    Welcome to the forum.
As long it is for personal use only, you can basically download whatever it is you need.

  • SharePoint 2013 workflow for page publishing

    Hi Folks,
I need to implement a page publishing workflow.I am going in brief to explain scenario.
When a page is getting created by a user from a specific group it needed to be approved by four different group of people in a sequential approach.
After getting approval from all group only last user group member should be authorized to publish the page.
There could be a scenario where once page is created it will require to be directly published without any approval
Kindly suggest me which approach i should follow ?
Either of SharePoint designer workflow or Visual Studio Workflow ?
Appreciate if can provide some tutorial kind link or suggestion.
    Keshav Roy

There's not really too many examples out there to share for SharePoint 2013 workflows. Personally I believe SharePoint Designer workflow is an quick and easy of developing workflows but it has limitations - like it's tightly integrated with the SharePoint
site/list. However if you have an existing Visual Studio project then I don't see any reason to use SharePoint Designer (SPD) workflow. Visual Studio workflow is more like developer tools and you can do more with VS than SPD. So if you have developer
skills (or someone in your team), have already a VS project and need more customisation (as per your requirements, you have complex one), I would prefer to go for Visual Studio workflow.

  • Reporting services in three tier SharePoint 2013 environment

    Hi,
I am trying to integrate SQL Server 2012SP1 Reporting Services in a three tier SharePoint 2013 environment, but it seems it is not succesful.
    The setup is as following:
SRV1: SQL Server with content, config,... and the Reporting Service databases.
SRV2: SharePoint 2013 Application server & Central Administration
SRV3: SharePoint Web Front with SharePoint sites
All application pools are started with domain accounts on SRV2 & 3
When opening the Central Administration site, the Reporting Services Service Application and its Proxy is created and configured. On SRV2 the Application exists in the application pool in IIS, but it does not appear in the SRV3. Should it be created manualluy?
In Central Administration, when opening the site settings the Reporting Services section is created, but when opening the Site Settings for the root site the section shows variables:
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,ReportServerSiteSettingsGroupTitle;
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,ScheduleList;
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,SiteLevelSettings;
    $Resources:ReportServerResources,ManageSiteDataAlerts;
I believe i need some help here.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    J

    Hi J-S,
Generally, the issue occurs if you are in the Windows Powershell instead of the SharePoint Management Shell or the Reporting Services - SharePoint mode feature is not installed. So, please double check you are using the SharePoint Management Shell or install
the Add-in by installing the rssharepoint.msi instead. Here is the download link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35583
If it is not the issue, please install the Reporting Services - SharePoint mode from the SQL Server 2012 installation media.

  • SharePoint 2013 - Asking for password with NTLM

    Hi All,
We have deployed a web application using NTLM with single sign on. It’s a secure site and in IIS bindings we have SSL certificate attached with this web application. However, many users are keep getting windows authentication prompt as shown:
There are lot of blog posts that solve the issue by adjust IE settings >> Security >>
Sites >> Advanced >> and added the site URL and
    Security
    >>   Local Intranet >> Custom Level >> At bottom choose “Automatic logon with current username and password”
    http://blog.fpweb.net/sharepoint-credentials-prompt-quick-tip/#.VPBz3vmUdUW http://www.sharepointdiary.com/2012/04/sharepoint-keeps-asking-for-password.html
    https://sysadminspot.com/windows/google-chrome-and-ntlm-auto-logon-using-windows-authentication/ (IE, Chrome, Firefox)
    http://social.education.purdue.edu/edit/2011/03/sharepoint-pw-prompts/
I have tested the blogs posts and change the settings in our development environment
and no windows authentication was shown with my username on the SharePoint 2013 environment. But, all related to change IE settings. In our organization, we have around
2000 users. It be impractical to set for users for these IE settings and network team regularly pushes group polices.
Q: Is some configuration has to be set on IIS or
some settings on SharePoint that users don’t get windows authentication? I have tried most of options but could not resolve this issue.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Aroh Shukla

Sites go into the Intranet Zone, not the Trusted Zone. Only Intranet is configured, by default, to automatically pass credentials to SharePoint.
Yes, there are scenarios where this may not work, e.g. if you've configured the Web Application with Kerberos but didn't configure the SPN. Or if you're using Kerberos Constrained Delegation with Domain Controllers older than Server 2012 and your users are
    in a different forest, etc.

