Will syncing books delete my songs, tv, and movies?

I bought some PDFs in my iTunes library. I have an iPad that isn't set to syncronize anything with iTunes. I want to put my PDFs onto the iPad, but when I select the iPad, go to Books, and check the Sync box, it asks me this:
"Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPad “Owner's iPad” will be removed."
Am I reading that right???

You can manually sync the shows, by just selecting them in the movie library window and dragging them to your iPTs icon, in the left column. I never auto sync. I manually control content that goes on my iPT.
You can also manually delete content from your iPT as well, by just selecting your the folder with the content that you would like to delete and then highlight those titles that you want to erase and select your delete key on your keyboard.

Syncing books deletes music

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
When I try syncing books with my iPad, I get this message:
"Are you sure you want to sync books? All songs, movies and TV shows on the iPad will be removed."
Currently, I have "Manually manage music and videos" checked.
So now if I try to sync books, all the music I have on my iPad gets deleted and the the check besides manually managing music is removed.
Is there a way around this?
It's frustrating for me that when I purchase a book through my iPad and want to sync it with my MacBook Pro (so I can create a backup for it when I want), if I sync to my iTunes, that I'll lose my music all over again.
Any help on this is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

An iPhone reset is similar to a computer restart, and the answer is no with a reset.
When restoring an iPhone with iTunes, the iPhone is completed erased first including iOS. After iOS is reinstalled, you are prompted to restore from an available backup for your iPhone. If you are backing your iPhone up locally on your computer with iTunes, iTunes updates the iPhone's backup as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
Regardless if there is an iPhone backup available, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer and/or there are a number of free email accounts that support syncing contacts and other data over the air including a free Apple iCloud account. You don't have to worry about your contacts being included with your iPhone's backup when doing so.
Photos and videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera epecially immediately before restoring the iPhone with iTunes and before installing an iOS update.

How can i sync email deletions on my iPhone and iMac, and vice versa?

My email provider is Sky in the UK. While i am able to receive the same emails on both devices (imac and iphone) simultaneously, if I delete one on the iphone, it is not deleted on the iMac, and vice versa. I don't want to have to delete emails twice, once on each machine, but rather only once on one machine (and then that email would automatically disappear from the inbox of the other machine).
Is this possible? My sky account is IMAP on the Iphone, but POP on the IMAC. I tried changing it to IMAP on the iMac, but then i couldn't received email messages in MAIL on the iMac so reverted it back to a POP account.
Any advice appreciated. Spent way too many hours today trying to figure this out.

if it were imap on both, you'd be able to delete an email from one device and it would remove it from the other. they can't have different protocols and still sync with each other

Just make sure you are selecting the gmail address as the place to create the event. Otherwise it will only be saved to the phone.
For example, my Gmail/Google calendar currently syncs between the PC/Web, android phone backup android phone and two tablets.

My ipod touch will not shuffle through the songs. It just plays the same song over and over. All that shows at the top is the info picture. How do I fix this?

Do this:
Play a song.
Tap the screen once so you see the scrubber.
To the left of the scrubber, there's a set of two arrows going in a circle - if it's blue, it's set to repeat.
Click on it once to make it white - no repeat.

By 'no memory' may I assume you are out of space on your hard drive?
Obviously you can delete them one by one, but this is tedious and will take a long time and you wish to do this quickly and efficiently.
This is my suggestion and it may not be worth a lot:
If all of your duplicates have a unique characteristic common to them that the originals do not, this MIGHT work. For example if you make a duplicate of an image, it will have the same title as the original, but will insert the word 'copy' in its' title. (It should do some thing similar with movie clips).
Go to Spotlight in System Preferences. Click on Privacy (near the top of the pane) and then the + sign (near the lower left hand corner). This will result in a drop down menu. Select all the places you do not want Spotlight to search. You should leave only Music and Movies unless you have pictures/movie clips in other places.
Enter into spotlight the unique characteristic (ie; copy) and it should (I hope) list all your duplicates. Perform a Select All, and put them in Trash.
Otherwise do them one by one or write an Apple Script Program.
If my convoluted idea does not work, perhaps you will be lucky and a more savvy person with a real solution will come forth!

Use Windows Migration Assistant to copy all your user date to the MacBook.

Using Home Sharing will transdfer the media files, but not the entire library (ratings, date added, artwork, playlists, etc.)

I have a pc at work, and I want to download apps and podcasts using work wifi. I cannot use wifi on my personal phone at work. I do not want to sysnce my personal iTunes library to my work phone. I have authorized my work pc. However, I cannot drag and drop podcasts nor applications from the pc to my iPhone 4 with the latest iOS. Any ideas?

OK, so my real issue is syncing podcasts. I set the iTunes to not automatically auto sync (edit/preferences/devices - prevent iPhone from syncing automatically), and synced my phone with the office laptop. As expected, it deleted all my podcasts on my iPhone. That is OK, I can get them back from my home pc.
But, I cannot drag and drop podcasts from the office laptop to my iphone. I do not understand this behavior. Syncing works, but I like to drag and drop as it provides more flexibility.
Ideas on what I am doing wrong?
