Why does editing the spry horizontal menu on my template alter the spry tabbed panels on my page?

Most of the pages on my site are created using the same template I developed.  Today, I edited the horizontal main menu on the template, which changed all the pages on my site correctly, except now all the pages with tabbel panels in the body are showing as a bulleted list instead of tabbed panels.  Please Help!?!
In fact, there is no longer any css styles for any tabbed panels any longer...what did I do?

Oh Brother, of course!  I should have waited to post until I was out of
my freak out mode.  Thanks a lot for the help.

    Nothing I have tried in the template makes the BODY tag editable. That's why I'm wondering how to disconnect the template from the individual pages. Adding an ID to each body tag is a prerequisite of the how-to page you supplied.
    You don't make the <body> tag editable in a Template.
    You make attributes of the <body> tag editable.
    Don't disconnect the Template from the child pages.
    Specify editable tag attributes in a template

    In the Template:
    Select the <body> tag (either in the Tag selector or click inside the <body> tag in Code View)
    Modify > Templates > Make Attribute Editable
    Select ID from the Attribute dropdown menu
    If there's no existing ID attribute then click Add and type ID into the next dialogue box
    Attribute: ID
    Check the box to "Make attribute editable"
    Enter anything into the Label field as a default e.g. foo
    OK
    Dreamweaver will change the <body> tag to read <body id="@@(foo)@@"....
    Now the ID is editable
    Save the Template and update the child page
    In each child page:
    Modify > Template Properties
    Select the id attribute from the list (it's probably the only one listed)
    Change its name in the box to whatever name matches your CSS rule for the active state for that page
    OK
    Save

  • Spry horizontal menu perfect on Mac, screwy on PC

    I created a Spry Horizontal menu for http://www.ljwdesign.com/clients/TotalFab.
    The only edit I made to http://www.ljwdesign.com/clients/TotalFab/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css was to add the positioning of the <div> container that holds the menu.  You'll see it as the first thing in the CSS document.  I left the rest of the code exactly the way Dreamweaver created it.
    My main CSS file is http://www.ljwdesign.com/clients/TotalFab/css/mainstyle.css but there is nothing in that file that styles the Spry menu.
    In Firefox and Safari on my Mac, it works EXACTLY as expected - exactly how I want it to work.
    In IE 6, forget it - doesn't work, but I don't care at the moment.
    In IE 7, the drop-downs won't go past the bottom of the table cell the menu is in.  Also, once you mouseover then mouseout of any of the top level menu items (there are three), the text for the other two disappears until you mouseover them again.
    In Chrome and Firefox, the menus drop just fine and the text stays visible, but the longest of the three drop-downs (the gallery) disappears behind the Flash object below the menu.  This does not happen in any Mac browsers.
    I've tried playing with z-index everywhere, but nothing helps.  I even increased the z-indexes in the Spry CSS file to 9999; didn't make a darn bit of difference.
    If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate the heads up.  Until I get this working in all the above-mentioned IE browsers, I don't dare touch the CSS code to make it match the rest of the site stylistically.  Thanks!

  • Spry Horizontal Menu causing site not to load using Firefox and Maverick OSX 10.9.2

    Why does Spry Horizontal Menu cause site not to load using Firefox and Maverick OSX 10.9.2?

    Your code is terribly malformed.
    There are multiple body tags & erroneous tags that overlap your <head> and other content tags. Get those fixed first.
    And you also have more than 1 doctype definition in the wrong place.
    If my assumption is correct, I think each include file you're using has its own doctype, body, html & head definitions causing final PHP to render all these on your output page.
    Run your site through W3 validator like Jon suggested earlier: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://www.ambppct.org/ - W3C Markup Validator
    Fix those and you should be good.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE

    Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
    I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.

  • Spry horizontal menu alignment problem

    There is an issue I am dealing with that is causing problems.
    I am trying to avoid having the borders double up in thickness, anywhere within the menu.
    I have achieved this by using the left and bottom border everywhere I can and then adding class or id tags where appropriate and adding my own top and right borders.
    Works fine everywhere except at the top of the dropdown section of the submenus where it connects with the main horizontal menu.
    I would like that top box of the submenu to align perfectly with the main horizontal menu bar so that there is a clean single pixel line.
    A clean contiuous line around all menu objects.
    When I add a top border on that top box of the submenu, I can adjust the placement a little but it always seems to either over ride the main horizontal menu, which causes me to either lose the border or double up on it.
    if I have a border completely around both the horizontal menu and the submenu, then when I align them so that the borders sit on top of each other, I get an artifact at the corners of the lines that appear as a gap.  It is NOT clean.
    I can edit the position of the submenu in the CSS code below, I have done this with the margin-top statement.  I have adjusted that between 0 and -1, and will inlcude images of the problem.  Hopefully this will work.
    I want a very clean continous line around the menu boxes that does NOT leave gaps, does NOT double up in thickness or leave any strange looking artifacts anywhere.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Posting screenshots only demonstrates the problem. For anyone to troubleshoot it for you, they need to see the actual menu. Upload the problem page to a public website, and post the URL here. Then someone can have a look at it for you.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar width problem in IE and Safari

