Why can't I view the XML-type in my queries

I have SQL Developer configured to connect to an Oracle 11g database, using the "thick net". I recently upgraded to version 2.1.1.64.
I have an issue displaying XML-type results. If I execute a query that returns XML-types, I get the following error: oracle.sql.OPAQUE@e8bd13. Is there a patch, update or tweak I can do to get around this and display the actual results?
Thanks.

Can you see the sample schemas and the XMLTYPE in the OE Warehouses table, or does this also issue the same error.? You should be able to see the XML content using SQL Developer 2.1.
Please note there is also an early adopter for 3.0.

  • Why can't I view the source code?

    I found a website that I would like to use as an example for my next site (except for the fonts), but when I right click the 'view source' button, nothing comes up.  I also tried it from the toolbar and nothing again.  Just curious  as to why I can't see the code.  Would that site be difficult to create?  (I wouldn't think so).

    (ps - please don't bash the site if you don't like it - Nathan passed away yesterday)

    I see the code OK in Win/IE8
    Right click > View Source and View > Source in the IE toolbar works fine.

  • Why can't I view the 10/20/10 keynote on my new apple tv?

    I can't view the latest Apple keynote on my Appletv. It tells me to try again later.
    Off topic: it won't play on my iphone4 either.

    Thanks Chenks. I does boggle my mind that they offer the new device for viewing podcasts then make the first Apple Keynote podcast unable to be streamed to it. Is it me?

  • HT3523 Why can't I view the latest iPhone 5 video in the apple website?

    I have Quicktime on my Lion OS 10.7.5 and it still won't play the video.

    Profile? Going backwards? What are you on about.?
    I don't mean to be rude, but so far nothing you have said has been of any help let alone made much sense.
    All I want to be able to do is view my emails. The latest versions of thunderbird let me see that I had an email from someone but when I try to view it, it is completely blank, or has a lot of alphanumeric representations of what was there.
    Now what I would appreciate is someone who can explain things in layman speak, preferably who works for Mozilla, who may have a handle on what I need to change in the new version of Mozilla, so that I can view them, or else at least let me know the reasons as to why this might not be possible. - which would surprise me. At this stage I'm assuming that it is something that I am doing or not doing that is the problem.
    Failing that, I will keep using the old version, as it seems to function perfectly well.
    Thanks

  • Why can I only view the DCIM folder?

    Im trying to back up my music from my ipod to my windows 7 but when i go to the folders in the ipod i only see the DCIM folder and I noticed it's categorized as a digital camera... Is there anyway i can change this so i can move my songs back onto my computer?

    Did you install iTunes? iTunes is the only way to back things up and sync content, unless your device is jailbroken. But that's a different story.
    The reason why you only see the DCIM folder is mainly for security. You don't want a virus on your computer to mess around with the system files in your shiny iDevice, don't you? What you see instead is just a list of photos that you have saved from the internet or taken with the camera.

    any thoughts?

    Thank you so much!  It is so simple but when you don't know the answer it seems so compex!
    I will be a much safer person on the road now thanks to you!

  • Why can't i view on iCloud what is on my lost iPhones? i can see how much GB's they are taking up but can't click on the data to see what it is..

         Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
    When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
    LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
    LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
    LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
    but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??
                            THANK YOU!

    If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
    Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
    And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
    Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Why can't we view Java on the iphone?

    Why can't we view java. I understand that Steve Jobs said in 2010 that it was a dying technology however lots and lots of sites still use it and I am tired of needing my laptop every time I want to use one of those sites. This includes large companies such as BBC, Lottery etc. can I download another browser and it will work, eg if I don't use Safari?

    Why can't we view java.
    Because the iPhone does not have support for Java.
    lots and lots of sites still use it
    Really? I haven't come across one in years. I don't even have it installed on my computers.
    This includes large companies such as BBC, Lottery etc.
    I use both of those sites, and have never come across the need for Java. Are you sure you are talking about Java?
    Provide some links to pages you are unable to view.
    can I download another browser and it will work, eg if I don't use Safari?
    You can download another browser if you want. You'll have to read the AppStore descriptions for browsers that claim to support Java and then try them out.

    Hello Andra,
    It sounds like you are not able to access the iTunes and App Stores on your iPod touch.  I found an article with steps you can take to address issues like this.  The steps in this article address both the iTunes and App Stores:
    Can't connect to the iTunes Store

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why can't Adobe add the feature of viewing focus points? This is an obvious,  common sense feature that Adobe Engineers must understrand how to do, No?

