Adobe software trials download but fail to open
Hello.
I am having issues downloading Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. I am working on a PC Windows XP, I’m guessing from 2004. Attempted to download Illustrator via Cloud. Tried opening the program; it loaded for a few minutes and then came up with the following message “This program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
Then downloaded InDesign with no assisting program – directly from the website. This also failed. I tried removing the program, then downloading it again in a different location but this didn’t help. I repeated this process many times, trying several different locations but no luck. The software will actually download, but will not open. When I attempt to download it, in the Adobe Download window (the destination download folder options), there is a yellow symbol with an exclamation mark next to ‘Adobe InDesign’ and the file size it will be.
I thought there was not enough disk space but even after I tried clearing space the program did not open. I am fairly certain disk space is not the issue as my computer is telling me I have enough space for the InDesign Download.
I also read somewhere that the reason why InDesign may fail to open is that the default printer may not be connected. I connected the default printer, downloaded the program again and the problem was not rectified.
I also have tried downloading Adobe Photoshop and in the destination download folder options, the yellow exclamation symbol does not appear. However, this program too crashes after I open it. Unlike with InDesign, I get to Photoshop’s menu system but after a couple of minutes loading it comes up with the message: “This program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience.” Someone pointed out on another forum that I needed to download SP3 which I did, and Photoshop ran for about 6 hours before crashing.
Have tried downloading Illustrator but will load for a few moments before crashing.Cecliicious4 to confirm you did upgrade on April 8 to Windows XP Service Pack 3 per your previous discussion at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1187050 correct?
If so then you may also want to look at the system requirements for Photoshop and InDesign, you can reference them at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/tech-specs.html, and verify there are no additional system requirements which have not been met.
You may also want to do additional maintenance on your system to verify you are not running into overheating issues which could be causing the computer to crash. I mention this since you have indicated you are attempting to install the latest Adobe Creative Software on a 9 year old computer. The amount of dust inside the case, if never cleaned, could cause all kinds of unpredictable effects similar to what you have described above.
Finally you can verify the installation was completed successfully by reviewing your installation logs. You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html. -
I can't find an article about why Aperture would fail to open, so I apologize if this is a well known problem.
I have a mac mini core solo with 2 gb of memory and 10.4.8. I installed the trial from the website and following that, the application fails to launch the first time. When opened, the icon appears for half a bounce and disappears again.
I've run the compatibility checker which suggested no problems. I've also attempted to install the 1.5.1 update even though I know I'm not supposed to. The result was the same.
I tried uninstalled and reinstalling and even app-zapping and reinstalling with no change.
So, does anyone have any ideas? I'm not convinced the issue is that I have a mac mini. I'm thinking it may be an incompatibility with another software that's installed, but I have too many to list here.
Mac Mini Intel Core Solo Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2gb RAMI did actually try that. After I installed 1.5.1 the first time just to see what happened, then tried uninstalling and app-zapping - I went back to square one and got a new img and trial code. No luck there either.
(but thanks for the help) -

saving from Safari as PDF results in an icon with 0 byte volume that fails to open as it is "damaged" Why and how to solve?
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -
Tried to install Firefox but an error message "Extraction failed - cannot open output file" always pops up, without a reason. Why's this happening?
Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes it work.
You may need to delete the temp folder (%TEMP%) to remove the old files. -

We have just moved to CR2008 and have been migrating our first application to support same.
We have a number of reports developed in CR10 which were designed based on stoered procedures with parameters and as a result have a number of questions.
1. Why is it that if we have already set a reports datasource to a populated dataset we still have to pass parameters?
2. Why is it that we have to advise the viewer of connection properties if all it's doing is running a report based on the above dataset?
3. Although the above questions remain, we made the changes and this was all working fine. We subsequently loaded the CR2008 Sp1 and Sp1fix1.1 now we get an error when trying to load the reports:- "Failed to open connection"?
.LogOnInfo(0).ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "our sql server"
.LogOnInfo(0).ConnectionInfo.UserID = "valid username"
.LogOnInfo(0).ConnectionInfo.Password = "valid password"
.LogOnInfo(0).ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "database"
Thanks
GeoffDon
Thanks for the response but we have fixed this issue with help from another post on this forum but to clarify what had happened here:-
We were running VS2005 and CR10 on Windows XP but moved our systems to Vista and VS2008 after which we had a few issues with CR10 and Vista DEP.
We purchased upgrades to CR2008 but then could not run the reports with the existing code. The reason that we thought the problem was fixed and then it came back was that one of our number edited the reports in CR2008 to connect to the correct SQL Server and saved them, hooray they work!
As we were only testing and wanted to be sure of the steps taken to roll out elsewhere and unaware of the impact his changes had had on the problem he undid the checkout at the end of the day rolling back the reports to there VS 2005, CR10 state. Hey presto the next day they did not work.
All we needed to do to update the connection properties of the report was to iterate the tables collection as shown in the thread **** Canu2019t Change ServerName or DatabaseName At Runtime In Crystal Report!!!* from MikeLACalifUSA
For Each myTable In MyReport.Database.Tables
myLogonInfo = myTable.LogOnInfo
myLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = " DATASERVER2"
myLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "CMSDATASQL"
myLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.UserID = "SQL_USER"
myLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Password = "34567WERTD"
myTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(myLogonInfo)
Next myTable
Problem solved.
I'm still unsure why it is neccesary to advise the report object of the stored procedures parameters and connection properties when we are telling it that it's datsource is a fully formed and populated dataset?
I can see that being able to load different tables wthin the report from different datsources may be useful but we should be able to load and display disconnected data surely?

