Which DAQ card can give accurate specified sampling rate

Dear friends:
I have an application to sample the data from an analogue device with user specified sampling rate, e.g.171KHz. May I know which NI DAQ card can specify any sampling rate below 200KHz within tolerance  of inaccuracy of 1KHz? Appreciate for your help
Andy

Do you need both accuracy *and* precision?
Precision will largely be determined by quantization effects as the sample clock must be an integer divisor of the board's master timebase.  For example, the 6259 M-series board that I commonly use has an 80 MHz master timebase which can be used to generate the sample clock.  In fact, I'm pretty sure it *is* used by default.   The nearest integer divisor when requesting 171 kHz will be 468, producing an actual nominal sample rate of 170.9402... kHz.  (A divisor of 467 would produce a nominal sample rate of 171.3062...)     The quantization doesn't really scale linearly over wide ranges of target sample rate, but for rates in the vicinity of 171 kHz, quantization steps are a bit less than 0.4 kHz, so you can expect to hit your target to within about +/- 0.2 kHz.
Next you need to consider clock accuracy.  The 6259 board is rated at 50 parts per million accuracy at nominal temperature of 25 C.  I don't know the temperature effect or whether you need to concern yourself with it in your app.  But 50 parts per million on a target of 171 kHz amounts to less than 0.01 kHz accuracy error.
So it would appear that the 6259 would be a candidate.  There are likely other cheaper M-series boards that could also work.  The older E-series had only a 20 MHz timebase, which would lead to quantization error of about 1.5 kHz.  Don't recall their accuracy specs, but quantization already puts you over your error budget.

An AC signal is nothing more than a constantly changing DC voltage.  Ok, there's more to it than that.  But still, the DAQ takes quick snapshots of what the signal voltage is at a given instant.  If you take enough of these snapshots, you can recreate the signal.  Niquist states that you need to sample at at least twice the bandwidth of your AC signal.  I recommend more of 3-5 times.

  • Which daq card supports to perform fft operation on complex analog signal

i need to process complex analog waveform for radar based applications.i need a suitable daq card for doing that task.please specify suitable card and application notes to perform dsp based applications.

The answer to your question depends largely on the sample rate, resolution, and number of channels you want to have. The first place I would look is the M Series devices at  http://www.ni.com/dataacquisition/mseries.htm. Using LabVIEW, these analog input devices can read in a signal and easily perform an FFT on it.

  • Which WiFi cards can be installed in the X121e (AMD E-350 Version)?

    Hi,
I'm running Linux and the available firmwares for the RealTek rtl8818ce in the X121e with AMD processor is hopeless, so I've though about replacing the card. Now apparently the BIOS has some sort of card-whitelist so the question is with which cards can I replace the RealTek?

To check the compatible wifi cards you would want to check the hardware maintainence manual of your machine.

The pther way which is not recommende is to flash the bios to a unofficial version which would allow any hardware installed in your laptop.

  • Which Airport card can I install in my iBook?

    Hi.
I have a 12in iBook early 2004 model (1.07 GHz). Now I want to buy and install an Airport card. Can I use an Airport Extreme card on this computer or do I need to get an earlier version of the Airport card? The web site says: 'The AirPort Extreme Card can be installed only in computers that are AirPort Extreme ready. AirPort Extreme Cards cannot be used in AirPort-ready computers with an AirPort Card slot'.
Basically, which airport card is compatible with my iBook? I have not found any info on this web site.
    Thanks,
    Oskar

All iBook G4's (except of course those that come with the wireless interface factory-installed) use the Apple Airport Extreme card.

  • How can I change the sample rate (delta X)?

Hi, I create vi which can measure resistance, it will record the data and write to a file.
however, I want to change the sample rate which is delta x. is that anyway I can do?
I have try to put a clock inside the loop, it does slow down the speed but not the sampling rate.
    Please help me!!
    Thank you!

    Hello Shan405,
Adjusting the Reading Rate of a DMM
As noted in the above DeveloperZone article, there are a lot of factors contributing to a reading rate of a DMM. 'Sampling rate' can only be configured in digitizer mode, which can only be achieved on the flex DMMs
Using the NI PXI-407x DMM as an Isolated Digitizer

  • Converting Units in LabView and specifying sampling rate with Universal Library functions

    Hi,
I am having trouble converting units in LabView 7.0 and having it write to a file / output on a chart in Nm instead of in volts.  I can't seem to find any straightforward instructions, eventhough it seems like a simple task.
Another task that would seem rather simple is changing the sampling rate with the XAIn program from the Universal Library for LabView (this is version 5.40).
If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it - I have tried other sources without much luck!
    Thanks
    Jenna

Are you really needing to change units or do you need to scale the voltages read from your sensors? If it's scaling, it would be trivial to set this up in mAX or with the DAQ Assistant if you were using an NI board. Since you are not, then you could use the Scaling and Mapping Express VI. The y axis of a chart is just a label. You can use the text tool to change it to anything you want.
I have no idea how to change sample rate for your board. Have you asked the vendor?

