WLS Groups and JDeveloper Enterprise Roles

When there are roles (global, domain, etc.) in the WLS Console, they seem to not have any representation in JDeveloper. It seems that JDeveloper Enterprise Roles correspond to WLS Groups. When I add permissions in the jazn-data.xml, it is Groups that I have to grant to users in the WLS Console, not roles.
SecurityContext.getUserRoles() also returns a list of WLS Groups assigned to given user.
Is it some disarray in the terminology, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
The term "Enterprise Roles" match to WLS groups. Enterprise is a more genric synonym for user groups as on different servers these may have different names otherwise. Note that getUserRoles() shows the enterprise roles and the application roles a user is member of

  • How to create an enterprise role in WLS admin console ?

    HI All,
we have an ADF application developed using jdev 11.1.2.1.
we have some web pages that are assigned to the application
    role: users.
the app role is mapped to the enterprise role: agt_users.
after deploying to a WLS standalone server, we were able to
login, but a http 403 error was returned.
i have tried creating a role in myrealm->global_roles->agt_users,
and have added the group/user to role.
    we're still getting 403 errors.
how can we create an enterprise role, so that the pages can
    be returned ?
thanks very much in advance ...

    Hi
I believe that you should look at the Forms functionality for UCM . Under Content Management - Web Form Editor will show up the editor where in you can add buttons and attach functionalities to it . With UCM 11g this is not available thus you might need to use AJAX to build the requirement .
    Thanks

  • Worklist and WLS groups

A Worklist task is assigned to our 'Staff' group. The Staff group is defined in our LDAP repository and it appears in the WLS console under 'MYREALM' realm.
Here's our basic test case: someone in this group, 'Staff', wants to view this task. They log into our front-end we developed and do a lookup by taskID. WLI complains about the group. Here's the error message from the WLS console...
    <Sep 23, 2004 9:57:31 AM CDT> <Error> <WLI-Worklist> <BEA-493030> <The parameter Staff is an Invalid WLS User or Group .>
<Sep 23, 2004 9:57:31 AM CDT> <Error> <WLI-Worklist> <BEA-493066> <You must be in the worklist admin role or task owner or the task claimant or in the assignee
    list to perform this operation.>
    1. I thought that any member of the Staff group can
access this task? Is this true?
    2. Is there a way that 'anonymous' users are able to
    access this task?

  • LDAP groups and WebLogic Roles - Urgent ( weblogic 6.1 sp1, iPLanet 5.1)

I have 2 questions and these are very urgent :-
    1. Where the mapping can be defined between LDAP groups and WebLogic Roles. I have
2 groups in iPLanet :- Contarctors and employees and I have 2 security roles in weblogic:-
contractactors and employess. How do I map LDAP group contractors to weblogic security
Role contractors? Similarly for employees ?
    2. I have not defined contarctors and employeees under People container in IPlanet.
e.g. The RDN for contractor is
    uid=1234,ou=dir,dc=orams,dc=com
Can I still use the defualt security realm of weblogic (the WebLogic Security Realm
under People ) OR I have to write my own custom code ?
    3. I am planning to use Roles insetad of groups to manage the logical grouping in
iPLant. Can I still use the groups in WebLogic security realm ( in the configuratin

This is very urgent ....so if any of you can throw any hints that will be greatly
    appreciated.

    Hi Ariel,
The driver is bundled with the product in WLS 6.1sp1. you don't have to
download any additional driver. Use it as you normally would only thing to
remember is if you are trying to write standalone java code then you have to
have weblogic.jar in your classpath. For the rest of the info follow the wls
    docs for 6.1