  • How to migrate a SharePoint 2010 workflow to an SharePoint 2013 environment

    Dear guys,
I have a SharePoint 2010 environment with a workflow. Now I would like to migrate this workflow in the SharePoint 2013 environment? How could this be done?
I tried it via Visio, but it is not working...
    Best regards
    Matthias

All SharePoint designer 2010 based workflows will be upgraded AS IS and can be enhanced using SPD 2013 but enhancement can be done in SP2010 mode  only (using SP2010 features), no new SP2013 features can be used in SPD 2010 workflows. Microsoft has provided
a workaround to trigger SP2010 workflows with-in SPD2013 workflows using workflow interop for SharePoint 2013.

  • Which laptop is good for gaming

i wanna get the alien ware labtop wich is 3d would that work are is there better labtops ?

If you want to do any serious gaming, get a desktop PC. Preferrably build your own (saves a lot of money).
Alienware laptops are over-priced and over-hyped. For that much money, you could build a beast gaming rig.

  • SharePoint 2013 Workflow for MDS 2012 - Sample Code

Hi All, I want to integrate MDS 2012 with SharePoint 2013 workflow. I have read the whitepaper on this integration but I am looking for code samples on SharePoint 2013 workflow which can be used for this as I am not much into SharePoint development. If
not the source code, any good blog links to achieve this integration?
    Thanks, Ashish Singh

If you want to avoid the SharePoint development, then use a custom IWorkflowTypeExtender and interact with SharePoint using the Lists OData service.  That way your code runs on the MDS server, and you don't have to deploy custom code to SharePoint.
You would simply add an item to an existing or purpose-built SharePoint list, and that could kick off a standard list workflow (which can be built without custom code).
Otherwise you need to create a custom SharePoint Site Workflow in Visual Studio, and deploy it to SharePoint (yuck). Per:

  • Accessing Sharepoint 2013 externally for domain users and customers

Just an FYI I am not a SP administrator by any means but have be tasked with taking over this project and could use some assistance.
Sharepoint 2013 is working fine internally. Users access the site and login with their domain credentials. Our client is moving one of their departments to another building down the street and we'd like them to be able to access local resources without the
use of another server or site to site vpn or standard vpn.
My question is, how do we make Sharepoint accessible outside of their local network?
If we open up a port on the router and have it forward all request to Sharepoint server will we be able to access it?
Also, how will they authenticating with the Sharepoint Server? Do they use the same user credentials?
I forgot to mention this is Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise Edition. We are also using Project Server 2013 as well.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi 3s1k,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to access the SharePoint site from Internet.
You need to first ensure that you enable Anonymous Access for your web application. You'll then need to set up DNS for the domain you own to point to your web front end server (or virtual IP if it's load balanced). Then set up the appropraite IIS bindings
for the web application, and finally you'll need to extend your web application to an Internet Zone and give it the appropriate domain name.

  • Sharepoint 2013 onedrive for business Ipad App

    Hi
We have an on-premise sharepoint 2013 installation and we would like to achieve access to the private library/onedrive using some of our ipads.  We have installed One drive for business connected to a VPN.  We have put in the url of the
site, which is our intranet page, enter my domain credentials click sign in and get the message.  There is a problem with your account.  Please try again later
While connected to the VPN if I use the browser to the page it works and I can navigate to other parts of the intranet.
    Am I missing something simple?
What should the internal address be like when trying to access onedrive?
    Regards
    Chris

