Windows 2012 Remote Access Log

Hello,
is there a setting or configuration in Windows Server 2012 which excludes some sort of "grey Clock+Date screen" asking for Ctrl+Alt+Del for sign in, when accessing in the Server via Remote Access?
Actually this screen appears, and it is not receiving my Ctrl+Alt+Del remotely, so I can't sign in...
Thank you!!

  • Windows 2012 remote access

    Hi!
I am planning on deploying a new environment which needs both VPN and Remote Desktop Services. VPN will be used for computers that are part AD, Remote Desktop Services for access from computers not a part of AD - dont want those unknown computers on the same LAN as the servers :)
Question is - is it safe to deploy these two roles on the same server, or should they be kept separate?
how have you set up your remote access? any good tips?

  • Routing and remote access logging to SQL server

    Hi!
I am in the process of trying to set up SQL logging from routing and remote access on a windows server 2003 to another windows server 2003 which is running microsoft SQL server 2005.
What i did was i created a database named RRAS in the sql server and in routing and remote access i went under remote access logging and configured it, when i press "test connection" it says its successful. and when i check the local logfile i successfully
configured i can see my connection attempts towards the RRAS. but in the sql database there's nothing, no tables or anything.
I am sure i have the right permissions going on since i have only been using one account for everything so far(created the rras and the sql database), the SQL server is operational(it has a myriad of other databases that are used on a dailybasis).
So i am wondering what component is missing? do i need to create the tables manually, is there a guide that tells me how to do that?

    Hi Plindgren,
    Thanks for posting here.
May in know which fields we’ve created for this table ?

    Hi,
    Thank you for the post.
As far as I understand, ISATAP is not recommended for use as the IPv6 to IPv4 transition technology in DirectAccess in Windows Server 2012. With ISATAP disabled DirectAccess clients can initiate connections to computers
on the internal network, and the computers on the internal network are able to respond. However, computers on the internal network will not be able to initiate connections to DirectAccess for purposes of remote client management. If you want to be able to
remote client management, consider deploying native IPv6 for management servers that will connect to DirectAccess client computers.

  • Routing and Remote Access Logs (Windows Server 2008 R2)

    Hi,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running Routing and Remote access and users are using PPTP VPN's to connect to our network.
I have been asked to find logs for the following for connections in to our server
    Username used for connection
    Computer Name
IP Address used by computer connecting
    Start/End time of VPN session
    Date
    Encryption used
I found an article stating to enable RRAS logs you need to run the following command
To enable RAS logs run command “netsh ras set tracing * enabled” and found a series of logs created in this location C:\Windows\tracing
None appear to contain the information I am looking for and was wondering if I was doing this correctly and if not how I am meant to extract this information?
If you require any more details just let me know.
    Kind Regards
    David

    Hi,
I can’t sure which article you have read, but fur the 2008R2 the RAS to enable the log and the debug log in the KB is descried like this, I recommend you to try the KB
    mentioned method.
To configure RRAS to enable logging
    1. Start Server Manager. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.
    2. In the navigation tree, expand Roles, and then expand Network Policy and Access Services.
    3. Right-click Routing and Remote Access, and then click Properties.
    4. On the Logging tab, select Log errors only, Log errors and warnings, or Log all events, depending on how much information you want to capture.
    5. Click OK to save your changes.
    The related KB:
RRAS: Logging should be enabled on the RRAS server

  • Windows 2012 Remote desktop session host server not detecting RD licensing server

    Hi,
We have a customer server which is Windows 2012. We installed RDS session host server role and configured it to use RD licensing server as per the
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839?wa=wsignin1.0
After configuring, when I open RD license diagonser tool, it says, RD license server is not available. Also shows, credential not available. When I enter the credential by clicking, provide credentials, it does not get applied. I see no event logs related
to RD service. However, I see the below event log which points to RD licensing server.
DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <RD license server> using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID     273c (C:\Windows\system32\mmc.exe).
Please help in fixing the issue.
    Thanks,
    Umesh

    Hi Umesh,
    Thanks for your comment.
During your configuration, have you specified RD License server for RDSH to use?
You can also specify a license server for the RD Session Host server to use by applying the Group Policy under below path.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Licensing
Use the specified Remote Desktop license servers – Provide the FQDN of the license servers to use
Also this setting can be specified by below method.
To configure the license server on RDSH/RDVH:
    $obj = gwmi -namespace "Root/CIMV2/TerminalServices" Win32_TerminalServiceSetting
    $obj.SetSpecifiedLicenseServerList("License.contoso.com")
Note “License” is the name of the License Server in the environment
To verify the license server configuration on RDSH/RDVH:
    $obj = gwmi -namespace "Root/CIMV2/TerminalServices" Win32_TerminalServiceSetting
    $obj.GetSpecifiedLicenseServerList()

  • Windows 2012 R2 - Access problems to NFS shares via IPv6

    Hello,
we setup some NFS shares on HNAS storage box. The connection to this storage is only possible over IPv6 network.
My server with Windows 2012 R2 has the feature 'Client for NFS' installed and a 'showmount -e servername/or IPv6 address' works. I can see all shares when i try to open the storagebox in Windows Explorer with the command "\\servername" or "\\IPv6
    address", too.
My problem is, when I try to mount the share via "Map network drive" or "mount \\servername\sharename *" I get Error 53 - Network path not found.
The share is configured that every server in the IPv6 subnet could access it and it works on Unix machines, but not on Windows.
It does not matter if i set some option parameters for the "mount" command like sec=sys or anon, everytime error 53.
I don't know, if the share needs special options for Windows. I hope somebody can help.
    Kind regards

it takes a while and then the error "\\fe08--babe-face-cafe-dead.ipv6-literal.net\share is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. ..." appears.  Of this action a recorded the trace.
Another way I tried is to open command line an type "mount \\fe08--babe-face-cafe-dead.ipv6-literal.net\share *". After this an error 53 occurs immediately without any wait time.