  • WLS Users and Groups interface questions / observations

I'm new to WLS, having just installed OBIEE 11g for the first time. There are some oddities in WLS around setting up Users that I'd like to ask about, to see if I'm just missing something, or if the interface really IS this bad. Please feel free to comment in any way, or to correct any statements that are erroneous. Here goes:
    1. The use of Previous and Next buttons instead of a vertical scroll bar for finding users and groups in their respective lists. What if you have several hundred users, and the one you want to modify starts with the letter 'Z'? That means clicking the Next button several dozen times. (Security Realms … myrealm … Users and Groups … Users) Not only is there no scroll bar, there's no search box either. The only way to get to a user near the end of the alphabetical listing is the Next button. Is that correct?
    2. After adding a new user, what's the next most logical thing to want to do? How about assigning that user to Groups? So why do I have to click Next several times to find that new user in the alphabetical list? I don't see a sortable 'Date Modified' field for the table of users, nor a link to the "Most Recently Added" user. Nor can I assign groups during the same action as creating the user. In the example in #1, I might have to click Next several dozen times to get to the user I just added. Is that correct?
    3. When creating a new User, immediately after clicking New, where is the most likely place that I'd want to go? How about the Name field? Right now, the cursor rests in some indeterminate location. I have to hit the Tab key 14 times, or move the mouse into the Name box and click it. The active cursor position does not default to the Name box when creating a new user. Is that correct?
    4. I don't see a 'Create Like' button for creating Users, so that existing group membership can be easily replicated. I'd like to be able to add a new employee by clicking to highlight an existing user from the same department, clicking a 'Create Like' button, then entering a new user name and password, with all group memberships assigned automatically based on the source user. The same could be said for replicating groups. I don't think that exists. Is that correct?
    5. I don't see a clean way to return to the User list on the page on which I clicked a user name. Imagine that I'm going through my entire list of users one at a time to set an attribute. I click on the user JSMITH and set the attribute. The only way to get back to JSMITH's page and select the next user list is to hit the browser's back button three times, or to click the Users and Groups breadcrumb at the top of the screen and use the Next link multiple times to find that page again. Is that correct?
    6. I don't see a way to bring up a Group and assign Users to it from a list. It appears that the only way to assign a User to a Group is to access a User profile and click Groups. If we're creating a new group that has 200 users selected from a list of 500 users, that could potentially represent somewhere between 5000 and 10000 mouse clicks. It would be much more efficient to be able to bring up a group, then select its members from a list of users. That does not appear to be possible. Is that correct?
    7. It also appears that when assigning groups for Users, the list of Available Parent Groups sorts the lowercase entries after all uppercase entries, so that groups that start with the letter 'a' fall after groups that start with 'Z'. That is not the case with the list of users. The User table uses a case-insensitive sort. Is that correct?
    8. When I want to delete more than one User, and the ones that I want to delete are on different pages, there appears to be no way to select those users from multiple pages at the same time. So, imagine that I have 500 users, and I want to delete two users, one of whom is listed on page 48, and the other on page 50. I would have to click the Next button 47 times to find the first user and delete it. At that point, the interface returns to page 1, and I have to click the Next button 49 times to reach the second user. Is that correct?

    Hi,
Regarding your first question, you might want to press the "Customize this table" button, then select the maximum allowed amount of rows in "Number of rows displayed per page:" that would resolve some of the problems you're having with the interface. I do think this is not a great graphical tool, and there are some usability issues.
Regarding the adding of users to groups, it seems the way you describe is the only way of doing it, however you could try using a script instead of the graphical console, the easiest way of making it is adding a user to a group while using the "Record" button on the top of the screen to get a wlst script to use as a model, then create a new script with all new users you want to add/modify.

    Franco.

  • Making users available for OpenSSO realm group and role assignment?? Help.

Here is the situation. We have 3 Open SSO realms set up. One we have called OpenSSO-Admin, a second called OpenSSO-Provider and a third OpenSSO-Internal. We are having issues provisioning and managing the OpenSSO-Internal OpenSSO-Provider realms, but OpenSSO-Admin seems to be fine.
Here is the behavior that is manifest.
In the 2 'broken' realms, when we create users and assign them to the appropriate Open SSO realm, they appear to be provisioned correctly in IDM as well as the realm (We have validated user creation in LDAP and everything about the user appears to be fine). When we view the groups and roles in the specific resources, we are presented with a list of users that are in Brackets and appear to be provisioned. The brackets indicate that the users are not found as available users. The bracketed users can not be unassigned, nor can any others. note, our bracketed users in the list of assigned users are created from a workflow which assigns them directly to the appropriate group and role based on their business role.
The third realm, OpenSSO-Admin works fine and we can add, and manage users in the groups and roles within the realm.
We have ruled out the workflow as a source as the problem persists when we use the tool to manage users. We can create a user from scratch and add them to the realms. In the 'Broken' relms, the users do not appear in thelist of available users to be assigned to the groups or roles. Yet in the 'good realm, everything appears fine. We can move users from one realm to another and the problem persists in the broken realms, but when a user is added to the 'good' realm, everything is fine.
I have tried reconciling and get no different results.
Question is, We have isolated that the issue seems to be in the generation / management of the left hand "Available Users" list. How and where is this generated from and how can we check/fix or regenerate this list?
    Thanks.
    Joe

