Why is a faint checkerboard pattern showing up on monitor, in print module and on prints ? Am using PS CC and Mac Mavericks on a calibrated iMac.

Actually, if you make the Intel Mac the target and connect it to the G3 Mac with 10.3.9, it probably will not work, because 10.3.9 cannot read disks that are partitioned using +GUID partition table+. This is noted at the bottom of this article.

You can connect the FireWire cable between the two Macs before or after starting up the target Mac. The host Mac can be turned on, but it should work either way. If you have not tried this combo, try putting the iMac G3 into target mode first (not connected), then connect it to the Intel Mac that is already running, like you were hot-plugging an external hard drive.
If you are using the thin cable that came with the original iPod, you may want to try a regular thicker FireWire cable.
You can also try these general troubleshooting procedures, if you have not done them yet.

Contacts are synced with a compatible programme in the computer; in the iCloud or with Yahoo and Google Mail. You can directly "edit" a contact on the phone and/or within the programme that you are syncing your contacts with.
Have you configured/setup mails on your iPhone? If yes, check the contents of the mail account(s) individually. (including iCloud) from SETTINGS - MAILS, CONTACTS, CALENDARS
"Contacts" if chosen from the mail account (s) would add email addresses to your contacts.

Just downloaded a HD movie to my computer (brand new MacBook Pro, all software up to date) and can't watch it on my Apple TV (brand new last year, all software upto date). Using Airplay mirroring works fine in general but when I press play on the movie I lose the picture and get only a checkerboard pattern and sound. Another MacBook we have gives a black screen with no sound. Apple assistance is completely useless. They suggested that I download the most recent software (all upto date), reload the movie (done and no help) or read the FAQs (no help, although this board suggests that there is a fundamental compatibility issue with mirroring of HD content...!) That's what the ATV is for! The new MacBook uses a different connector and I can't plug it directly into the monitor input on my TV with the connector I had from the old computer. I ordered a new connector for fifty bucks and they stupidly sent it UPS with a signature required for delivery since it is such a high value item so now I have a hassle to receive it. In any case plugging in a wire from across the room isn't a solution. Is there any way to make all of this supposedly integrated hardware and software work or has Apple completely lost their way and turned into a Microsoft clone? Hopefully some of their market mavens will read this and steer the ship back on course. In the meantime any help you may provide would be much appreciated.
The movie is from iTunes. You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

Disk warrior came highly recommended on other posts but because the drive is not mac os formatted it won't do its warrior magic...
The drive shows in disk utility but the options to repair are greyed out. The drive ejects sometimes but not others. The drive powers up with light and I can hear noise (not loud just a hum that confirms (i think) that it is spinning.). The drive is as it cames and booted on both a windows XP pc and my macbook with mac os x 10.5.8.
I have tried test disk but after running for a day with no other command prompts other than the first recommend I uninstalled it.

It's quite possible the AC PSU has given out, if It's only Bus powered as it appears, that's the worst idea ever & asking for eventual problems.

I have store credit. This was not hard in the past. I put in my ID and am told the password is wrong, I've changed it twice. Still I am asked for billing info when I have $44+ credit and even used a gift card yesterday but still I cannot purchase one song This is ridiculous
This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

I have been using Numbers on both iPhone and iPad for a while and have about 8 files stored on iCloud. I have just purchased Numbers for Mac but I do not see any of my files stored in iCloud. I have created a test spreadsheet on my Mac which says it is stored on iCloud when I choose File - Open on my Mac but this test file does not appear on Numbers on iPhone or iPad.
I have tried all what you have suggested but still no luck. I am unable to locate the file Mobile Documents in either the Library folder under Mac HD or Mac HD - System - Library.
If you've set up iCloud properly on the Mac then in your Library there will be a Mobile Documents folder with documents in it:
Everything else syncs absolutley fine such as contacts, mail, notes, pictures etc etc.
Contacts, Mail, etc. sync via another iCloud protocol. For Numbers you need 'Documents & Data' turned on, per the screenshot upthread.
Numbers appears twice under iCloud for some reason though -
Numbers doesn't appear "under iCloud". Numbers uses iCloud to sync. Not sure what your screenshot is showing. On the Mac your Numbers will be here (in Finder):

Your mac needs to have software that supports iCöud and be capable to run that software.
My Photo Stream
My Photo Stream is an iCloud service where you can view your recent photos on all of your devices. This Photo Stream feature requires OS X Lion v10.7.2 (or later) and iPhoto 9.2 (or later) or Aperture 3.2 (or later).
Shared Photo Streams
Shared Photo Streams allow you to share selected photos with people you choose. This Photo Stream feature requires OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 (or later) and iPhoto 9.4 (or later) or Aperture 3.4 (or later).
If you own a version of iPhoto 9.x you should be able to update to a compatible iPhoto version, and if you are running MacOS X 10.6.8 or later you may be able to update to Mavericks for free, if you Mac can run this software. With earlier versions, there is no free update, because new releases have to be bought as paid upgrades or with a new mac. -

I can see my subscriptions if I sign in via Safari on either of the devices, but if I try to use the built in YouTube app, it says I have no subscriptions. This started sometime on the 11th for me. I remember watching videos that morning through the app, but they were gone when I tried that afternoon.

