Which pieces of the repository?

The WebLogic install identifies the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) as a required additional download. And the RCU wants to create and populate a large number of database schemas.
Our DBA's are understandably skeptical. So I'm trying to find out which of those schemas are actually required for the way we plan to use the application server. Haven't managed to find the right piece of documentation yet.
Our initial use will be migrating from an existing 9.0.4 OAS server on which we're running Forms, Reports, Web PL/SQL DAD's, and Discoverer. Nothing fancy, no SOA, and our Java apps are on another app server that we're not including in this phase.
Which database schemas are required or recommended to support those products?

Jim,
Unfortunately most readers of this forum are not familiar with those other products. WebLogic Server by itself does not need any database tables as a minimum requirement. As WebLogic Server users, we simply see them as yet another application using WebLogic Server. From what I understand, the RCU is typically used by other "upper stack" components like SOA Suite and WebCenter.
You'll probably be best off by posting in the forums of the other products as to whether or not they require RCU to be run.

specification does not match any archived log in the repositoryI don't see the error here, it's only a msg that mean : There is no files on XXX destination, which is normal when no files found.

How to change the 'Default operating mode' of a mapping on the repository and not from the client

Hi everybody,
I am using OWB 11.2.0.3 and under the mapping's configuration property, I have the necessity to change the Run time parameter "Default operating mode" to SET_BASED in almost all my mappings.
Because I have 745 mappings in which the Default operating mode is different from SET_BASED, instead to open 745 times the 'Configure' and update manually the value, is there a way to update safely these values (with an oracle predefined script) directly on the repository ?
I know that exists a view called CMPSTRINGPROPERTYVALUE_V based on a table called CMPSCOPrpClasses, but changing this table it's very complicated for me because contains only keys and then I don't know in which way is connected with all the other structures....
If somebody knows a method more efficient to do these updates on the repository and not from OWB client I will appreciated it!

I can connect to Siebel Server manager using command as : srvrmgr /g 192.168.0.163 /e Sieb81 /u SADMIN /p SADMIN
ODBC connectivity is also ok and i can connect as : ./odbcsql /source Sieb81_DSN /u SADMIN /p SADMIN
While installing Siebel i had left one step i .e.. creation of siebenv.sh using CreateSiebSrvrEnvScript because i got error when executed this script as :

Error : cp: cannot copy a directory, '/u01/siebel/ses/siebsrvr/locale/' , into itself , '/u01/siebel/ses/siebersrvr/locale/C/locale'
Please suggest me what to do because if i want to configure again the same issue with CreateSiebSrvrEnvScript.

You can see all application objects are online and running. One more thing I have also checked ODBC is also working fine. I mean , user SADMIN can connect using ODBC.

BO 4.1 SP4 IDT - Not able to publish the Business layer onto the repository

Hi All,
We are facing issues while publishing the Universe onto the repository. Just to give a background of the issue, we are connecting to Oracle 9i database from BO 4.1 SP4 Information Design Tool. We have client tools installed on one VM server and BO enterprise server on the other VM . I have installed Oracle 11g client 32 bit on the client tools server and 64 bit on BO Enterprise server. I can create a session to the BO server from the IDT tool successfully I have even created a secured connection published on SAP BO server which means there are no port issues.
I create the data foundation and business layer on IDT. I have created a test one with only two simple tables and do an integrity check and it works fine. When I publish the Universe, after I click the Finish button, it just freezes and doesnt get anything back for a long time. After that period, the finish button gets enabled again and if I check on the server, Universe is not published.
Based on the KB 1586166 - How to enable tracing for BI4.x client applications I created two BO_Trace.ini file in the following directories:

D:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\conf
I was getting the trace files earlier as well but I just changed to see if something happens. I I have a hs_error_pid4198 file created on monday, but it seems to be a java environment error file. I am not sure if its related. The trace I see on the InformationDesignTool_ncs file is

I am not seeing this error after I created the tracelog file .ini based on the KB mentioned. I have a trace file generated in the workspace folder but its 12MB size which I wont be able to post it here.
Any suggestions to resolve this error would be of great help.

Follow the below steps: Publish the Universe to the Repository.
Select the business layer under project -> Right Click the Business Layer and select, publish repository from the menu. -> and next --> Choose the Repository Folder to store the Universe --> Publish Universe After clicking the “Finish” button
Note : Ensure the Connection for the corresponding Data Foundation is a Secure Connection.

Getting problem in import the repository metadata into to OWB ( Sun solris)

Actually as discussed before in this forum I am trying to import all metadata of repository ( exported as mdl file from window environment) into unix(sun solaris environment). After completion like 100% its giving a error.

I have installed following softwares
1. Install Linux OS 64-bit
2. Install the Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.1.0) 32-bit or 64-bit Database.
3. Install WebLogic 11gR1PS3 (10.3.4.0) 64-bit.

but I didn't saw rcu.sh but I saw RCU_HOME/BIN/rcu.bat file, which is support windows environment.
I am looking RCU for linux OS 64-bit.

Problem in getting the function template object from the repository.

Hi all,
I have created a par file. I have a JCO connection in that. I am facing problems in getting the function template object from the repository. This thing is running successfully when i try to deploy it in Tomcat. But i am facing problems when i try to deploy it in SAP EP 6.0.
Below is statement which is giving error after being deployed to SAP EP6.
This is executing fine when executed in Tomcat Server.