The ODfB app for iOS will only work while on the WLAN. It doesn't work across any other connection, at least per https://support.office.com/en-US/Article/Use-the-OneDrive-for-Business-app-on-an-iPhone-or-iPad-a1dbdcda-19df-4c06-b908-29c10865d20d?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US#BKMK_SupportedAuthentication.
If you’re an Office 365 multitenant user, you can
connect from the OneDrive for Business app in any network environment, including Wi-Fi and cellular data. If you’re not using multitenant Office 365, you can connect only when you use your organization’s on-site Wi-Fi network.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Problem - User Personal site never created. Clicking Skydrive/Newsfeed/or Follow

New 2013 setup.  I created 1 test site.   I'm able to load the site, but If the user clicks on 'Follow', 'Skydrive', or 'Newsfeeds', the user is taken to the personal page that reads:
    We're almost ready!
While we set things up, feel free to changeyour
    photo, adjustyour
    personal settings, and fill
    ininformation about yourself.
It could take us a while, but once we're done, here's what you'll get:
Newsfeedis your social hub where you'll see updates from the people, documents, sites, and tags you're following, with quick access to the apps you've added.
SkyDrive Prois your personal hard drive in the cloud, the place you can store, share, and sync your work files.

Any thoughts on this?   troubleshooting tips?

In my case, here is what happened and how I fixed it.
    Situation:
Mysite is a new web application. We have two one-way trusts in place since the domain of the farm is different than the two other domains where users reside. So I ran the
    STSADM.exe -o setproperty -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests -pv "Forest1,Domain1\account,password;
    Forest2,Domain2\account,password"
    -url https://mysitesURL
This allowed the user policy of the new Mysites web application to search through the two domains where AD users reside. Once I added them I was good, no more errors.
One thing to note, I have two web apps using the same wildcard cert and running off port 443 SSL.
I wanted to make the user picture come from AD so I changed that user property (Picture) in User Profile Service options, and this seems to have broken initial MySite creation, but once the user adds a picture
to their profile settings, the site starts working. I need to remove the property I added for "Picture" in user profile properties.
This is the process I took that caused my problem:

  • Sharepoint 2013 - Search for link names on a single page

    Hi
I am messing around with SP13 and trying to get my search result web part to only search for link names and display all results.
I have created the search source to point at the sub site. If I search for part of a link name it will list all links in one long row as a single result.
Example: One single page contains all links. Each link points to a .aspx page. The search source is pointing at this page and it can display results but only as a single result containing all links as one line of text.
Say I have 1000+ links of which 50 has names such as Link1-Item1-Basket1, Link1-Item1-Basket2 up to Link1-Item1-Basket50.
When I search for Link1-Item1 I would like my search results to display 50 results as 50 individual links.
    Is this possible?

    Hi,
Yes, you can format the search results as you expected.  But you have to create a custom display template to format your results such as extract the links from each results and display it as separate link.
Once display template created you have to map the display template to your search results web part.
Please refer to the following articles.

    Part (CSWP) Part-1

  • SharePoint 2013 permissions for each user

I am working on my own SharePoint 2013 test site and I need to grant permission to the test accounts. I want to make certain the 3 test accounts can not see the lists, files, and workflows that the other users created.
Do I need to grant permission at the site level, user level, custom list level, for each workflow, and/or for each custom form? Do I invite each user and/or 'share' with each user? Can you tell me and/or point me to a source that will tell me what level
of permission I need and how to grant this type of permission?

    Wendy,
In sharepoint, you can grant permission at any level you want. That permission will carry forward by default until someone break them and configure unique permission.
In ideal case, we recommend to use share security group to grant permission and not grant to individual user. Also try to restrict 2 default site group (Owner/member/viewer) as much possible, but in reality ppl break these rule often and eventually end up
    with maintenance overhead.
I will recommenced you and everyone to go through this nice ppt which clears sharepoint permission idea in our mind.

  • Retrieve data from a list in SharePoint 2013 provider hosted App using CSOM

I have developed a provider hosted app in SharePoint 2013. As you already know, Visual Studio creates web application and SharePoint app. The web application gets hosted inside IIS and the SharePoint App in SharePoint site collection. I'm trying to get
data from a list hosted in SharePoint using CSOM. But I get ran insecure content error.
here is my code in Default.aspx

    Any solution is appreciated.