I should clarify. We are using Sun IDM 8.1

  • How to access the mapping of Groups and Roles in the JAVA Application

We have mapped the EJB roles with the groups through the Visual Administrator. We have developed the SSO. We have developed the application through which we are creating the user and role and mapping that role with the created user. The created role is saved in some LDAP directory. The second application in which ejb methods are mapped with some security roles. The LDAP roles we are getting in Netweaver as groups and we can perform the mapping of the deployed ejb roles with the group. Now for the logged in user we want to get the roles mapped with it so that we can give/deny the access to the methods from EJB as per the role of that user .How we will get the access to the mappings of the roles with the group in the application, if I know the LDAP roles mapped with the user (since these roles are accessible as groups in the NetWeaver)
For e.g.  From application created the user with the role as "manager". This role is stored in iPlanet directory.
This directory is mapped in the Netweaver. The manager role is displayed as the group in the Netweaver.
Created the EJB application with the method "displayTheAccountDetails() with the role as "ManagerRole"
This role is mapped with the manager group. Now we are having the details about the logged in user and the LDAP roles mapped to it (maneger role). How I will get the access to the details that for this group which ejb role is mapped in the application. So depending on that I can allow/deny the access to the ""displayTheAccountDetails()" method to the logged in user.

    Do you, guys, work together?

  • Roles, Groups and Class of Service

    Hi,
I am new to LDAP, have a good RDBMs background. I have read the Sun documentation to understand the concepts. Can someone recommend a good source that provide examples on how to set up Roles, Groups and Class of Services.
    Thanks,

Directory Server documentation set contains the best examples to my knowledge.
You may want to start with the Deployment Guide for introduction to the concepts and Administration Guide for setting them up and examples.

  • Difference between Groups and roles?

    Hi All,
What is the difference between groups and roles?
Thanks for your time and help.

Oracle does not have anything called a 'group'.
A role is a named object that can contain a set of privileges. The members of the set can be individual privileges or can be another role that contains its own set of privileges. Roles can then be granted to users (or to other roles) so that those users (or roles) have the specified privileges.

  • WLS/SOA upgrade to 11.1.1.6 and JDeveloper issues

    Dear all
I completed the migration of my SOA environment to 11.1.1.6, including upgrade of WLS, upgrade of SOA infrastructure and schema upgrade with PSA. The environment seems to be working fine.
The issue is that, when I try to install Jdeveloper 11.1.16, it reports that my SOA installation is still at 11.1.14 level, and I can't continue,
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Arturo
    1. It is very important to install SOA Software and JDeveloper in totally different Middleware Homes (means different folders).
    2. Looks like you already upgraded your WLS + SOA to 11.6 and ofcourse RCU Database also.
    3. When you download and install JDeveloper 11.6, in first screen, by default it will select above middleware home and will ask you, if this is where you want to install JDeveloper. Make sure you do NOT select this location where you have WLS + SOA. Instead select like create new middleware home and say on Windows give a path like C:\Oracle\Middleware\JDeveloper116 and this folder will have JDeveloper. Usually for WLS + SOA, I install to a folder like C:\Oracle\MiddlewareSOA115 etc.
If you install both in same middleware home, some jars gets overwritten and you run into wierd issues.
When you install JDeveloper, it should NOT even look for any SOA Software or version etc. JDeveloper is just the IDE. Install JDeveloper. From Help menu, you install 2 extensions for soa and bpm. Thats it.
I hope ORACLE documentation clearly states that the middleware homes should be different for JDev and WLS or atleast this is Recommended or Supported. If it already does, pardon me.
    Thanks

  • Enterprise Role grants in jazn-data fail for AD Provider User Accounts?

