Why doesn't smpatch analyze match patchdiag output?

Can someone explain this and if it will change in the future. If so, when ca we expect it?
First, I understand that the patchdiag.xref file is commonly more current than patchdb.zip (by a day) but that's not what I am talking about.
I see across most hosts and OS versions patches that aren't flagged for update by smpatch analyze but are by patchdiag. Many are obviously important files (not obscure), a good example I have seen on other boxes are the SUNWsan patches, sd patches, etc.
Below is an example from a Solaris 10 box.
# smpatch analyze
No patches required.

Hope this ouput helps. JB

    HEY APPLE  FIX THIS

  • Why Doesn't Mac iCal Match iOS Cal Alert Options?

I have read all the issues with the wacky integration between iCal and iOS Cal integration.   My question regards the options to set for alert on an event.  I like the default options on the iPhone on 15 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 1 day, 2 days.   How can I get iCal to offer this same options when creating a new event on Mac OS X?

I am completely disgusted w/ Apple at this point!!!  I've had my iPhone 5 for about a year now and I've NEVER been able to sync it w/ my pc (yes.......I've tried ALL the suggested fixes for my version of Windows, before anyone else starts regurgitating all the crap I've read thru a dozen times to no avail).  Basically.....if you want to really address your problem by 'reinstalling' itunes; you'd better have your schedule for the ENTIRE NIGHT clear because you'll be waiting for itunes to download for a good 5 hours.  (occasionally you'll read some knuckle head's feedback, who is probably an Apple employee, saying that it "only takes 5 minutes".  I'd highly suggest not even paying attention to these morons!!
Yes I realize that I haven't contributed anything productive to this thread.....yes I realize it will irritate some people.....however they'll need to deal with it because at this point, I'm simply using this thread to 'vent' my frusteration w/ Apple.  Horrible update!!  Horrible support!!  Horrible suggested fixes and even worse acknowledgment of your customer base's problems w/ your product!!!  I'm seriously contemplating selling my iphone and going android again.  Samsung's looking pretty good right about now!!

  • Rename cluster resource - why doesn't the name match?

  • Color profile doesn't match print output

Why do my prints come out much darker than they appear on the monitor? I edit in Adobe 5 and print from Lightroom 3  with monitor calibration (Spyder software), and ICC profiles for my Epson paper, printed on my Epson printer.

There could be a few reasons why your prints don't match your monitor:
    1. The profile you're using for your printer may be a generic one and not one made specifically for your printer. Just like any two TV's, even two identical TV's can represent color differently.
    2. Your monitor may be beyond its peak. Most monitors are reliable for about three years in regards to being able to represent critical color. But, the begin to degrade from day 1, just like humans.
    3. Have you confirmed your software and computer are actually using the latest monitor profile?
    4. May be that your monitor profile was made incorrectly by accident? Try making a new one.

  • Solaris9: smpatch analyze indicate wrongly only few patches missing

    Hi,
On my Solaris 9 system (through LPS solaris 10), smpatch analyze indicates only 3 patches missing (SAN4.4.x).
But when I check with patchdiag.xref, i find it should indicates much more.
I manuallly add (patchadd) the patch 140476-01 as indicated in the last smpatch messages (2009/01/13) to take in account the new certificates and new patchset (current2).
Could you tell me what I missed and how I can recover the fully functionnal smpatch ?

First, thanks for the analysis of sidmir. And thanks for having taken my problem in account.
Second, the patchdiag.xref i meant is the crossref of the patchdiag-1.0.4 tool.
I put an excerpt result of the patchdiag command on ACSLSCTI (i removed the CURRENT lines) is below. I consider that what patchdiag is warning about should be returned by smpatch analyze.

  • Solaris 10 - LPS not working with smpatch analyze

I recently started patching systems with IDR124828-01 as a temporary fix to the security vulnerability listed here:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-102724-1
Since this temporary patch requires kernel patch 118833-24, I needed to get a few of my systems up to date. However, after patching the LPS with the temporary patch, using `smpatch analyze/update` on any system returns: No patches required.
I successfully patched some systems yesterday, so I figured the temporary patch had borked the patchsvr. I verified the problem was with the LPS because changing smpatch settings on the LPS like so: patchpro.patch.source=https://getupdates1.sun.com/ works fine.
Restarting the patchsvr doesn't help. Debug output from smpatch is also not helpful. There are no errors appearing in the patchsvr logs.
Any advice on how I can back out the temporary patch gracefully, or any other problems that may be causing this?