  • Why LV 6.1 and Nidaq 6.9.3 can't acquire low sampling rate and high frame size

My platform is LV 6.1, Nidaq 6.9 on win98
Everytime i want to acquire data with sampling rate 6 Hz
and frame size 7200, it acquire just 2 or more data (under 10 data), never 7200 data.

    Greetings,
I assume by "frame size" you are referring to the numbers of samples to acquire. Please launch the "Find Examples" browser in LabVIEW 6.1. Open the example "Acquire N Scans.vi." This VI has only 4 inputs. After setting your device and channel you will set number of scans to acquire to 7200 and your scan rate will be 6. Since you're only acquiring at 6Hz and wanting 7200 samples, this VI will take 20 minutes to run. At that point the graph will be updated with your data.

  • Can anybody recommend me on the strain gauges which are attached along a steel bar, say, 3 mm in diameter, and can respond at a sampling rate of 100 kHz?

Or anybody has similar application, it would be very grateful if you can share your experience.

Many thanks for your information. We are about to investigate the dynamic performance of soil anchorage subject to dynamic impulse in a geotechnical centrifuge. Basically, 5 model anchorages (3 mm in diameter) are to be constructed. Each model anchorage is instrumented with 1 accelerometer, 1 load cell and 6 strain gauges. Therefore, the minimum instrumentation would be
    1) 30 strain gauges
    2) 5 accelerometers
    3) 5 load cells
It is worth noting that all the instruments would eventually reside in a geotechnical centrifuge operating in a 10g gravitational field. Whilst the DAQ system would experience much less 'g force' since they are to be placed close to the rotation axis of the machine.
These model anchorages would be tested one by one dyn
amically on each individual basis, whilst the other four are also preferably to be monitored during the tests. For an active model anchorage which is under testing, simultaneous sampling is preferred for its 8 sensors to be measured at the same instant in time (Besides, it is also understood that the natural frequency of the model anchorage is estimated to be in the range of several kHz). For the other four model anchorages, simultaneous sampling could be less demanding. It would therefore be ideal that simultaneous sampling can be switched among the active testing model anchorages.
I am greatly appreciated if you can further advise me on this. Thanks in advance.

  • Which audio cards can be bus powered using the Thunderbolt to firewire adapter ?

    Hi
I was surprised to hear that the new TB to FW adapter let pass only 7W maximum, when the official Firewire specifies 7W _minimum_. On paper this means that my RME FireFace400, for example, can't be bus powered any more since it needs 13 w.
I think a list of TB > FW adapter compatible audio cards would be useful for all potential MB Air and MBP Retina users who are not ready to carry external batteries all the time

Using the Ultralite with FW-TB adapter here without issue... with or withou external power.. though admittedly i use with with an external power supply 90% of the time.
So, check the adaptor itself.. Some of them have been reported as having loose connections.. when plugged into the Mac... so shut down your MBP (Important to do this.. don't just restart it or put it to sleep) take the adaptor itself out of the back of the Mac... and reinsert. Wait at least 2 minutes (Also important..)  and then start Mac up and it should reset and be back to normal operation.
If that doesn't work.. try doing a full PRAM reset too...

No idea about Win 8 because i don't use it... but it does work fine with Win 7 and the correct drivers... Just make sure you install/update to the latest Boot Camp (Don't even think about trying to use Audio stuff via any of the Windows emulators/virual rigs....such as VMware Fusion for example.. You are asking for lots of trouble trying that...) and it's drivers.. for the FW to TB adapter to be properly recognised by Win 7...

  • I have destroyed the motherboard of a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro. How do I find out the technical specifications so I can give accurate information to someone who buys it for parts?

I recently had an unfortunate incident with a glass of water and a mid 2009-MacBook Pro. 13 inch screen.
According to the techs at the genius bar, the screen, keyboard, chassis and hard drive (160g) were still all good - as were all components other than the Motherboard.
I just completed the complete erasure of the hard drive, but don't have the technical specifications at my disposal.
Does anyone know how I can get them - the guy at apple said he didn't think he could help?
    Serial No. Is available.
