Why doesn't anything happen when I hit the download button for Mavericks OS X? I have a MacBook Late 2009 with Lion 10.7.5.

Down load fron the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it. It will show you all of your files and the respective sizes.
In addition, click on your HDD icon in the upper right hand corner of your desk top with COMMAND I (I as in the letter i). What does it say about the space used and available.

Nothing happens when I hit the home button

When I press on the home button, it will not take me back to the home page. Instead I'm stuck in an app (ie, mail, messages, phone etc). The button does press inwards when pressed but it doesn't change the screen.

Hello! I'm having a giant I-Tunes problem. It started acting up a few weeks ago - wouldn't let me add information to songs, etc. and now it's full-blown screwed up - won't transfer music into the library, won't transfer music onto my IPod from my library, etc. So I finally decided to uninstall and reinstall and hope that might help. I uninstalled it and it is no longer on my computer. When I go to download it, though, it immediately comes up with "thank you for downloading" after I hit the the button and does NOT download. I can't get it back and if I do, I don't know if it will work. Any advice? Much appreciated! Tom

There's a couple of things you can try with that one.
(1) You could try doing the update using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple website:

(2) You could try doing a "Run as Administrator" with your Apple Software Update.
Quit Apple Software Update first if you've got it open.
In Computer (or My Computer, on XP) open your C Drive or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you've got a 32-bit Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you've got a 64-bit Windows, open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Open the "Apple Software Update" folder.
Right-click on the "SoftwareUpdate.exe" file and select "Run as Administrator", as per the following screenshot:

Or Try to run Internet Explorer in comapatibility mode.

However, it is working when i hit the watch button.

In the past when I have updated successfully, the spinning circle would show me an indicator of time left on the update. I no longer have this Indicator. The circle just spins and times out and nothing happens. I've reset the iPad in the settings menu, reset the router, logged in and out of Apple id, powered ithe iPad off and on, and tried a couple other "fixes" that I've read online. So far no luck. How much free space do you have? If it is low, installers may not be able to run properly.

TonyE is correct the plugin version comes with Adobe's Reader X.
The failure in communication is two parted:
1. Reader X is not Acrobat (Mozilla Plugin Checker)
2. Acrobat is not mentioned in the Reader X download Page (Adobe)
therefore confused clients.

sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
And if it doesn't work still after that, as much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)

Firefox doesn't retry downloads when I hit the retry button.

i will be downloading something and it will freeze and stop downloading so i hit pause and then when i hit resume it comes with a message saying the path is unavailable or something and ends the download. then when i hit the retry button to retry the download it just goes through a quick scan and ends it right there with a partially downloaded file that nothing can be done to.

There is something you can try when this happens..
Go to your downloads folder location. If the download has failed, Firefox may have created a .part file. If your file is ''largefile.exe'', look out for ''largefile.exe.part''.
Now basically all you have to do is go to the downloads page and start downloading your file again. This time pause the download, go to your downloads folder.
Rename "largefile.exe" to "oldlargefile.exe".
Rename "largefile.exe.part" to "largefile.exe" obviously replacing the name with your own file.
Now resume your download. It should continue from where it left off.
