Will SP1 take more time to install if we have more databases and/or larger databases ?

We are preparing to install SP1 (CU4 ?) for Exchange 2013 (e2013) on our production system.
We have done that in our test system.
The production system has more databases and more mailboxes and data in each database, than the test system.
Seems like we read someplace that SP1 has an update to the "database schema" (in addition to the AD Schema update).
Thought that this database work might require extra time.
Will the SP1 install run longer because of the larger and more numerous databases ?

If the answer is "yes", then...
I understand all the mailboxes would be "offline".
But that does not really answer my question.
Just for an example, if they are simply adding one new attribute to the schema, that is probably done in the "schema master", and assuming that field is "null" for all current data, no other work needs to be done, regardless of the number of databases or
the size (or the number of mailboxes).
But let's say that new attribute needs to be "set" based on something in the data, and if it is "per database", that could have an impact, or if it was "per message", ...many messages to evaluate...etc.
I thought maybe some people had real-life experience and would base the answer on what they saw.

I've a Macally external fire/usb enclosure that powers up and mounts directly on to my PB Aluminum 1.67 laptop but the USB portion doesn't draw power.
Do you mean it mounts and works OK when connected via FireWire, but not when connected via USB? If so, that's unsurprising. I would be surprised to hear that it doesn't mount when you use the FireWire connnection, because most drives are able to get enough power from that port.
Does MacAlly not offer a cable for your drive that allows it to draw power from both your USB ports? Some manufacturers of external drives or enclosures do offer such a cable, and it's well worth buying because it's much smaller and more portable than an AC adapter. Have a look at this one from Western Digital — it might fill the bill for you.

I have also recently purchased a Rocksmith RealTone Cable to connect my guitar. I can sometimes get a sound come out, but nothing to brilliant. And every time I try to set something up, it just doesn't seem to work out. I end up hitting buttons and controls in the simple hope that I may hit the correct control in order to get some sort of result. But I'm kind of fumbling in the dark with this. I have trawled the Internet just trying to find either a good manual or video tutorials for absolute beginners, but there just simply doesn't seem to be anything of that nature out there and what there is appears always to be very sketchy and not particularly detailed in explaining anything properly, and so I always find myself seemingly jumping in with both feet and just struggling to try and find a foothold with this on how to really begin. It is so frustrating as I can see the fantastic potential of this software, but just can't understand how to use it properly. If there is anyone out there who may be able to offer me some advice with this, I would be most grateful indeed... Many Thanks.

Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

Security updates takes long time to install through Software Center

Hi Folks,
We have a setup with SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 as a Primary Site server where SUP also enabled. I deployed the windows security updates to the test servers collection by deployment type as Available.
I verified in test servers that all the deployed security updates are listed under Software Center client, but when I checked all the updates and tried to install. it is taking long time to install . Most of the time the updates are in “waiting to install”
status and finally ends up in failed state with error codes 0xc80003f3, 0x8007000e. Have verified all the logs windowsupdate.log, Updatesdeployment.log, WUHandler.log are points to the same error code. Found that multiple SVChost.exe process consumes more
memory during patching process.
However we have enough physical memory(2 GB) and page memory( Min 2 GB to Max 4 GB) configured on the servers (Windows 2012 R2 SP1) . Need some guidance in further troubleshooting...

Most of the servers managed by me today are having anywhere 2 - 4 GB RAM installed. How do one install the security patches through SCCM with this configuration?. Selecting more than 4 patches at the same time to install does gives memory errors.
I would suggest 4GB RAM for a modern Server OS e.g. WS2012R2 is simply too little memory.

IMac will not take Tiger or Leopard Install discs

I have a 17'' iMac with 2GHz Intel Core 2Duo Processor running on 10.4.11 Tiger. I have tried installing 10.5 Leopard onto the mac but it won't accept the disc. It spins for 30 seconds or so then spits it out. I was initially trying to upgrade because I lost the Bluetooth App from the computer (it can't be found in finder and does nothing when clicked on from top right of screen. I can send to the computer but not from it). When the Leopard disc didn't work, I tried putting in the Tiger 10.4.7 discs I received with the computer.. The mac won't even accept that disc, it spins for about 30 seconds then spits it out.
The computer is accepting and reading CD's and DVD movies (legit ones, haven't tried with any copies) but won't take the Mac discs.
Is there anything I can do to make the computer accept the Leopard disc so I can update it? Or is there something I can download to get my bluetooth App back?
Help would be much appreciated, I'm useless with computers.

If cleaning the optical drive as suggested by use of a retail clean disc
that would try and clean the lens of the laser used to read/write to the
media the drive can normally access, and it does not help, you may
have to take the computer in to a shop and have someone test and
check the computer's optical drive.
An upgrade to a newer OS X system will not fix an issue in the hardware
nor would it necessarily fix some other issue in the software in the Mac.
But when a computer has a problem in one OS X system, it is better to
see about fixing the issue in that OS X version since an upgrade is not
intended to repair some miscellaneous problem which may have been
caused by user error, some other defect (perhaps hardware) or a disk
corruption that could happen if a user overloads the computer's hard disk
drive (stored files you save to the computer) since that can affect the
whole operating system of the computer, if the internal hard disk drive is
overfull of saved content.
So, there could be more going on that just the first symptom(s) you note.
And when things start acting up, the computer does create log files and
keeps some error messages and crash files, among others, of minor to
major issues along with routine files of the normal actions of the System.
Someone experienced in how that works, and how to read the Console
utility's logs, could read through them for some clues about that matter.
An upgrade to 10.5 over the ailing 10.4 system in your computer is not
recommended at this time; because by itself, the problem may persist.
The actual upgrade at some other time, may be best performed with the
idea of making a clean fresh install from scratch with no parts of Tiger
10.4.11 in the hard drive at all. But the best paths available are open to
a knowledgeable user who knows more about the easy ways to do this.
A tech may be able to figure out what is going on, but most repair shops
won't be liable for any content on the hard disk drive; and some cures to
a larger problem may include a reinstall of the existing system, so your
old files would appear in the hard disk drive inside a "previous" system file.
Anyway, here is an Apple Support document with an outline of the path for:

Although you may not need to reinstall 10.4 (via archive & install, then update)
to fix the issue you mention; and an upgrade to 10.5 may only add several
layers of additional difficulty, if it works, before you can use Leopard 10.5.
Leopard would need to be updated to 10.5.8 (combo) and security updates;
among others, before you could start using it. A problem in all that, may be
the computer's hard disk drive may be too full to do all of these things; so it
would be wise to see about getting the optical drive to work then try to create
an off-computer archive of your own files. This would be better done to an
external hard disk drive capable of supporting a complete copy/clone of the
entire computer's hard drive contents; a bootable backup.
The use of a "clone utility" would facilitate making such a bootable backup.
A free-running app to do this, by the name Carbon Copy Cloner, is downloadable.
The previously mentioned utility of interest to get bits of the OS X installer to work
for you, short of having to re-install the whole OS X, would be the one by the name
Pacifist, by Charlesoft; it will run as a demo freely and completely to do the task of
extracting the correct (choosen) file from the Installer Disc and putting only the few
chosen files into the computer, in the right place; and that could fix some problems.
The Mac OS X invites user interest in maintenance and most aspects of it
are superior to other systems by decades of intended creative design. So,
if you find time to become technically interested in the upkeep of your Mac
these forums and the main Apple Support pages (searchable database) are
good places to start.
However things work out...

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt. If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

Safari 5.1.9 and Java 6 are the latest versions available for OS X 10.6.8. To upgrade any further you would need to upgrade to Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.4) through the Mac App Store.

Hello, I have a MBP (mid 12 model), a brand new MBA (mid 13), and Mac Mini, four laptop PCs and 2 more Desktop PCs (I have teenage daughters and my wife)...
I intend for one of the PC's to be a "server" I have a large library that certainly does not fit on the MBA, or the MBP. To share the library the client has to be authorized.
I am currently using all of my authorizations... is there a way to get more? (I can't move content to another account I am assuming...)

"You can authorize up to five computers with your Apple ID." I have not heard of a way to get more. They probably set up a limit so people don't go around and authorize all their friends' and relatives' computers to one account, and somehow arrived at the number 5 to limit (probably because most families won't have more than one computer per person and 2 parents + 2.5 children rounds up to 5).

I have lost more than 500 bookmarks.. i have X marks and synchronizing feature

I have rescued 500 + bookmarks another 500 have gone awol and i know this cause i saw a brief message saying i had lost them. Unfortunately i lost that remark but obviously firefox has admitted that there are more. How do i find them all now?

If your bookmarks are still missing, even after restarting the computer, the bookmarks file may have been damaged or the contents deleted. Firefox automatically makes a bookmark backup every day you use it (up to 5 backups total), with newer backups replacing the older copies. If you use the profile, you must act quickly, before they are all overwritten.
However, there are other reasons why your bookmarks may be missing, so it is important that you follow all of these steps:
# Mozilla browsers store user data in a separate place for each user account on your computer. Make sure you are logged on to your computer with your usual logon name.
# Mozilla browsers allow you to store different sets of bookmarks and other user data in separate profiles. You may have created a new profile in the past for troubleshooting or other reasons. Make sure you are using the correct profile (see Multiple profiles and profile in use, below).
# If the Bookmarks Toolbar is completely missing from Firefox, make sure that "Bookmarks Toolbar" has a checkmark in the "View -> Toolbars" menu and that the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" icon appears on the toolbar when you open the Customize Toolbar window (see below).
# If bookmarks appear in the Bookmarks Manager but not in the main menu, and they can't be edited, try the fix for a corrupt localstore.rdf file, given below.

Go to bookmarks up the top the select "Unsorted Bookmarks"
Then from there got Import Export then select Restore. Choose a day!

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

1 more time: I installed Samsung 840EVO SSD and tried to clone the OEM drive to it. Disk Utility shows all files landed in the new SSD thru the USB to SATA converter cable yet my Mac won't boot. Why's that?

The question is why won't my Mac boot with the new 840EVO SSD that I thought I'd successfully cloned all contents from the OEM hard drive by using a USB to SATA converter cable. Disk Utility seemed to indicate the SSD had captured everything from the OEM drive. Note the OEM had 2 partitions to run Parallels Windows XP

XP is not supported externally or if you install Mavericks, and Microsoft is trying their hardest t o get people off that old tin can, rightly so.
Usually Carbon Copy Cloner will. Usally. DU is not really meant to and you had 4 partitions before.
This forum is not for MacBook Pro btw.
Cloning with DU or CCC may do a perfect job but not be bootable if t he interface or case is not.
The EVO is capable of 500MB/sec so even your mid-2010 MBP is not going to get the top performance but should be better once you swap it out than what you were using.
