Which file must I modified for my terminal services prompt

When I Launch Terminal Bash the prompt I get is the following:
Firstname-Lastname-MacBook:~Username$
I just want to have $, which file must I change, and what changes must occur.
Thank you.

Just in case you are not familiar with shell scripting rules, you would use a utility such as
nano .bash_profile
and set PS1 to
PS1='$ '
It is important that you use single quotes to protect the $ from being seens as a bash substitution character.
It is also important that the PS1=' all be packed together. No spaces, tabs, or anything else between those characters.
If you actually know all of this, just consider it information for some future person asking this question.

  • How to configure windows services alerts in SCOM 2012 for all agent servers. For eg, Terminal Services, Netlogon, RPC etc..

    Hi,
I need to configure different windows services alerts in SCOM 2012. Below are some of the windows services I need to monitor through SCOM.
    Serivce: Windows Management Instrumentation
    Service: Netlogon
    Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    Service: Server Service
    Service: Terminal Services
    Service: Windows Time
    Service: Workstation
    Service : WWW Publishing Service
Could some one please assist or share me the details, how to configure these services for windows agent servers.
    Thanks..
    Regards, Rajeev Parambil

    Hi,
A certain set of services are monitored by default on all agents:
    DNS Client
    DHCP Client
    RPC
    Workstation
    Server
For all the other services you could create a service monitor.
A nice blog series outlining this process can be found here: http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2011/03/16/scom-monitoring-a-service-part1
It's doing common things uncommonly well that brings succes. Check out my SCOM link blog:

  • Which properties file should be modified for DocumentBuilderFactory

I am creating a Document object using the following lines of code. Unfortunately, the DocumentBuiderFactory, by default looks for a namespace org.xml.... Which means that I get a parsing error when I am not connected to the net. Can someone point out which properties file needs to be modified to prevent this error from occuring.
    // Build the request document
    DocumentBuilderFactory builderFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = builderFactory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document response = builder.parse(in);
    Thanks in advance

Did you ever figure this problem out? If so, could you provide me with some advice about it?

  • Which file type to use for editing

I recently filmed a school talent show to create DVDs for the parents. I'll be using PrE 9 to edit. I understand the output for the movie will need to be MPEG2 for the DVD. We used three different cameras (I know this is a bad thing to do with PrE), but we used what we have available. Though, we did use a GoPro Hero2 mounted on the piano to give a unique perspective. Consequently I need to convert the video files into a common format for editing. Is there a "best" file format to edit in or is there a file format that is easiest to work with in Premiere Elements while maintaining the best quality for the DVD output?
    Here is what we used:
Camera 1 (with the audio track from the sound board) was a Canon Vixia HF300. It exported in the dreaded .mts format (half the show at 24mbps and half at 17mbps)
Camera 2 was a Nikon 5100 as .mov files, 1920x1080, H.264, Linear PCM, Total bit rate 19k
    Camera 3 was a GoPro Hero 2 recorded .mp4 1280x780 H.264 Total bit Rate 15k
Since the aspect ratios are not equivalent, I plan on using black bars as opposed to cropping.
I'm editting on an Apple MacBookPro 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8gb RAM running OSX 10.7
Also, should I use Quicktime to convert these files into the common format I choose? Ironically, all this footage is editable in iMovie, but iMovie is horrible for multi-camera.
    Thanks,
    Ed

Over on the Windows side of the aisle where I am, I would say convert all to DV AVI since the end will be a DVD, not a BluRay

  • Which files must be saved ??

Hello, I am cleaning out old projects to make drive space. I want to try to burn to DVD the files which would be needed to restore and edit a project.
There is a folder "Final cut Pro Documents" in it are folders "audio render files", "Autosave Vault", Capture Scratch, Render files, Thumbnail Cache files, and , Wave form cache files.
If I save all of these folder plus the actual project file is this all I need to re-edit later on?

