Why no DSO for SD transaction data

Hi Friends,
As you know that we dont have standard DSO for loaidng data for the 0SD_C03 (Sales: Overview)  and 0SD_C05 (Offers/Orders) from R/3 system. As the functianality of the cube is additive, How we can manage transaction data with these cube without DSO.
Means when we lode transaction data we generally use DSO, if we have chances to he recprds can be chnaged in the future.
1.Why we load direclty for Sales data without, is there any funcatinality which manages changes for the sales records.
2.Why SAP has'nt given standard DSO for the above said cubes.
3.Do we have to create DSO for the above siad cubes
Thanks & Rgards,
Revathi

Hi Revathi
It is definitely possible to manage the changes in the transaction data even if there is no DSO for the Cubes that you have mentioned.
Even though the cubes have 'additive' mode of updating the key figures they have been providing correct results for all sales documents (including sales return / sales credit / order credit ) and for all key figures. isnt it ?
However, to answer your queries :
1.Why we load direclty for Sales data without, is there any funcatinality which manages changes for the sales records.
The functionality that manages the changes for sales records is through the extractors for the above cubes which send related data to the Cube. IF the data sent was incorrect or if the functionality was not managing the changing correctly then it is obvious that we all would have got wrong results. But that's not the case. you could check this yourself for some test orders and invoices and see how the data gets transferred in these cubes. You could add - decrease - remove quantities or even line items and see the correct results.
2.Why SAP has'nt given standard DSO for the above said cubes.
It is not necessary to have a DSO for every cube. Most of the Sales reports are analytical and the need for DSO would be depending on the implementation. If we need detailed analysis then DSO is a good idea. and Does providing DSO help or reduce our workload in any way ? No !!! Imagine the time that would be elapsed in transferring data into the DSO, activating the DSO and then transferring data into the Cube. There are 6 datasources in 0SD_C03. Is it worthwhile to get them into a DSO (if there isn't any need) and spend time on overheads which could be avoided ?
3.Do we have to create DSO for the above siad cubes
Depends purely on your requirement. Yes. You can create a DSO in between the data source and the Cube as a first layer of data store. But please be informed that you need to be very careful and your DSO updates would also depend heavily on the update mode for each of the extractor. It is not necessary that you would be able to use 'overwrite' mode of update for the DSO's (I am still not able to understand when you say that 'additive' mode doesnt help in managing the changes !!!.)
Cheers
Umesh

    Hi,
Pl use RPR_TRIP_HEADER_DATA programme for getting general trip data, which will have details about number of KM travelled by employee for each trip, amount to reimbursed to the employee etc.

  • Why do we need DSO for G/L Data?

    Hello Experts,
In G/L all transactions are associated with a Document number. If there are any reversals it will create new document no.
If I have document no. in the cube why do we need to use DSO for FI-GL extraction?
    Thank you
    Sree

FI-GL Extractors deliver only after image of delta , DSO will generate the before and after image if any changes to the documents .
Thats way we need staging DSO for FI extractors ..

  • Need Help for Non Transactional Data

    Hi,
I need your help for getting the non-transactional data. I am looking for some solution where I can have employee list with both transaction and non transaction along with the measure in the report.
    Thanks in advance.

Looks like you either want a procedure with OUT parameters, or to return a record (which you'd need to declare somewhere that your function and calling procedure can both see)

  • ALE Configuration for Transactional Data (Purchase Order)

    Dear Experts,
I want to configure ALE for Purchase Orders(Transactional Data).
    For that:
I have done neccessary Condition  Records at NACE with necessary Output Type Configuration. Configured Port and Partner Profile with Message Types: ORDERS and ORDECHG (as Outbound Parametrs) .Assigned those Message Types against defined Sender and the Receiver at Customer Distribution Model . Configured Port and Partner Profile at the Receiver System also.
    Now I have 2 queries.
    i) Is this much of ALE configuration is enough for Transactional Data for communication between 2 systems or I have to do something more?
ii) For Master Data we configure Change Pointer(we can see field assignments against Change Document Object at BD52 for Master Data Messaage Types) . Is it necessary to configure Change Pointer for Transactional Data or it will autometically handled by the system(field assignments cannot be seen against Change Document Objects at BD52 for Transactional Data Messaage Types)?
    Regards
    Arnab

    Hi kumar,
what Alexander  said is absolutely correct .
from your second question no master data distribution configuration is required for the transactional data distribution.

    and
    Transaction data
    3)Open PR
    4)Open PO
    5)Stock Posting
Can we use LSMW for all these?
Or which one is recommended for each one of them...
Whether BDC or LSMW recommended ?
    Kindly suggest...

  • BPC:NW - Best practices to load Transaction data from ECC to BW

I have a very basic question for loading GL transaction data into BPC for variety of purposes, would be great if you can point me towards best practices/standard ways of making such interfaces.
    1. For Planning
When we are doing the planning for cost center expenses and need to make variance reports against the budgets, what would be the source Infocube/DSO for loading the data from ECC via BW, if the application is -
    YTD entry mode:
    Periodic entry mode:
What difference it makes to use 0FI_GL_12 data source or using 0FIGL_C10 cube or 0FLGL_O14 or 0FIGL_D40 DSOs.
Based on the data entry mode of planning application, what is the best way to make use of 0balance or debit_credit key figures on the BI side.
    2. For consolidation:
Since we need to have trading partner, what are the best practices for loading the actual data from ECC.
What are the typical mappings to be maintained for movement type with flow dimensions.
I have seen multiple threads with different responses but I am looking for the best practices and what scenarios you are using to load such transactions from OLTP system. I will really appreciate if you can provide some functional insight in such scenarios.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Issue in Datasource creation Transaction data

    Hi,
While creating the Datasource for the Transaction Data , we have info objects custom defined with length NUMC & length4 , but when in the proposal tab when saying the Load example data the data type and length are changing to INT2 and 5 like wise in fields tab also
why is this happening. Pls help.
    Regards,
    Sruthi

    Hi Sruthi,
This is normal when you create data sources. The system generally looks at the field values and decides its data type and length.
If you do not want this data type and length to be taken, what you can do is go to the fields tab, there it will prompt you with a message 'Copy fields from propsal' or someting like this, you click on 'No'. Instead in the fields tab you will find a column Info object, just write the technical name of the info object and press enter. This will take the data type and lenght of your info object.
    Hope this helps.
    thanks,
    rahul

  • Need more Info about "Load transactional data when master data not loaded"

    Hi,
Can you please explain me this option in the infopackage " Load transactional data when master data is not loaded"....
Say i load a transactional data record which has a material no. AAAXX.
In the fact table, the material no. is replaced with the corresp. DIM ID.
Now, assume that there is no entry for this Material no.
AAAXX in the master data table...so no DIM ID for it..
How is it then stored in the fact table ?
Hope i have managed to explain the scenario..
    Thanks in advance,
    Punkuj

    Hello Punkuj K,
    How r u ?
No, if the entry for that Material Number "AAAXX" is not there in the Master Data then it will create a SIDs & DIMs ID for that & Transaction Data will be loaded.
    Use
Choose this indicator if you want to always update the data, even if no master data for the navigation attributes of the loaded records exists. The master data is generated from the loaded transaction data. The system draws SIDs. You can subsequently load the master data.
    Dependencies
The texts, attributes, and hierarchies are not recognized by the system. Load the texts / attributes / hierarchies for the corresponding InfoObjects separately.
This function corresponds to the update. Possible errors when reading the master data into the update rules are not associated with this indicator.
    Recommendation
We recommended loading the master data into the productive systems in advance. Select this indicator especially in test systems.
    Best Regards....
