  • Flash animation working in program preview, not in browser with up to date Flash Player.

After hitting next on this animation you can see there appears to be blank areas on the animation. If you mouse over them you will see buttons appear which is their "over state." When I publish the animation and preview it in Adobe Flash CS5.5 all the buttons are visible and work correctly. It is only in the brower (chrome, firefox, safari) with up to date Flash Player that is is not working. This is happening in a number of animations I created originally in CS4 last year, and am updating them as CS5.5 using AS3.
My application is up to date.

Are you loading those images externally?
Can you share an example of you loading an external file if so? It should look similar to this:
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onErrorHandler);
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onCompleteHandler);
    function onErrorHandler(e:IOErrorEvent):void
// put some visual code here to tell yourself you have a load error
         // otherwise you'll never know
         trace(e);
    function onCompleteHandler(e:Event):void
// add to display list if you wish (a Loader is a displayobject), or add it to a sprite and name it, etc
         addChild(e.target);
If you're not checking for errors then you won't know it's not loading things properly. That is of course if you're loading external assets.

    Please help...

I do not really know much about this kind of problem, but i may be your internet connection.
If you are on your own #G network then:
Go to Settings > then enable "Airplane Mode". Count to 10 and then disable it.
Then wait patiently until you get a good connection and then try again.
If you are on a nearby Wi-Fi connection then:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then disable then enable after counting to 10. Make sure that you are connected and then try again.
If all else fails, then you need to contact your provider for assistance.

  • Help with Flash Player- Not Playing

I recently went to a website where it said that i needed to
download the latest version of Flash Player. I followed the
directions and installed it, and the movie came up after
installation, but on the website it still said i needed to install
flash player again. I went through the other forum posts and tried
everything, but it still wouldn't show up. Then today i was on the
website and finally the video came up, but then when i refreshed
the page the video was gone and it again said i needed to install
the latest version of Flash Player. The video has shown up twice in
the past day, then says i need to reinstall again. I've tried
everything, but the videos just wont show up. Does anyone know how
    to fix this for good?

JDB... your problems and solutions are different (and much
    more complex). Read this CAREFULLY.
Printable, lovingly formatted versions of these steps, valid
as of 9/15/2007 are available. I recommend printing them and
following along with the print version:
    .doc:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.doc
    .pdf:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.pdf
The issue is this: You have multiple accounts on your XP
machine. One account plays Flash no problem, the other doesn't,
although both are Administrator accounts. Or possibly you have only
one account, and that account fails to play any Flash content. In
any case if you have ANY odd trouble with the Flash Player ActiveX
control for Windows as of September 2007, these should be your
steps. And yes, you need to do both sets of steps, in order!
The cause: This is usually caused by either or BOTH of the
    following problems:
    1. Leftover locked bits of an old Flash Player installation
    2. Registry permission errors (aka 'ACL's)
OK so what do you do about this?
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
    a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
    c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
    to reboot, then reboot.
    d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
    flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
    bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, proceed to TWO.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
    Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
    What is the version number?
    f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
    this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
    is!
    g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
    stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
    like this:
    UninstFl.exe -u
    c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
    command line yourself.
    h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
    registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits.
AND even after reinstalling you may still have continued
problems with Flash Player not being recognized.
Then we have to move on to section two..
    TWO: Registry Permission Problems
We have been working on Flash Player failures caused by
Windows System Registry issues. We have not been able to determine
what’s causing these permissions to change. But that change
prevents the successful installation of Flash Player ActiveX
    control (used by IE Windows).
Registry permission problems can be resolved using a tool
called SubInACL, built by Microsoft to correct system registry
    issues.
    Symptoms: What to look for:
    1. If you install Flash Player on IE and are unable to see
    Flash content on any webpage
    2. After installation C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
will have flash 9c.ocx in it but it failed to register
    3. It appears that Flash Player installed correctly, but
    unable to view Flash content
    4. Flash Player works on other browsers, but NOT Internet
    Explorer
    5. If you are missing groups in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Advanced
    Permissions
    6. If you have run registry cleaners in the past, this may
    have corrupted your system
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe
Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this
    information.
    1. Select Start > Run
    2. Type in “regedit”
    3. Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    4. Select Permissions
    5. Select Advanced
    For Vista
Compare your permissions with the ones in this screenshot.
    http://www.supportflash.com/vista_key.png
For Window XP Pro or other flavors of XP
Compare your permissions with the ones in this document
“Troubleshooting system registry issues that prevent Flash
Player installation” (scroll down to the bottom of page).
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400116
Notice any major differences, missing groups, incorrect
    permissions?
How can you repair the System Registry, what's the fix
Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
that prevent the Flash Player Installation.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb
NOTE: The Microsoft version of the .cmd script run by
SubInACL is not be run on any XP version other than Pro. HOWEVER,
the Adobe .cmd script in the above technote is tested safe for ALL
    VERSIONS OF XP!!!
If you have a Windows System Registry permission issue that
sounds like the one described above, SubINACL may be the solution.
Please note that if you have this issue on multiple accounts on one
machine you’ll need to fix each machine individually.

  • Why does Firefox freeze every time I try to install Adobe Flash player? I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with and without the plugin container.

When I have Adobe Flash player installed and I open Firefox it will freeze up as soon as I open an additional tab other than my home page tab. In order to close Firefox after it freezes I have to use my Windows Task Manager to end process. As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash player and reboot and then open Firefox it works fine.

