Will Kodo EJB3 support SQL queries standard?

Hello,
Will Kodo EJB3 support SQL queries (via
EntityManager.createNativeQuery(...))
in the Standard Edition since native queries are part of the API? Or will
that functionality require Enterprise Edition or Performance Pack?
thanks and good luck in the new year,
dave

Currently, SQL queries require the enterprise edition. Whether this
will change for Kodo 4 final has not been decided. The safest route
would be to assume that it will not change.

  • SQL Server Standard Edition with Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise

    Hi there,
I need some help figuring out what will be the ideal SQL Server Standard Edition that can run all features for SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition. I ordered CAL licenses for a Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise Server (Supports 500 users). Now I need to find out
if it is worth upgrading SQL server to the following:
Upgrade to SQL Server Standard R2 2012 or upgrade to SQL Server Standard 2014? Basically, I am looking for the pros and cons?
    -Esteban
Microsoft manager to programmer: You start coding. I'll go find out what they want ...

    Hello,
PowerPivot for SharePoint is a feature available only if SQL Server Enterprise Edition and Business Intelligence Edition is used. Reporting Services of SQL Server Standard has also some limitations that will impact SharePoint 2013.
Additionally, SQL Server Standard Edition do not offer AlwaysON, database snapshots and online index rebuild.
To me, the biggest difference between SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition is that SQL 2014 Standard now supports 128 GB of RAM. SQL Server 2012 Standard is limited to 64 GB.

    Hope this helps.

  • Get rid of SQL Server Standard by attaching disk to another VM?

I created a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM on azure.  Somehow, it got created with an image that supports SQL Server Standard.  I don't need this support and it's very expensive.  I was told by a billing support person that I would need to delete
the image to get rid of the charge.
However, I already have my users and programs setup on this VM.  I don't want to have to delete it and setup the entire VM again.
Is it possible to delete the current VM, but attach the hard disk to another VM.  Would I be able to get rid of the SQL Server Standard charge this way?

Try to rebuild the VM, this will need downtime.
Delete the VM and choose to keep the attached virtual hard disks.
Then recreate the VM from VHD.
Use this for example. Choose Windows Server 2008 R2 as an operating system.
    https://www.cloudtec.ch/blog/tech/create-virtual-machine-vhd-in-azure.html
Deploy your VM then attach the data disks.
Do not forget to uninstall SQL server

  • Does a Hyper-V VM running SQL 2014 Standard Edition support Hot Add Memory?

    According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956893
This was the case with SQL 2012 Standard Edition when running in a Hyper-V VM:
Q7: Is Hyper-V Dynamic Memory supported for SQL Server?
A7: Hyper-V Dynamic Memory is fully supported with SQL Server. Only SQL Server versions and editions that support Hot Add Memory (Enterprise and Datacenter) can see memory that is added by using Hyper-V Dynamic Memory. SQL Server 2012 Standard
edition also recognizes Hot Add memory when running in a virtual enviroment. SQL Server versions that do not support Hot Add Memory are still supported. But these versions will detect only the memory that is present in the operating system when SQL Server
    starts.
I setup SQL 2014 Standard Edition in a VM and set it to Dynamic Memory, and just realized that Standard Edition does not support Hot Add Memory.  However, this support article contradicts that, but only mentions SQL 2012.
Is anyone aware of the real answer to this question?  I just need to know how to configure the memory for my VM to make it run optimally.

    > just realized that Standard Edition does not support Hot Add Memory.  However, this support article contradicts that, but only mentions SQL 2012.
It would not have been removed in SQL 2014.  So proceed accordingly.

  • When will Attunity SSIS connector support SQL Server 2014?

When will Microsoft be releasing updates to the SSIS Attunity Connector for Oracle, to support SQL Server 2014?
Here's the link to the previous version released by Microsoft, for SQL Server 2012:
    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=29283
These are not compatible with SQL Server 2014, as described here:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/8a6ded27-8f6e-4957-82e3-18b26ee46817/action?threadDisplayName=attunity-ssis-connector-support-for-sql-server-2014
I have multiple clients holding off on SQL Server 2014 upgrades until this issue is resolved.

I think you are muddying the issue.  Attunity themselves have not produced the last 2 versions of these components - they have been distributed by Microsoft e.g. the first link from my initial question.
The Attunity Development Manager has already posted a response on their own forum to a similar question stating that "The decision and timeframe in which the connectors will be released for SQL Server 2014 are at Microsoft's discretion and cannot provide
    more information at this time."
    http://www.attunity.com/forums/microsoft-ssis-oracle-connector/attunity-ssis-connector-support-sql-server-2963.html
So I want a response from Microsoft, stating when they will be addressing this.

