Why my minimized JFrame dosen't blink...

Hi,
i m trying to built a small local messenger where i am
opening a new window by clicking on the user name as
like normal messenger...
no my problem is that if the chat window that appears
after clicking on username is mimimized and some
it receives a message from other user as like normal
applications it should indicate the change in its contents
by blinking titlebar..

where can i find this contract?
The posts above are referring to a contact, not contract.  Open your contacts (either from the Contacts icon, or from within the Phone app) and select a person to whom you'd like to Face Time with.  When you open their entry in Contacts, you should see a Face Time option (provided that your country does not restrict Face Time).

  • How to blink the tab of a minimized JFrame?

    Hi,
    I am creating a chat software. When a message comes for a specific jframe, how can we start that minimized jframe to blink. In this way, the user knows that message has arrived.

    you need to use the Frame.setIconImage() method to change the icon.
    in order to flash the icon use something like this (this is for a flashing JLabel, but you can easily change that to flash the icon):
    public class FlashLabel extends JLabel implements Runnable {
        public static final int NORMAL_COLOR = 0,
                                FLASH_COLOR = 1;
        private Color           colors[] = new Color[2];
        private int             well = 500;
        public FlashLabel(String text, int horizontalAlignment) {
            super(text, horizontalAlignment);
            colors[NORMAL_COLOR] = getBackground();
        public void setFlashColor(Color c) {
            colors[FLASH_COLOR] = c;
            setOpaque(true);
        public void startFlashing() {
            Thread t = new Thread(this);
            t.start();
        public void setTime(int t) { well = t; }
        public int getTime() { return well; }
        public void run() {
            int current = 0;
            try {
                while (true) {
                    setBackground(colors[current]);
                    current ^= 1;
                    Thread.currentThread().sleep(well);
            } catch (InterruptedException e) { return; }
    }you could also add a ComponentListener to your frame to get informed if and when your frames gets iconized in order to do the flashing only if the frame really is minimized.

    why is the new firefox constantly blinking on my screen? everything else is fine but firefox now blinks and is unusable in 4.0

    Hi DGuerra, based on a past thread, the missing comments may be related to using avast! and its browser add-on(s).
    Firefox is so easy to customize that it's not really surprising to find differences between two systems. These can relate to the menu choices (orange Firefox button or classic menu bar), toolbar layouts, and of course, add-ons.
    If you have a preference for one setup versus another, hopefully these articles can equalize some of those layout issues:
    * [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]
    * [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]]
    You can compare extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions.
    Perhaps you can get the two side-by-side to make it easier, or to extract a text list, you can use the troubleshooting information page. Either:
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    The button in the upper left corner "Copy text to clipboard" will grab the configuration information from entire page.

  • Plz help, How to blink the tab of a minimized JFrame?

    How it is possible to blink the tab of a minimized window in a chat software, when message is received.
    Karar

    Once the JFrame is minimized and placed in the tray ,then its not in your control.
    If you like to do anything ,then you have to make use of JNI.

  • Why do I often get the blinking yellow?

    I am having a problem understanding why on an irregular (but often) basis, I get the flashing yellow light. It doesn't seem to affect my time machine backups, and my wifi seems to be working just fine when this light is blinking. If I unplug my TC, and plug it back in, my green light comes on, then lasts that way for days. This is a first generation TC, so it has some age on it. BTW, I plug my desktop in to one of the ethernet outlets, but my air and iPhone connect via wifi. Any ideas?

    Well I did indeed need a firmware update. That newest airport utility is way cool:)  Updated, and restarted to Green. My assumption is it solved the problem. I'll keep an eye on it for the near future. Thanks for the suggestion in the other thread!

    In order to avoid detection, the installer will first look for the presence of some antivirus tools and other utilities that might be present on a power user's system, which according to F-Secure include the following:
    /Library/Little Snitch
    /Developer/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode
    /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.app
    /Applications/iAntiVirus/iAntiVirus.app
    /Applications/avast!.app
    /Applications/ClamXav.app
    /Applications/HTTPScoop.app
    /Applications/Packet Peeper.app
    If these tools are found, then the malware deletes itself in an attempt to prevent detection by those who have the means and capability to do so. Many malware programs use this behavior, as was seen in others such as the Tsunami malware bot.

  • Why there is a small black blinking dot got on FLV video??

    I have 11 FLV videos in my captivate file and when i published it  there is a small black blinking dot on all my videos. Does anybody have the same problem? I checked the original videos and the dot is not there.