There were 13 clients originally, there seems to be problems with more than 4. They are all running solaris 10.
The debug output isn't being very helpful (no errors, obvious problems) - All of the analyzed patches appear in this form:
    com.sun.patchpro.patch.PatchSequencer@63b2e6 <=Installed patch 121133-02 is >= to current patch 121133-02
There don't seem to be any listed patches newer than September 22 (About the last time they got a large set of patches) - Some of the patches are not current versions as well. E.g. it analyzed patch 121081-05, the latest revision is -06.

  • I am using both PSE 13 and Lightroom 5.  When I use Lightroom as an external editor and save the photo, it shows up in PSE13 as an edited file but does not look any different.  Why doesn't it appear edited?

I am using both PSE 13 and Lightroom 5.  When I use Lightroom as an external editor and save the photo, it shows up in PSE13 as an edited file but does not look any different.  Why doesn't it appear edited?

People who have Photoshop, but don't have Lightroom, need ACR so that they can use Raw files. Without ACR they could do nothing with those (they may also like having ACR so that they can work on other kinds of image using the same kinds of adjustments and techniques, as are used with Raw files).
People who have Lightroom, can get access to Raw files regardless whether ACR is present or not. They can use Lightroom on other kinds of image also, using the same methods. LR can pass images directly into Photoshop without passing via ACR (or else does so transparently, which amounts to substantially the same thing).
ACR does not, strictly speaking, even need to be installed for this external editing to happen. In fact, not even PS needs to be - since a different image editor can be used instead, while still retaining the Adobe Raw conversion etc.
Lightroom "subcontracts out" specialised external tasks, in this workflow, but is still your "main contractor": the image is otherwise located, viewed, managed, adjusted/presented and output entirely using LR.
So IMO we can divide image processing into:
operations that involve pixels and layers and layer masks and adjustment layers etc (of the kind done inside Photoshop)
operations that involve parametric edits (of the kind done in ACR where you are not using a Lightroom based workflow; otherwise, done inside Lightroom)
When PS is called in, that's because those tasks are impossible or unsuitable to do in Lightroom. But those tasks can't be done in ACR either - by definition, since LR and ACR have exactly the same image processing "feature set".
Lightroom is irrelevant to the Bridge + ACR + PS workflow. This workflow requires both your PS and your ACR to be current enough, to support your Raw format etc.
ACR and Bridge are irrelevant to the LR + (image editor) workflow. It is in this case, only LR which needs to be current enough to support your Raw format etc.

  • Why doesn't my iPhoto library sync properly to my iPhone/iPad?

Why doesn't my iPhoto library sync properly to my iPhone and iPad? I have already tried deleting the iPod photo cache. I sync the entire iPhoto library, which includes about 8,000 photos. The Events and Albums never match up, with many missing photos in most albums and events.

Thats is how I did it originally and tried it that way again but it never brings in my library.  Now it gives me a response saying it doesn't have correct permissions. I'm the only user on the iMac. I did recently move the library from my old iMac iPhoto with no trouble.

  • Why doesn't  System Information.App provide battery serial?

Why doesn't  System Information.App provide battery serial? Even /usr/sbin/system_profiler -detailLevel full doesn't show the battery serial.
When I open System Information.App I get this output. Serial number ist not even displayed:

I did now try some system tools. They don't show the battery serial, too. I think, they rely on the system profiler's informations and therefore get no data.
When was this feature removed from OS X? According to posts on the internet the battery serial was show up to 10.6 but I never read about the App showing it on 10.7. What about 10.8 users? Do you see the battery serial?

  • Smpatch analyze and download picks up just some Veritas patches

smpatch analyze and download are picking up Veritas patches but only some of them. I found this out the hard way yesterday when only some of the SFRAC packages were patched during OS patching.
Veritas support is aware and said other customers had called in with similar outages caused by this.
Is anyone at Sun aware this is happening?
Personally I find is disturbing that Sun is including any Veritas patches in the output by default. The fact that they are partially patching the installed product in some cases is reason enough not to do this.

We assure our detectors and current files are kept up to date daily. (we're not updateconnection newbies ;-))
We are not in the practice of doing the leg work for Sun support (especially since we pay for support), please ask them to do their own analysis of the patches they are supplying and QA work.
Veritas provides very nice packages for both the SF packages and their patches, Sun should be directing customers to use those rather than going off and doing their own thing when it comes to Veritas products. Our sysadmins (all 20 of them) agree we should not allow Sun to patch our Veritas products, especially considering the ongoing QA issues with Sun's patch products.
    Thanks for responding.