    Dear all,
can't find any information about supported SQL Servers for SCCM 2012 R2.
We are completing the testing phase of SCCM 2012 SP1, but we are not happy about keeping its databases on SQL 2008R2.
Moving DBs to SQL 2012 AAG will significantly simplify our DR plan for SCCM.

  • SQL queries parser.

    Hello,
I have quite strange question related to my research.
Probabley within Oracle DB there is some dynamic library which is parsing SQL queries,
    for example.
SELECT * FROM schema.table which is able to extract informations from SQL listed above that we want to display all columns from selected table.
When this construction is valid ( SQL standard ) the next step is verification the object existence in DB. It means
that there are two separated actions which are analyzing queries.
I need only first part of that process, which will give me informations about all object used in SQL query
is it possible to accomodate that internal parser witin stand alone middleware like Weblogic Event Server ?
I can do it with regular expression patters, but it's not going to be fast and effective for subqueries and all advanced
constructions for DHW like MODEL, etc.
    Thank You,
    R.

    >
The best place to store the queries, and HOW to store them depends on your architecture and on how your application is being used.
Is this a single-user application on a user's pc? Or is your application located on an application server in the middle-tier?
The queries should be stored where they will be used. Your queries should be stored in the tier where your application code will reside. On the client PC for a single-user app, on the application server for a 3-tier app and incorporated into stored procedures/functions/packages if part of a database app.
If your application is totally external to the database (e.g. a reporting app) then it doesn't make sense for you to become part of the database architecture. An org isn't going to let you create objects in the database to store your queries when your queries are not part of the database application. That puts the burden on them to backup your objects, restore them for your and provide support to you and your application.
What format to store the queries in is a different issue. A major criteria is the type of queries you are using and how they are used. Many apps that query the database cannot just use hard-coded queries that are never modified. Users need to be able to provide parameters (e.g. name, ID, state, etc) to select just the data that they want.
That means the base query itself may not even be valid syntax but needs to have a WHERE clause added. Prepared statements and queries that use bind variables ('WHERE ID = ?') are typically used for these.
One method of storage is to use Java property files that use name=value pairs. Using property files makes it easy to use Java to find a query by name and load it for you. Then your code would have functionality to modify the query to provide the parameter 'bind' values and execute it.
There are also frameworks available for handling database related functionality. There is no need for you to write your own libraries for this. I suggest you locate a suitable framework to use.

  • Gtksql pkgbuild. Simple GUI for sql queries.

This is simple program for running sql queries. I made this pkgbuild some time ago but I'm not sure how much it is good. Gtksql should support both mysql and postgresql but postgresql support is broken (probably to old). Developer promises a brand new gtk2 based application. We will see...

    Hello:
I'm trying to do add a calculated variable to my view that isn't an Entity
Attribute, its simple really but i don't know if I'm leaving something out or
    not.
I add the "new Attribute" , call it nCompleted, type - number
I then check off everything as is required(as documented in Help)
for an Sql Derived Attribute, the following code is entered in the
    Expression Box :
    Select group_services.office, count(client_group_services.clnt_group_services_id) as nCompleted
    Where group_services_id=client_group_services_id(+)
    And client_group_services_id.result="Completed";
It isn't working, what am I missing???? Sheena:
It probably isn't working because of missing 'group by' clause. I don't know the exact detail of your query statement, but suppose you want to count number of employees in a dept, then you're query should look like:
    select dept.deptno, dept.dname, count(emp.empno) as nCount
       from dept, emp where dept.deptno = emp.deptno(+)
       group by dept.deptno, dept.dname  // This group-by is important
OR if you want to use nested SELECT
    select dept.deptno, dept.dname,
(select count(emp.empno) from emp where dept.deptno=emp.deptno(+)) as nCount
       from dept

  • Datasource for SQL Queries

    Hi,
SQL Server best practices indicates the use of Windows Authentication instead of Mixed Mode.
In this case, if you need to create reports that connect to the database, you need to add the users accessing the data source to the sql server security.
For reports that show error logs and table contents do you create a specific domain account for SQL queries and then specify it on the data source?
    Thank you