    Thank's for your help
    Illioucha

There are two different versions of Flash, one version for IE (ActiveX) and another version for all other browsers (Plugin version). You need to install the Plugin version,
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

  • Outlook Web Access not working in Safari or any other browse

When I try to access OWA from ANY browser, Safari, IE, or Firefox, I get the same error.
"You could not be logged on to Outlook Web Access. Make sure your User Name and Password are correct, and then try again."
When I log in from my PC, I don't have this problem.
The IT guys at work claim that they won't support Mac problems. Typical....
    Any thoughts?

Don't know if this will help, but are you providing the correct credentials via Safari? When you use IE, you are presented with a dialog box that asks for userid, password, and domain name. Safari and other browsers will only ask for the userid and password. Consequently, when using these browsers, you need to preface your userid with the domain name followed by a backslash. For example:
    mydomain\jsmith
While Safari works with OWA, it has an annoying habit of requesting the username and password frequently as you navigate through OWA. I also find that I occasionally have to to click twice on a button to get Safari to activate a command such as reading a message or the Send button. I now use Camino for OWA access. It's cleaner and faster.

  • Why does Safari drop stylesheets after browsing a few pages?

I've got an intranet here at work and we're trying to figure out why Safari drops default.css when we browse around a few different pages.
Basically after a short while, it stops recognising our default.css and renders it all as if default.css didn't exist.
I have checked in the developer tools to confirm that it stopped using default.css so now I am truly stuck.
It only happens in Safari and not Chrome which suprised me. Does anyone know if bad HTML or validation will stop the css being rendered properly?

You can do some basic Safari trouble shooting by:
    Safari - Reset Safari
    Safari - Empty Cache
You can also be just low on RAM. As a general rule your system should have about 500MB or more of FREE RAM. To check to see how much your system has open Activity Monitor - System Memory Tab and look for the amount of free RAM. You can find AM in Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor. Remember to check when you are seeing a slow down otherwise the information will be meaningless. The graphic will look similar to:

  • My Safari (or any other browser), won't open Ebay, Facebook, Yahoo! Mail

I just moved into a new apartment. I do not have an apple wireless router, it is a DI-524, and it has always worked. I set up my network and configured everything, and for a few days everything was working fine.
A few days ago though, suddenly safari, firefox, and even the old crummy version of Internet Explorer wouldn't properly load sites like ebay, usaa, facebook, and Yahoo! mail. I don't know a lot about websites but perhaps these all have something in common?
Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the problem so that I could get those sites loading properly again.

    Same problem
New MAC owner (iMac, macbook 13", mac mini). My son's been complaining about facebook, myspace, youtube being slow for the past week or so. I don't use those sites so I thought maybe it was something HE was doing, or they're just very busy sites.
I tried doing some online banking at USAA.com yesterday and hit the same walls (loops) everyone else is experience, HAS experienced, with nearly every update of the Safari browser (so far as I can tell from this forum and hundreds of others on the web). I'm using Safari Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1)
I'm ALSO having the SAME problem with MS XP IE 6 (recent update), but not 7 (NOT updated in past month).
Tech svc at USAA tells me this is an ongoing problem with Apple AND MS and they're trying to decide whether to change THEIR software, or hope APPLE/MS does THEIR part in testing their products more fully before doing these updates which cause the same problem month after month.
I bought MACs 'cause I was tired of dealing with the weekly updates/crashes/virus/malware and XP software problems to the tune of several dozen hours a year (4 home PCs on our network) and just wanted a computer that WORKED.
    Well, this isn't working.
Have an email into Apple tech svc for a callback, so unless you have a DIRECT fix, or a way to roll back the OS, there's no need to reply.
This is NOT, repeat, NOT a problem with USAA, Youtube, Myspace, Facebook, but with the OS X update.

  • Pictures won't load in Safari, or any other browser

I have an intermittent problem where internet pictures won't load. This seems to happen mostly on social networking or picture intensive sites. I've particularly had trouble with myspace, livejournal, facebook, flickr, okcupid, etc., but it is not limited to those sites. Sometimes pics won't load in Safari but will load in firefox. Sometimes the other way around. Sometimes neither of those browsers will work, and neither will opera, explorer, etc. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm connected by airport or ethernet. I Know it is not my internet connection because I have a PC on the same network that never has this problem. When I travel with my macbook, the problem comes with me.
I am currently running 10.5.2 on a 2 GHZ macbook. Previously, I had this exact same problem on a 550 MHZ Titanium Powerbook G4 running 10.4. I used to think it was just my old slow computer, but when I upgraded computers I transferred all my files and settings with the migration assistant, and the problem seems to have followed.
    Things I have tried:
    1. Making a new user account. I added a new account but did not delete my old one or do a clean install. This did not work.
    2. Using a new DNS server. No dice.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having an issue with certain webpages loading on my Macbook...(ex. my bank site, Facebook). Sometimes I am lucky enough to get to the login page, but it stalls there.  Since the issue started while using Safari, I tried using FireFox, but the issue persists..tried to access the same pages' mobile sites in Safari on my iPhone 4S and it doesn't load either and gives this message "Safari cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server."
I've emptied my Safari history and cache, but it didn't help. It seems like this issue just started overnight!

  • Do you know any flash plugins for safari or any other browser?

I often go on miniclip.com where you need a plugin to play an online game. I am wondering if anyone knows of any plugins I could install.

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