    Hello All,
I have enterprise roles defined within my jazn-data.xml for my 11.1.1.4 web application. We just recently switched user accounts over to an active directory provider for authentication. So, I have user accounts associated with the active directory provider that are assigned to my enterprise roles. This is working fine because all of my EL expressions of the form #{securityContext.userInRole['EnterpriseRoleName']} are working great.
However, all of the grants in jazn-data.xml for pages that should only be viewable by users with this role are now not working. Users with this role see a "Internal Server 500" error with the message "oracle.adf.controller.security.AuthorizationException: ADFC-0619: Authorization check failed", rather than the related pages. This all used to work when the user accounts were not coming from the active directory provider.
As a work around, I've had to grant test-all view access to all pages, but hide controls and portions of pages that non-authorized users should see using EL like what I printed above.
This can't be right. Why are AD user accounts treated differently by WebLogic Server, when the security context indicates that the user has the proper role?
    Thanks

Haha... nice one. This is a low-key production app that is internal to this company. I can't have users with AD accounts, who used to have WLS internal accounts when the jazn grants worked, just stop using the application until some solution comes about. It may take days. I don't understand why you would leave such an unhelpful comment and then leave the discussion. Is this a precedence that you want set within your forum? Please help me to understand why this is a bad workaround. I'm just at the beginning of trying to figure out the root cause of this issue. A search didn't reveal any obvious answers, so I thought I'd reach out to my knowledgeable ADF friends on the forum to see if this was something that could easily be fixed.
Back to your comment -- why is this a mistake? I have always used the rendered attribute value to hide navigation points to pages that are supposed to be accessible to users with the enterprise role (e.g. rendered="#{securityContext.userInRole['EnterpriseRoleName']}"). This still works fine in the context of this problem, because the security context is working properly -- it's picking up user membership to enterprise roles. It's the jazn grants that are not working for the AD provider related users.
In this context, if some really smart user guesses the URL of a page I don't want them on because they don't have the role, then why can't I simply set rendered="#{securityContext.userInRole['EnterpriseRoleName']}" on the PGL that presents the body of the page? The content of the page isn't rendered. That's the point of the "rendered" attribute, right? Better yet, I could have a nice message that says that aren't authorized to view the page, rather than put a Java stack trace in their face. Why, then, as a temporary workaround, is this such a bad idea?
Thank you "sameera.sac" for the links. I'd seen the first one before posting and it wasn't pertinent. But I'll certainly research the others you provided.
    Thanks

  • How to map Application Roles to Enterprise Roles

    Hello,
i am having a problem with mapping Application Roles (from ADF Security) to the corresponding Enterprise Roles. I have already seen that it is possible with a tool called Enterprise Manager, but what if i do not have it??
Can i map the roles in WebLogic Server itself? I have searched for such ability and did not found it. Also have not seen any tutorial on the internet. Someone help me pls.
The version i am using is 12.1.2.0.0.

Application roles and permissions defined within WebCenter Portal are stored in its policy store and, consequently, apply to the WebCenter Portal application only.
Application Roles : Application roles control the level of access a user has to information and services in WebCenter Spaces. Specifically, application roles determine what a user can see and do in their personal space.
Application Permissions : Again every application role has specific, defined capabilities known as permissions. These permissions allow individuals to perform specific actions in their personal Portal.
Enterprise roles are different. Enterprise roles are stored within the application's identity store and do not imply any permissions within WebCenter Portal.
    2. How and where do we create these 5 Application Roles in WC 11.1.1.8 version ?
You can create an application role from WebCenter Portal -> Portal Builder -> Administration tab -> Security -> Roles -> Create Role
See : Managing Security Across Portals for more info :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/webcenter.1111/e27738/wcadm_ps_security.htm#WCADM398
    3. Last, where and how do we MAP these Application Roles TO Enterprise Roles in 11.1.1.8 version ?
First, You can grant privileges to a specified group (say sales group) of users by granting Enterprise Roles in Enterprise LDAP.
Next, Create custom application roles (say Contributor, Moderator, UIDesigner, Application Specialist, etc) and assign the appropriate permissions as explained above.
Then, You can assign one or more Application Roles to a specified group (say sales group) from WebCenter Portal -> Portal Builder -> Administration tab -> Security -> users & Groups
    I hope it helps.

    Best,
    Frank