#4 Backing up a finished project.
Shane's Stock Answer #4: What do I need to backup when the project is finished?
FCP Manual, Vol. IV, pg 24
When you are done editing your project and have delivered the final master, all you really need to backup are your project file, any music, sound effects and graphics or pictures that were used in your project. To DVD typically, or CD if there isn't that much. The media...the captured material...needn't be backed up, it is impractical to do so. As long as you have the source tapes and the project file, all you need to do is recapture the material by batch capturing. Assuming you captured the tapes with timecode.
It is also wise to keep a copy of the final project as well. Either on tape or as a self contained Quicktime movie.

  • How do I import a large iPhoto library into an iMac running Yosemite without losing the existing division of the library into albums?which file do I look for on the older Mac, running Snow Leopard?

    Import of library

You don't import one library into another.  Simply copy the library from the older Mac to the Pictures folder on iMac.  If you already have a library on the iMac rename it first.
Next launch iPhoto on the new iMac with the Option key held down and select the newly copied library.
If you have photos in the original library on the iMac you can merge that library into the larger, copied library with the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager.  Or if you also have Aperture 3.3 you can use it to merge the two libraries.

  • SCCM 2007 R2 Query - Look for Win2k8 servers where Terminal Services is installed.

    Hi there.
I have been looking all over the net. That's how it feels ;-D. I'm trying to a find out how to create a query that I can use in a SCCM Collection. This query should result in only Windows 2008 Servers where Terminal Services have been installed.
So far I have tried at least ten different ways of doing this. With no prevail. So I hope you guys can assist me.
    1) Create a collection.
    2) Create a query.
    a. The query should only find Windows 2008 Server where Terminal Services is installed.
    3) Then I can distribute only to these servers.
Thank you. Your help is highly appreciated.
    Regards.

Hmm... Well, keeping in mind that from my point of view, there is no reason to not install the client on every box in the enterprise.  What's the reason to not install the client?  If there's a political reason, like those boxes belong to some other team who doesn't want you touching their servers, why are you responsible for ensuring Terminal Services is installed?  Make *them* come up with an alternate method to confirm that.
Just deploy the client and move on.
I cannot think of a single way to determine if Terminal Services is installed without either the ConfigMgr Client installed, or a different administrative tool tell you that.  Whether that other Admin tool is a remote script you design & run, or if you have some other tool available (would SCOM be able to be configured to report that?  Maybe.), I have no suggestions for you other than logging into each server interactively and looking manually.
Which brings me full circle back to: just install the ConfigMgr client.
Slightly OT: once they have the client installed, you could then create a DCM Baseline so that you could run a report and see which ones might have 'drifted' from the approved configuration.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

  • File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks on Windows server 2008

    Hi Expert,
I found that the properties of File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks service disabled after I install the windows server 2008 64bits. I tried to install that service via adding the file and printer sharing services in the properties of local area connection, but it doesn't contain any service in the popup box.  Also, no such service file available in the disk when I tried to install the service from installation disk of windows server 2008 64bits. Is the file "sacsrv.dll" corresponding to the service name of file and printer sharing? I found it is in the directory of "Windows\system32".  I have no idea about where is the problem? Do I miss some components? Please tell me what can I do for it? Thanks!
    Best Wishes,

Do any experts know the reason of this problem?  Thanks!

  • Getting Terminal Service Profile Path

We are provisioining users to the Active Directory. However, using Xpress/Java, how can the AD's Terminal Services Profile Path can be retrieved by IDM. Basically, i would like to retrieve this information before the the account is deprovisioned.
    Edited by: user6420881 on 3/10/2010 23:45

I dont see much hope with Java/Xpress to set the Terminal Services group of attributes.
There is no LDAP attribute named 'Terminal Services Profile Path' which is the problem. All these Terminal Services "attributes" are bundled up as a set of User Parameters. I think MS had to do this for historical reasons with NT4.
Unless the AD Gateway service has support for Terminal Services builtin (check the documentation) the only way I can see to set these is by Using Powershell or some MS script based solution called as an After Update or After create action. But that's setting only IDM -> AD.
Reading these strings back to IDM is hard.. maybe a Powershell script can decode the TS blob and store the strings in CustomAttributes ???
I know this TS stuff is a pain.

