Why is there no pay as you go option now?

What happened to the pay as you go option for BT Vision?
As I find now I dont watch any of the On Demand content on BT Vision now, just use it for the Box Office films.

You get the catch-up services from the major Freeview TV companies. Much as the same as you can get on your PC for free.
That said, PAYG customers can also get iPlayer free on BT Vision, just not the others.
So you get very little for the money.
I think BT realised what a loss PAYG was for them. They were giving the Vision boxes away for free, with no monthly fee and no requirement to watch any particular amount of chargeable TV. They must have got loads of customers like me who hardly ever watch paid for content, but just took the free dial-tuner Freeview recorder.

The situation is as follows: I was using an O2 Pay as You Go but suddenly noticed that it was costing me 14 pence a text which as I am very hard of hearing I prefer to use rather than the telephone. I then saw an advertisement for a BT package offering unlimited texts plus other things for £5.00 a month so I gave that a go. I then discovered that for 90% of the time I was unable to get a signal from my living room where I do most of my texting so I dumped BT and took an O2 package with unlimited texts for £8.50 a month. Having said that I don't understand why I need to be careful about MMS charges if I send what in my lack of knowledge I would refer to as a multi address message. As you can see I'm new to this mobile telephone thing and I really appreciate the help I'm getting from this Forum.

Why are there more contacts on my iOS device now that I turned on iCloud?

I use outlook and know how many contacts I have; I turned on iCloud for contacts and the number of contacts increased by over 300; how do I reconcile? I have over 6k contacts in outlook so not manually?

I have the same issue. there are more photos on my phone than on my computer. my old computer crashed so my new one has no photos at all. i havent synced it yet cause i dont want to lose all my photos. whats weird is that when i plug my phone into my mac, it only shows the pics from the camera roll on the phone. it doesnt show any albums or any of the photos from the "photos' option on the iphone.
im running a 2007 macbook with snow leopard 10.6.8, and an iphone 4s.
here, this is my camera roll, 340 photos. plus all the albums I've created. non of those albums show up to import to iphoto when i plug in the iphone.
and this is from the "photos'' option on the phone
its got photos going back to 2009. way more than the 340 it says i have. but non of those photos show up in iphoto, my computer has ZERO photos on it, and the last computer that did, died and is in the trash. so where are these photos being stored? it doesnt make since to me. and why dont they show up in iphoto for import?

Because many state and municipal tax laws require charging taxes on almost every purchase, downloaded software included. If you wish to complain about this, your complaints will need to be addressed to your legislators. Apple has no choice in the matter.

UK: Pay As You Go?

Is there going to be a Pay As You go option in the UK? Or can i just plug in a P+G o2 sim and have it work?

Just two quick points here
a.) Assuming the iPhone works like it does in the US - when you purchase it in an Apple Store, O2 Store or Carphone Warehouse, they do not 'activate' the phone or sign you up to a contract. You will pay £299 for your iPhone and that phone is yours to keep. You are 'obliged' to sign up a contract but you do not have to do anything else. There may be third party hacks (which may not be a good idea to try!) that will allow you to sync with iTunes without activating or signing up to a contract. You may lack phone functionality
b.) With the US again, it is undocumented that if you fail the credit check, (using social security number 999-999-999-999) they put you onto an AT&T 'GoPlan' which is very similar to Pay As You Go. This wasn't documented in the US and doubt it will be here. If you fail the credit check, then I can't imagine Apple making you return the phone. It'll be something similar on O2 I hope!
Personally, I am already gathering together the money to get one on 9th November but I am not signing up for a contract. I have a BlackBerry on O2 which is in an 18 month contract and I am happy with it. No reason to move but I want the great features of an iPhone! I'll be using it mainly on WiFi anyway. Pay as you go data grandfathered

I have an lg dare from the fall of 08 and the mic is starting to go, not surprised, its just an old phone. I can hear people but all they hear is static, unless I give the thing a good whack...
My question is
- If I buy another lg-dare and activate it/ switch to it ,considering it will most likely be unlocked, will my grandfathered pay as you go still be in effect? Or will I be forced to a 10$ data plan? I have absolutely no use for data and literally have only used it 3 times over the past 3+ years.

Yes, you can activate a Dare without the data plan. You can keep the same Pay as you go option you have now.

I have the iphone 4, with pay as you go 50. month is there a way to purchase web?

i have the i phone 4, but my credit is shot so i have the pay as you go unlimeted talk text and pict sms for 50.00. Im happy with the service ive been with this mobile company for years. I have been using the wi-fi at my house for the phone. T-mobile now offers same price for talk text and web just you have to unlock the phone. Is this a wise choice? At@t leave me no alternative and the rep stated i can go to at@t and ask them to unlock. I am just curios if this is safe for integrity of the drive and is there and setbacks and last will at@t realize soon that they will lose a monthly sale.

They are free to People who have purchased ios devices after a cetain date(September 2013).
Those that have devices purchased before then have to pay.

And films theta aren't available for download but you can purchase in a store like HMV? Apple isn't doing itself any favours by secluding countries by their store. They'd make billions if you could just select the iTunes Store you want to search & purchase from just by signing in! If anything what they're doing is putting themselves into a corner, other companies like Samsung & HTC are already on too of them for innovation & ease of use. The people they're attracting are predominantly existing Apple users not new customers. What do you guys think?

It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell a particular item where the content provider/rights-holder has granted them a license to sell them. Content is licensed by the rights-holders to Apple on a country-by-country basis, each country therefore has to have its own store, and you have to be in a country to use its store - they want control over where their content is available.
You can try requesting that an item be added to the UK store via this page, but unless the rights-holder agrees to then Apple won't be able to sell it here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

The only supported GSM carrier in the US is AT&T. They will not permit the use of pre-paid SIM cards in the iPhone.
You can sign up for monthly post paid service with them and use it just fine (assuming your existing phone is legitimately unlocked).
You can get pre-paid service with T-Mobile or any number of other regional GSM carriers, but not all features of the phone may work properly (or at all).

You change it in iTunes. Go to the iTunes Store. In iTunes 12, click on your name in the toolbar and choose 'Account info'. In previous versions click 'Account' in 'Quick links' on the right. Sign in, and click 'Edit' next to 'Payment information'. Then you can change the card.

Literally have seen this very-much-needed -- and used -- option "promised" for three years now, and even if there's only one or two formats that could be used, at least the option is there.
It seems only way is to link a Macro and tool to Thunderbird and do it that way.

Where was it promised? A quick search of Bugzilla didn't find a functionality request bug report for it.
I assume you're aware that Mozilla stopped development about 2 years ago (just adds security/stability fixes and provides infrastructure) and all new features and bug fixes are now added by the community. They seem pretty tied up with bug fixes and reworking some hard to maintain components such as the MIME support.
Have you tried the Timestamp add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/timestamp/ ? The version at AMO doesn't support versions later than 2.0 so you'd need to do something like install the disable add-on compatibility checks add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/checkcompatibility/?src=ss, and ignore the warning message about Timestamp not being compatible. However, the author has a version at http://extensions.sanjer.nl/?page=tb_ts that supposedly supports up to Thunderbird 11.9.x so it should be "compatible by default as it supports version 5 or later and is not a binary add-on like Lightning or Enigmail.
