Width property won't bind to a value

OK, I have some (seemingly) simple data binding that's giving
me warnings when I compile... I have a custom component and an
HBox... I simply want the HBox's width to be whatever the width of
the component is...
<mx:HBox width="{comp.width}" ... > ...
</mx:HBox>
<my:component id="comp" .../>
I do not declare a width for the component in the
instantiation, nor in the declaration... Flex determines it by the
width of all its sub-components... Anyway, when I compile, it's
saying, "Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to
'width'." Am I missing something simple here...? Is it just because
of the order I insert them (component after HBox)...? I don't think
that should affect it... Someone help me out please!

Why this Error comes "ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into

I'm using Oracle 9.2 with Weblogic 8 server. After Googling i got to resolve this issue "ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column" by adding : oracle.jdbc.RetainV9LongBindBehavior=true in server properties for the datasource.
But why did this error come and after keeping the above property why did this error go away ?
Can anyone help me on this.....

You have an error in the code:
1. you don't provide a value for 'what' - you have to tell Oracle what it should execute when it submits the job.
And remember - with ISUBMIT the next_date parameter has datatype VARCHAR2 - SUBMIT uses datatype DATE. So make sure you provide a VARCHAR2 value and do not rely on implicit conversion.

How to bind internal table values with RootUIElement(Table) from select Que

What I understood from your coding is...
* navigate from <CONTEXT> to <NODE_FLIGHT> via lead selection
Node_Node_Flight = wd_Context->get_Child_Node( Name = IF_VIEW1=>wdctx_Node_Flight ).
You are reading values from the above node and binding the values to the same node.Am i right?
Did you take seperate context node for your input fields or binded the above context to the fields.If not then read the context attribute values which are binded to the carrid and connid then pass these values to select query.
One more thing is select cardinality 1..n for node NODE_FLIGHT since you are displaying more than one record.
Go through the some basic tutorials.Search in sdn you will it get.Already there is a tutorial in sdn which explains exactly what do you require.

With an EAV mapping most (I would even say all) jpa annotations are ignored. In this case (afaics) the xsd element has
minOccurs=1 (the default). This means that for ecore (and Teneo) it is a mandatory feature which must have a value. The
EAVSingleEAttributeValueHolder.mandatoryValue field is used to enforce required/mandatory constraints.
So in this case it can be solved by adding minOccurs="0" to the xsd element.

ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column in 11.2

Hello,
We have been getting the following exception when we try to save an XML (>5k).
SQL state [72000]; error code [1461]; ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
This is occurring only for Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0)
Our column is CLOB type, not LONG type.
Could anyone please suggest what could be the reason and fix?

How to fill or bind data using Value Node in Tree Node

Hi Gurus,
Can anybody help me on how to fill data or bind data using Value Node in Tree Node View. I know how to create Tree Node but not able to show value on the UI in Tree View.

ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG colu

Hello - I have a variable defined in a package as VARCHAR2(32720). This is not a table column. I am building a string inside the vairable, loading in invoice data in sections one at a time. It seems that once I get a larger number of invoices (say 100+) to load in, I get the "ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column" error. I am not trying to insert into a table column; just stringing together data in this large variable.
Why would I be getting this error ? And is there a workaround ? The variable is read back out iin 80 byte strings which are then loaded to a table column that is varchar2(80).

I am trying to create a report but get a ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column error. I am a fairley new to Apex and my SQL skills are far from expert level. I have 3 groups we will call 'A' 'B' 'C'. 'A' is the best group 'B' is the next best and 'C' is the lowest group. Let say there are 5 people they all want to be in group A but where they are placed is based on their audition score and the users selection.
Joe score is 50
Beth 40
John 30
Ken 20
Sally 10
The user selects that he wants 2 people in group 'A' and 1 in group 'B' and 2 in group C. The SQL needs to rank Joe and Beth in Group A. John in group 'B' and Ken and Sally in group 'C'. The user does this type of selection for about 15 different instrument groups to make up group (band) for 'A', 'B', and 'C'.
Here is what I have come up with that gives me the error mention above when creating a report but works in SQL developer. There is probably a far better way to write this than what I have. I am open to suggestions. Band 'A' SQL example is for all instruments. SQL's for 'B' and 'C' are just a samples of the whole thing.

...<tt>':P6_YEAR'</tt> is a literal string, not a bind variable reference. <tt>':P6_YEAR'</tt> seems an unlikely value for <tt>festival_year</tt> and <tt>year</tt> values. It should be:

Furthermore, this is a long piece of SQL. It may be that APEX can't cope with the length. However it's also very repetitive: we see the same SQL pattern repeated many times and UNIONed together. One way to reduce the length of the query would be to replace some (or all) of those repeating patterns. This will not only make the query more APEX-friendly, but it will probably be more efficient and easier to maintain too.
I recommend that you Re: 2. How do I ask a question on the forums? that will enable others to have a go at this. Reproducing the app on apex.oracle.com and posting guest developer credentials would also be helpful.

Weird exception in 12c (ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column)

I have a Windows app that accesses an Oracle 12c database via ODBC (the driver version is 12.01.00.01).
I have a table that has a key column named REGION_ID (NVARCHAR2(9)), and about a dozen other columns, three of which are named REGION1, REGION2, and REGION3, all of type NVARCHAR2(40).
When I try to insert a string into the REGION1 field that's greater than 9 characters (the length of REGION_ID), I get an ORA-01461 error ('Can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column). If I define the length of REGION_ID to be NVARCHAR2(15), then I can add strings to the REGION1 field with a length up to 15 before I get the ORA-01461 exception again. Oddly, if I change the REGION1 column name to REGIONONE, I do not get any errors, and everything works fine. It's almost as if the column name REGION1 is being confused with REGION_ID behind the scenes.
Any ideas? I’m using SQLBindParameter to bind the columns, and all of the calls succeed. I get the exception when I execute the insert statement. This same code worked for previous versions of Oracle (11g, 10g, and 9i). And if I use an 11g client driver against the 12c server, I do not get the exception.

