Word for Mac and other products don't work with Yosemite

Constant crashes of Word, PPT and Excel after Yosemite install. Does anyone know why?

I had to uninstall a network printer which seemed to be involved somehow because the crashes were occurring when I tried to use that printer - however it may be coincidental. Right now I am not getting any crashes but I am very regretful that I installed Yosemite! Features that I had in Mail like removing attachments from messages not longer seems to be available and this business with the printer is strange.

Had this problem for quite a while but found a work-a-round. I click anywhere in the text I want to delete and insert any character. I am then able to block and delete any text I want to. It's been working great.

Sorry for the first link - don't know what happened. I did get a warning
that it was an untrusted site in Chrome, but warning flashed up and went
away - maybe Microsoft is/was under attack.

My previous answer still stands: Restore from your backup taken before you upgaded to Mountain Lion. For example, a Time Machine backup, a Carbon Copy Cloner clone, or a commercial backup service. Not the disk that came with your computer (which is how I read "OS back up disk").
If you reinstall the original OS from the disk that came with your computer, it will wipe out everything on your computer. (The installer won't install an older OS over a newer one, so you'll have to wipe the disk first.) Then you'll need to restore your data from your backup and reinstall applications like Word.

If you close all the windows and quit word, next time you restart, DO NOT check "Reopen windows on login".
Also, check your login items for your user account.

Remove it according to the developer's instructions and see whether there's an improvement. Back up all data before making any changes.

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions. I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

I have 30 Word for Mac docs on my MacBook Pro that I would like to access on my iPhone 4 via iCloud. Do I need to convert them? To what?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You don't have to convert your Word documents to anything, because Pages can read Word documents.
First, purchase Pages for the iPhone in the App Store, so you will be able to transfer your Word documents. Then, open http://www.icloud.com, log in with your Apple ID, select "iWork" and drag all your Word documents to the window, so they will be uploaded to iCloud.
Finally, if you have turned on iCloud for Pages in the iPhone, open Pages and you will see your documents in your iPhone

You'd need to install a virtualization product, such as VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop for Mac. This way, you'd be running Windows alongside Mac OS X. I use VMware Fusion and recommend it. For resource-intensive applications, I boot natively into Windows, but I generally use the virtual machine for convenience sake.

I suggest you use DropBox, OneDrive, Box.com or one of the other free cloud services.

MS Word for Macs 2011 in Mavericks - can you help with text formatting?

When I try to copy and paste text in MS Word for Macs 2011 (14.3.9) the text doesn't retain its formatting. I'm running a year old 27" iMac with OS 10.9.1 Mavericks. My other Mac is still running OS 10.8.5 and the same verision of Word works fine.
Any ideas?

I've found it difficult to actually nail down what causes the odd behaviors in Office. I think it is due to the config files scattered all over, never knowing which one to delete.
However, you may be able to isolate the problem to your own account, or to the system by trying two things:
1) Log into another user account (a new one would be good, or Guest) and try there.
2) Boot into Safe Mode and try there: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
If it works in 1, then there is something in your account causing the issues.
If it works in 2, then the something is third-party software.