This sounds like a bug in the smart upload code. I have used this stuff before, but it's probably an older version, so maybe they broke something. Enumerations aren't usually guaranteed to keep things in any particular order. I would say for now, make a method to take the enumeration and a param name to find the value. And write to the JSPSmart people.

Anyone Seen this Message Before "Configuration changes for domain saved to the repository."

I'm running into this situation where one of my WLS servers is generating the following
messages "Configuration changes for domain saved to the repository." This process
of saving to a repository is causing an issue on start-up. Typically my deployments
take 2-3 minutes on start-up. They are now taking 10 minutes. I've made no changes
to my application. I've been able to identify that this process of saving to a
repository is the main issue of contention....
Anyone know what the message means? Anyone know how to disable this message?

This is just WebLogic writing back changes to config.xml, which it does from time
to time for reasons like:
- your app deployment has changed.
- you've reconfigured something in the console.
etc...
WebLogic just spins this off into a handy execute thread, so it would be surprising
if this was causing your app deployment to slow down (how do you know it is).
In my experience, slower than normal app deployments are usually down to:
- waiting for database connections.
- waiting for connecitons to other external resources.
Remember (in WLS6.x anyway) initialisation is done serially on the main thread,
so if something's slow, everything gets blocked behind it.

Data Services 12.2.2.0 cannot open connection to the repository NEW Install

I can connect to the repository DB using Toad and SQL Management Studio, but I cannot connect with DS. I've tried 12.2.0.0 and most recently 12.2.2.0 - nothing is working, any helpful advice is appreciated.

Trouble with a csv datasource in the repository

I'm running 10.1.3.4 on Red Hat Linux. I placed a test .csv file on the BI Server, and am trying to get to the data using the BI Administrator tool. When I imported the .csv file into the repository, it appeared to work. In the physical layer, I see a table which corresponds to the name of my csv file and 4 columns which correspond to the 4 columns in my .csv file.
My problem is I can't see the data. If I right click the table and go to "view data" I get the following error:
[NQODBC] [SQL_STATE:HY000] [nQS Error: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 43093] An error occurred while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
[nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down.
I also dragged the table to the model and mapping layer and presentation layer. When I try to build a request off the subject area, I see the table, but it says the "folder is empty" when I click on it.
Is there something I need to configure on the linux server to tell it how to handle a .csv file? This is my first attempt at importing anything into the repository other than Oracle tables using OCI.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Stijn - thanks again for your assistance. I did follow the instructions of that blog, but I'm still having the same problem. Does the excel file have to be in a very specific location on the BI server? Do I have to configure anything on the server to tell BI how to access an excel or csv file?

Session Variable : How to find out where all it is used in the repository?

Hello Everyone,
We have a requirement where we need to convert a few session variables into repository variables. For this we need to figure out where all is that session variable used in the repository and webcat (which all logical columns use it, which all prompts use it etc). We tried the query repository utility but that didnt help. Is there any other way to find that out? Will really appreciate any pointers from your side.

To find the variables used in,
Rpd : Open the rpd->Navigate to Tools Menu->Select "Utilities"->"Repository Documentation".This will generate a csv file with the associations
Webcat :Open the webcat using catalog Manager->Tools Menu->Create Report-.Select the desired columns (Include Xml column)->Open the rpeort in excel find "Variable"->from this you can find the various variables used in the catalog.

How to see the tables which are in the physical layer of SampleAppLite rpd

I am new to OBIEE and I installed OBI Apps with Oracle 11g in my laptop. I tried to create reports using the OracleBIAnalyticsApps rpd. How can I know from which schema the tables are coming in the physical layer of the repository so that I can create a connection pool to the database. I got the default SampleAppLite rpd when I install the OBIEE but I am unable to see those tables in the database schema which are used in the SampleAppLite physical layer. Can anyone tell me how can I see the tables in the database which I see in the rpd. Actually my question may be wrong as I am new to this field, so please let me know if this is a wrong question. As I unable to express my question correctly. Thanks.

For the OracleBIAnalyticsApps rpd - the tables are under "Catalog" then "dbo" in database "Oracle Data Warehouse" in the physical layer. The RPD comes out of the box with the required connection pools - you dont need to create any. The connection pools "Oracle Data Warehouse Repository Initblocks Connection Pool" and "Oracle Data Warehouse Connection Pool" in "Oracle Data Warehouse" read the data from the business analytics warehouse that you created in a schema name of your choosing with the DAC. All you need to do is edit the user name and password and the data source name with a connect string - which is the local net service name to your database for default call interface OCI 10g/11g assuming you used an Oracle database for your warehouse. One way to test the connection pool is to right click any table/alias then "Update Row Count".
BTW Using the Admin Tool open the OracleBIAnalyticsApps rpd then do "Tools" then "Utilities" then "Repository Documentation" then "Execute". This will create a spreadsheet showing you all the mappings from the presentation to business to physical layers.

How to get Resource Name in the Repository Service when Publish evt trigger

In the second line of code I was getting the NPE
after that I used to if condition to debug it

which is the event triggered for approval or how to capture the Approval Event when a content is approved by the Approver

Rules: How can I specify the repository file?

Hello,
I am trying to define the repository file but, as I am using a internet explorer which is not in the same machine as the product, I cannot see the browse to select the file location.
The product is in HP machine. Do I have to write some special character such as "file://<path_file>" or "machine:<path_file>"
I am trying with <path_file> and it doesn't work.

I will try resetting the SMC and PRAM whatever this might mean and also
I will try to add more memory as mine is only 4GB and an SSD drive.
The funny thing is that my son advised me exactly the same thing a week ago
