will application.getRealpath() api work across all webapplication servers?? i have checked it with tomcat and it works...wil the same work with websphere and other app servers???
can u otherwise give me an alternative to access the same ....quick reply is required....please help

It includes a caveat in the [javadoc itself|http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/ServletContext.html#getRealPath(java.lang.String)]
The method can return null in certain cases.
The servlet specification section SRV.4.5:
In situations where the servlet container cannot determine a valid file path for
these methods, such as when the Web application is executed from an archive, on
a remote file system not accessible locally, or in a database, these methods must
return null.
So the methods may return null. Particularly if you do not "explode" the WAR.
If you are just loading resources from your web app, then I would recommend using getResourceAsStream which will work in some cases where getRealPath doesn't.

It is not possible to "toggle back and forth" at will. If you associate a device with an Apple ID and you have iTunes Match enabled you must wait 90 days before you can associate it with another Apple ID. See this Apple KB article for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

UPDATED APPLICATIONS ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL !!!! HELP PLEASE ?s

i have a number of applications which have been working great since i installed them. yesterday my iphone 3g told me that 8 of my applications had updates available. i went to the app store on the phone and one by one chose to update the applications, from the phone. I sat by the phone, which was hooked up to my mac book, and watched as each application added a new icon to the phone, seemed to install the new app., and then deleted the old icon.
When i went to check out the latest updates I found NONE of my updates work at all !
Programs include airhockey, facemelter, 1password, ibeer and reMovem.
When I try to start ANY of these new updated programs the screen changes, to the start screen for the program, for about 3-5 seconds, then reverts back to the home screen for the phone.
I did back the programs up to my laptop. then deleted some programs and reinstalled from the laptop. STILL DOES NOT WORK. I am afraid to delete 1password because I spent hours entering passwords from my blackberry password program and do not want to lose all my data by deleting the program.
HAS ANYONE ELSE ENCOUNTERED THIS, AND DO YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS?????

Yes, there is a work around by doing a forced restore to a "new iPhone", and manually synching the apps, one by one. You still can't update or delete any of them without going through this again. The only real fix will be from Apple - hopefully in 2.1 which is rumored to be released later today...
If you read though these threads, you'll find some really excellent posts that will remind you of a 5 year old when he finds out that his new Batman suit doesn't make him fly.

Will FCE 3.5 Work On All Forthcoming Intel Processors?

With the next incarnation of the iMac likely to be powered by a Merom processor rather than a Core Duo, this little doubt popped into my mind.
I feel sure that UB applications will work well on all new Mac/Intel chips introduced in the next few years, but can someone actually confirm that will be the case?
I assume that all the new chips coming along will be UB-friendly?

you should have no trouble running FCE 3.5.1 on a MacBook. i run FCS2, except for Color on mine w/ no issues. more RAM may allow for more video tracks, FX, etc...

Why is zoom widget not working across all browsers? How get answer?

It works as advertised in IE and FF. It doesn't do a thing in Opera, and in Safari it loads in a different position than that specified in code, and is 'stuck' in only being able to zoom the top layer of images; the zoom will not move freely around the entire image.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Also, does anyone know of other 'forums' where an answer might be sought? After our initial posting -and responses- as to how to get the widget to work in the first place, we posted this latest problem over 24 hours ago but not received a reply.

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

They should, but you will need a VGA to DVI adaptor. I thank that adaptor ships with the mini.

Database connection not working across all Adobe programs

I have a PDF form connected to an Access database via ODBC. On the form, I created a button that, when clicked, takes the data in the PDF and adds it to the database. The scripts for that action and the connection was established in LiveCycle Designer. I opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro and enabled Usage Rights for Reader (overwriting the file in the process). Here's what I find odd. The button works fine in Acrobat Pro, but when I open the PDF in Reader and try the button, it gives me an error saying that the accessor 'xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.open();' is unknown. Why on earth would Adobe recognize the connection in Acrobat but not in Reader? That doesn't make sense to me, especially since I did enable the usage rights.