  • Settings for idempotent enterprise services in ECC

    Hi,
I want to use enterprise service ECC_GOODSMOVEMENTCRTRC1 / GoodsMovementERPCreateRequestConfirmation_In_V1 within a nonSAP application to post GoodsMovements at an ECC system.
    http://es-workplace.sap.com/socoview(bD1lbiZjPTAwMSZkPW1pbg==)/render.asp?packageid=DE0426DD9B0249F19515001A64D3F462&id=…
The service works and I can do all movement types I want.
Now I want to have idempotency activated at the ECC system.
But nobody of the ECC guys knows, what has to be done for this.
What transaction has to be used?
Is there a default value for the time frame for which the system keeps responses for already processed service calls?
If not, I would propose 100 days, because this is the worst case, the nonSAP application could send a message again.
Are 100 days to large for the idempotency time frame of an ECC system?
    Regards
    Roland

Now I have got readonly permission for transaction SPRO at the ECC system.
The path to the idempotency settings is:
SPRO -> SAP Reference IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications -> Enterprise Services -> General Settings for Enterprise Services -> Define Settings for Idempotent Services
Permission for transaction WSIDPADMIN is required to execute the activity "Define Settings for Idempotent Services". I don't have this.
But there is a good explanation in SPRO what has to be done in "Define Settings for Idempotent Services"
    Define Settings for Idempotent Services
    Use
Enterprise Services for which you need to ensure that every service call is executed precisely once are called idempotent services.
You use this IMG activity to define how long the system keeps stored response messages or details about query messages (the message IDs) for which responses have already been sent for synchronous Enterprise Services. You have to define this for each client in which you wish to use synchronous Enterprise Services.
In order not to burden the database by storing the response messages or message IDs unnecessarily long, the system schedules two background jobs to regularly delete stored response messages and message IDs:
    SAP_BC_IDP_WS_SWITCH_BD for response messages
    SAP_BC_IDP_WS_SWITCH_BDID for message IDs
The system uses table pairs to ensure that the response message or the ID of the answered query message is deleted as soon as possible once the set retention period has expired:
One table pair for each client for the response messages
One table pair for each client for the message IDs that have been stored
The two tables of a table pair are entered alternately. When switching from the first table to the second, the data in the first table is retained and that in the second table is deleted before the system generates new entries.
You decide how ofter the system switches back and forth between the tables of a table pair. The result is the minimum retention period for the stored data.
    Requirements
This function is available to you as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP09 and ECC SE 600 SP03.
    Activities
In the Document section, define the minimum retention period for the response messages. You do this by specifying how often you want the system to switch between the two tables.
In the Document ID section define the minimum retention period for the message IDs. You do this by specifying how often you want the system to switch between the two tables.
SAP recommends you define a longer retention period for the message IDs than for the response messages. Bear in mind that a repeated query message leads to an error if the corresponding response message has already been deleted but the message ID is still available.
To save what you have defined, choose Schedule.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 for all clients in which you wish to use Enterprise Services.
    Example
You have defined the time for switching between the two tables in which the response messages are stored as two hours. This means that the response messages are kept for at least two hours but for no more than four hours.
You have defined the time for switching between the two tables in which the message IDs are stored as one day. This means that the message IDs are kept for at least one day but for no more than two days.

