Where is the spinning indicator when email is being seny?

I noticed recently that I don't having a spinning indicator when I am sending out email on my newly purchased Imac. It does appear on my G4 though. I can't seem to find anything in preferences that pertain to it. Any suggestions? Safari 2.0.4. Thanks.

Glad you posted back.
On my PPC machine, I'm using Mail 2.1 (752/752.2). Yes, I've been able to confirm that Send turns to Sending with a spinning gear during transmission, regardless of the file size. There is no setting for this action. It would be part of the Mail app's framework.
Unless someone else has another suggestion, you may find relief by a "reinstall of the Mail app". Guidance from Apple for doing so may be found here. After the reinstall, you'll need to bring Mail up to its current version relative to the Install version on the DVD. To do so, reapply the 10.4.9 combo update, "repairing permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder after the install/restart.
Do not use the computer while the upgrade is running.

Getting the spinning wheel when switching between accounts

Hi all,
I am getting the spinning wheel when switching between accounts on a mac mini. There are two accounts and quite often when we go from one to the other we get the spinning beachball after putting in the password to log in. I am finding the only real solution to be is to put the machine to sleep (button at the back for a sec or two) wait for it to go to sleep and then wake it up and it mostly will then log in and keep working.
It's an older intel dual core mac mini with an upgraded HDD. I previously had an iMac running snow leopard where the same problem occured and recently migrated over the account to the mini running Lion. It seems to be happening more often.
I also seem to remember that occasionally when using say Pages you would get the spinning beachball and then you would have to hit the desktop or go to another program and then back to pages to get it working again.

Does it occur no matter which way you're going say? i.e, both from
User 1 -> User 2
User 2 -> User 1
If its only one way, have a look at the 3rd party loginitems for the account your going to. If its both ways, see what 3rd party loginitems both accounts have in common. The best (though time consuming) way to eliminate the culprit is to remove all 3rd party apps from loginitems and add them in one at a time, testing for the problem each time.
If you get the BSOD while actually logged in (say, while using Pages), try running activity monitor (or use terminal.app with the command 'top -u' (without the quotation marks)), and see if you can notice any process running at more than 30%CPU.

Yeah - I tried that, several times; each time I get "iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone" and after about 30 minutes the screen on the phone lights up again with the same screen I had before. After that ... nothing.

Although the documentation says you can copy Time Machine backups in the Finder, it's very slow and sometimes doesn't work at all.
Launch Disk Utility, open the built-in help, and search for the term "Duplicate." Follow the instructions. All existing data on the destination volume will be erased. That shouldn't be a problem, because you don't want to mix backup and non-backup data on the same drive anyway. Turn Time Machine OFF in its preference pane while copying the volume.

Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?

They don't sync with iTunes. You access them from another application on your computer. For me, I use Photoshop Elements to get pictures and videos off my iPhone when it's synced. Mac users can use iPhoto to do the same thing.
Also, on the PC you can drill down into the iPhone folder structure from your Explorer window and copy/paste the videos onto your PC.

If you have successfully downloaded Mountain Lion it will be in your Applications folder "Install OS X.app"

It could be that the your work router/network is blocking those sites. Some work networks do block some sites.
You can also try another browser like the Chrome browser available from the App store.

Is it possible to email quiz results without the notification that an email is being sent?

I have created a captivate for use as a tutorial. There are quiz slides spread throughout the captivate. we are going to receive the results via email. is it possible to set it so once they hit the button to send email that it automatically sends without the notification that an email is being sent? currently the warning message pops up giving the option to allow or deny the content from being sent. is there something in the settings that can be changed to just send it...possilbly like the HTML version? any info would be helpful,.

Where's the *.pkg go when you do Software Update??

Very interesting questions here....
When updating certain programs, specifically the Pro apps, there is a delta update that you can download from apple.com or you can just do Software Update and gets to the update that way.
My question is when you update using Software Update, and a download of a delta patch is completed and the program updates the app, there is a receipt left in /Library/Receipts, but where does the *.pkg end up? I look in /Library/Packages and can not find it. I am sure there is a secure pathname that is locked.
I would like to find these *.pkg to keep as they are smaller than the dmg's you can download from apple.com. So, just in case I need to re-install these updates I could do this just from these packages; either using Pacifist another app.

first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
When you download the standalone installers from the Apple download page they are at your default download location.
If you used Software Update there are 3 options: Install, Install&Keep, Download only.
In the first case (which is also the default() the package is deleted after the installation. In both other cases the packages are kept in /Library/Packages.

actually discussions are of two types in portal...one you start at any folder or document level and second is you start under ur HOME role in discussion .
First type of discussion is stored in /collaboration repository and second type of discussion is stored in /discussiongroup repository. you can find these repository in content admin -> km content