Hi,
I created a Crystal Report (CR XI r2) using Universe and database is Db2.
My report is working fine in Crystal report ,.But when i am uploading this report (Save AS ->enterprise) to repository ,and then trying to preview this report from CMC/Infoview,it throws error "Failed to load DB credentials "or sometimes it throws" Failed to open Connection" .
I have given DB user credentials correctly and used both option "prompt user for DB logo" as well as "use same database logon" .
I am not sure why it is throwing this error.I checked both "Bo server machine as well as Client machine ,both are having DB2 cleint installed and configured.
Is this an issue with Service Packs ?
As my machine configuration is -
BO Client - BO XI R2 RTM + SP1+SP2
BO Server (Linux) - BO XI R2 RTM
If anybody faces the same issue ,please share the solution with me,as it is very urgent .
Thanks
NitinHello,
Thank you for your post.
Based on your description, your issue is out of support of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses

Hey, I'm new to Arch and I've been working on setting it up on my Laptop and so far I haven't had very many problems save one. I can't get any of the available Window Managers. Whenever I try running them I get a message like:
"wmii: fatal: Can't open display," or "Error: Couldn't connect to XServer" (Fluxbox), or "twm: unable to open display" or "dwm: cannot open display" or "Openbox-Message: Failed to open display from the DISPLAY environment variable,". What am I supposed to do? I've checked to see if it was a problem with my installation of Openbox by reinstalling that and installing several other window managers, and I've checked to see if it was a problem with me not having the right kernel modules loaded, but after I ran "hwdetect --load-modules," which is supposed to load all detectable modules, but even after that I still get the same messages. Any ideas, I've tried just about everything that I know\have thought about, so yeah... any ideas?

Boxes wrote:Okay, well I got "xinit openbox" to work by searching for the "intel," "vesa," "fbdev," and "glx" packages via pacman and installing them. I still can't run openbox without xinit, and I tried running "xinit wmii," but it didn't seem to work, although it did run, but I couldn't do anything. It looked exactly the same was as "xinit openbox" did right after I installed "vesa," which was the first package I downloaded and installed via pacman.
tomk wrote:
You need to read a bit more about how X works - you can't run any window manager unless there's a X session for it to run on. That's why xinit works. Set up your ~/.xinitrc correctly and use startx.
xinit wmii ran a wmii session, but I guess you didn't configure it at all - that's why you couldn't do anything. Again, more reading required.Oh, I see. So an X-session is something that's required. Oh, okay.

OpenConnect VPN client suddenly failing -- Failed to open tun device
This started recently on my laptop, when trying to connect to my company's Cisco VPN it simply fails and doesn't provide much information:
Jun 28 08:01:25 winter openconnect[17279]: POST https://vpn.company.net/
Jun 28 08:01:25 winter openconnect[17279]: Attempting to connect to server X.X.X.X

Jun 28 08:01:44 winter openconnect[17279]: CSTP connected. DPD 30, Keepalive 20
Jun 28 08:01:54 winter openconnect[17279]: Failed to open tun device: No such device
I've made sure that the kernel is configured to load the tun device:
[root@localhost log]# zgrep CONFIG_TUN /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_TUN=m
[root@localhost log]#
And beyond this, I cannot seem to find any more information on what's going on. I know that the client is actually connecting, because we use a 2-step auth service that pushes requests to my phone, and I receive the request to authorize the login. It simply cannot start the tunnel. I've checked if the tun module is actually loaded, and it is not:
[root@localhost log]# lsmod | grep -i tun
[root@localhost log]#
But as I understand it, this shouldn't matter, correct? The module should get loaded as needed by userspace applcations? I *believe* this started after I had setup an OpenVPN connection to connect to a client's VPN, but I made sure to uninstall OpenVPN (as it's not required by openconnect) and the issue still continues. OpenConnect works totally fine and connects to my company's VPN without a problem, on my desktop running Arch.
If anyone can shine some light on this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
EDIT: I found a solution, though maybe someone can shine some light on why this works (and what broke in the first place). I basically insmoded the actual .ko file of the tun module:
[root@localhost net]# find /lib/modules/ -iname 'tun.ko.gz'
/lib/modules/3.15.1-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/tun.ko.gz
[root@localhost net]# insmod /lib/modules/3.15.1-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/tun.ko.gz
[root@localhost net]# lsmod | grep tun
tun 20931 0
[root@localhost net]#
After doing this I can connect to the VPN without issue.

Aluratek Libre - "failed to open file"
I have been using my Libre for over a year now with epubs from my public library with no problem. Yesterday I went to move some newly borrowed books over and was asked to authorize my device. So I did - not much choice really. Message says device authorized, I proceeded to move files. When I try to open them on Libre I get File failed to open message on all books from library. My books loaded through calibre work fine. Library books will open through ADE on PC (Windows) from LIbre. I have upgraded firmware on Libre, removed and reinstalled ADE on PC, removed and reauthorized Libre. Problem remains. I downloaded free ebook from Adobe - same issue. Non Adobe DRM files work fine. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Huffington Post App-broke or is it the iPad?
My New iPad was one of the very first, delivered on opening day.
Some of the apps seem flaky. The Huffington Post (latest) is a case in point. Many pages have a "slide show" that fails to work, jamming the app utterly, so deleting and reinstalling it is the only solution.
Nobody else seems to be grumbling about the Huff as a broken app, and the version on my iPhone 4S works like a champ.
I think it's the iPad, but no amount of completely wiping the iPad back to zero in iTunes causes it to behave the way it should.
Is it broke? Do the Genius Bar guys/gals have a bigger hammer than Reset?Try connecting iPad to iTunes and Check For Updates (tap to enlarge image)