    Hi Everyone,
    I am working on a template and have used Spry Horizontal Menu for quite a few sites now. This one is giving me problems though on the width of the navigation bar.  It moves the last right menu item to the next row on the left in Safari and IE and Chrome, but looks perfect in Firefox.  I'm using a googlefont for the text. As I have quite a few menu items I have them set to 'auto' width.  Is there a fix to make all the others look like it does in Firefox or do I need to shorten my menu items by changing titles/reducing padding, etc.?
    Working page can be viewed at www.ikanizi.com/index2.html
    Many thanks.

    Anyone who increases their browser's text size will see the same thing.  For wiggle room, reduce top-level links from 11 to no more than 7.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar in IE

    Hello,
    I had looked at the forums for a possible solution to this, and none of the answers I have found work for me. I have a spry horizontal menu bar with a background image. It works in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox but on IE the background image does not show. There is only a white background. I have changed ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE to have a background image but it still doesn't show in IE.
    This is the website: fwmedpeds.net
    I am very new to this and any help is appreciated.

    If you go to your online SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css which can be found here http://fwmedpeds.net/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css, you will see the last few lines as I have previously quoted.
    You will also see what Ken Binney has said

  • Spry Horizontal Menu not displayed correctly in Internet Explorer 6

    Hello to everyone. I'm creating a website using David's tutorial. My Spry Horizontal Menu is correctly shown in Dreamweaver Live View, Firefox10 but not in IE6. It happears at the bottom of the page. Any advise? Thanks much in advance. Cecilia

    Hello Cecilia,
    please have a look here: http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser_version-ww-monthly-201201-201202-bar where you can see that this browser (IE6 ) is no longer in use and might not be used anywhere anymore.
    And so you should not worry about this. But if it does please send a link to your website in question.
    ... and what's about the newer IE?

  • Spry horizontal menu- not showing in some browsers

    my spry horizontal menu is showing up as a vertical list in
    some of our viewers computers. can i adjust the basic html so that
    if spry does not show up on someone's computer, a more basic
    horizontal table will show?

    Thank you all for the answers.
    Can pop menu magic work with image maps?
    Back in the day I created several drop down menus in Dreamweaver CS2 by adding behaviors to image maps. I liked that I pretty much could drop a menu from any point on an image.
    Example: http://www.bettendorfdental.com/
    So I have been going back to my old laptop and CS2 every time I needed to change something in these menus, but that was very inefficient.
    My client wants the top banner to be in one image, with customized buttons that share the background of the logo and business name.
    I have been customizing the topaz template in pop up magic but what the client reallly wants is to have the tab images as part of the larger image. So ideally there wouldn't be any text in the top menu and only the drop down part would show up.
    http://www.monicagraphicdesign.com/Bill/spiritual.html
    For people like me, who do not write or understand code, even searching a knowledge base can be a challenge because we do no know what to type in the search box! I am glad to learn Project Seven offers one on one support.
    Another challenge is that the client manages his own site and uses Front Page on a PC (and I have neither) so I don't even know if he can attach the stylesheets to every page where he inserts the menu.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu straddles header

    Problem: Spry Horizontal Menu straddles header
    I created a new page using
    "1 column elastic, centered, header and footer"
    I add a Spry Horizontal Menu within the "header" div.
    The menu does not display entirely within the grey header
    area.
    The menu straddles half in the header and half below the
    header.
    I believe this is because of the float i.e.
    "ul.MenuBarHorizontal li" has "float: left;".
    How do I make the menu stay entirely within the grey header
    content area?
    Thanks ahead of time.
    <div id="header">
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarHorizontal">
    <li><a href="#">Home</a> </li>
    <li><a href="#">People</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    font-size: 100%;
    position: relative;
    text-align: left;
    cursor: pointer;
    width: auto;
    float: left;