    Why can't Adobe add the feature of viewing focus points? This is an obvious,  common sense feature that Adobe Engineers must understrand how to do, No?
    I've seen this requested in several past Lightroom versions.
    Is Adobe not addressing this basic feature for a reason?, I mean, even Aperture has this feature, it can't be that hard to add? Can it?
    Maybe Adobe isn't reading the feature request?

    Honestly, I am hardly qualified to even guess - there are tons of bugs reported that would be easy to fix, but aren't, features that would be useful and easy enough to implement, but aren't. Things like focus points which seem like a no brainer but are never implemented - your guess is as good as mine..
    But to be clear: focus points are different for different cameras, and are stored in proprietary metadata. - not impossible to get at, obviously, but requires some programming/maintenance..
    Worth noting: Apple is shutting down their Aperture business. Yeah, they support focus points and all kinds of good stuff, but I guess Aperture isn't a real money-maker for them (lotsa maintenance work, but not a lot of revenue) - relatively small market.
    Adobe has been working on Revel, and Lightroom Mobile.., instead of focus points (and bug fixes, and...) - my guess: that's where the money is, or where they think it is.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Why can't I CHOOSE the channels I receive?

    My parents pay far less for DISH and get more channels. The only reason I keep AT&T is because I need reliable internet. I'm frustrated with a lot of channels with NOTHING to watch. This is compounded by the fact that I get multiple Spanish language channels (not just local broadcast) and I don't speak Spanish and I get multiple sports channels and I don't watch sports--well I will watch the Olympics. I also don't watch cartoons and there's lots of those available to me. Most of my TV watching is local broadcast or PBS. I'd love to get BBC or WGN without paying extra. I would gladly drop all the Spanish, sports and cartoons to get some intelligent adult TV that's in a language I speak, that doesn't include men bashing each other's skulls and doesn't make me lose IQ points.  Why can't we choose the type of service we want instead of just getting one the choices we can afford from AT&T's cookie cutter products?

    What you are describing is called "a la carte service" and has been debated for years if not decades. The main reason you can't pick and choose channels has to do with how the channels themselves make money.  For the most part, each one cuts a deal with each TV service (e.g. Xfinity, DirecTV, U-Verse, Dish, Time Warner Cable) where the service pays the channel a certain amount for each household capable of viewing it (usually less than 50 cents, but ESPN charges something like $5).  Note two important factors here: (a) it is the TV services that are paying the channels, and not the other way around; (b) it is based on how many people can view a channel, and not how many people actually do. With "packages," a lot of channels that very few people would watch are grouped together with the more popular channels, and the additional cost of carrying these channels is offset somewhat by the fact that the channels do not have to charge as much as they otherwise would because of the number of households that can watch the channel, most of which never will. If you changed this, and made everything a la carte, then most channels - including the popular ones - would have to charge more in order for you to view them.  Want BBC America?  $3/month, thank you very much.  That $5/month for ESPN?  More like $10.  Also remember that the service itself has to add to these costs so it can pay for providing the service (e.g. buying and sending out the cable boxes).

  • Why can't I use the Basic brush tool?

    I'm learning the ropes of drawing in Illustrator and I've fallen at the first hurdle. Why can't I use the Basic brush tool? Whenever I select the brush tool and use the 'Basic' brush type, the cursor turns into a hashed circle indicating I can't draw. If I load other brushes, I can draw with other brush types, but I can't use the Basic one. If I select the Basic brush when I have other brushes loaded and try to draw with it, it always defaults to a different brush! I don't understand why.
    On a related matter, I'm also having trouble changing brush size. I know that using the [ and ] keys changes brush size, but I have no idea what the values are. If I try this in Photoshop, I can see the brush size in the Options bar, but in Illustrator it doesn't appear anywhere! Not in the Brushes palette, the Stroke palette or the Appearance palette. Where can I see the brush size?

    Glitcher,
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Why can't I see the column browser in iTunes 11.4?

    Why can't I see the column browser in iTunes 11.4?
    Just imported a CD of rare folk music that a friend gave me and want to edit the title, album name, etc like I used to.
    In iTunes under "View" the column Browser options are greyed out - not available.
    Seems that this is the view where editing is possible.
    What can I do to bring back column browser?

    Select Songs (not Artists or Albums) at top and you can use the Column browser.
