WHTWHT

I would like to propose an new acronym. WHTWHT is short for "We Help Those Who Help Themselves". I feel this modification of Ben franklin's adage that "God helps those who help themselves" describes not only my attitude to questions about elementary language issues and homework, but the attitude of many other regulars here.
I summarize the attributes I feel are needed to achieve this:
- a meaningful topic
- a realistic user name, eg. jqAdams instead of javaDemiGod
- an answerable question, like "why am I getting a NullPointerException on line 5" instead of "please help me"
- an indication of whether the project is homework
- a SSCCE
- use of code tags
- no attitude of entitlement
I'm sure others can contribute more requirements but that seems to be a minimum.

- a realistic user name, eg. jqAdams instead of javaDemiGodThat may be asking for too much. Taks a few glances at the Users Online list, its only the regulars who (mostly) have meaningful nics. Also, given the international nature of the forums, somewhat difficult to judge... a name in one culture could be a swear word in another. Hell, within India we see that! and people who transfer to another part of the country suddenly find themselve open to teasing and taunting.
IMHO this is anyhow of less importance than the other points and could perhaps be dropped from your list.
Cheers, Darryl