  • Anyconnect is not able to run with windows routing & remote access service

I am unable to connect with the new Anyconnect VPN installation when it tries to connect, it raises an alert that says, "The Windows Routing and Remote Access service is not compatible with the VPN client. The VPN client cannot operate when this service is running."
I have a Dell system laptop, OS is XP SP2 with all the latest Windows updates up to SP2. My internet connection is DSL modem. Internet hardware is an
external adapter connected to my USB port. The adapter is controlled by the Routing and Remote Access service mentioned in the alert message.
Can anyone help me how we can solve this issue. I appreciate the help and currently some of the users can not connect to my network who works from home.
    Thanks
    Chandru

I believe that Chandru's concern is in his statement that his DSL modem is controlled by the RAS service.
I agree with Andrew that Chandru probably does not need the RAS enabled. I have used several Dell laptop running XP and connected to DSL just fine without needing RAS. If there is some aspect of how the laptop is configured that results in needing RAS for the modem then perhaps Chandru can clarify this for us.

  • Windows Vista Remote Access Unresponsive

I have a friend in another state who is VERY inexperienced with PCs.  She has Verizon DSL using the Westell D90-327W15-06 wireless router.  Whenever she requests my help (remote access invitation), I get an error saying that she may have closed the invitation.  The Windows firewall is off.  I tried having her shut down the Norton Personal firewall.  I tried talking her through the port forwarding for 3389, however her software seems much different from the software described in the router manual.  I still think her router is the culprit, because I once had this working when I had my laptop connected through her router when I was visiting her.  We both have Dell Inspiron laptops with Windows Vista.  Any suggestions?
    Kitty
P.S. She tried calling Verizon support, but her inexperience coupled with the support person's accent made it useless.  He couldn't understand the question and she couldn't understand the answer.
Message Edited by kittyliz on 10-14-2008 07:27 PM

Thanks for the response. I have read the threads and have
googled for more leads. I am getting two different responses
between Access 2000 and Access 2003. In 2000 It displays the help
properly but the Index/Search tabs contain content from Access 2000
help, not MyProject.chm. The correct window help is displayed from
MyProject.chm. In Access 2003 it does not display the
TOC/Search/Index tabs. The Access 2000 behavior is explained in one
of the links provided. The workaround is to provide a hook for the
F1 key and call the Helpfile manually. They provided the code and
it is also provide in Microsoft MKSB 271390. I have created the
Autokey macro to hook F1 and call the custom function, but the
application seems to be ignoring the F1 key hook to the Autokey
macro. The reason that I know this is because I put a pause in the
start of the function and it never gets there. Any other ideas that
    I can try?
    Thanks,

  • How can a Windows user remotely access their Home folder on a MacOSX Server

I have a staff member who would like to remotely access (ourside of our LAN) their Home folder on our Mac OSX server. Anyone know and willing to share the process?
    Thanks

    Hi Brad!
Generally, a VPN solution is best to allow someone access to your company network. VPN provides security and access to some or all of your company's network resources.
If AFP is allowed to pass through the VPN tunnel, then your user would connect via VPN first and then connect to the server with a connect string such as "afp://servername".
Or if your user's home folder is also shared as a Windows share, your user could connect via VPN first and then connect to the server with a connect string such as "smb://servername".
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Ix4-300d : Remote access logging / unknown user / invalid login attempt

From time to time a customer of mine is seeing invalid login tries in the log ( mostly 'admin', 'Administrator', but also unconfigured names like 'grigor'?.
Is there any chance to determine, whether these login attempts (until now not successfull because 'non-common' passwords are used) come from inside or via <my-cloud>.mylenovoemc.com from outside?

It should not put too much strain on the device, but it would make the dump log a bit longer. If you just got a dump report from the device without detailed logging should be able to get an IP address of the invalid attempt, so it may not be necessary to turn on detailed logging if you can get an IP address. Although if it is someone attempting to hack into the system, they are probably hiding their IP address anyway. Do they have a firewall on their network that could provide information about the source of the attempted login?

  • Setting Up Remote Desktop Services Windows 2012 DMZ

    Hi
I'm new to the Windows 2012 RDS. I am trying to figure out some things.
I have an application that I would like to publish to the outside world to our customers.
Im thinking of using Windows 2012 remote desktop services and publish the app via web browser. So users go to the URL and see the application.
Do I need a client brooker and gateway server for this setup? or can i simply deploy a web access server on the dmz which then connects to my remote session host server inside?

    Hi,
To allow outside access into your RDS environment you would need to use the RD Gateway role. This can be configured on the same box as your RD Web Access role if resources are limited.
The RD Gateway role uses ether TCP 443 or UDP 3391 depending on what you have chosen to configure. You need to create a port forwarding rule from and to the gateway box using 443.
Have a look at the following articles:

This should assit with the configuration.