    I don't have experience with FLV doing that, but that sounds similar to what happens when the slide quality is not high enough to support the graphic objects on a slide.
    Have you tried increasing the image quality for the slides with video to 'high' or 'optimized?'

    Search the net for examples and/or explanations of "inheritance vs composition.
    For the role of a contentPane, read the API for interface RootPaneContainer and class JRootPane. The second named API also has a link to the Swing tutorial on How to Use Root Panes.

  • Why did the Download Manager stop blinking for new downloads?

    With 3.6 when I used to start a new download and I had more than one Firefox window open and the pages were stacked on my Win XP taskbar the Firefox tab would light up and blink when my new download started. It was easy to know when the download had actually started instead of having to go look at the download window to verify it. This is gone in 4.0. Anyway to get it back or is this just another problem with 4.0 that I have to suck up and accept? There are so many things wrong with this version!

  • Why we extends JFrame class in java

    Hello Java Developers,
    I am new to Java & Currently I am trying my hands on Java Swings.
    I wrote a very simple program in Java to display a JFrame on screen. My code is as follows:
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class JavaFrame {
    public static void main(String args[]){
    JFrame frame = new JFrame();
    frame.setTitle("My Frame");
    frame.setSize(400, 150);
    frame.setLocation(300, 300);
    frame.setVisible(true);
    frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    I saw some examples on internet & they are extending "JFrame" in their every example. I want to know what is the benefit of this ??? here is code:
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class JavaFrame extends JFrame {
    public static void main(String args[]){
    JFrame frame = new JFrame();
    frame.setTitle("My Frame");
    frame.setSize(400, 150);
    frame.setLocation(300, 300);
    frame.setVisible(true);
    frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    My second question is what is the meaning of line "frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);"
    frame - This object of class created by me.
    setDefaultCloseOperation() - This is predefined method in JFrame class.
    JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE - what is the meaning of this ??

    I saw in JFrame API as you suggested & I found that
    EXIT_ON_CLOSE is an "public static final" method.Look again. It's not a method.
    final: this mehod must be executed
    am I right ???No. final means that the value cannot be reassigned.

  • Why does my Flash Drive always blink?

    I may be paranoid, but it seems only lately that my flash drive is always blinking when I have it plugged into one of my ports of my four port Belkin that I have plugged into the rear port of my Mac. It's like it is constantly being accessed even when I close out the spread sheet (numbers) files that I was using and even when I close out the main list of directories on the drive.  It still blinks.  Then when I try to eject it, a message pops up that it won't eject because it is used by numbers.  So in frustration and paranoia I just pull the flash drive out of the socket, since I suspect that something in my computer out of my control is reading it. I close out the files and directories by clicking on the red close dots in the upper left.  Am I doing the closing wrong?
    Thanks for any help even if it's condescending.

    Pressing the red button at the top left hand corner of the application window will not completely quit the application, therefore the application is still accessing your flash drive without you even using that application. If you go to the apple logo at the top left hand corner of the desktop and go to force quit, you will see applications that are currently running in the background on your mac. Now, if you have "numbers" opened, go to application folder in Finder, click on numbers and go to the top left corner of the Status bar at the top. You will see "Numbers" next to the Apple Logo, click on that and press quit. Utilize this method for all applications.

  • Minimized JFrame window to front

    Hi,
    I having some trouble trying... to bring my frame to the front
    I have a frame( frame1) and a button when clicked opens one more frame ( frame2).
    I always want to make sure that only one frame2 window is open .. so i keep and check and when the button is clicked if frame2 is not opened then open a new instance .. else bring the existing window to Front.
    Now toFront works properly if the frame is open and have some other windows open on top for frame2 ... when i click the button it comes to front... but when I minimize the frame2 window and then i hit the button again .. it doesn't come to the front. I want to make sure that the frame2 window comes back up .. even if it is minimized ...
    Any help would be appreciated ... thanks in advance
    sandsouza

    Only works in 1.5 but
    setAlwaysOnTop
    public final void setAlwaysOnTop(boolean alwaysOnTop)
    throws SecurityExceptionChanges the always-on-top window state. An always-on-top window is a window that stays above all other windows except maybe other always-on-top windows. If there are several always-on-top windows the order in which they stay relative to each other is not specified and is platform dependent.
    This will force your window to be always on top of all other windows.

    This is a sensor related to Siri "Raise to speak" function.  It causes excessive battery drain because is always blinking.  Getting it turned off requires. setting 'raise to speak' off, and then doing  a hard reset.
    See manual for hard reset.