Preview corrupted? - shows grey checkerboard pattern on PDFs
I'm using an iMac OS 10.6.8 & Preview version is 5.0.3. A few weeks ago I started getting this translucent grey checkerboard pattern across many PDF documents opening in Preview. It doesn't happen with all PDFs, and in some documents any photos on the page show clear while the text areas are covered with the checkerboard pattern. If I print the documents, there is no checkerboard pattern on the document. When I open the same documents on my old MacBook Pro running Preview 3.0.9(?) the documents are all checkerboard-free.
I'm thinking my Preview app is corrupted somehow.
Thanks in advance for your help...Note that the Menu item "Show Image Background" is checked (clicking it will uncheck it) and the transparent background shows as a checkerboard.

2010 Mac Mini, 10.7.3, dual DVI displays. - Several times a day, it shows a yellow checkerboard pattern in some windows. So far, it's appeared in Chrome, Entourage and Excel 2008. The problem occurred both before an after we upgraded the RAM. These checks appear sometimes when scrolling, sometimes while waiting for a web page to load. They go away generally with the same actions... clicking, scrolling, etc.
We have lots of other users, none of them complain of this problem.

DVD Player shows gray/white checkerboard pattern
I'm on OS X 10.8.4 on a Mac Pro 3,1 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 graphics card. I've been having trouble with DVD Player for weeks now. Randomly the display window (and sometimes even the chrome of the DVD Player app itself--the title bar and the time scrub bar) will stop showing my DVD and will change to a gray and white checkerboard pattern. It looks exactly the same as if you tried taking a screen shot or were doing AirPlay mirroring, but I'm not doing either of those two things. Usually if I send DVD Player to full screen mode the picture will come back for a second, but sometimes it just comes back long enough to expand the window, then it disappears again. This activity appears to be completely random and I can't reliable get it to happen or stop happening.
Any ideas?Try deleting the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist.
Quit the application.
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible. -
Upon startup my MacBook Pro has a checkerboard pattern running down the right side and along the bottom upon startup. When I turn it on, the screen goes from black to white to blue and then the sign on screen appears with this pattern. Sometimes it does not appear at all. Now it is there everytime I turn on the laptop. I am able to sign on an then it goes to the customary grey textured screen and I have to sign on again. Then I finally get to the the desktop area. Does anyone out there know what is going on? It is my first Mac. It has 10.7.3 OS X, 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7 processor. Memory- 4GB DDR3. Graphics- AMD Radeon 6750 M and Intel HD 3000 graphics. Below, a downloaded an image. The white stripes actually are baby blue and white checkers. Please help!

Screen grabs now only checkerboard pattern
Back in the days of 10.5, I used to be able to grab screen shots (still images) from movies and TV shows using shift-cmd-4 (e.g., in iTunes or Quicktime Player). Now, I just get a gray checkerboard pattern where the show used to be.
Is this a "hardware overlay" issue? Or has this capability been removed?
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I really miss this feature. Thanks.

Just ran a quick check on my 17" MB Pro and it worked fine from QT X, QT 7, iTunes for me. Since this is a system feature, would assume it should work consistently system wide. Have no DRM content to test what QT Kirk said but can say this capability has not been removed. -
I'm using a chekerboard pattern on a business card design and I want the pattern to be visible, but subtle. Basically, I'm overlaying a white checkerboard pattern overtop of a solid black background. The white checkerboard is set to a transparency of 5%, which I think should yield a 95% black for every other square. Do you think 95% is enough to pull this off or should I go a little lighter?
BTW, the reason I'm asking this question is when you use the separation preview in InDesign CC, any screens that are 10% or less don't show up in the preview, which made me nervous.Sandee Cohen wrote:

While I agree with Sandee about using a black tint instead of transparent white, I think she missed the subtle part, or meant to say 95% black.
If you want something really cool looking, as well as subtle, do your alterate squares with varnish (probably matte) instead of a tint so you're changing the luster rather than the color density. I thas to be done on a press though, and you pay for the varnish plate as an extra color, but it's really classy.