    Hi,
    The original CSS has been very carefully composed so that it will work in all browsers. If you make any changes to the original and you do not know what you are doing, you are asking for problems.
    When I look at your first set of rules and I see the following marked in red and a rules marked in green that are left out, then I know you will have a problem:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal
        padding: 0;
        list-style-type: none;
        font-size: 100%;
        cursor: default;
        width: auto;
        background-image: url(myImage.jpg); // rename the image to your own
        background-repeat: repeat;
        vertical-align: bottom;
        float: none;
        position: absolute;
        margin: auto;
    Keep in mind that the original stylesheet has no browser issues. Any changes that you make are for your account and have basically nothing to do with Spry.
    My suggestion to you is, make a copy of the modified stylesheet for reference, then put back the original stylesheet. Consequently, make a new stylesheet called myStyles.css or similar, and put your changed rules in the newly created stylesheet eg.
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal
         background-image: url(myImage.jpg);
         background-repeat: repeat;
    Then attach this stylesheet to your document after the original stylesheet.
    If you cannot get the required result, merely play around with the rules within myStyles.css.
    I hope this helps.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu is Vertical

    I installed a Spry Horizontal Menu Bar on one of my clients
    web pages and everything was going fine.
    But then all of a sudden the horizontal menu switched to
    vertical and I can't figure out how to undo this.
    At this point even when I ask DW to insert a Spry horizontal
    menu bar onto a new page, it inserts a vertical one!
    Did I mess up the .css somehow?
    Thanks!
    Greg in New Orleans

    Try making one on a fresh page. When you select the Spry
    Menu, you are
    asked if it's vertical or horizontal and then tells you it
    will copy files
    and you click okay.
    Does your page use the SpryHorizontalMenu.css page? Could you
    maybe be
    using the wrong one?
    If you still can't get it, could you post a link to your
    page?

  • My spry horizontal menu drops then returns when clicked?

    Hello,
    I recently updated my website to include a Facebook "Like" button with counter, and now my spry horizontal menu jumps up and down when you click a menu item?
    http://www.kansascitycrates.com/index.html
    I played around with the like button position in my template, before just adding it to the existing "Recommend" position at the top.  It is simply a 2 column 1 row table.
    What setting is causing the Spry horizontal menu to jump like that?
    Thanks in advance.
    John

    Thank you SnakEyez02,
    I made the changes you suggested. The spry horizontal menu should be below the header background image.  Also, I put the Facebook plugins into a table, for lack of better understanding of controlling it's placement.  I would like both Facebook buttons to be even along the top.
    When I opened the template this morning, the last spry menu option (Testimonials) suddenly word wrapped (?) and began a second line under the first menu item (Contact).  So I played with adjusting it's width and font size. I haven't made any other template changes in 6 months and don't know why it "word wrapped"?
    Thank you again for your help.

        width: auto;
        background-image: url(myImage.jpg); // rename the image to your own
        background-repeat: repeat;
        vertical-align: bottom;
        float: none;
        position: absolute;
        margin: auto;
    Keep in mind that the original stylesheet has no browser issues. Any changes that you make are for your account and have basically nothing to do with Spry.
    My suggestion to you is, make a copy of the modified stylesheet for reference, then put back the original stylesheet. Consequently, make a new stylesheet called myStyles.css or similar, and put your changed rules in the newly created stylesheet eg.
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal
         background-image: url(myImage.jpg);
         background-repeat: repeat;
    Then attach this stylesheet to your document after the original stylesheet.
    If you cannot get the required result, merely play around with the rules within myStyles.css.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why does my iPhone 5 take very grainy flash photographs in the dark will a hard reboot be safe to do to try to fix or is it a hardware issue?

    Why does my iPhone 5 take very grainy flash photographs in the dark will a hard reboot be safe to do to try to fix or is it a hardware issue?
    And By hard boot I mean holding the home and power button down at the same time for 10 seconds or whatever
    I see other people have these grainy flash photographs if you try to take a picture in darkness the picture comes out very dark and grainy I thought the software would ultimately fix this but it's been going on for over a year I usually take my photographs in daylight but I need this to be fixed
    If it is a hardware issue I hope Apple will replace my iPhone 5 because I was just waiting for one of the iOS updates to fix it I bought my phone in November 2012 its the iPhone 5
    Please help or advise if you can was this just a software or hardware issue I know Apple was aware of it but I was advised that iOS update would fix it but obviously not
    Is it safe to do a hard boot on my iPhone five by holding the power and home button at the same time for 10 or 20 seconds I saw someone said that fixed there's at least temporarily
    I'm typing this on my iPhone five right now why do the words go off to the left and right no matter if I hold the phone vertical or horizontal the words bleed off to left right so for me to proofread it I have to move my text left to right to proof read it
    Thank you

    The flash on a smartphone camera is tiny. It only lights up a very small area right in front of the camera. It won't light up the whole scene.
    Have you seen the size of the flash on a professional camera? Even they can't light a whole scene in the dark.
    Fact is, a smartphone camera is not capable of taking good photos in the dark, even with the flash.
    You'll need to buy and learn how to use a professional, dedicated SLR camera to be able to take good photos in the dark. It is not easy.