I do not see where this permission is given in the enablement of Acrobat Professional Forms. What I see is the following:
- Save form data
- Commenting and drawing mark-up tools
- Sign an existing signature field
- Digitally sign the documen anywher on the page (only supported in Adobe Reader 8.0)
I do not see connect to a database anywhere.

The magically returns back to me the DNS servers when I didn't even set my provider URL. I did a little Google search and came across this from Sun's website:
"The host and port indicate the DNS server to use. If only a host is given, the port defaults to 53; if only a port is given, the host defaults to "localhost". If neither is given, the provider will attempt to determine and use the server(s) configured for the underlying platform, and if successful, will set the java.naming.provider.url property to a space-separated list of URLs constructed using the server(s). (For example, on Solaris or Linux, the provider will read the /etc/resolv.conf file.) If DNS has not been configured on the underlying platform, the host and port default to "localhost" and 53."
I am running this code on windows XP. What is the mechanism by which it is determining the DNS? Am I guaranteed that whenever I don't set the URL for the DNS it will always try and locate one? And lastly, will the above code work on all JRE's (IBM's, BEA's) ? I know I am setting the initial context to com.sun.jndi.dns.DnsContextFactory, what would it be for BEA and IBM?

AS I understand your question, after you migrate to V6 you want all the controls in your 5.1 application to have the new 3D look and be consistent....
There is no tool that automatically goes through all your code and converts one control to another. However, depending on how you developed your code, the process might not be too bad. The key issue is the extent to which you utilized typedefs.
If you change the look of all you typedefs, the strict ones will change right away to the new look. For the regular typedefs, you'll need to have all the VIs in you application in memory at once.
Now, open the non-strict typedef and change it to the new 3D controls, and save it as a strict typedef. At this point all the instances will update. Finally reopen the typ
edef and change it back to a non-strict and save it again.
Having said all this, the process I outlined above will can take a bunch of memory (and time) depending upon how big your application is... but it will work.
As far as the nontypedef controls in your application--you're on your own...

User working across multiple domians remotely

Hi
I am after some advice.
I support multiple schools and have a few members of staff that work across all sites. The schools all have their own domain and the users need to access data at both sites. I am wondering how anyone else has allowed staff to do this in the past?
Is configuring RDS at both sites the best solution for this?

Undo Shortcut not working across CC

I have a fully updated version of CC running on Mountain Lion and today the Undo shortcut (Command + Z) doesn't want to work. I can go up to the menu and go Edit > Undo, but I'd rather not!
Does anyone know what the issue might be? It's not working across all my Adobe CC applications (Ps, Ai, Id, Dw, etc).
I have refreshed the settings on Photoshop (Command + Option + Control + Shift) on startup and that didn't help.
I appreciate any assistance.

Incase this helps someone, somewhere, it ended up being that my keyboard wasn't working.
I tested it in MS Word, and it didn't work there.
Reset the RAM on my iMac, didn't help.
Ended up being that the z key worked fine and the command key worked fine, but the combination of the two at once didn't work.
Solution was by trying another keyboard.
6 hours I'll never see again.

I have this set up with one Mac and two iPhones (Not Multiple Macs)
I added the Apple ID to the Mac for iMessages.
I then added the Apple ID to the first iPhone.
I accepted the pop ups on the Mac so that the iPhone was Listed in Receive At (you might have to Restart the App on the Mac to trigger this).
I then added the Apple ID to the Second iPhone and again accepted the pop ups in the Mac.
IF this is what you think you did but it is not working remove the Apple ID from both iPhones
Place the iPhones in Airplane mode fro a few minutes to Break with the server.
when back in normal mode and in Settings > Messages check the iPhone number is ticked and active.
(Send a Test message to the Apple ID (Mac) to check)
Add back the Apple ID if the test works.
Restart the Mac version to trigger the pop ups and Accept.
Repeat the set up with tests for send iPhone.
I have never set this up with one ID on two or more computers but it should work.