Web Part Not Re-sizing Based on Width Property

I have a SP 2010 publishing site with a custom master page, using the Body Only page layout. I inserted a discussion board web part in the page content section of the page. When I go into the standard web part properties and try to set an absolute
width (in pixels), the web part itself does not squeeze down to this size. Instead, the web part content stays the same size, and some other div involved gets the width applied and covers up the web part content (sounds confusing, see image below for
example).
I tried this on a site with no master page and a web part zone, and it the web part content itself resized, which is what I was hoping to see above. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Does the web part need to be in an actual web part zone in
order to resize? Or is this all just a problem with my custom master/styles? I suspect it may be the latter, but I'm not sure how much control I have to fix it. Anyway, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Image samples below
to illustrate the issue.
IMAGE 1: See how "Last Updated" is cut off at the end? This was set to 600 pixels. The web part content doesn't resize.
IMAGE 2: This was set to 500 pixels in a traditional web part zone on a page with no custom master. The content resizes as expected.

I would use the Internet Explorer Developer tools to inspect the page and the styles being applied to the webpart. That will give you a clear understanding of what styles are being applied to your webpart (and the HTML that the webpart renders).
You can then use an HTML Form webpart (or attach a stylesheet) to apply CSS styles to override the width property and any other styles that require changing, in order to get the webpart to display correctly for your given width.

APEX 4.0.1 ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG col

Hello,
I tried to use the "Database Object Dependencies" in the "Utilties"-section to get an idea of what objects are used in a application. But I got the following error:
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
The application consists of 100+ pages and uses abt. 10 schemas. I'm using APEX 4.0.1 on a 10.2.0.4 DB.
Doing this on a small application there are no errors.
Any hint would be welcome to solve this error.

ODBC - Bind int 64 value (Oracle 10g)

I have a problem, since that in a documentation given on http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b15658/app_odbc.htm
sais that SQL_C_UBIGINT and SQL_C_SBIGINT identifiers are not supported, is there any ather way to bind int 64 value to my prepared statement?
For examle I trying to write number 1162040854047621120 in to my column which is type NUMBER(38, 0), I can not find nowhere example with prepared statement, which constants I need to pass SQLBindParameter function?

Well, here's what I'd check anyway..
1) get Process Explorer from http://sysinternals.com
2) make a mysql connection, get a list of dll's loaded (include the location and version columns in the lower pane output)
3) close that, then make an ora odbc connection, get a list of dlls.
4) close that, then make a mysql connection followed by an ora odbc connection, get a list of dlls
5) compare the lists of loaded dlls. In particular, the difference between #3 and #4, is there a dll dependency that gets loaded by oracle's odbc that comes from a different location when you've opened a mysql connection first?
May or may not help, but might turn up a difference to help point you in a direction.

Errors in Transaction SHMA - Binding has invalid value

I'm trying to create a shared memory area in transaction SHMA
I entered the area name and the root class name and just kept all the default values. When I do a syntax check I get 2 major errors 1. Binding has invalid value, and 2. Synchronization has invalid value.
I don't see any settings for these attributes - has anybody seen this before?

I don't understand what you mean. The syntax check is only about abap code, so?
In fact, what class are you talking about? Is it the root class, or the generated class corresponding to the handling of the shared memory area (the one with the same name as the area)?
Here are tips to understand the relationships between the area and related ABAP classes:
Create area Z_MY_AREA via transaction SHMA, choose a ZCL_MY_DATA root class name (must either exist or it can be created manually within SHMA; it must have attribute "SHARED-MEMORY ENABLED")
You must define in this ZCL_MY_DATA class at least one instance attribute
When you save the area, SAP creates automatically a class with the same name as the area (Z_MY_AREA), which inherits CL_SHM_AREA (which itself inherits CL_ABAP_MEMORY_AREA), and with an attribute named "ROOT" type ref to ZCL_MY_DATA

Binding a boolean value to a Checkbox in Dashcode

I can't seem to bind a boolean value in my JSON model to a checkbox in Dashcode. I can create the binding, and it shows up properly in the datasource and in the bindings inspector for the checkbox part, but if I launch the application through the simulator, or if I save the project, the binding disappears.
To reproduce:
1. create an empty (custom) web application project.
2. Drag a checkbox part onto the canvas.
3. Create a datasource with the JSON model:
doit: "false"
4. Load the datasource, and drag a binding from the doit boolean field to the checkbox. The binding is created. Save the project. The binding is gone.
Anyone else seen this? What am I doing wrong?

The issue is that you can not direct insert more than 4K (as you have discovered). Two methods I use in this situation are:
1) sql statement or procedure that returns a lob locator into an ODP.NET OracleBlob parameter such as:
insert into the_table (primary_key, blob_column) values (pk_value, empty_blob()) returning blob_column into :blob_parameter.
Once you have the OracleBlob you should be able to write/update the data.
2) use an anonymous pl/sql block or package that uses the dbms_lob supplied package to work with the LOB.
Here is a simple console example...