  • Terminal Services licensing firewall ports

I have been searching the internet for an informative network\firewall drawing for the Terminal Services Licensing traffic when it comes to firewall ports requirements etc
Does someone have a detailed description or a (visio) drawing showing the ports required for WTS Licensing?
We have the following Citrix based Terminal Server environment:
    - Windows 2008 R2 running XenApp6
    - Clients come from internal (LAN) and external connections (Citrix Access Gateway)
    - There is a firewall between the Citrix XenApp WTS farm and the MS Terminal Services Licensing server (Win 2008 R2)
Can someone explain how the TSCAL\RDCAL "traffic" flows and the ports required from A-Z ?
    /Tord Bergset

I believe the correct random ports used for for Windows Server 2008 are 49152-65535, not 1024-65535
I am looking for a visio or something showing this...
For Citrix solutions one have no problem finding network drawing showing firewall ports etc, but fro MS WTS licensing I jsut cannot find anything showing ports required etc
Lot of designd docs\drawings regarding RDP traffic etc, but not anything for the RDCAL\TSCAL licensing traffic
    Scenario below:
Need all WTS Licensing ports listed for the solution to work for external and internal clients
External clients   using 2 factor auth

    Citrix Web Interface

  • "Date Modified" for all files being changed if "Automatically write to XMP" is on

