WL 6.1 jsp null pointer problem

Under heavy load during our load testing, I am seeing an intermittment error.
 Turns out, after serving 1.5 million requests, the stack trace is thrown about
 200-300 times.
 This is funny, because a null pointer would be evident in every request.
 If anyone has seen this or has any ideas, please let me know.
 The session timeout is configured for 2 minutes for the testing.
 20 users using JMeter were thrown at the application which is a jsp page that
 includes 4 other jsp pages
 all reading data from the controller servlet by use of a helper and a delegate.
 This uses Local interfaces.

Null pointer problems. Need help

I have a class that scrolls text across the screen. the class is a Jpanel and uses a thread to produce a scroller effect. The panel is created and called in the constructor and uses a String Array.
This application is now a client and its server sends over a new String array as an object to the client uses stream sockets. I wish to use this new Server string array but since no array exists until it connects i suppse thats the reason im getting null pointer exceptions.
What can i do to solve this problem?

Do you get a stack trace printed to the console window? Look at the stack trace. It tells you in which line of your source code the NullPointerException occurred. Go to that place in your source code and find out what happens. Fix the problem in the source code.

ViewDocument.jsp gets null pointer exception when using report token instead of docid for DHTML

The following command gets a null pointer error showing up in Tomcat log:../../viewers/cdz_adv/viewDocument.jsp?sEntry=<%=strEntry%>&lang=en&iDocID=830&ViewType=I&kind=Webiwhere sEntry is a valid report token but works fine if the ViewType is H or id=830 is used instead of sEntry. When the above command is issued the drill columns are displayed correctly but no report is shown and a null pointer exception is encountered.

I had opened the connection statement before getting these parameter values.Think I ws getting null pointer exception due to this.Now I have opened connection after getting these parameter values...anyway am not getting the exception now...

Problem in getEelementById() method-null pointer exception

Hi All,
I am using DocumentBuilder factory for parsing a xml file.
I am getting the document object and also creating an element in
the root element .And also I am setting the element id for the
element as attiribute .I need to select the element having same ID
using getElementById() method .But it is giving null pointer
exception.
N.B: My parsing file contains dtd declaration and root element.
My sample code look like this;

while creating xml you should mention which attribute is ID attribute using
setIDAttribute() method,
as you are setting "ID" attribute as ID so
after adding Id attribute to the root element
use setIDAttribute("ID",true);
then getElementById will return the element by using ID

Null pointer exception in jsp ,data missing in chat application

I have a chat application in jsp using ajax.I have opened a d/b connection in a jsp which is called each time I sent a message.But sometimes I get null pointer exception in this page when msgs are sent so fast...also I miss some of the msgs I sent....I can't avoid that connection ther..When I commented all those d/b connection statements...everything is working fine..Please suggest me any solution...

Null Pointer and cache problem

Simple program...reads 4 images from html and prints them on the page. That all works, but when observing the java console, a "Null Pointer Exception" error pops up after a while. I believe it has something to do with the cache. Is there any way you can see to avoid this error showing in the java console? What in tarnation could be causing this?

Those database defaults are only applied when you use an INSERT statement that specifies a list of columns excluding the ones with defaults. Presumably your persistence code always sets all columns when it does an INSERT, so the defaults won't apply. You'll have to find the way to set the defaults in the persistence layer, not in the database.

JRC (upg. to CR4E) - Report w Subreport - Oracle DB - Null Pointer Excepti

We have a Crystal Designer/Developer Version 11.5.10.1263. We develop reports using this.
Most of the reports have SQL Command mode design with JNDI/JDBC connection. It gets deployed with our Web application. And during runtime, when users access these reports from our web application, we typically use Java Reporting Component with Crystal Report Viewer SDK to open and display the report to the user.
Besides other issues, current problem I am having is:
I have a sub-report in my report. I am connecting to Oracle database. If this sub-report does not return any rows, I was getting a Null Pointer Exception. This seems to be a known bug. This happened to us when we had just the above mentioned components.
We recently upgraded just the JAR libraries to the ones packaged in CR4E (Crystal Reports For Eclipse) - initially to get more exporting capability.This upgrade gets us past the Null Pointer Exception issue.
Now, I am getting an error like "Unexpected database connector error". Please see the exception stack trace below if needed. Since we are a product and this display is specific to one out of about 100 different clients; with all the time we spent on making this report stuff work against this oracle DB client, we had finally ended up creating the display in JSP into our general product just for one of about 100 clients. Client must be the Lucky one...As a developer, I felt really frustrated.
One note:- SQL Server DB works perfect.
Other thing - Do we need to change any API calls after upgrading the JARS from standard JRC/Viewer to CR4E package?

