OPTIONS(SKIP=1)
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'C:\Users\Prithwish\Desktop\Test.txt' "str '!##!'"
    PRESERVE BLANKS
    INTO TABLE TEST_SQL1
FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    A CHAR(2000),
    B DATE "MM/DD/YYYY HH12:MI:SS AM"
    select * from TEST_SQL1;
After this when I paste it in notepad I get the following result
    A B
    51146261"     14-APR-0013 16:55:18
    51146263"     12-APR-0013 16:55:32.
I have no idea how the quotes or the newline appear. Is this a Toad bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really urgent.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    Hi Harry,
I actually thought that the str !##! was causing the problem. Actually my original export has some new lines in some specific columns so I can't keep the new line as my line terminator and hence I kept the !##! as my terminator.
When I put the same data in a notepad and load it there is no problem at all. For e.g I just typed the following in a notepad and the data loaded just fine.
    A|B|!##!
    51146261|01-01-01 10:10:10 AM|!##!
    51146263|01-01-01 11:11:11 AM|!##!
Its just when I load the exported file there the problem arises though I have verified the file using UNIX as well using octal dump and found no hidden characters.

Thanks for any help with this one!

I changed one line of the function to:
    RETURN CHAR IS mco_id VARCHAR2(16);
But I still get the same error:
ORA-12899: value too large for column "TESTM8"."LET_DRIVE_IN_FCLTY"."DIF_CSA_ID" (actual: 30, maximum: 16)
I just am not seeing what is being defined as 30 characters. Any ideas much appreciated!

  • How do I skip footer records in Data file through control file of sql*loade

    hi,
I am using sql*loader to load data from data file and i have written control file for it. How do i skip last '5' records of data file or the footer records to be skiped to read.
For first '5' records to be skiped we can use "skip" to achieve it but how do i acheive for last '5' records.
    2)
Can I mention two data files in one control file if so what is the syntax(like we give INFILE Where we mention the path of data file can i mention two data file in same control file)
    3)
If i have datafile with variable length (ie 1st record with 200 charcter, 2nd with 150 character and 3rd with 180 character) then how do i load data into table, i mean what will be the syntax for it in control file.
4)if i want to insert sysdate into table through control file how do i do it.
    5) If i have variable length records in data file and i have first name then white space between then and then last name, how do i insert this value which includes first name and last name into single column of the table.( i mean how do you handle the white space in between first name and last name in data file)
    Thanks in advance

You should read the documentation about SQL*Loader.

  • How to handle Multiple date formats for the same date field in SQL*Loader

    Dear All,
I got a requirement where I need to get data from a text file and insert the same into oracle table.
I am using SQL*Loader to populate the data from the text file into my table.
The file has one field where I am expecting date date data in multiple formats, like dd/mon/yyyy, yyyy/dd/mon, yyyy/mon/dd, ,mm/dd/yyyy, mon/dd/yyyy.
While using SQL*Loader, I can see Loading is failing for records where we have formats like yyyy/dd/mon, yyyy/mon/dd, mon/dd/yyyy.
Is there any way in SQL*Loader where we can mention all these date formats so that this date data should go smoothly into the underlying date column in the table.
    Appreciate your response on this.
    Thanks,
    Madhu K.

The point being made was, are you sure that you can uniquely identify a date format from the value you receieve? Are you sure that the data stored is only of a particular limited set of formats?
e.g. if you had a value of '07/08/03' how do you know what format that is?
    It could be...
    7th August 2003 (thus assuming it's DD/MM/RR format)
    or
    8th July 2003 (thus assuming it's MM/DD/RR format)
    or
    3rd August 2007 (thus assuming it's RR/MM/DD format)
    or
    8th March 2007 (thus assuming it's RR/DD/MM format)
    or even more obscurely...
    3rd July 2008 (MM/RR/DD)
    or
    7th March 2008 (DD/RR/MM)
Do you have any information to tell you what formats are valid that would allow you to be specific and know what date format is meant?
This is a classic example of why dates should be stored on the database using DATE datatype and not VARCHAR2. It can lead to corruption of data, especially if the date can be entered in any format a user wishes.

  • Sql@loader-704  and ORA-12154: error messages when trying to load data with SQL Loader

I have a data base with two tables that is used by Apex 4.2. One table has 800,000 records . The other has 7 million records
The client recently upgraded from Apex 3.2 to Apex 4.2 . We exported/imported the data to the new location with no problems
The source of the data is an old mainframe system; I needed to make changes to the source data and then load the tables.
The first time I loaded the data i did it from a command line with SQL loader
Now when I try to load the data I get this message:
    sql@loader-704 Internal error: ulconnect OCISERVERATTACH
ORA-12154: tns:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I've searched for postings on these error message and they all seem to say that SQL Ldr can't find my TNSNAMES file.
I am able to  connect and load data with SQL Developer; so SQL developer is able to find the TNSNAMES file
However SQL Developer will not let me load a file this big
I have also tried to load the file within Apex  (SQL Workshop/ Utilities) but again, the file is too big.
So it seems like SQL Loader is the only option
I did find one post online that said to set an environment variable with the path to the TNSNAMES file, but that didn't work..
Not sure what else to try or where to look
    thanks

    Hi,
You must have more than one tnsnames file or multiple installations of oracle. What i suggest you do (as I'm sure will be mentioned in ed's link that you were already pointed at) is the following (* i assume you are on windows?)
    open a command prompt
    set TNS_ADMIN=PATH_TO_DIRECTOT_THAT_CONTAINS_CORRECT_TNSNAMES_FILE (i.e. something like set TNS_ADMIN=c:\oracle\network\admin)
This will tell oracle use the config files you find here and no others
then try sqlldr user/pass@db (in the same dos window)
see if that connects and let us know.
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • SQL Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be = [10000000]

    Hi,
running SQL*Loader (Release 8.1.7.2.1) causes an error "SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be <= [10000000]". This error occurs when SQLLoader is trying to load several thousand records into a database table. Each record is less than 250 bytes in length.
Any idea what could cause the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

As a second guess, the terminator changes or goes missing at some point in the data file. If you are running on *NIX, try wc -l data_file_name.  This will give a count of the number of lines (delimited by CHR(10) ) that are in the file.  If this is not close to the number you expected, then that is your problem.
You could also try gradually working through the data file loading 100 records, then 200, then 300 etc. to see where it starts to fail.