Recently upgraded from LR3 (v3.4.1) from LR2 on OSX 10.6.8 and have always had Catalog Settings > Automatically write changes into XMP turned on.
When browsing existing JPG files in my Library (no Develop changes, no keywording, no Presets, no Import), LR3 is writing to disk — i.e., when I look at files in Finder, almost every viewed file’s “Date Modified” is being set to today’s date and time. (It actually creates a .swp file, then changes it's name back to .jpg)
This is really bad, as it's making it impossible for me to use Finder to figure out when I last worked with a file, it is triggering needless Time Machine and Backblaze backups, and unnecessarily churning my disk.
If I turn off "Automatically write..." this behavior stops. Per David Marx at thelightroomlab.com, I tried turning off this preference, manually doing a "Save Metadata to File" for all files, letting that complete, then turning the preference back on. This does not solve the problem.
Per a suggestion at photoshop.com, I used ExifTool to see what changes LR was writing to a sample file; from the diff below, you can see that LR is adding a bunch of new fields as well as moving other fields around. But my point is that LR3 should never overwrite a file on disk if all I am doing is browsing thru them.
Is anyone else seeing this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Then when LR3 loaded my old LR2 images into memory, it "dirtied" the in-memory copy of the file by adding in these new LR3 XMP fields. Then, because I had "Automatically write XMP" on, it said "I better write these changes to disk".
Yuck. As a former software engineer, this is very bad software engineering.
It should wait until the user dirties the file (via Develop, keywords, etc.) before presuming to add a bunch of metadata fields that are unique to the new version of LR3.
Well, I'm a current software developer, and this is, really, a perfectly reasonable thing to do. It is a reasonable trade-off for a convenient feature required by a small subset of users.
Yes, in most cases the in-memory copy should "never" be dirtied unless the user makes a gesture of some sort, but like I said earlier, this option (once set by the user) sets up the situation where this gesture becomes implicit. This is a clear trade-off for the sake of convenience. And if the XMP is out of date and needs to be updated en masse, so be it.
The fact is, there is no easy way around this. Do we save up /every/ dirty buffer somehow until you make a gesture that /might/ require the XMP to be up-to-date before acting on that gesture? Now we have to worry about unflushed buffers if something goes wrong and the app exits. Do we save the buffers to the DB? Now we have to block some calls to make another blocking call to flush some or all of those to DB, and then write some or all of it out to one or more files. In what order? What if there is a gesture to have X files with up-to-date XMP and some or all of those are in unflushed buffers, unflushed DB writes or we have to wait for the DB.
As you can see, this is a transactionality nightmare, and the easiest and safest thing to get what the user wants (i.e., up-to-date XMP for the purpose of talking to a third-party XMP aware app) is to simply update the sidecar or XMP block in an atomic manner using the correct file IO. The file will have to change at some point, so it may as well be now.
[Thanks to both of you for your detailed replies. I am aware of the need for tradeoffs so when you say the approach taken is quite reasonable, I do believe you. I also apologize in advance for the length of the following and am extremely aware of the time it must have taken you to compose the above replies, but I'm going to add a bit more, if only for my own piece of mind and in hopes of coming up with a solution for my workflow.]
From my naive point of view, I was expecting the answer to be simply "don't raise the XMPDirtyFlag upon reading in a file". Obviously if your architecture requires you to "upgrade to latest XMP format" upon read, and another part of the system auto-detects "out of date XMP", then it's going to write those changes to disk.
But it didn't need to be designed that way. LR obviously has mechanisms to know when a user has made a change to XMP so it is able to write XMP changes to disk only when necessary.
The promise (to me) of "Automatically Write XMP changes to disk" was to auto-save my changes, and not those made for any internal (i.e., XMP versioning related) changes.
Perhaps the premise is that it is LR3's job to update an individual file's XMP to the latest version so that other XMP-aware apps can make use of it? I would argue that those third-party XMP-aware apps already have to know how to deal with all prior versions of XMP, so LR3 should just leave well enough alone.
You asked if my problem with your approach was that it was "inelegant"; not at all, it is based on my own perception of what I need from my workflow, so let me describe that so maybe we can find a better way:
    * Part of the appeal of LR to me is that it preserves my original file as it came off the memory card, allowing me to move to a different workflow/toolset in 2025 if I choose to do so
    * However, with all of changes contained in a single database file, I'm concerned about rare (but possible) corruption, so to mitigate this risk, I let LR backup my database weekly and it's also backed up continuously in the cloud via Backblaze
    * Even with backups of the database, there is still a chance that I could lose changes made to individual files (e.g., LR corrupts the DB and I have to go back to last week's DB)
    * Thus the appeal of the "auto-write to XMP" flag -- that way critical changes (develop, crop, keywords) are saved on a per-file basis; I liked the "automatic" part of this (as opposed to a manual save) because then I don't have to teach others in my family how to manually save XMP changes
    * A nice side-effect of this setting is now when I use Finder to find a file and double-click on it to edit it in Photoshop, all my develop changes are right there; (in other words, I like the flexibility of not having to fire up LR in order to just invoke PS from within it); also when I use Bridge I see all the keywords there
    * So with LR2, I had gotten used to what I thought was the best of all worlds -- autosave of changes at the file level via XMP + raw negatives untouched (i.e., Date Modified == the date I took the picture); this allows me to use operating-system-level tools -- Finder -- to locate/search for files
    * Now I upgrade to LR3 and I'm finally now understanding that a concept "XMP versioning" is going to result in changes to many, but not all my files. (That's something else that's annoying about this issue -- I open up the Grid and browse a folder of files, and only seemingly random ones I've cursored over seem to get written to disk -- if it's so urgent that LR3 update the XMP, then it should do it for all the files in the catalog or at least in that directory)
Here's a screenshot from Finder of what I see everytime I look at this folder:
    * So now I have to assume that each new version of XMP and/or LR is going to touch my files on disk. Sigh.
    * What I don't like about this is that it is ruining the promise of "untouched raw negative". Yes, the image data is untouched -- which I agree is most of the benefit; but the file has been touched.
    * Perhaps you might empathize a bit more if you imagined that someone went thru all your source code or Word files and randomly changed the date to "today" because you upgraded compilers or moved to Word 2011.
I agree all of this would be solved by having an XMP sidecar file for JPGs, but you indicate that's not going to happen.
You've also alluded to the solution of "resetting the Date Modifed" to it's original value -- which I believe is what Finder does when you move or copy a file -- but that that is fraught with issues as well. I believe you when you say there are issues, but again the naive part of me wonders why that soultion would be so bad...
I just thought of another potential solution -- turning on Date Created in Finder -- but it turns out that's changed, too.
I am really at a loss as to what to do and would welcome your suggestions.
    Thanks again and kind regards,
