Why does my simple serial VI application crash on starting.

I have written and tested a simple VI which collects data from a serial device. The VI works perfectly on my development computer.
I created an application from my VI, and installed it on another computer with the the Labview 6i RunTime Engine.
The application started but would not communicate with my instrument. I noticed that the VISA resource name combo-box button was greyed out as well. VISA was returning error 1073807346 "??? in VISA Configure Serial Port->[VI NAME].vi"
I checked NI Support and found the article "VISA Program Does Not Run as a Distributed Application". Which suggested my visaconf.ini file aliases were not present. I could not find the file on the computer and assumed I had to ins
tall some kind of VISA software.
I tried installing the VISA RunTime Engine, ver2.60. This installed the visaconf.ini file which I added the correct aliases to. After rebooting I tried my application again, but it crashed on starting.
I since tried installing the application on my development computer and the application appeared to crash in the same way.
What am I doing wrong?!

I was using GeForce 314.22 Driver earlier today when it first failed
I reverted back to GeForce 310.90 Driver which also failed
Now I have installed GeForce 301.42 Driver and After Effects works again. Additionally, I didn't get the intermediary fault I described above (GPUSniffer crashing, but no AE) so I will stick with this driver until the next NVidia driver is released, and try that.
I'd consider reporting this to NVidia, but just haven't got the time or inclination.

My problem is similar. It began right after I allowed an Adobe update to run. (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 is recorded in my Registry.) Now every single website I try to open triggers a window (see below) and repeats many times.
It makes no difference whether I "Allow" or not. I think it runs this window for every flash object on that website. It is occurring while I enter this post!
It makes using the Internet MOST challenging. Surely this is causing major problems for everyone.
I have IE8 on Windows Vista.

Me too, ipad mini can't get YouTube app to function via the official app and the same error message," ...tap to retry", but to no avail. The app launches but it will not allow me to sign in. Application crashes on starting from one path but works from another path

We have an odd problem. A small application is deployed to a handful of users. The PB11.5 version has been running successfully for years on XP and then a year on Win7. It was recently migrated to PB12.5 and redeployed. It is a simple deployment - EXE, PBD and runtime DLLs all in the same folder. For one user, the application crashes before it has hardly started. The Windows messsage "Application has stopped working" is displayed. The further details shows it is event APPCRASH and module PBVM125.dll where the failure occurs.
However, if the folder name it is deployed to is renamed - no other changes, just a rename - it works fine. Rename the folder back to the original name and it fails again.
Other than the zero change migration to PB12.5, the application has not changed for 4-5 years and much of it is over 10 years old. While the error handling could be improved, it has functioned perfectly OK in previous incarnations and this version runs properly elsewhere.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
The application is very basic in its design - it doesn't specifically reference the Registry (although the runtime dlls might). My suspicions are a corruption in the Registry or Prefetch or Folder Redirection.
The user machines are supplied under a third party contract so we are limited in what we can see and do to investigate.

Our infrastructure vendor has removed the problem by performing a profile reset on the affected user account. The application now runs successfully in the intended location.
Presumbably this action has cleared both the User registry and Windows user account settings. I consider this to be a sledgehammer solution as the user has lost other setting too (eg. Outlook accounts).
I suspect that this is all I will ever know of the cause. If I learn anything more precise I will share it with you.
By all means continue to offer your suggestions. However, as the problem has been eradicated, no further investigation will be possible unless it recurs.

Many applications CRASHING on start up after installing security updates

I recently ran a software update and installed a bunch of updates, probably 2-3 for Mac OS X (security update) and an iTunes one and all the Final Cut Studio updates. After doing this I've been having a lot of problems with programs crashing on start up. Two programs that come to mind are Apple's Motion and the "Stickies" program included in OS X. Is there any way to fix this without re-installing the entire operating system?!

Thanks for the advice baltwo; I followed the suggestions provided in the link and installed Preferential Treatment but the problem is still present with the application "stickies". It doesn't seem to be a preferences issue, since it is exclusive to one account. I tried copying over the StickiesDatabase file from my account to another and then opening stickies only to find it fails to launch in the other account as well. It seems like my StickiesDatabase file may be corrupted? Is there anyway to recover the information in this file?! My main concern right now is just recovering the notes I made in the Stickies.
Btw, I repaired all permissions and did a lot cache clearing and system optimizing and clean up using ONYX, no improvement afterwards.
One other thing: Most other apps are working fine with the exception of a certain project file in Motion 3 crashing on start up..but that's not my primary concern right now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