I have exactly the same problem. Had posted it on the forum last week, but haven't received any response yet. I just file a single support case ($195) with SAP. If I hear anything useful back, will keep you posted. Please let me know if you are able to resolve the problem.
In my case, I can get my report to work with a single subreport. When I put multiple subreports, I get the same error as you are currently getting.
Check if your report has any special section formatting (conditional suppression etc). Try to remove those to see if it helps at all.

Null pointer in setTableLocation for a report based on a stored procedure

im using the crjavahelper class and setTableLocation to change the datasource of a stored procedure based report and its throwing a null pointer exception somewhere in the sdk. This is happening with sqljdbc4.jar and sql2005 and jdk 1.6.

any ideas? I tried using the jtds driver and it doesnt throw the exception but it doesnt return any data either, ive never gotten a stored procedure based report to work with it.

Null pointer exception in the morning

Hi all,
I have built a custom JSP DYN page application that for the most part works ok. However, I've found on occassion that when I arrive in the morning, the application errors out in our dev and qa portal environments with a null pointer exception type error. The error info in the trace log file is below. I've found that if I redeploy a fresh copy of the application to the dev portal server, it makes the problem go away. In our QA environment, if I restart the portal the problem goes away. In other words, I'm not making any changes to the code to make the problem go away. It's like something has gone awry in the portal.
The trace log file isn't really telling me anything significant. Maybe someone out there has heard of this problem and knows what I'm doing wrong.

Error 500 Java.Lang.Null.Pointer Exception

Please help me:
I have problem with starting my portlet under portal.
Provider is registred correctly ,portlet is added corectly on
Portal Page ,but when I test my page I have :
The Listener Returned the folowing message-
Error 500 Java.Lang.Null.Pointer Exception
Note:Portlet is compiled in JDeveloper 2.0 and there look Ok.

we encountered the same error on aix4.3.3. in fact the error comes from a variable, that has not been initialized, jserv error log says the following:

JSP/EJB sample-problem

Hi,
I'm having difficulties to get the Oracle JSP sample to wrok.
I deployed the JSP App and also the StackDemo app and changed the envrionment variables as requested .
But each time I try to use the DemoStack bean by submitting a 'create stack' I get the message :
"The requested access method is not allowed for that object"
Can anybody help me with this problem?

I use OAS 4.0.8.1.
I also reloaded the application after deployment.
I used a clinet snippet that is compiled in JDevelope 3.0 and I run it from there .
It finds THE EJB , ic reated and deployed without giving any error messages. The problem rises the moment I try to use one of the functions of the remote interface of the EJB. In these functions I try to use functionality of viewObjects that are provided by a bussines component that I generated using JDeveloper 3.0.
The wrb log file mentions a 'null pointer exeption'.
I think that I do something wrong when initializing the application module that wraps the business component, but I can't see what is wrong.
This is the code I use in my EJB :

Request.isUserInRole caused null pointer exception when logged in

I have a jsp page in which I am trying to workout if a user is in a
particular role,
so I can prevent certain things from happening.
The problem I am having is when I haven't logged onto the application the
isUserInRole
is working fine. As soon as I authenticate, the next time the function is
called is causes

GetSevletContext() :: Throwig null pointer exception

Hi All,
I am trying to forward a request with in the server and to do so, when I tried to get the request dispatcher I always ended up with the <Null> pointer exception.
I am trying to do this in Visual Age for Java 3.5's WebSphere Test Environment and platform is Windows NT.
In the folowing code, when I tried to retrieve the servlet context using getServletContext() I get the exception.
Here is the code I am using:
RequestDispatcher disp = getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher(url);
disp.forward(request, response);Any light in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I am forwarding to a JSP and as well to a Servlet. However they are in the same web group and JSP is in the document root only, as I can access the JSP using the link on the browser.
However, I think I am not even there to see the problem caused by JSP or servlet. B'coz I am receiving this error when I try to get the servlet context itself. Once I have the context, probably I get the dispatcher by passing the URL.