    Hi Pedro,
A report server uses credentials to connect to external data sources that provide content to reports or recipient information to a data-driven subscription. You can specify credentials that use Windows Authentication, database authentication, no authentication,
or custom authentication. When sending a connection request over the network, the report server will either impersonate a user account or the unattended execution account. For more information about the security context under which a connection request is
    made, see
Data Source Configuration and Network Connections further on in this topic.
The network environment determines the kinds of connections you can support. By default, when you create an datasoource the credential is "Windows Authentication(Windows integrated security)", as you know, the user must has permission to the server
    and database.
Each user must have a Windows account. It can be a local account (i.e., an account on the report server) or a trusted domain account. The account must be added as an allowed user to the report server either individually or as part of a group. Furthermore,
the client application must support Windows integrated security.
More details information please reference to below article:
Understanding SQL Server Reporting Services Authentication
Specify Credential and Connection Information for Report Data Sources

  • Generating XML from SQL queries and saving to a xml file?

    Hi there,
I was wondering if somebody could help with regards to the following:
Generating XML from SQL queries and saving to a xml file?
We want to have a stored procedure(PL/SQL) that accepts an order number as an input parameter(the procedure
is accessed by our software on the client machine).
Using this order number we do a couple of SQL queries.
My first question: What would be our best option to convert the result of the
    queries to xml?
Second Question: Once the XML has been generated, how do we save that XML to a file?
(The XML file is going to be saved on the file system of the server that
    the database is running on.)
Now our procedure will also have a output parameter which returns the filename to us. eg. Order1001.xml
Our software on the client machine will then ftp this XML file(based on the output parameter[filename]) to
    the client hard drive.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you,
    Francois

  • Information on how to run SQL queries on the CUCM itself please

    Good Day All,
I need to run an sql query on the CUCM to list all of my directory numbers, their partition, and their external mask values.
I came across this excerpt below earlier so I have a bit of an idea how to do it but iw would be great to see some other examples of sql queries.
    Any assistance is most appreciated.
Also, is there a document somewhere to tell me how to run these queries?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Re: Is there a way of pulling a report off CM showing all phones that have diverts on?
Try if running this SQL query from the CLI helps you, it should list all DN's that have CFA enabled to VM or a DN:
    run sql select dnorpattern,cfadestination,cfavoicemailenabled from CallForwardDynamic c, numplan n where c.fknumplan = n.pkid and (cfadestination != '' or cfavoicemailenabled ='t')

    Hi Amanda
Basically it's standard SQL, so it wouldn't hurt to google 'informix select statements' and do a little reading to get the basics. There are millions of permutations of queries so it's a matter of understanding the syntax, and then applying that to the database in question. The only difference when running commands from the CLI are that:
    - You prefix the standard informix SQL statement with 'run sql'
    - You don't get any help from CUCM with the syntax, so you might be well advised to use something that understands SQL a little and colorises it as you type, and then paste the resulting commands into the CUCM SSH window. I use a text editor named JEdit, if you create a text file and save it as a file ending in .sql it will highlight your syntax.
    - Other programs are available that do reasonable syntax highlighting (e.q. SquirrelSQL) that are designed for querying the DB directly, but you can't actually query directly against the DB for security reasons. You'd still have to copy/paste the commands.
Now... to understand the DB you'll need a reference describing all the tables etc. This is here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_programming_reference_guides_list.html
Pick your version of CUCM and download the 'Data Definition' document.
A few notes on the command:
run sql : is just the CLI command that tells the shell to run the following text as SQL.
select : the SQL command to retrieve data
dnorpattern, cfadestination, cfavoicemailenabled : the column names to retrieve
callforwarddynamic c, numplan n : the names of two tables, and the abbreviations you want to refer to them as
where c.fknumplan = n.pkid : this tells SQL to return values from the two tables where these fields match up. In the data definition you'll see notes that c.fknumplan (i.e. the fknumplan column in the callforwarddynamic table, as noted by the c. prefix) refers to the PKID column in the numplan field. This is a very standard type of join in the CCM DB.
and (cfadestination != '' or cfavoicemailenabled ='t') : another clause, basically in this query we want to see only rows where cfadestination isn't blank or cfavoicefmailenabled is set to 't' for true).
Most tables are linked in one of two ways in this database:
    - a column prefixed 'fk' refers to the pkid field (there is always only one pkid field per table) in the table following the 'fk' prefix. E.g. above fknumplan refers to the numplan table, pkid field. fkdevice would refer to the device table, pkid field.
    - a column prefiex 'tk' refers usually to an enum table which is prefixed with 'type'. This is a table that maps the number value in the 'tk' field to a string. An example would be tkmodel - this represents the phone physical model type (e.g. 7962), and maps to a table called typemodel, and the 'enum' column in that table.
